According to Michael Mann, the main obstacle to climate action is a coalition of Russian robots, Saudis, fossil fuel tycoons, Rupert Murdoch, Wikileaks and climate deniers.

Who is the enemy in the new climate war?
It is fossil fuel interests, climate change deniers, conservative media tycoons, working together with petrostate actors like Saudi Arabia and Russia. I call this the coalition of the unwilling. If you had to find a single face that represents both the old and new climate war it would be Rupert Murdoch. Climate change is an issue the Murdoch press has disassembled on for years. The disinformation was obvious last year, when they blamed arsonists for the devastating Australian bushfires. This was a horrible attempt to divert attention from the real cause, which was climate change. Murdoch was taken to task by his own son because of the immorality of his practices.
We also have to recognise the increasing roles of petrostate actors. Saudi Arabia has played an obstructionist role. Russia has perfected cyber warfare and used it to interfere in other countries and disrupt action on climate change. MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has made a credible case about Russia’s efforts to hijack the 2016 presidential election and get Trump elected. Russia wanted to end US sanctions that stood in the way of a half-trillion-dollar deal between Rosneft and ExxonMobil. It worked. Who did Trump appoint as his first secretary of state? Rex Tillerson, the former CEO of ExxonMobil.
Today Russia uses cyberware – bot armies and trolls – to get climate activists to fight one another and to seed arguments on social media. Russian trolls have attempted to undermine carbon pricing in Canada and Australia, and Russian fingerprints have been detected in the yellow-vest protests in France.Advertisement
And WikiLeaks? Your book suggests they were involved?
I’m not an expert but there has been a lot of investigative journalism about the role they played in the 2016 election. Julian Assange and WikiLeaks helped Donald Trump get elected, and in doing that they did the bidding of Putin. Their fingerprints are also all over the climategate affair 10 years ago. UK investigators have evidence of Russian involvement in that too.…

I’ve got news for you Mann, climate activists don’t need our help to fall out with each other. Just look at the fight between Michael Moore and the rest of the climate community over his anti-renewable energy eco-epic “Planet of the Humans”. Or that hilarious time Naomi Oreskes called James Hansen a “denier”, because of a disagreement over nuclear power.
Of course it helps that Michael Moore is part of the climate denier conspiracy. Moore’s “Planet of the Humans” insider attack against renewable energy and the climate establishment was a maskirovka master stroke.
The truth is the previous paragraph is a joke, Michael Moore is not an agent of fossil fuel interests, as far as I know. But do climate activists trust me to tell the truth? Maybe some of them will think I’m mocking climate activists by parading a snippet of the truth, then laughing about it, expecting nobody to believe my reveal.
What do you think, Michael Mann?
“They always eat their own”.
Comrade Mann,strikes again.
If the Mann did not exist we would have had to invent him.
However most decent people could never have imagined this character.
The Parasitic overload does not need any help to engage in infighting, these are ideologues and liars, they will always stab each other in the back…
It is the only skill set they have.
He is a perfect fit for Penn State Narcissistic Science though.
There ain’t no way to hide those beady, lyin’ eyes.
Unfortunately.
This would be funny except the guy played a pivotal role in warping global policy for at least a decade and it’s getting worse. The joke is on all of us. Forced Peak Oil is the work of economic illiterates gone wild. Millions will starve.
So, when buildings were burning in Portland, Seattle, and Minneapolis last year, was that the fault of climate change or arsonists?
Climate change is an issue the Murdoch press has disassembled on for years
“disassembled”? Or “disseminated”?
“… nowadays the thing most often disseminated, or “spread abroad as though sowing seed,” is information.”
If he actually said ‘disassembled’ – a momentary mental lapse, or something more serious?
According to Michael Mann, the main obstacle to climate action is a coalition of Russian robots, Saudis, fossil fuel tycoons, Rupert Murdoch, Wikileaks and climate deniers.
The main obstacle to “climate action” is “Mother Nature”.
She can’t read tree rings or climate models and wouldn’t care about them if “she” could.
In less figurative terms, the main obstacle to “climate action” is reality.
Face it, Mann, you’ve got it wrong.
I’m a little late with this comment, perhaps few will see it; I have posted this story a couple of times here on WUWT, but I believe it is extremely pertinent and illustrative to do so again.
Many years ago, a NWS forecaster wrote an Area Forecast Discussion and included a sarcastic comment about termites (after papers appeared in the literature stating that termites were thought to be significant contributors of methane to the atmosphere, and thus large contributors to disastrous global warming). Michael Mann called that very day to complain to the supervisor that this was not a subject to be joked about, and that it had no place in AFDs, etc etc. One might reasonably ask, in what role would a university professor need to comment about the contents of a NWS AFD? What would prompt such a response from a busy climate researcher to a minor weather product which is not in his domain?
I believe society needs to put Michael Mann’s work, responses, and actions in the context of NPD: Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Now, I’m no psychiatrist or psychologist, and I would not even attempt to diagnose anyone with a potential personality disorder, but, ironically, because the above-mentioned supervisor so closely fit the NPD criteria, I became closely acquainted with those criteria. Look it up for yourself in DSM IV or V (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV or V), and you will see what I mean. Among other things, a narcissist MUST be thought of by his inferiors (which is just about everybody, even a boss) as correct and superior. Any intimation that he/she is wrong will be met with swift and decisive action and potent push-back. Narcissists are CERTAIN that they are right, and everybody else is wrong. Why, the above-noted supervisor even used that very statement to the staff! “I’m right and you all are wrong.” He/she also said, “If you want to know what’s wrong with this office, just look in the mirror.” Narcissists are very clever; when in therapy, they can apparently often fool the therapist and explain away their actions. They can make it appear everybody else really IS wrong. It’s only with the passage of time and events that this disorder comes to light. Back to the termite story: Mann’s possible NPD forces him to respond to any intimation that his theory/ideas/ideology are in any way flawed, even for minor and seemingly unrelated events or situations. Narcissists seem to have a deep-seated shame for which they compensate by employing an over-arching hubris and need for control. A narcissist will project onto their enemy their own ills; they will of course lie when it can be gotten away with. I observed first-hand the desperation and flash psychopathy of the mentioned supervisor when this person lost control of him/herself when he/she could not control me, the situation, and the overall proceedings. It’s been said that the family of a narcissist suffers the most, but, in the case of a narcissist on the “Climate Emergency” stage, it appears the world is suffering, due to the sheer waste of trillions of dollars and trillions of euros.
Have they checked for radioactive residue around State College? ask the Brits about that.
I believe that the real problem is the science. Based on the paleoclimate record and the work done with models one can conclude that the climate change we are experiencing today is caused by the sun and the oceans over which mankind has no control. Mankind does not even know what the optimum climate is let alone how to obtain it. So the real problem is reality.
Manniacal should have the padded room next to the merchant of doubt lady’s padded room.
Maybe they can syncopate their crazy outbursts?
