Every time you buy through Amazon or subscribe to Amazon streaming services, a small amount of your money goes to groups which actively oppose President Trump’s energy and climate policies.
Bezos makes first donations from $10 billion Earth Fund for fighting climate change
Amazon chief executive and owner of The Washington Post says climate change is most urgent issue facing the planet.

Jeff Bezos said Monday he is giving $791 million to 16 groups fighting climate change, the first grants from his Earth Fund, saying the money is “just the beginning of my $10 billion commitment to fund scientists, activists, NGOs, and others.”
…
Bezos, the founder and chief executive of Amazon, also bestowed money on groups concerned with environmental justice, including Dream Corps’ Green For All, the Hive Fund for Climate and Gender Justice, and the Solutions Project.
“I’ve spent the past several months learning from a group of incredibly smart people who’ve made it their life’s work to fight climate change and its impact on communities around the world,” Bezos said in an Instagram post. “I’m inspired by what they’re doing, and excited to help them scale. … We can all protect Earth’s future by taking bold action now.”

The Washington Post goes on to explain how the $100 million grant to the Environmental Defence Fund will be spent on a satellite monitoring system, to allow the group to identify and legally pursue methane leaks.
Obviously it is up to Bezos what he does with his own money. But I wonder how many jobs will be destroyed by Bezos helping the Environmental Defence Fund identify more methane leaks?
The petroleum industry is not just ultra rich oil tycoons with mansions and Cadillacs, there are also a lot of small operators just getting by, reeling from the economic impact of the Covid lockdown, struggling to pay the mortgage on their third hand equipment, giving their all to try to build a better life for their families and provide a steady income for their employees. Over zealous enforcement of methane standards will not help their situation.
I can help “save the world” and get paid for it?
Just keep the lettuce rollin.

Wealth tax now!
Better yet Virtue Tax now! When filing taxes, there should be a section with the following questions:
1) Do you think the wealthy should pay more? If you check yes and you fall into the category of “wealthy” you pay more.
2) Do you think carbon (CO2) should be taxed? If you check yes, you pay more based on your “carbon footprint”
When any high profile individual (celebrities, politicians, journalists, etc) publicly advocates for one of those virtue taxes to be mandatory rather than voluntary, the IRS should then be authorized to disclose which answer that individual selected on their tax forms and, if they had selected no, send them a bill for taxes owed plus a fine for lying on their tax forms.
“…groups which actively oppose President Trump’s energy and climate policies.”
What energy and climate policies? The only one I can think of is “energy companies can do whatever they like so long as it increases profits and shareholder value”.
Anyway, anything that’s in opposition to Trump is by definition a good thing, so I’ll be ordering from Amazon frequently, as I always have. The fact that it will now infuriate right wing redneck fascist Trump lickspittle numbskulls is a pleasant and unexpected bonus!
It is easy to see that you are kin to mikey mann….the creator of the Big Lie …the hockey puck graph. Bezos might as well flushed his money down the toilet but that would have blocked the sewer system. I boycott amazon.
There’s an old saying:
Conservatives believe that liberals are stupid.
Liberals believe that conservatives are evil.
Both sides of the saying are amply demonstrated by poor Adrian.
Trump’s living rent free in your head, I see. The smile that fact puts on the faces of Trumps supporters more than makes up for any imaginary infuriation you think your actions and insults could possibly cause them.
There is no doubt in my mind, that if given the opportunity, Adrian would eagerly throw fireworks at Trump supporters.
Trumps supporters tend to be very strong on the 2nd Amendment. He’d throw fireworks at them at his own peril.
Adrian,
You just can’t resist a good morning insult and rant eh? does it feel better than a good morning bowel movement? (In your case I think what you wrote is more like the latter).
Bezos and his cohort of self righteous power hungry elite are dangerous idiot savants and also proselytizing hypocrites. They are the modern equivalents of the merchants who defiled the temple.
One day in the future, like all of us, you’ll be facing the end of your life and if you continue along the path you appear to have adopted I predict you will realize with huge regret that you have completely wasted every second of it consumed with pointless, blind, uninformed hatred and further that your contribution to the betterment of society will have amounted to a big fat zero, in fact you’ll probably be overdrawn.
Wake up and smell the coffee or perhaps covfefe, before it is too late.
why am I not surprised to find out how much hatred Adrian has for anyone who disagrees with him.
Next step will be death camps for those despicable right wingers.
PS: Why do you feel the need to lie about Trump’s policies? Is it because the actual policies aren’t as despicable as you are paid to believe?
Poor little Mann..
a classic case to TRUMP derangement syndrome.
Hilarious 🙂
You are welcome to help Bezos become rich at your behest…..
So he can enjoy the benefits of capitalism, huge use of fossil fuels, and a complete disregard for human decency..
Hope it works out well for you. 😉
***Anyway, anything that’s in opposition to Trump is by definition a good thing, ***
And that in a line is what is wrong today. Suckers believe anything they are told by CNN. So the media and Democrats essentially killed more than half of the Covid patients in the USA and elsewhere just to oppose the use of HCQ
BECAUSE TRUMP QUOTED A GOOD DOCTOR.
Not one dime for objective research to improve knowledge of the atmosphere and the physics of the earth. The money will be spent to browbeat the public with endless fearmongering of the end of life on earth with mankind as the culprit.
While they live in luxury they would destroy the very means of thriving for the average working people to accumulate personal power and wealth. for themselves while edging out anyone else with possibly better ideas for living.
Spoken like a true-blue leftard brainwashed troll with no clue about energy, climate or economics.
The list is a cathedral of Fake Science funders (money launders).
Green extortion pays billions!!
It’s what oligarch do …
Hush money to get the greenies to ignore the Amazon AWS power-sucking mega data centers sprinkled around the world. As well as the mega warehouses for Amazon retail and the associated fleet of Amazon Prime gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. And virtue signaling PR about the tiny number of Amazon Prime electric vehicles.
Sucking-up to Klaus the Swab (Popeye) seems a plausible explanation.
Celebrate with the purchase of a backup generator, camping stove, and various plastic products made in the coal capital, China.
Hopefully, Bezos green projects turn out as good as his space program. Twenty years of effort and only a suborbital hopper that has yet to carry a passenger to show for it.
I saw a Ford Motor Company advertisement right after the US presidential election was held last week and Ford claims its industrial processes and other facilities will be powered 100 percent by windmills and solar by the year 2035.
Would this commercial have run if the media had declared Trump the winner? I’m just asking, as I don’t know.
Does anyone believe that Ford will be powered solely by windmills and solar in 15 years? I’m betting there will be some fossil fuel backups included in there somewhere.
I guess this puts Ford in the same boat as Amazon: Making claims that are really distortions of reality, presumably as a means to show they are virtuous, even though they have to lie to make it appear that way.
Bezos is a climate hypocrite. He has a 29,000 sq. ft. mansion in Seattle, a $165 million mansion in Beverly Hills, $80 million apartments in NYC, a Texas ranch, and a mansion in Washington D.C. He also owns a Gulfstream G650ER private jet and a $400 million dollar, 136 METER, private yacht. How can ANYONE really believe that this phony is truly worried about the climate?
He’s very worried about the damage that the rest of you are doing to then environment.
In fact if you keep on damaging the planet, he won’t be able to continue to enjoy all the toys he has bought.
Years ago I made the claim that the celebrities who were going on and on about how bad air travel was for the planet, couldn’t care less about the planet. If they did, they would follow their own advice and stop using air travel.
The real reason was that they wanted to prevent hoi polloi from making all of the best vacation spots so crowded.
It seems to me that there have been more responses to this post than any other WUWT post that I can recall. Perhaps this demonstrates that MONEY TALKS.
There are 144 comments to this article as of this moment. That is not really a large number of comments for an article on WUWT. Some topics can generate large numbers of comments. Large numbers of intelligent comments. 🙂
It just shows you that there is a difference between perception and reality. Thanks for putting me right Tom.
If you want to know what Bezos has in store for you look at the way the workers in his vast warehouses are treated. That’s why I stopped buying anything from Amazon years ago.
