Covid-19 pandemic is ‘fire drill’ for effects of climate crisis, says UN official
Lise Kingo says social equality issues must be part of sustainable development agenda

Tue 16 Jun 2020 00.16 AESTThe coronavirus pandemic is “just a fire drill” for what is likely to follow from the climate crisis, and the protests over racial injustice around the world show the need to tie together social equality, environmental sustainability and health, the UN’s sustainable business chief has said.
“The overall problem is that we are not sustainable in the ways we are living and producing on the planet today,” said Lise Kingo, the executive director of the UN Global Compact, under which businesses sign up to principles of environmental protection and social justice. “The only way forward is to create a world that leaves no one behind.”
She said there were “very, very clear connections” between the Covid-19 and climate crises, and the Black Lives Matter protests around the world, which she said had helped to reveal deep-seated inequalities and “endemic and structural racism”.
“We have seen illustrated to everyone that social inequality issues are part of the sustainable development agenda,” Kingo said.

The UN secretary general, António Guterres, said building a fairer society would be essential to the world’s health, as well as to saving the planet from climate breakdown and ecological destruction.
“Today, the fabric of society and the wellbeing of people hinge on our ability to build a fair globalisation,” he told the two-day UN Global Compact virtual conference of business leaders, which started on Monday.
“Where once ‘do no harm’ was a common approach for the business community, today we are arriving at a new landscape of elevated expectations and responsibilities. But despite progress, serious threats would undermine our future, including climate change, poverty, loss of biodiversity and widening social inequalities. The pandemic has underscored the world’s fragilities, which extend far beyond the realm of global health.”

In my opinion this is flailing, a desperate attempt by the UN to tie climate change to an issue people care about.
But the UN climate activists and their allies still seem to have a lot of money to fling about, so they are far from finished. Billions of dollars are in the balance, tied up in existing renewable energy investments which could become worthless overnight, if the world’s cash strapped governments decide to switch off their renewable energy life support programmes, as Spain did in 2011.

The common thread isn’t the false belief in man caused climate change, but unsupportable policy positions from the Progressive Socialists leading them and the MSM to become merchants of hate and fear. This is their method because they know that truth and logic can’t support their desire to end the uniquely American experiment in individual freedom, personal responsibility and free market capitalism.
They left out women’s rights. WHO are they answering to in that oversight?

It just gets tiring, listening to this relentless production line of BS. Projection everywhere and literally not a scintilla of evidence to support yet more absurd claims. These people are idiots.
Having to point out the fallacy of this nonsense is almost embarrassing but while they keep producing this garbage sensible voices have to keep refuting it. So here we all are, yet again. Madness.
Yes, exactly. Why should any aware human being imagine that many of our “experts” and “leaders” are actually blithering idiots? What kind of grades does it take nowadays to get a pass in a science class at Woke University? Would anyone be surprised if they were to learn it was simply a matter of parroting the party line and speculate on what disasters might happen if we keep producing CO2? I wouldn’t.

Here is a thought which came to mind recently. The lefty media has been shouting about rising cases of the virus in some states. Their emphasis is on the concept that removing restrictions on the population has led to increases in some states. However, note that all of the states which have shown a jump in daily new cases are mostly in the south, ie: Texas, Florida, Arizona, Southern California, No/So Carolinas, Alabama, and a few others. Taking note of that I couldn’t help but wonder if the increase in some southern states was related to an increase in new cases in other nations which sit around the same latitude as the US states.
Here are some examples of nations at lower latitudes in the NH showing elevated new case numbers, Mexico, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Egypt, and a few others. So is the correlation meaningful?
All these States have increased their testing by a considerable amount. In my State’s case, they are doing four times as much testing as they were doing two weeks ago. So that will account for some of the new positives.
We’ll just have to wait and see how large gatherings, such as demonstrations and political meetings are going to effect the count.
And then we will have to see how well we can quell the infections that result.
How do you get someone to screw themselves?
Psychopaths convince the people they are inadequate, e.g. stupid, the inadequate believe it, and that only they or their “experts” are capable of solving the problem as they want it solved and thus saving the stupid from themselves.
Nada mas.
It’s should not be about who is right (correct for the pc enabled), but what is right. However, that tends to expose uncomfortable facts that eat away at the fabric of the illusions they have created and fed us…. over and over.
Fear is the number 2 strategy to control people. When that doesn’t work and people speak, the force comes out.
