According to Democrat Candidate Tom Steyer, none of the other candidates are as focussed on climate change as he is.
Tom Steyer talks climate change and foreign policy on tour of Iowa
BY MUSADIQ BIDAR
JANUARY 4, 2020 / 7:02 PM / CBS NEWSA sticker on Tom Steyer’s bus reads, “Climate is my number one priority.” At every campaign stop he tells Iowans no other candidate is willing to make this claim.
Aboard the bus on Friday morning between stops on a five-day bus tour through Iowa, Steyer talked about his decision to launch his campaign late in the summer because no other candidate on the early debate stage was “telling the truth” about climate.
He took a shot at former presidential hopeful Jay Inslee. “Jay Inslee wasn’t going anywhere,” Steyer said about the Washington governor who made climate change the top issue of his short-lived campaign. “No one was listening to him.”
And he criticized Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders’ Green New Deal climate plan as unrealistic, arguing that neither Congress nor the Democratic Party will support it.
“I know that Bernie has a big climate plan,” Steyer told reporters. “I also know that it is not his top priority.”

It will be interesting to see how other candidates respond to Tom Steyer’s assertion they are not focussed enough on climate change.
Just call him what he is: liar, liar, pants on fire. Pandering to the least informed is how people like that get votes.
If only there were some way to put egg on his face….
You mean his only priority as a one-dimensional, self-funded run at the reins of power. At least he’s splintering the potential campaign funding to Dems so it’s okay by me.
I was a young adult during the 1970’s, forced to wait in line for hours at 6:00 AM for gasoline on odd days of the month every time some Saudi prince threatened to close the oil spigot, with Presidents Ford and Carter kissing their butts and telling us to wear sweaters indoors, while it was illegal to sell oil drilled in America at more than $6 per barrel.
Forty years later, thanks to fracking, the USA produces more oil and gas than it consumes, and can tell all those desert princes and ayatollahs in the Middle East to go pound sand, and people here can buy gasoline 24/7 if they have a debit card, and it’s cheaper (relative to inflation) now than in 1980, and we have the strongest economy in the world.
So, Tom Steyer, why would we the people of the United States want to sacrifice all this unprecedented prosperity to live in 19th-century poverty just to (maybe) make the weather a fraction of a degree cooler? If Steyer made billions in business, where is his cost/benefit analysis? If costs outweigh benefits by 1000 : 1 or more, who’s buying?
Didn’t Tom Steyer achieve his wealthy status because of fossil fuels?
And now he is an okay climate warrior?
How is that, in any way, consistent?
Just like Al Gore.
Unfortunately, the veneer of ‘super smarts’ comes with financial success. (Unless your name is Trump.) But with Steyer, he comes across as unclever and boring and unpleasantly fixated on one issue. He seems self-deluded and self-important to the point of self-imprisonment. How the hell did he manage so well in the corporate world with the low-level skills in evidence now? What a goofy world.
Tom Steyer = Tom Liar, if my understanding of his wealth is correct.
Couldn’t help giggling upon reading the author’s first name.
Maybe I’m pronouncing it wrong but it sounds like something Bullwinkle’s creator opted out of drawing…

Interesting stratagy when polls show that climate change is near the bottom for most voters. I guess Steyer is hoping he can boost their interest.
Steyer seems unware of the fact that the IPCC climate models make no predictions thus failing to support regulation of the outcomes of the events of the future for Earth’s climate system.
If climate is Tom Steyer’s #1 priority then why does he have 4 kids? Overpopulation has been talked about for decades. Remember the first Earth Day in 1970? Remember the 1968 book ‘The Population Bomb’?
Talk of overpopulation actually goes back much further to a time before Tom Steyer’s great great grandfather was born. Thomas Malthus was an English economist and demographer born in the second half of the 18th century. He is probably best known for his theory that population growth will tend to grow faster than the food supply and as a result there had to be limits on population growth if humans are to limit in comfort without poverty. Malthus’ theory became known as Malthusianism.
If climate is Tom Steyer’s #1 priority why does he live in a mansion? He’s a billionaire why isn’t he using his money to show us how to live a low carbon lifestyle in a small house?
Oh right. The western democracies are being sabotaged by marxists/socialists, and driving cars, heating homes & having children is the problem.
Look at the squirrel!
If Steyer is the biggest proponent of climate alarmism, then he has presented himself as the biggest and most gullible fool in the race. It’s hard to out-dumb most of them, but he did it.
What a maroon!
