Climate models predict disaster – but real world evidence shows no such thing
Dr. Jay Lehr & Tom Harris
Speaking at the 13th International Conference on Climate Change, held July 25 in Washington, DC, Dr. Roy W. Spencer of the University of Alabama in Huntsville said: “There is no climate crisis. Even if all the warming we’ve seen in any observational dataset is due to increasing CO2 (carbon dioxide), which I don’t believe it is, it’s probably too small for any person to feel in their lifetime.”
And yet, that same month, Democrat Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Earl Blumenauer and Democrat Senator Bernie Sanders introduced a non-binding resolution that demands a “national, social, industrial and economic mobilization” – to “halt, reverse, mitigate and prepare for the consequences of the climate emergency, and to restore the climate for future generations.” Six Democrat presidential candidates immediately supported the resolution, as a way to spur “sweeping reforms” to stem a “dangerous rise in global temperatures.”
In their view, apparently, asserting a climate emergency makes it a reality and justifies national or even global control and transformation of our energy, social, industrial, economic, legal and social systems.
Thus, in an effort to drum up support for its costly “carbon tax,” the Liberal government of Canada has also declared a climate emergency. So has Britain’s Parliament, to back up a call by opposition Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn for “rapid and dramatic action” to protect the environment , following weeks of protests by the Extinction Rebellion climate movement, the Reuters News Agency reported.
The Climate Mobilization group proclaimed that “Over 790 local governments in 17 countries have declared a climate emergency and committed to action to drive down emissions at emergency speed.”
In considering whether this makes any sense, let’s take a page out of Blumenauer’s book and, as he put it, “tell the truth about the nature of this threat.”
The so-called emergency is based on nothing but the over-active imaginations of activists who put too much faith in computer model forecasts, while ignoring historic records and observational data that tell us nothing extraordinary or unprecedented is happening – and demonstrate that the models are wrong.
NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies asserts that between 1880 and 2017 there has been only slightly more than 1 degree C (1.8 F) rise in the so-called global average temperature, despite a supposed 40% rise in atmospheric CO2 concentration. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) database of state-wide extreme weather records, arguably the best of its kind in the world, shows that so far in 2019 only one weather record has been set: the lowest temperature in Illinois history.
In 2018, the only records set were: the largest hailstone in Alabama history; the most rainfall in a 24-hour period in Hawaii; and the most precipitation in one year in Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia. Many of these records broke, sometimes barely, records that had stood for many decades.
In 2017, the only record set was for the fastest wind gust in California. No records were set in 2016. In 2015, only two records: the most precipitation in a year in Arkansas and the largest hailstone in Illinois history. In 2014, only one record: the most rainfall in a 24-hour period in New York.
And so it goes, year after year, as we move into the past with the occasional state record set, as one would expect due to natural climate variability. In the first 18+ years of the 21st century, only two states recorded their maximum temperatures: South Carolina in 2012 and South Dakota in 2006. Contrast that with 1936, when 15 states set their all-time maximum temperature records.
Meanwhile, NOAA’s updated coastal sea level tide gauge data for 2016 show no evidence that the rate of sea level rise is accelerating. Seas are rising no faster than they have for many decades.
NOAA’s hurricane records go back to 1851. The data show that for almost 12 consecutive years – October 24, 2005 (after Wilma) until August 25, 2017 (Harvey) – not one major or moderate (Category 3-5) hurricane made landfall in the continental United States. That is the longest such period in history. In 2018, for the first time ever, not one “violent” (F4-5) tornado touched down in the United States.
To the great frustration of climate alarmists, the real-world instrumental record clearly shows that, not only is no climate emergency underway, but today’s climate is actually quite stable. Aside from the drive for world socialism, the climate scare is based on only one thing: computer model forecasts of what some say could happen someday if we do not restrict our use of fossil fuels to reduce CO2 emissions.
However, the models do not work. That’s because they focus predominantly on greenhouse gases, and because scientists do not understand planetary climate processes well enough to know what mathematical equations to program into the models. Observations demonstrate that the actual rate of warming between 1979 and 2017 is one-third of what the average of 102 different climate models predicted. In fact, that climate model average is now almost one full degree Fahrenheit above what satellites have measured!
It is also important to realize that your own local weather forecasts just one week ahead are accurate only half the time. Let’s drill a bit deeper into this scandal.
For the better part of three decades, governments have financed more than one hundred efforts to model our planet. They continue to do so even though none of the models has been able to recreate (hindcast) the known past, or after a decade of study accurately predict what was to happen just ten years later.
People are led astray, because generally speaking, the public has no clue what mathematical models actually are, how they work, and what they can and cannot do. To provide a simple insight into this complex subject, before we build airplanes or buildings, we make small scale physical models and test them against the stress and performances that will be required of them when they are actually built.
When dealing with systems that are totally beyond our control, we try to describe them with computer programs or mathematical equations that we hope may give answers to questions we have about how the system works today and in the future. We attempt to understand the variables that affect the system’s operation. Then we alter the variables and see how the outcomes are affected. This is called sensitivity testing and is the very best use of mathematical models.
Historically, we were never foolish enough to make economic decisions based on predictions calculated from equations we think might control how nature works. Perhaps the most active area for mathematical modeling is the economy and stock market. No one has ever succeeded in getting it right, and they have far fewer variables than Earth’s climate, which is governed by many powerful natural forces.
Yet, today, in the climate sphere, we are doing just that – and using the models to justify massive changes in our energy and economic systems. While no one knows all the variables affecting climate, there are likely hundreds of them. Here are some important factors for which we have limited understanding:
1) seasonal, annual and decadal changes in solar irradiation; 2) energy flows between the ocean and atmosphere; 3) energy flows between the air and land; 4) balance between Earth’s water, water vapor and ice; 5) the impacts of clouds, both trapping heat below and preventing solar radiation from reaching Earth; 6) understanding the planet’s ice; 7) changes in mass among ice sheets, seal levels and glaciers; 8) our ability to factor in hurricanes and tornadoes; 9) the impact of vegetation on temperature; 10) tectonic movements on ocean bottoms; 11) differential rotation between Earth’s surface and its core; and 12) solar system magnetic field and gravitational interactions.
Despite this vast uncertainty, today’s modelers claim they can forecast our planet’s climate for decades or even a century in the future – by looking primarily or solely at “greenhouse gases.” And they want our leaders to manage our energy, economic, agricultural, transportation and other systems accordingly.
Yes, there is a climate-related emergency. It is the threat to our way of life in the free democratic world – imposed on us by climate alarmists, many of whom do not really care about climate change, people or the environment. It is an assault no less frightening and damaging than the wars that have plagued mankind since the dawn of time. It’s time for people and governments to stand up to the power-hungry alarmists.

Excellent job…..
On the other side of the story, consider this. About 95% of the most brilliant minds on earth who study the physical world all their life believe strongly that climate change is real and that it’s mainly due to activities of humanity and industries. If I would tell you There’s quite a good chance that you’ll get hit by a car crossing the road by a factor of 5 out of 100. That is 1 out of every 20 trials. Then, I’m pretty sure you would highly consider not crossing, yet you can drive man kind to dire and irreversible consequences (yet it’s not a certaint, I agreey) but quite a chance there. Wouldn’t you consider changing your ways to alter the trajectory? Last word, I don’t like the categorization that all climate activists are power-driven. I met with many of them including myself. We have a pretty good life, and nothing to complain about. The problem is, we’re not going to suffer the consequences right now, but it’s our children and grandchildren. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not about saving “earth”, yet, life on earth will take a hit and will recover in the 1000’s of years to come. The main issue here is human civilization the way we know it. This article just forgot to mention hurricane Dorian. Thanks and keep posting, but remember I’m just a concerned citizen who help people on daily bases and I don’t want to be categorized as power-driven. I took many commitments on my own to reduce my own carbon footprint, you all can do it too. Thanks again.
Hussam taha…. I was terrified of all the climate change talk, then I found this site. I refuse to watch the news any more due to seeing no solutions, no change! Look up the multimillion pound climate meeting google paid for in Sicily, obama, and other celebrities flew their and traveled in diesel powered boats, the latest salt lake u.n “climate meeting” of 4000 people, was the same, they all flew there. Greta took a fossil fuel made boat across the Atlantic, yet four people will fly to the usa to sail the boat back… she will most probably fly back to… Oh, Obama just bought a house in Marthas vin yard, at almost sea level.. meat consumption is up, and even extinction rebellion had to use diesel generators at their Manchester meeting, yet they demand the whole of the uk must go green within five years….. The green revolution will cost usa tax powers Trillions of dollars… The total destruction of the planet to mine the materials needed for wind and solar is absolutely disgusting… There is no mention or support for carbon capture technology, which, carbon engineering ltd has proven can produce ultra low fuel for cars and planes… I have come to realise that the natural world has always had a changing climate, the usa heat wave in 1930 is never spoken of! The more you read the more you realise it is a scam, a trillions of dollar scam… Also, al gore has become very rich from climate change, yet still probably eats meat, flys every where and takes taxis, cars to travel, the last time I looked, he didn’t even have solar panels on his house…. They expect us to give up everything while they enjoy the best the world has to offer…
You’re deluded Hussam. The incidence of damaging hurricanes is in a steep decline and our grandchildren are far more likely to face natural cycles of much colder temperatures than any other scenario.
Nothing that you might be doing to make yourself feel virtuous is actually having the slightest effect on the climate. You’re welcome to your religion but I’ll thank you not to push it on me. Carbon is life. Carbon is good.
1. Where do you get information that 95% of the brightest minds are saying such?
2. The world’s brightest have been wrong over and over and over… Remember Al Gore? Remember the UN in 1989 saying things were all doom by 2000?
3. Remember other times a “consensus” was wrong? People being witches. Hitler being a good guy? The sun revolving around the world? Only 4000 stars? The world is flat? Remember when NASA thought Armstrong might sink into the moon?
Jeremiah Puckett
Are you really counting Al Gore one of the brightest minds on earth? I mean, if he is, he´s hiding it exquisitely well.
“About 95% of the most brilliant minds on earth who study the physical world all their life believe strongly that climate change is real and that it’s mainly due to activities of humanity and industries.”
Climatologists are a self-selected sample of alarmists and finger-pointers. IOW, the established scientists in other disciplines who jumped aboard the bandwagon, and students, were very likely persons strong marinated in ecological memes like “two legs bad, four legs good,” and a blf that “the earth is fragile.”
“If I would tell you There’s quite a good chance that you’ll get hit by a car crossing the road by a factor of 5 out of 100. That is 1 out of every 20 trials. Then, I’m pretty sure you would highly consider not crossing,”
I’d look at whether that was the actual pedestrian accident rate. (My response the thw “what-if-a-doctor-told-you x” argument is that A) I’d look at their predictive record in the past, and B) I wouldn’t accept their advice if it was to bleed me.
“I don’t like the categorization that all climate activists are power-driven.”
I agree.
“I took many commitments on my own to reduce my own carbon footprint, you all can do it too. ”
Nothing we inhabitants of the developed world can do will affect future temperatures significantly. 84% of the increase in CO2 emissions comes from the developing world, and will continue to do so. Why ruin our economies trying to bail out a boat while they are drilling holes in it?
Quote from Hussam: * yet, life on earth will take a hit and will recover in the 1000’s of years to come*
[response: apparently you are unaware of how close we are to the next c 100,000-year ice age]
“There’s quite a good chance that you’ll get hit by a car crossing the road by a factor of 5 out of 100. That is 1 out of every 20 trials. Then, I’m pretty sure you would highly consider not crossing.” But neither would I consider not leaving the house or never buying food a solution. But yet, starving the world’s population seems to be the proposed solution. Btu more importantly your statement of chance of being hit by an automobile while crossing the road is highly inflated, just as is the supposed warming. Such obvious propaganda ploys are best ignored!
“I don’t like the categorization that all climate activists are power-driven” It’s not that they are power driven, it’s that they have devoted their lives, education and careers to a belief in climate catastrophe and their commitment to “save the Earth”. Sounds like a deep basis for confirmation bias to me. And there’s no doubt that the politicians are in it for power.
“I met with many of them including myself.” Indicating that you suffer from confirmation bias too and cannot be accepted as unbiased.
“I’m just a concerned citizen who help people on daily bases and I don’t want to be categorized as power-driven.
Of course you’re not driven by power; you have none and never will. You are one of the nobodies, living in sacrificial obedience to a holy, unassailable cabal who took a vote of climate catastrophists conducted by climate activists. The Global Warmist equivalent of the Nicene Council, if you will.
“I took many commitments on my own to reduce my own carbon footprint, you all can do it too.”
Thanks for the invite, but CAGW is your religion, not mine. The “Carbon Footprint” meme is cleverly chosen to inflict a sense of guilt for merely conducting a humble but comfortable life. “Carbon” is soot. (CO2 is a transparent gas.) A footprint is an indentation in the dirt. The “carbon footprint” mantra is intended to convey an image that you are punching black holes into the earth with every step you take, and the only solution is to stand still.
You are being duped, and it isn’t fair. Not to you, not to any well-meaning wretch who just wants to do the right thing.
Hussam Taha
It´s good to think our children. That car crossing strawman is a real danger. Climate is not. When you read news, you read climate propaganda. It´s not real, it´s brainwash. And that is destroying yours and your childrens mind. If you really think your children, tell them truth and fight to save their mind.
You don´t like the categorization that all climate activists are power-driven. In history this kind of behaving has always had very serious consequences. This is exactly the same road to hell as Hitler, Stalin etc. have shown us. This is clearly visible, you can see it if you look.
Think and don´t walk that road.
Look at the data yourself. 1° up over 140 years on an average temperature of about 15-16 degrees. And that is including the warming effect of concrete, asphalt, and other city life affecting the measurement stations, and the natural warming as we continue to come out of the Little Ice Age. (Greenland glaciation ended much higher north 1000 years ago and people were happily farming in Iceland)
Go ahead, be more efficient and frugal, but don’t impose poverty on the world based on a scary fairy tale.
Hey space x has room if ya hurry .one way special. Just dont burn your hair it can determine everthing you have ever polluted .for Jesus’s to judge .every post ignores thousands of deaths in Bahamas and 70,000 homeless. This just promotes more self serving ignorace. . Pray like on bow of titanic’s sinking.
We have year by year estimates of worldwide emissions and we have what are supposed to be actual historical CO2 PPM counts. Has anyone ever tied the two together to see if CO2 levels are linear or even cumulative to the emission numbers? Would be interesting to see if there strong or weak correlation.

Crisis? What Crisis?
“There is no climate crisis.”
Does that mean we can all cancel lighting our hair on fire and dancing around in circles, waiting for the world to end?
“Does that mean we can all cancel lighting our hair on fire and dancing around in circles, waiting for the world to end?”
No, Burning Man is still a go.
Yup, the countercultural burning man festivities were business as usual, leaving behind a legacy of tens of thousands of 5 mpg junker RVs idling in line for hours, black smoke spiraling skyward from a pagan pyromaniacal ritual, and a mountain of cheap bikes that will end up in a landfill.
If you’re going out in a world on fire, might as well light a few matches of your own.
We can also abort the planned human sacrifices, a wicked solution normalized for the sake of social progress, democratic leverage, and the Gaian cult.
From this excellent article:
Speaking at the 13th International Conference on Climate Change, held July 25 in Washington, DC, Dr. Roy W. Spencer of the University of Alabama in Huntsville said: “There is no climate crisis. Even if all the warming we’ve seen in any observational dataset is due to increasing CO2 (carbon dioxide), which I don’t believe it is, it’s probably too small for any person to feel in their lifetime.”
Roy Spencer is correct – there is NO CLIMATE CRISIS.
Competent scientists have known this fact for decades. In a written debate in 2002 sponsored by APEGA and co-authored on our side by Dr. Sallie Baliunas, Dr. Tim Patterson and me, we concluded with confidence:
http://www.friendsofscience.org/assets/documents/KyotoAPEGA2002REV1.pdf
“Climate science does not support the theory of catastrophic human-made global warming – the alleged warming crisis does not exist.”
As the evidence of global warming alarmism and climate change catastrophes has failed to appear, the global warming acolytes have become more and more hysterical in their wild claims. Remember when they said “the heart was hiding in the oceans”? That was a good one – be very afraid!

TRM : Re: “Heat hiding in the deep oceans ..”
Hidden by whom?
Suspects include Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. The IPCC believes the Easter Bunny is the most likely culprit, because he does hide things….
____________
The above comment is no more foolish that everything the IPCC has published to date.
There is NO evidence that ECS is above 1C, and it is probably much less, so small as to be insignificant.
There is in reality NO global warming crisis – it is a figment of overheated imaginations – a chimera that has been created by self-serving scoundrels and believed in by gullible imbeciles, and has cost society tens of trillions of dollars in wasted subsidies, destabilized critical energy systems and cost lives.

And Santa will drown with the polar bears as the ice melts, and the Easter Bunny will choke on a jellybean.

Steven, it was dumb the first time you said it, no need to repeat it….
Candidate Biden PROMISED to completely eliminate Fossil Fuels by 2050. I should -just- still be alive in 2050 (age 94) when I freeze to death in my government mandated ‘tiny home’. Such joy to look forward to.
I don’t think Biden will be around in 2027, …… and for sure not in 2050.
Kenji
I as thinking the same thing about Hussam Taha above. When he dies from chronic under-heating caused by his efforts to reduce his carbon footprint, we will bury him and he really will have reduced the carbon. A body burned (and not cremated) sequesters multiple kg of carbon in the earth for perhaps a few centuries.
We all have to do out little bit.
The Climate Liars now are so desperate, and let’s face it, evil, that they use any and all weather-related disasters (i.e., things that have always happened) as “proof” that we have a “climate emergency”, and that “people are dying because of it”. They literally have no shame.
Succinctly put.
The climate idiots want their contrived “climate crisis” to be treated like WW2 mobilization of the American public and the state.
A huge part of WW2 mobilization and restructuring centered around rationing and rationing coupon books. My Dad still has his Mother’s collection of ration book from 1942-1945.
Almost everything was rationed. Gasoline, flour, sugar, almost all the basic commodities people then used in their homes and daily lives. People who could began growing “victory gardens” to have enough vegetables and produce to feed their families as so much comerical production was going to feed an rapidly expanding Army, Navy, Marines cadre of millions of soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen around the world including massive shipments of food (not just trucks and petroleum fuels) to England and Russia.
Today our grocery stores (in the US Canada at least) are a miracle of capitalism with the endless variety that awaits the American shopper when they walk in. Affordable food and beverages of all kinds, multiple choices for almost everything (My favorites: At least 120 different brands of frozen pizzas and then 3, 4, 5, or 6 different kinds of pizza within each brand, dozens of different kinds of beers, hundreds of different kinds of wine, even at least 2 or 3 different brand of simple sugar and flour, and then there’s an “organic” choice for almost everything too, Such variety driven by a free market) that anyone can buy as much as they want, even with EBT cards becasue we are a caring generous society. No limits on what someone can buy. No rationing, only what one’s wallet can spare.
So when you hear some climate change idiot talk about how we need a “WW2-like mobilization” to fight imaginary Climate Change, ask that idiot if they understand “rationing” and that they want to tell households across America that they politically want to impose food rationing like WW2 on everyone.
Let’s see how long it takes the American voting public to reject these climate idiots who demand rationing like WW2.
JOEL:
But it’s the carbon dioxide “pollution” from fossil fuel burning that’s the #1 problem. So let’s just start with rationing gasoline….no need for trillion $$$ proposals for whatever the New Green Deal wants. Let’s see if the public will go along with good old fashioned rationing of just one thing…gasoline, to fight the “climate emergency”.
Yes let’s give Tom Steyer, Michael Bloomberg, Al Gore, and all the elitists with fleets of Luxury cars and multiple private jets the same fossil fuel rations that the middle class family would get, and no more.
See how long the climate scam lasts then.
Or alternatively, DC politicians bought by billionaires allow those billionaires to buy as many “extra” fuel rations as the want while the Average Joe can get no extra gasoline rations, and see how long it is before tens of 1,000’s of Average Joes with AR-15’s show up in DC and put an end to the socialism and corrupt cronyism.
No lets just ration them, so that they can show us all how it is done.
Heck, didn’t some university intellectual recently recommend cannibalism because global warming? How about a nicely smoked and grilled leg of Bloomberg to save the planet? I’m sure there will be plenty of Gore serve a large group.
/SARC 😉
“People who could began growing “victory gardens””
Not much chance of that nowadays – certainly in the UK. The average “garden” provided with new-builds is just a patch of turf barely large enough to park a car on, and most are so hemmed in by other properties they get precious little sunlight. Older (and larger ) houses with bigger gardens fall victim to extensions or subdivision for extra properties. This will only get worse as the implementation of Agenda 2030 pushes people out of the country and into congested cities.
“Almost everything was rationed. Gasoline, flour, sugar”
And that is why I detest the taste and smell of molasses till this very day, …. 74 years after the fact.

A section of ‘How to lie with maps’ by Mark Monmonier struck a chord in relation to this article:
“Experts are not without bias, particularly the flamboyant ones eagerly promoting a vaguely defined model or index that in an earlier era might feel of snake oil. Sceptical viewing is especially prudent for narratives by authors pursuing (or likely to pursue) a particular political or disciplinary agenda.
The wary viewer can,of course, compared graphic scripts from diverse experts in much the same way that the conscientious journalist seeks a balanced mix of opposing opinions.
Viewers should be suspicious of systems that present processed data as irrefutable facts and forbid interference with the narrative’s progress. The conscientiously curious viewer needs to stop, think, back up, and probe the data interactively. Access to raw data is essential, for instance, in a scripted presentation of an environmental impact statement….
Because maps can be strongly persuasive, the graphic narrative is a potent rhetorical weapon. Odds are, though, that at least some viewers – informed sceptics like you – will not be so readily convinced. As display systems become more flexible, and more like video games, users must be wary that maps, however realistic, are merely representations, vulnerable to bias both in what they show and what they ignore. Skepticism is especially warranted when a dynamic map supporting a simulation model pretends to describe the future. Although electric cartography may make complex simulations easier to understand, no one should trust blindly a map that acts like a crystal ball.’
Surely just as relevant with climate science as map making.
“..It is an assault no less frightening and damaging than the wars that have plagued mankind since the dawn of time. It’s time for people and governments to stand up to the power-hungry alarmists…”.
I totally agree. I am still waiting for the leaders of govt in the USA and the rest of the world to start standing up to this idiocy.
MOST of the so-called ‘climate scientists’ have degrees in either Liberal Arts or perhaps World History. In other words, they are NOT scientists! Oh, but they hope YOU will believe that they are! Most people are clueless and ignorant about science. This even though most of them had at least one semester of science in high school or maybe two or three in college. And of course they never read anything else about science in the newspapers or magazines. My theory is that MOST people are far from being a s dumb as the media, and the ‘scientists’ think they are. Open your eyes, look around you. Does this look like the world is going to end any time soon, say in LESS than about 5 Billion years? The seas are NOT rising! The Arctic is NOT melting! Polar bears are NOT going extinct! And, lastly, the atmosphere is NOT warming! The only thing we might have to be concerned with is that the next Ice Age is overdue! Now, THAT might be something for us to worry about, say in, oh I don’t know, maybe the next thousand years or so, give or take a few! In the meantime, smell the roses, enjoy your life, and stop worrying.
It is not whether one has a science degree that is related to climate or not that is decisive. What matters is that one is able to think and reason carefully and logically and has an adequate frame of reference to evaluate climate claims. The best scientists can be totally illogically in certain circumstances while a non scientist can sometimes give a well reasoned and accurate response.
Right on, Michael, ……. “common sense” is a nurtured trait during early adolescent years and can not be learned during one’s later schooling years.
While I agree to an extent, I have seen the drivel that passes for “logic” in the liberal arts curriculum. Most of those graduates look like the deer I almost hit on the highway last night any time math or any science beyond absolute basic concepts is mentioned. The problem seems to be that the part of the brain that deals with connecting cause and effect in the real world seems atrophied in most practitioners of the “liberal arts”. It has been taken over by social justice whiners almost exclusively. (There are a few rare exceptions who could have done well in any field.) When emotions are used as a substitute for rational thought, nothing of substance ensues.
Hey space x has room if ya hurry .one way special. Just dont burn your hair it can determine everthing you have ever polluted .for Jesus’s to judge .every post ignores thousands of deaths in Bahamas .
Give it a rest numbnuts troll.
Can’t you even come up with a different comment?
Nobody likes to see hurricanes cause death and destruction, but they are part of nature and far less frequent even than just a few decades ago.
THE LATEST: DORIAN DEATH TOLL RISES TO 44 IN BAHAMAS
https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/latest-local-international-aid-dorian-65468743
That is, to date Hurricane Doran has caused 44 deaths in the Bahamas – sad but true.
Steven Ionien wrote: “every post ignores thousands of deaths in Bahamas.”
Lessons for Steven Ionien concerning your innumeracy:
Innumeracy is like illiteracy, but with numbers – Steven you clearly do not understand numbers.
For example Steven, 44 is less than “thousands”, it is even not greater than “hundreds”; in fact, it is “tens”.
Thousands are beaucoup bigger than 44 Steven, beaucoup-beaucoup-beaucoup bigger than 44.
For example, Excess Winter Deaths in the USA average about one-hundred-thousand per year.
The fact is, 100,000 is 2272 TIMES larger than 44. What that means is you would have to have over 2272 Hurricane Dorians to equal the death toll of just one typical winter in the USA. So Steven, while you should not go for a walk in a hurricane, you should really-really-really avoid going for a walk in winter – you should stay indoors, and probably not get out of bed – it’s not safe!
Just kidding Steven, you can go for a walk in winter, but be sure to wear your galoshes. 🙂
The minute this guy starts expressing temperatures in °F you can tell it’s gonna be a feast of [pruned].
[Degrees F are allowed. Not recommended, but allowed out loud. .mod]
You tell them, Allan M, ……. I stutter. ha
Steven Ionien could be one of the millions that will cry, shout, criticize, badmouth, etc., ….. the once-in-a-lifetime mass shooting that occurred in Texas, Florida, etc., that involves white European-Americans …….. but avert their eyes and their mind to the repeating-holiday-weekends of mass shootings that occur in Chicago that primarily involves black African-Americans.
R Terrell,
I agree with your overall advice to stop worrying and enjoy life, but when I see skeptics make claims that are false, I think it’s necessary for our credibility that we challenge them.
The seas are currently rising at a slow and steady pace, a natural effect as we recover from the last ice age. Arctic sea ice is in a period of lower than normal extents. The global-average temperature has recently been slightly warmer.
The defensible claims would be:
Sea level rise is NOT accelerating! Arctic conditions are no different from what was seen periodically in the past, most recently in the early twentieth century! Polar bears are THRIVING! And, lastly, the atmosphere is NOT as warm as it was in the 1930s.
“MOST of the so-called ‘climate scientists’ have degrees in either Liberal Arts or perhaps World History. In other words, they are NOT scientists!”
Care to back up that claim?
The real emergency is the Borg-like collective that has been created in our midst that wants to destroy our civilization.
Spencer was very forceful when he spoke in Washington in July — but he is no denier (nor am I). Spencer is a pragmatic scientist working with the data he is charged with maintaining and analyzing — the UAH satellite atmospheric temperatures.
The quote in the essay is correct. He does not believe all the warming is due to CO2 and he does not believe there is any climate crisis or emergency.
His data shows, and he speaks bluntly about it, that temperatures have rising over the satellite era.
His presentation is available at YouTube
” he does not believe there is any climate crisis or emergency.”
In the eyes of the establishment, that makes him a denier, regardless of what he thinks.
Try telling that to Minister Catherine McKenna.

Better hurry, after October 21 she may well be unemployed.
But until then, we should have respect for our democratically elected officials. Don’t be a nut bar.
And you believe her – just before an election? Interesting!
Every vote has shown that real people know this stuff is a scam. The real emergency is how are we to feed the kids when these wally wackers use every trick in the book to stop us!
“There is no climate crisis. Even if all the warming we’ve seen in any observational dataset is due to increasing CO2 (carbon dioxide), which I don’t believe it is, it’s probably too small for any person to feel in their lifetime.”
If climate alarmists were honestly concerned about both science and the climatic zones in our world, they would be prepared to consider the above claim by Dr. Spencer, seek to verify his claim and then allow scientific conclusions to guide them in their climate discussions and actions.
Using the so called climate crisis, the UN and others are attempting a
coup de tar on the whole world.
The importance of seal levels is greatly underrated. This is a direct control knob on the polar bear population.
The global importance of polar bear population is greatly overrated
No, the only control knob on the polar bear population are guns. See

So who are responsible for this scam? The UN may be spearheading it but who put them in power to do so? I don’t remember that being part of their charter. You must admit the CC alarmism propaganda is constant and seems effective to a certain degree but it’s too planned and controlled to be a coincidence. The Marx brothers never went away, they just went underground and their ideology is being manifested in CC alarmism. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it.
Who is responsible ? 1.Media seeking readership with bleeding leading story lines. 2.Politicians seeking election by virtue signalling 3.Revenue departments seeking tax dollars. 4.Govt employed scientists seeking continued employment 5.Movie stars seeking free advertising. 6.Do-gooder’s seeking their 15 minutes of fame 7.Enviro-orgs seeking more presses of the “donate” button on their website. 8.Business interests seeking profits from “green” product lines. It is difficult to fight such a large entourage of motivated people.
Correct answer DM
The conspiracy of aligned self-interests
Media is so full of this crap every day that almost everybody is fed up. More and more people (redgreens are not people) see that this whole alarm is pure propaganda. It´s not working anymore. It´s a joke now. Enough is enough.
UN is politicians playground. IPCC is their toy. There must be a very good reason to save the world. And they found it.
We must get rid of UN. Now. It´s a troublemaker. Has been, and still is.
10, 20, 100 degree temperature swings. Welcome to our blue marble. That said, climate change ebbs and flows with a multidecadal frequency. Anthropogenic forcings, local, perhaps regional effects, redistributed, moderated on a global basis. The end is not nigh. We are more likely to meet the Vogons first.
The UN might as well BE the Vogons.
We are the Borg…..You will assimilate…resistance to the U.N is futile ! : )
Over the last 120 years, we humans have made great strides in our ability to survive and thrive no matter what nature has thrown at us. Deaths due to severe weather have plummeted. Starvation deaths are a fraction of the death rate in 1900. We have more food and more shelter than ever before. The biggest natural killer, cold, has been thwarted, largely with the use of fossil fuels.
Now, the biggest threat we face is not from nature, like it used to be, but from our fellow humans. And the type of human that poses the biggest threat is the kind that wants to control their fellow humans, usually with fear and intimidation. Unlike climate change, which has yet to cause any discernible harm, man’s inhumanity to man is writ in large, bloody letters across the pages of our history.
There is no climate emergency, but we are on the brink of a social/political/economic emergency!
Hmmm.. No, I’m not saying this to cheer you up:
the biggest threat is the overuse of antibiotics (both in animals and in humans) that has selected out resistant bacteria. Phages and new antibiotics will provide some defense, but billions will die of infection.
The second biggest threat is, as you suggest, the censorship ‘for your own good’ that keeps the Government propaganda machinery working smoothly.
Additional threats from Climate Change are insignificant compared to the threats from weather that we already know of.
. “The conscientiously curious viewer needs to stop, think, back up, and probe the data interactively.“ Something the vast majority of the climate alarmists are unwilling or totally incapable of doing. What are they going to believe, their own eyes (the lack of any significant changes in the world around us predicted by the alarmists 30 years ago) or that beautifully constructed, animated, computer graphic that ‘proves’ that unless we give them trillions of dollars to fight climate change, destroying our way of life, we are doomed. I for one would rather be doomed ( unlikely ) by whatever minuscule change in the overall climate of the earth than having someone, anyone who has no scientific background (politicians) tell me how I can go about living my life
I have tried commenting a number of times. I fill in my name and email (I don’t have a website). Check both boxes and hit post comment. My comment disappears never to be seen again. I am using an iPad. No special formatting, no foul or hateful language. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I love this website and feel the above article summarizes my feelings about climate alarmism to a T. If someone reads this and can help, please email me. Thanks

Well, you got through that time. Be aware, though, that there is a delay between posting and seeing the results. Try waiting for about an hour then reloading and then looking for it.
Good luck.
New comments post around 5 minutes after the top of the hour….(unless you are permanently in the “Dog House” like me…then it can take up to 8 hours…arrrgg..)
Ohhhhh yes there is!
(in the great British panto tradition…)
And now for the real news, ENSO meter has gone negative.
Follow the $ its beginning to end . oil era betz limits false claim all windmills are the same in 1919.no concideration for invention this self serving phyics law stands as proof that energy corruption rules this land . Over million hits in search results. Electronics for frictionless magnetic bearings are prevented to enrich oil policy makers. Nuclear interest have enmence influance in america politics that are pacifying the release of all the highly radiated cooling water instead of a solution. In japans triple meltdowns .einestines equal and opposite reactions produce light speeds and infinite values .that is naturaly free energy and difficult to profit from .unless life itself is pofit.
The gig is up. Well, nearly up. Almost.
We are at peak alarmism. There’s not much more panicky to get, is there? Googley-eyes said we only have 12 years left. The fake Irish-Mexican said we have 10. The rich Asian kid who likes math said it’s too late and we need to head for higher ground. CNN hosted a 7-hour Climate Scarathon that nobody watched, but snippets of it have been forever archived on YouTube for endless replay. Academics are recommending that we consider eating one another if we want to survive the coming climate apocalypse. A delusional preteen who says she sees carbon atoms has a cult following and is treated with the respect historically reserved for heads of state. A crazy coot communist from Vermont wants to abort Africa because, well, crazy leftists ALWAYS want to abort large numbers of people. Sometimes it’s French nobility. Sometimes it’s Jews. Sometimes it’s poor Asian farmers in French Indo-China.
And that’s the real “crisis” here. Leftists constitute a death cult. Leftists aren’t happy unless large numbers of people are miserable, and won’t be satisfied until 2/3 of the human population are dead. They don’t care how – abortion, euthanasia, disease, war, starvation, exposure. Whatever works. The current plan is to deprive the world’s poor from access to cheap energy so they’ll freeze to death in winter.
