President Macron’s G7, which was intended to focus on environmental issues, has been declared a failure because President Trump didn’t attend the climate meeting centrepiece.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres expressed hope that the UN could bypass President Trump by working directly with American local authorities.
One empty chair at G-7 climate meeting: Trump’s
By SYLVIE CORBET and DARLENE SUPERVILLEBIARRITZ, France (AP) — U.S. President Donald Trump skipped a discussion on climate with other world leaders at the Group of Seven summit in France — then claimed to “know more about the environment than anyone.”
Trump left an empty chair as global power brokers debated Monday how to help the fire-stricken Amazon and reduce carbon emissions.
“I’m an environmentalist,” Trump told reporters, even as he celebrated America’s oil and gas wealth.Environmental activists declared the summit a failure, marching to demand tougher global emissions rules and more aid for the Amazon.
…
U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres – who attended Monday’s climate talks – expressed hope that Americans themselves would help fight climate change even if their president doesn’t.
“I am very optimistic about American society and its capacity to deliver in relation to climate action,” he told reporters afterward. “What matters here is to have a strong engagement of the American society and of the American business community and the American local authorities.”

I wonder why the non-attendance of one President considered such a disaster by global environmentalists and world leaders?

So they hate the man think he is an idiot and yet because he didn’t show up to a meeting he would have dominated and shown for the waste of time that it was they are angry at him? Did I get that right?

You beat me to it. LOL
Cursed posting delay. 🙂
“BIARRITZ, France (AP) — U.S. President Donald Trump skipped a discussion on climate with other world leaders at the Group of Seven summit in France”
As he’s been called various names from a Nazi to a Fascist (both of which are left wing so no idea how they figure that one out) to fat, orange, idiot, fool, bully, stupid, uneducated, womaniser, misogynist, cheat, rapist and, of course, climate denier, what possible reason could he find to attend a meeting where everyone obviously hates him?
“then claimed to “know more about the environment than anyone.””
Being that he actually takes the time to question the orthodoxy, relative to the people in that meeting, he’s almost certainly right.
Blind slavish acceptance of anything is hardly a desirable quality but Macron et al consider it a virtue, just like Jack Booted members of the SS.
“then claimed to “know more about the environment than anyone.””
This could be part of his Troll master class. i.e. just to get the msm heads exploding all over the place. Trump must love the sound of exploding heads, he does it so well and so often.
Thank God for President Donald Trump! Long may he serve.
i hope so
abc aus stated that 46% or polled persons want Trump out next election
bet they asked the socialist uni students or the abc staff;-))
its not our horse or race and most people couldnt give a rats about usa in Aus
we DO get pi**ed off when your pollies and lobbyists and biz interests start interfering in OUR biz though
Bank of England chief Carney chose the moment to call for getting rid of the Dollar, with a new world currency, a digital version of Lord Keynes’ Bancor refused already by FDR.
Looks like Zuck’s bucks, the Libra, has been hijacked by the SHC.
You see, this is necessary to turn the world green to its roots, elected governments are in the way!
Was Macrons G7 Amazon ploy a stalking horse?
Right at that moment Chancellor Merkel said no more bird feed, now open the floodgates.
You could not make this stuff up. Let some candidate run with the SHC – Bernie maybe with his GND?
See Greta’s greenness now?
Anyway an empty chair speaks a thousand words.
What will China say about this Synthetic Hegemonic Currency, I wonder? the wonders of Modern Monetary Theory! The green SHC is’nt even a gold reserve, rather a green reserve, a cornucopia.
/sarc joggled at will.

Ironic really. The worlds single most important currency is the Greenback.
Here is what Boris needs to fund his very necessary massive projects : The UK Bradbury Pound.
https://www.ukcolumn.org/bring-back-the-bradbury
Very close affinity to the Greenback. The UK desperately needs real productive investment, not a City of London green boondogle.
Pres. Trump needs quickly to look up Alexander Hamiltons credit system, the Greenback, and Glass-Steagall before the FED, as former NY Fed Duncan Dudley just said, decides the election.
It’s always insightful to see what the UN is really up to behind the curtains and what wealth grab and sacrifice they have in mind for each and everyone of us with the aid of our local governments. So much for the old Clinton political phrase that all politics are local. This one is clearly top down with local partisan tools implied.
“Fixing this immediate crisis will require money. Who’s got money?” [the six other G-7 members stare at Trump]
Thankfully, Trump saw the trap and passed.

Since the UN Secretary General is addressing all American society other than President Trump he could at least address the dropping of climate change from the Democrat’s debate agenda. I guess he also has a back door plan their like the Democrats. Did Biden advise him on the writing that statement?

English “Anti-Brexit” (watermelons) heads are exploding…
Mark Broderick
The lady of girth has yet to exercise her vocal chords.
However……..I anticipate her rejoicing bellow for a ‘clean break’ Brexit on the 31st of October when we are once again able to fully trade with our real allies – The Citizens of America, the Commonwealth and the 120 or so other countries in the world that do not form part of the undemocratic, bureaucratic European Union.
I look forward to ‘chlorinated’ chicken. At last I’ll be able to buy fowl that leaves the shop I bought it from free of salmonella and safe for consumption, which is what the public expect.
That’s not what we get from the EU. A study found that 50% of chicken carcasses sold in stores across the region were sold with traces of salmonella in them. The advice being, ‘make sure you cook the chicken properly’ thereby absolving the supply chain from any responsibility and handing it directly to the consumer.
I suspect there’s few countries in the world where it’s citizens consume more fried chicken than America, and I don’t hear of a health epidemic because of it.
And I really, really look forward to having the choice of driving a Buick or a Lincoln rather than a Mercedes or a BMW.
More than anything else though, I really want to see the UK rediscover some of the bloody minded defiance we shared with America many years ago.
I wan’t us to find the fierce desire for independence that has seen us fight monumental battles with tyrannical opposition; just as the US fought against British imperialism, since long before we saw off Napoleon, the Spanish Armadas, and Germany twice (with allied help) in living memory.
The UK and the USA – An irresistible force.
.Very well stated HotScot…I’ve had my share of “Hot Scotts” in the past and she had a mean left hook !
Won’t be sampling that for a while…..lol
you might have to remove a lot of the EU immigrants and those that wandered in while the portcullis was down though before old England gets any gumtion back..theyre a fair percentage of the remainer whingers Id guess..thweir easy street might be coming to a sudden halt.
That’s how environmental issues should be handled. If the individual is concerned about a problem, then they should put their money and their muscle on the line…not support efforts by their govt to force people to pay for environmental activities they either don’t want or can’t afford to support.
The empty chair symbolizes the triumph of rationality over irrationality, of democracy over a world-wide unelected state, and of truth over lies. We should cherish that empty chair as much as the spittle-flecked, hatred-spewing Greenies despise it. It represents freedom.
Keep in mind, what Trump withdrew us from (Paris) was Obama’s committment of!!! $100 BILLION per year for 10 years into a global climate change fund……..for an agreement that held NO committments, and would have projected NO impact to global average temperature!! It is ALL about money, power, and control, not some turning of the global thermostat. But only of the Western countries, especially the US. And yet, the US has reduced CO2 (if you worry about that) more than all the rest of the G7 combined, in the last 5 years or so. Failure indeed…………failure to suck more money out of the US.
The UN Green Climate Fund {The Fund has set itself a goal of raising $100 billion a year by 2020,}
“ in his final 3 days in office, Obama initiated the transfer of a second $500m installment to the fund,
Can anyone show where any of the money went, other than expenses by the folks going to fancy places and dining at expensive restaurants?
Who else has benefited?
“Greens call G7 a Failure Because Trump Skipped the Climate Change Meeting”
Jo Nova doesn’t, because
“G7 Success — leaders issue statement 54 times shorter — and climate sidelined”

The G7 Climate Change Meeting was a political and propaganda meeting not a scientific or economic meeting. The absence of President Trump was seen as a disaster by global environmentalists and world leaders because they had hoped for huge funding for their nonsense by the U.S.A. as in the days of Obama.
The G7 is an economic forum. Sensible of Trump to avoid the session on religious belief. In fact it is unconstitutional in the USA for State to favour any religion.
Our old friends the O’Jays sum up the meeting of the G7-minus-1 body, in simple terms understandable by all:

I would have gone with “Back Stabbers”… They smile in your face, when all they want to do is take your place.
Late to the game here, it seems at my place of work WUWT is blocked (again) for certificate issues, just now at the humble abode, fed, watered, and checking my favorite website…
In my opinion, the following statement:
Appears to be a plea to ‘local authorities’ in the US of A that have in fact signed on to the UN ICLEI – search for your municipality here:
https://iclei.org/en/members-search.html
And notwithstanding the legal statute listed by ATheoK above:

..If these cities wish to cut some hard cash out of their budgets and send it along to the UN through the ICLEI, well in U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ opinion, that’s A-OK.
If the taxpayers knew what the city leaders would be planning, and for what reason…I wonder what the reaction would be for most of the sane, based constituency??? I can hear it now..”You are doing WHAT with MY tax dollars?!?!”
Food for thought, hope someone is still tracking this thread…

Yours in WUWT,

509 days left for #OneTermTrump. Tick tock.
Keep stressing that Adrian. It will make Trump work harder to eliminate the destructive Obama legislation. Overturning EPA on water and, it seems on methane, and destroying the G7 nonsense suggests that he is beginning , at last , to motor. But let us not be complacent – keep putting the pressure on him-Tick tock.
“509 days left for Adrian Manns watermelon head to go….”Boom !”
Since the United States is the only country among the G7 to have lowered its CO2 emissions (thanks to fracked natural gas replacing coal in many power plants), President Trump didn’t need to be lectured about reducing CO2 emissions by countries whose emissions are rising. About the only thing we could do better would be build new nuclear power plants, like France has done (but Germany and Japan are shutting them down).
The UN wanted to by pass Trump to shove their globalist agenda on the free world .
Not a smart move , a bad read of the room .
Funding of the UN from the USA should be fully stopped till every laggard country has caught up
on decades of under payment .
