I’m not suggesting that normal climate activists advocate this kind of violence, more likely the insanity was there first, and the madmen fitted apocalyptic climate beliefs around their desire to cause harm.
Gunman’s left-wing views thwart Democratic efforts to pin mass shootings on Trump
By Valerie Richardson – The Washington Times – Updated: 7:51 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019
Democrats blaming President Trump for last weekend’s mass shootings saw their argument continue to unravel Tuesday as more details emerged indicating that the suspected gunmen held some avowedly left-wing views.Connor Betts, the 24-year-old suspect in the deadly shooting in Dayton, Ohio, expressed pro-antifa, pro-socialist and anti-ICE positions on a now-suspended Twitter account believed to be his, as well as support for Democratic Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
…
The El Paso suspect, 21-year-old Patrick Crusius, is believed to have authored a 2,300-word manifesto saying he was motivated by the “Hispanic invasion of Texas,” criticizing “race mixing,” and warning of “cultural and ethnic replacement.”
Along with such white-nationalist stances, however, are positions that would fit in with the agenda of the climate-change movement, including blasts at corporations, consumerism and environmental degradation.
“[O]ur lifestyle is destroying the environment of our country,” said the document. “The decimation of the environment is creating a massive burden for future generations. Corporations are heading the destruction of our environment by shamelessly overharvesting resources.”
…
The “next logical step is to decrease the number of people in America using resources,” said the document.
…
He said other mass shooters have also sounded “eco-terrorist” themes, including the gunman who killed 51 worshipers in March at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, and the 2011 Norway attacker who killed 77, both of whom also railed against immigration.

The Washington Times points out several Democrat challengers have been trying to pin recent mass shootings on President Trump, a cynical political ploy which is rapidly unravelling as more is learned about the beliefs the shooters expressed.
I have personally made the mistake in the past of trying to draw meaning from the irrational eco-terrorist rants of mass murderers. I am sorry for any upset I caused.
Frankly it is time everyone grew up and stopped trying to turn horrific acts of violence into a political point scoring opportunity. It is way too easy to fall into the trap of trying to use reason to explain the irrational. Trying to gain some kind of political advantage out of an interpretation of the statements of these murderers, I think this does a disservice to memory of their victims.
The shooters were insane or evil, first and foremost they wanted to hurt people. Anything else, the bizarre twisted eco-beliefs or hard left or other extreme beliefs they expressed, are just a symptom of that vicious desire to cause harm. I believe it is just chance that recent mass shooters fixated on eco-terrorist ideas, my belief is such people randomly accumulate whatever garbage is current news in their pressure cooker minds, then explode when they decide the time has come to hurt people.
The focus should be on preventing future acts of violence, figuring out how to identify and defuse or contain crazy people before they cause harm, not on scoring points over whatever insane babble the terrorists spouted before they went out and killed.
Reason versus emotion.
The reason it is hard to find a “conservative mass shooter” is simple,a reasonable person does not plan the murder of complete strangers and then attempt same.
What would be conserved?
Where as an emotionally disturbed person might.
The politicians get lower every year, just when you think they have gone as low as public tolerance will permit, they dig even deeper.
And our “progressive Comrades” are quite proud of their “playbook”, being power by any means possible.
The endless temper tantrum and sheer contempt for citizens who differ from their “ideal” by the Democrat/Media Party since 2016 has been most revealing.
Trump derangement Syndrome has been a wonderful spotlight.
Emotionally disturbed is the polite version of the hatred, venality and spite from our progressive comrades.
Young men are vulnerable to really bad ideas, the hate theatre of the power mad is aimed at inciting mad behaviour.
Adults know better, than to incite a mob to riot.
Emotional Thugs see riot as a means to power.
Our media, our entertainment industry and our fearless leaders all profit from the fine art of glorifying violence.
Then they condemn the young and stupid who believe them.
On the brightside I notice more citizens are identifying evil earlier and reacting to that evil rather than the lies.
We are from the government,we are here to help you!
Only we can run your life as it should be!
We know better than you!.
The heart of Gang green and it is a deathcult. For never do they cheer any extention of time before catastrophe, never do they celebrate the planet not warming at their predicted rate.
No cheering for the Greening of the SubSahara,no kudos for the polar bears 5 fold increase.
Just Doom,doom,anger,lust and hatred.
We can expect more, easily gulled children, to behave as these idiots have, because apocalyptic doom is all they hear being preached.
By our virtue signalling comrades.
it is possible we could stabilize social chaos,a little, by banishing the Cult of Calamitous Climate and all their fellow travellers to Gullibility Island, where they can live their dream.
There are some mighty fine Islands in the Arctic, where they can enjoy Global Warming.
Course what the advertising industry would do without them…
John Robertson, that was a beautifully written essay, chock full of social truth and facts, that can only be denied if one averts their eyes and their mind to its context/content.
I have a “gut feeling” that if the “powers-in-charge” don’t put a ‘STOP’ to the dastardly devious political “infighting”, ….. there will be “more blood on the streets” by November.
Local authorities have proven well prepared to handle these rare tragic events. The police, hospitals, courts and civilians near the events have responded well. President Obama argued that even international terrorism on our shores should be a police matter. If the US population were not so large, these rare events would not seem so common, but the chances of any one of us being victims of such an event is actually extremely small.
‘The focus should be on preventing future acts of violence, figuring out how to identify and defuse or contain crazy people before they cause harm’
False. Dangerously WRONG. That approach has failed and will always fail.
There is offense and there is defense. 325,000,000 citizens, tens of millions of invaders, and open borders, means that figuring out who might commit murderous offensive action is impossible. Trying to focus on the offensive side will always fail.
The Left doesn’t want you to be able to defend yourself, your family, or your community. They want you absolutely dependent on government. They want you disarmed. So they focus on preventing the offensive action. Which cannot possibly work. Somebody shoots people in El Paso, and they demand more gun control laws. Not because they care about the dead in El Paso, but because they want to curtail your right to own guns. El Paso and Dayton are OPPORTUNITIES.
The solution is to focus on the defensive side. What should have happened at El Paso and Dayton is that as soon as the perps started shooting, one or two armed citizens should have pulled their pistols and shot them 23 times. Turned them to hamburger.
Response must be IMMEDIATE. When someone is shooting innocent people, you don’t have minutes for the police to arrive. In fact, at the Parkland shooting, the policeman refused to take action while a gunman shot children.
“A mass shooting was carried out in Dayton, Ohio, United States, on August 4, 2019, at 1:05 a.m. EDT. Ten people were killed, including the perpetrator, and 27 others were injured (14 of the injured were injured by gunfire). The gunman was killed by police within 30 seconds of the first shots being fired.[5]” – Wiki
30 seconds reaction time IS NOT ADEQUATE. Nor can that be guaranteed.
Many areas of the U.S. now have people licensed to carry concealed weapons. The numbers are large enough that attacking the public is risky business. Yet we have government and private entities creating “gun free zones,” where only the bad guy has a gun. Government bans carrying in bars. Festival organizers declare their event “gun free.”
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/07/31/study-89-of-21st-century-mass-shootings-occurred-in-gun-free-zones/
There was a report of one concealed carrier trying to stop the El Paso Walmart shooter, but he failed. Generally, Walmart does not ban concealed carry.
We need an armed citizenry. Gunmen shooting into crowds should expect to be dead within 5 seconds. Once that happens just a few times, they’ll stop trying.
Defense is the answer. Citizens are the only ones who can provide the defense. On scene. On time.
Shur nuff, …… just like Oswald was shooting “rapid fire” with a bolt-action rifle when JFK was assassinated.
So, was the gunman “hiding” underneath a streetlight when he opened fire …… and why did he open fire with so many cops standing close by?
A curious mind wants to know.
“We need an armed citizenry. Gunmen shooting into crowds should expect to be dead within 5 seconds. Once that happens just a few times, they’ll stop trying.”
I agree.
Right, if they are dead in “5 seconds” ……. them and their Lawyers would not be able to enjoy the “benefits” of the shooters crime for the next 20 years or so.
In Canada the CBC has carefully tried to align the El Paso shootings with statements by Trump (which they do not cite) while never mentioning a word about the political leanings of the Ohio shooter.
They are intimating by repetition and association, that both shooters were far right wingnuts, but carefully not actually saying so. The usual tack would be to interview someone who “thinks it is so” and not rebut.
That one was a plain crazy political leftist and one a white nationalist (not sure why that is “right wing” instead of plain crazy) is studiously avoided and will remain so until it is sufficiently popularized on other media. Shameless. What a social embarrassment the CBC is. Independent investigation of truth is required, as usual.
There are many great injustices in the world, in society, and in most people’s personal lives.
The vast majority of people don’t respond to these great injustices with blind rage and violence. My problem with manifestos is that they are usually a consequence of someone being radicalized, not the cause. Most everyone could write a manifesto with a laundry list of all the great injustices that they feel strongly about, without the declaration of intent to harm others, of course.
It’s true that the particular details of what these particular mass murderers professed make it more difficult for one group of politicians or the other to politicize it in their favor, but that won’t stop both sides from trying. They’re politicians, it’s what they do every minute of every day.
We went through the kidnap for ransom era in the 30s, mad bomber era in the 60 and 70s, now we are in the mass shooter era, any guesses as to what the press will wind up the lunatics with next?
Regarding “The “next logical step is to decrease the number of people in America using resources,” said the document.
…
He said other mass shooters have also sounded “eco-terrorist” themes”:
If I read correctly where I saw this above, all of this came from the notably rightwing one of the two mass murderers being mentioned here. As in including, “other mass shooters have also sounded “eco-terrorist” themes” being a claim by the rightwing mass murderer.
I have noticed that most of the mass murder shootings and other high-body-count terroristic acts on US soil, and most of the body count from such terroristic acts on US soil, were committed by rightwing types such as white nationalists & supremacists and the like, or religious fundamentalists who disfavor freedom from (or even of) religion or other aspects of USA being a “free country” as I have heard described in the 1960s.
There are people with mental illness, using ADD related drugs, exposed to the full swathe of the internet etc etc in every developed nation. Many of those nations have poorer mental health provision or a greater number of people espousing liberal or eco causes than the USA.
Only in the USA are there this number of mass shootings.
The largest Army on the planet is the American People And considering how many guns are in America these events are actually rare. They also are hyped up for only political purposes.
Also most governments have far more control over their media, so these events maybe woefully under-reported.
You also never to rarely hear when a gun, the average citizen, was carrying or had access to saved a life or lives.
There was another event in Texas about year ago where lives were saved because a citizen with a legally owned firearm went into “Let’s Roll” mode.
Absolutely, the Left in the USA, aided by the Socialist Liberal Media, are pushing climate hopelessness to such a degree that many have given up and decided to take others with them through extreme actions.
Another view held by the left is overpopulation so these misdirected extremists are likely trying to “thin the herd”
You don’t take into account that the United States has the 3rd largest population in the world or that that the MSM doesn’t give Jack about what happens in the rest of the world (mostly). And you have selective memory. France has a LOT more mass shootings per capita than the United States. And it is organized terror groups, not isolated nut cases.
The human brain is an amazing construct. It enables the genius and the nutjob.
Political parties seeking power without regard for truth or justice is at the root of harmful politics. This has been clear since the Ancient Greeks’ democracy.
The Athenian Democracy in the Age of Demosthenes (1991, Blackwell) Mogen Herman Hansen
The quote from the El Paso shooter’s exact quote (masked curse words):
“I just want to say that I love the people of this country, but g** d*** most of y’all are just too stubborn to change your lifestyle. So the next logical step is to decrease the number of people in America using resources. If we can get rid of enough people, then our way of life can become more sustainable.”
Earlier, in his ethnic rant, he stated “… Of course these migrants and their children have contributed to the problem, but are not the sole cause of it.”
The point: While ranting against corporations and multi-culturalism and Hispanics and migrants he was chose to kill, indiscriminately, anyone in America because of their impact on sustainability. One concludes had it not been for the Green agenda he may have stopped at just ranting. And don’t forget that he favored universal national income as a solution.
If one reads the manifesto and the collective works of the extremists, they all have the themes of socialism, forced action by government (totalitarianism) and use of force as justified. Compare Antifas statements to the El Paso shooter to some of the Green statements side by side with Mein Kampf. Saying these folks suffer(ed) from mental illness is a stretch. The modern day Millennial shooters may have a valid mental argument (in court) if they were taking the host of mind-altering drugs proven in clinical trials to induce suicidal and homicidal tendencies from anti-depressants to those the attention deficit, et al. And the El Paso shooter works in the mental health professions.
Mental illness is a disease with many conflicts and inconsistencies…and now about as many conflicted interpreters.
And Thanos. Don’t forget Thanos. (Apologies for sarcasm, but when the Babylon Bee tries to do satire, it often just reports reality)
Saw a report that the recent manifesto may not be authentic. But …. There does seem to be a lot of terrrorism for cause by disturbed, powerless people looking for a reaction. Why wouldn’t “the environment” appeal to the deranged to be an excuse to get everyone talking about an issue having nothing to do with his/her powerlessness and delusion?
“I have personally made the mistake in the past of trying to draw meaning from the irrational eco-terrorist rants of mass murderers. I am sorry for any upset I caused.”
No need to be sorry for attempting the impossible. We all at times try to draw rational conclusions from irrational data or to use rational arguments against irrational statements or ideas. All we succeed in doing is drawing ever more extreme and irrational argument.
Best to just call bullshit to to all illogical argument or motive and ignore it from there on.
Of course, the DNC and the MSM take no accountability whatsoever despite constantly screeching about “The Reistance” for three years. Throw in these two turds, and those who attempted to kill Republican politicians and attacked ICE facilities (which the media barely gave coverage to) and it’s suspiciously trend like.
Maybe it’s not such a smart idea to keep pushing the crap about 12 years to save the Earth and Orange Man bad all the time. Especially seeing as some of those watching, listening or reading what are essentially nothing more than opinons without context or facts, are mentally unstable individuals who are generally pissed off at the World and how they are seen in society.
The failing MSM and social media does more damage sowing division to the nation for financial profit in 24 hours, than any President could ever achieve in a century. Fewer people are watching or taking any notice as trust has long gone, but those who do are becoming more militant as a direct result of outrage for clicks to save a dying legacy media. “Any means necessary” is spoken far too often by commentators, journalists and social influencers with no criticism or any level of self reflection, or any concern for real world consequences.
Having no agenda that most people want slander of their opponents and importing votes is all the democrats have to stay in power. While they talk violence against their opponents they accuse others of what they themselves are doing and are supported by the MSM with one sentence disparaging remarks as if they could not put a coherent paragraph in their comments.
People aren’t born with “a spark of the divine” within them. They are born with “a spark of evil” within them.
(I won’t get into the only thing that can change that. Some here already know that and that we need to keep it quenched.)
We’ve seen some jump on a headline weather event promoted as proof of CAGW and the need for politicians to “control something!”.
For much longer we’ve seen some jump on a headline shooting event as proof of the need to do away with the 2nd Amendment. (The politicians don’t have the guts or integrity to just come out and say that.) They call it “Gun Control” instead.
I know there’s a logical fallacy “After the Fact therefore Because of the Fact”.
It seems like there should be another along the lines of “After the Fact therefore Let’s Exploit the Fact”.
Lies aren’t right or left know matter what the “Fact”.
Remember, in any group of people you see, about 10 percent will be psychos of one degree or another.
The two eco -anarchists perpetrating these killings are but a small example of what a whole batch of these
people would do given half a chance .
These tragic murders are in part the consequence of a massive global warming fraud promoted by MSM
and rent seekers disguised as climate champions . The NYT , WP , LA T and many many others have been lying to the public for over a decade .
Tens of thousands of deaths each year because people live in fuel poverty caused by misguided government policy and corporate greed .

Directionally correct Amber, but your mortality numbers are probably ‘way too low.
Global Excess Winter Mortality probably totals well-in-excess of two million souls per year. Not all of these can be ascribed to fuel poverty, but many can.

In Winter 2017-18, 35,000 MORE Excess Winter Deaths occurred in England and Wales than the average rate in the USA – the UK government is killing off their elderly and poor with their destructive green energy policies.
Joe d’Aleo and I co-authored the following paper on Excess Winter Mortality in 2015. The title states the reality that cold weather kills much more than warm weather.
COLD WEATHER KILLS 20 TIMES AS MANY PEOPLE AS HOT WEATHER
by Joseph d’Aleo and Allan MacRae, September 4, 2015
https://friendsofsciencecalgary.files.wordpress.com/2015/09/cold-weather-kills-macrae-daleo-4sept2015-final.pdf
Excess Winter Mortality is the number of deaths that occur in the four winter months (December through March in the NH) minus the number of deaths that occur in equivalent non-winter periods.
About 100,000 Excess Winter Deaths occur annually in the USA, equivalent to about two-9-11’s per week for 17 weeks every year.
Colder Canada typically experiences about 5000 to 10,000 Excess Winter Deaths per year.
More than 50,000 Excess Winter Deaths occurred in England and Wales last winter (2017-2018) – an Excess Winter Death rate more than 2.5 times the per-capita average rate of the USA, and 2.5 to 5 times the per capita rate in Canada.
Even in warm climates like Thailand and Brazil, there is a significant Excess Winter Death rate, but it is typically lower than in colder countries.
The data suggests that Earth is significantly colder-than-optimum for human longevity. Other factors, such as energy pricing and the quality of housing insulation and heating systems are also important to reduce winter mortality.
