‘You can’t arrest us all’: Extinction Rebellion respond to police saying they won’t allow repeat of April protests

From The Independent

‘If and when 10,000 people sit in a street and refuse to be moved, then what the police will ‘allow’ is neither here nor there’

Extinction Rebellion have dismissed Scotland Yard‘s claim that the force would not allow large-scale London protests planned for October.

The climate change activist group said the matter would likely be ”out of their hands, however hard they try to arrest us”.

The group is planning demonstrations on a bigger scale than those in April, when they occupied four sites in the capital for 11 days with one of the UK’s largest civil disobedience campaigns in decades.

Deputy assistant commissioner Laurence Taylor of London’s Metropolitan Police told reporters those protests had been ”wholly unacceptable”.

He said: “It went well beyond the realm of what was reasonable and we would not tolerate that level of disruption again.”

In response, Extinction Rebellion spokesperson Rupert Read told The Independent his comments were “interesting”.

He said: “When masses of people take non-violent direct action, the matter is no longer entirely in the police’s hands. If and when 10,000 people sit in a street and refuse to be moved, then what the police will ‘allow’ is neither here nor there. There aren’t enough of them to arrest us all and when they arrest some of us, others take their place.”

Police said they had been forced to divert officers from tackling crime and policing neighbourhoods to deal with April’s protests – which saw a pink boat block Oxford Circus and Waterloo Bridge fitted with greenery and skateboard ramps.

Activists called it “Garden Bridge”.

Mr Taylor said officers arrested more than 1,150 people during the protests and around 180 have been charged so far. He has previously said he wants the Met to push for every one of those arrested to be charged.

“We absolutely respect people’s fundamental right to protest, but we do not accept that extends to causing misery and mass disruption to everybody,” Mr Taylor said. “Absolutely I can assure Londoners we will do everything we can to avoid that situation again.”

But Mr Read said “any disruption that we cause is just a vanishingly-small fraction of the disruption to our entire civilisation and utter misery that ecological breakdown and climate breakdown are starting to bring.”

He added: “Blocking a few streets or even closing an airport for a while does not begin to compare with the permanent flooding of those streets or to super-hurricanes or tornados.”

Extinction Rebellion, which has won the backing of scientists, researchers and academics who worry that the official response to climate change is lagging far behind the severity of the crisis, has said it hopes to cause even greater disruption in October than it did in April.

I can see this turning very very nasty reminiscent of the Poll Tax riots of the earth 1990’s. That was nasty! I am hoping the Police have the names and addresses of ringleaders so that this “protest” is nipped in the bud.

For the first time I can see a use for those radio frequency beamers that make your bowels decide to empty. let’s see how 10,000 of these fruitcakes (as if they could ever get that many) handle having to sit in their own shit for a while. 😀

Also maybe Unis (colleges) should start penalising those who don’t show up for lectures etc. At the moment these spoilt brats seem free to do whatever they like, knowing they will still graduate with yet another useless degree.

“Extinction Rebellion, which has won the backing of scientists, researchers and academics”

In other words, NOT “scientists, researchers and academics” but priests of AGW. REAL scientists would be pushing Science and real data, not backing juvenile delinquents too old for puberty to disrupt society.

Have they thought about the extra fuel being burned as people sit in idling cars wait for jams to clear? 😀

Another possible reaction to these over-entitled imbeciles.

1. Take names and addresses.
Then:
Confiscate all phones, tablets and computers.
Cut off their gas.
Cut off their electricity.
Deny petrol for their cars or motorbikes.
Revoke bus and train passes.
Visit and remove all clothes and plastics from their burrows.

NOW let’s see how your protests go against the society that got rich enough to LET you have the time and indolence to be able to get out and pretend to be concerned about other people.

Boris might just override the Mozzie Mayor.

If the wind conditions are ‘right’ maybe stink gas generators using hydrogen sulfide gas or other foul smells like puke or a raunchy fart to simply make a region quite uncomfortable to be in. It would be difficult to claim over-reaction by police as could be the case using tear gas. A good chemist should be able to come up with an economical, efficient and safe stinker. It could also be simply poured in the street with a tanker/water truck and washed down the storm drains at a later time. I know I wouldn’t want to spend much time where the air was permeated with puke or sh*t smells.

Or just “recruit” a suitable number of skunks and turn them out at nightfall. 😀 Certified rabies-free and radio tagged for easy retrieval afterwards.

The XR activists are simply the useful idiots of the Green Socialists they are the COGS (constantly offended green socialists) being turned by the few Marxists that demand the destruction of capitalism and who have concluded (rightly) the way to destroy capitalism is to destroy energy availability.
The simple way to defeat their upcoming call for protests amassing 10,000 + people is to just remove their IT connectivity.
The GCHQ people know exactly who is tweeting whom, and can block anyone they choose to block.
Who knows, maybe the ring leaders will resort to letter writing? That would be educational for them, and a salutary lesson as to what happens when developed technology is taken off them.

Have any of those extinction rebellion twits read anything about basic astronomy. There is a normal cycle of earth which is called The Earth’s Procession, and it is a long period of time about 26,800 years, and during its cycle of Procession earth’s angle of axis changes about 7 degrees over the period, and the path of the sun across our skies changes as the angle of axis changes, thus temperatures in warmer areas will get colder, and temperatures in colder areas will get warmer, and the gravitational pull of the sun and moon effects the earth’s crust to change and as this happens we will have more earthquakes, tidal waves, severe weather changes, and volcanic activity will increase also under sea volcanic activity will increase as the earth’s crust moves with Procession, and it is certainly not caused by humans. Pollution IS but it is not the cause of climate change. The extinction rebellion bunch think that England is a planet of its own and we will all be extinct in ten years time, YES if we have a third world war and our politicians keep poking their noses in to other countries affairs. Other countries pollution spreads across the planet in the jet stream and until they stop fighting wars over the mythical concept of religion and live together and work to better themselves then our air quality will improve. The cycle of Earth’s Procession is always happening and humans cannot do anything about it, Electric cars are increasingly being used on our roads which is a great way to help clean up the local air quality, but it just takes TIME to make a difference and money, so extinction rebellion twits stop using buses, trains, cars, motorcycles, and just walk because you have been seen using all of the above.

With surveillance cameras at critical points and state-of-the-art face recognition technology, the executive has no hurry to avert mass violations. For decades, it’s sufficient enough to track down the criminals.

The offenders will have a life-long difficulty in passing a customs check.
