At first, I thought this had to be a joke. Then I thought it must be some sort of misinterpretation. Sadly, no.

According to her mother Malena Ernman (48), 16-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg can see CO2 with the naked eye. She writes that in the book ‘Scenes from the heart. Our life for the climate’, which she wrote with her family.
Greta was diagnosed as a child with obsessive-compulsive disorder and Asperger’s syndrome, just like her younger sister Beata. The activist also has a photographic memory. She knows all the capitals by heart and can list all the chemical elements of the periodic table within one minute. In addition, she has another gift according to her mother.
“Greta is able to see what other people cannot see,” writes Malena Ernman in the book.
“She can see carbon dioxide with the naked eye. She sees how it flows out of chimneys and changes the atmosphere in a landfill.”
Of course, with a ~ 410 parts per million concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, we know that is a physical impossibility. Carbon Dioxide is a colorless and odorless gas:

It also does not reflect or absorb any light within the light spectrum that humans can see. Even if Greta had some special ability to see into the near infrared, the absorption spectrum of CO2 is far removed from the human range of color sensitivity.

But, this claim underscores how bizarre her activism has become, and people seem to want to look the other way instead of questioning her abilities and cognitive understanding of the information she professes to know.

IF she says she sees CO2, she may have either glaucoma or cataracts. Both will affect your vision but if you’re 16, you wouldn’t be expected to have such a problem.
This is absolutely the most disgusting thing I’ve run into in a while.
She does squint a lot (At least in the photos I’ve seen of her), I’m thinking she needs glasses, perhaps than she’d be able to see clearly rather than seeing things that aren’t what she thinks she’s seeing.
I can see CO2 and there is hardly any of it in the atmosphere.
I can see Global Warming and there is none anywhere to be seen.
I can see lots of Urban Heat Island warming.
I can see warming caused by removing SO2 from the atmosphere back in the 60’s and 70’s when we had the Clean Air Acts.
I can see through the Warmista fantasy.
I can see many years into the future and we will be safe and every tomorrow will be like today.
I can see the evolution of Chaotic Climate Models and they are bollox.

I feel sorry for the poor girl. It would be hard to appreciate the extent of indoctrination she has experienced. Can you imagine the parents?
Instead of being so vitriolic about a 16 year olds statements why not write a convincing argument with scientific research to back it that could be presented to her.

NO-ONE apart from her parents and doctor know if she is mentally ill. You have no proof!
You all want scientists with a different point of view to mainstream science to have their rights to teach their beliefs at a university. You decry those that criticise. But here you are doing just that. Weird!
One does not need to be a chicken to discover a rotten egg.
Greta has Asperger syndrome, this means that she takes things literally and once has made up her mind it is difficult to get her to change it. Therefore even if presented with evidence to the contrary she is unlikely to change her view point, this could even cause serious mental distress. Someone may have pointed to a chimney and said something along the lines of ‘look at all of the carbon dioxide being put into the atmosphere’; which, if taken literally, would mean they can see carbon dioxide.
She has quickly become the eco-millenarian movement’s Savonarola, with prognostications of doom and special powers, it’s quite frightening to think where this will all end.

I had this website in high respect, but this post is over the red line. We talk about a 16 yr old kid. She is in the learning process of forming her opinion on things and we should not criticice her publically like this. She is 16 and should be protected… that her mother is mentally ill doesnt give us the right to behave against a kid this way.

No, her handlers and the global warming propaganda machine is USING her – with her own permission and purpose and encouragement and approval and actions and speeches and GREAT personal exposure and personal publicity – for THEIR propaganda purposes.
YES, she is less than 16, and YES, her handlers and parents are legally responsible.
But SHE is the one who is deliberately committing the actions in public that are comic, but tragic in their consequences for health and well-being of billions.

I hear delusion like this all the time. One friend said he can feel global warming every time he goes outside. My wife is a teacher who stood beside her principal looking outside at a regular mega snowy Canadian winter. He said: “If this isn’t proof of global warming I don’t know what is.” A restaurant server told me that a normal cold rainy March day we were experiencing is climate change. When is this climate house of cards going to finally fall?!
He said: “If this isn’t proof of global warming I don’t know what is.”
The proper response to him would be “you’re right, you don’t know what is”.

But “våra koldioxider” actually translates to “our carbon dioxidES”, not “our carbon dioxide”… So Greta can not ONLY see CO2 – she can also see hitherto-unknown isomers of CO2!
Here’s a literal translation of the quote in full:
“Greta belonged to the small number [“of people” – my clarification] who could see our carbon dioxides with the naked eye. She saw how the greenhouse gases flowed out of our chimneys, soaring upwards with the winds and turning the atmosphere into a giant invisible garbage dump.”
So yes.. she sees CO2, all “our” isomers of it.. along with that great invisible garbage dump in the sky which she also sees.
All of you, including the author of the article, who talk about Greta being uneducated and so on. Go and ask a little more bright friend about metaphors… You are making fools of yourselves, but you don’t realise it. 🙄😉
If you don’t have a friend to ask, I’ll tell you a secret. It is like the old saying “Oh dear, it’s raining cats and dogs!”. It just means it rains. A lot. If you would freak out about that it’s actually not raining cats and dogs people would laugh at you. Too.
It doesn’t even matter if it’s a metaphore or literal (and no, I’m not convinced they don’t mean it literally, because many of these (you?) people are completely uneducated and at this point downright religious in their strange beliefs about climate, global warming etc) – the statement is delusional and displays a complete scientific illiteracy.

I have an autistic kid and it’s just a lot of d*mn hard work the father suffering te same being absent. And always when you think you’ve seen it all it’s just some more near disaster and d*mn hard work until you retire to the grave. I wish she would see also how trees and grass are happy and vital to inhale the CO2 during the daylight and how they produce glucose, fructose and exhale O2 🙂 .
