New York’s famous hot dogs could soon be a thing of the past.
NYC Considering Banning HOT DOGS And Other Processed Meats Over Climate Change
By EMILY ZANOTTI
April 25, 2019New York City may be on the verge of outlawing its signature encased meat, the hot dog, alongside other “processed meats,” in a bid to make New Yorkers more climate conscious.
Radio station Z100 reports that Mayor Bill de Blaiso signed into law New York’s own version of the “Green New Deal” last week, and part of the NYC GND involves teaching New Yorkers to make healthy, environmentally friendly food choices by banning specific, “problematic” dishes from city menus.
“The plan,” Z100 says, “will cut purchases of red meat by 50 percent in its city-controlled facilities such as hospitals, schools, and correctional facilities. The new commitment builds off of the Meatless Mondays campaign that was adopted by all NYC schools in 2017.”
New Yorkers will be able to keep their precious hot dog street carts, and tourists will still be able to fill up on dirty water dogs in Times Square — at least for now. The Green New Deal only prohibits city facilities from buying and serving hot dogs and other processed meats in bulk to serve in city-run cafeterias, mostly located in city office buildings, jails, and schools.

What I don’t get, why is processed meat supposed to be less environmentally friendly than unprocessed meat?
Processed meat normally has non meat fillers, like breadcrumbs or other grains or cereals, and traditionally includes animal parts which might otherwise be discarded. I don’t get how this is somehow supposed to be less eco-friendly than say eating beef steak and throwing the rest of the animal away.

Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad. – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Our enemies have reached the madness stage.
Meat madness.
Meat mania.
Weenie worriers.
Weenie warriors.
… just brainstorming some appropriate phrases here.
If I eat hotdogs without fear or guilt, does this make me a hotdog denier?
I’m pro meat.
Marginalizing hotdog eaters in this fashion is clearly carnivoracist.
There’s so much stupidity here that I hardly know where to start making fun of it.
As if anyone needed yet another reason not to live in NYC.
Citiots!
No one hates this new regulation more than I. You see I live in Florida and we have already had a million NYers relocate here bringing a lot of NY politics with them just due to the absurd taxes in NY. Now, no hot dogs! A million more displaced persons will be coming and we are FULL!
Sounds like President Trump needs to secure funding for 2 more walls. One to surround the Peoples Republic of California and one for the Soviet Socialist State of New York (we might be able to save tax payer money by just building around the city)

The rich eat steak and the poor eat processed meat. The eco-fascists only want to hurt the poor.
Mind you Soylent Green is “green.”
You don’t get it.
The idea is not to do good. It’s to hurt those who don’t eat as you do.
Indeed, the goal isn’t to do good (whether the purported “noble cause” is health or climate or whatever). It’s to control others and to signal how virtuous they are while they stomp their bootheels on those others.
Well, this is a good first step. Cows and methane and all.
But, now we await the other shoe to drop: Rice cultivation and methane.
I wonder if ANYBODY in involved every asked that question?
This a simply madness.
If I were a lawyer in New York I would start preparations for a very lucrative business in litigation relating to the loss of jobs/livelihoods through ludicrous climate legislation. Can you imagine the number of seriously angry people when the climate farce comes crashing down and the compensation they will demand?
I forget the name of the joint, it was in Palatine, Illinois.
Jumbo hot dog wrapped in bacon then deep fried, melted cheddar cheese as a topping.
Kept me and my crew working thru the afternoons.
Sorry if I’m slathering as I write this 🙂
Who will bring down the Climate 10 Commandments from the mountaintop to first inform and then threaten the masses?
Do rich folk gorge themselves on hot-dogs? Or is it more the fare of ordinary and poor folk?
Show me the calculations by how much global warming will be reduced by implementing this policy. Then show me the cost/benefit analysis.
You have to control by force, like the Romans, or control by keeping them busy just staying alive, like Venezuela. You’re right, it is a way to control the population, keep them suppressed and imobile.
They are calling hot dogs meat? Well there’s your first problem right there.
During a meat substitution scandal in Australia in the 1980s a business in Melbourne was raided and its sausages tested for substituted meat. The scandal began with kangaroo being used instead of beef. After a long search it was found the sausages had no animal flesh of any type in them.
The Elites do not eat hotdogs, so you can go ahead and ban them. Do not apply ordinary logic to Alarmist CAGW ideas. If logic was applicable the Alarmist CAGW meme, aficionados would never have got to the CAGW idea at all, ever.
Does Warren Wilhelm, Jr. think New Yorkers should be eating in-humanely killed Ground Hogs, instead?
Are Ground Hogs the “Other, other white meat”?
You denialists ate just stupid. It’s very simple, like agebra
Processed meat = nitrites
Nitrites = bad
Climate change = bad
Therefore processed meat = climate change
Simple, see?
Ha – so if I eat more nitrites I’ll turn green? 😉
The impact of this program would be so small it could not possibly be measured by any currently available instrument. I pointed this out to someone about the mayors other program regarding skyscrapers. I then did some rough calculations and demonstrated that it was not just the impact on global temperatures which could not be measured but that it would not be possible to measure the impact on atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations. This stopped the exchange of comments. I seriously doubt that the explanation changed that persons mind but hopefully it will cause someone to reconsider the usefulness of it and any future proposals.
I beg to differ, the virtue signal-o-meter will be off the scale
This completely feral knee-jerk mass hysteria and insanity.
SHAME ON YOU, YOU MINDLESS DUPED UTTER FOOLS AND HENNY-PENNY GENUFLECTING BONEHEADS.
This is so dumb and reactionary it’s almost like April 1st has returned for a second run in 2019.
What’s going on with the moderation Anthony? It seems like each comment goes to moderation and gets stuck there, then they get released into threads in one go, an hour later? How’s it possible to discuss or interact when it’s like that?
I view tofu as a very “problematic” food. It is, after all, a very processed food product.
When will New York city get around to banning it for my and others benefit?
Maybe it would be best to ban all humans and their artifacts from the city and turn the city into a nature preserve so that it would become a CO2 sink rather than a CO2 source. Of course such efforts will have no effect on global climate since the climate sensitivity of CO2 is zero.
After the election of Trump the Democrits doubled down on their divine right to run the country and gave no thought to a retrospective of WTF happened? Hillary’s thought-free “What Happened” was a predictable generic pap that still is playing out among the Ds. They definitely are if one mind. At this, I predicted the (New) Republicans would rule for at least a generation if they could cut the mouldering old guard off. This will take new blood without the ties that bind and putting the RINOs out to pasture or find them a space in Democrat Eutrophia.
With the Jerry-brownish hotdog thing in New York, I now have doubled my bet on multi-generation rule of Republicans. I would now advise Dems to get checked out at the the Atlanta Center For Disease Control for some unknown pathogen.
I’d be careful with that bad. Never underestimate the ability of the establishment Republicans to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.
