Another Manntastic event, these flyers were being distributed at AGU yesterday.
Note the “lab coats and signs provided”. Much more sciency with labs coats, fer sure.
Here are some pictures and video from the rally. I wasn’t much impressed with the quality of the arguments:
The guy in the lab coat with the red glasses (front, center), the only one not holding the sign, seems to have been drinking
Here’s the video. Michael Mann and Naomi Oreskes speak, along with a cast of acolytes. You’ll see lots of hand-waving and feelings of persecution, such as “it struck me to my core” and..”the nightmare continues, and its getting worse every day”. Ironically, there were no comments regarding their fossil fueled airline flights to get here to wail about the uses of fossil fuels. My favorite is when Mann says he’s “shocked, shocked, about the politicization of science”….riiiiight. He pushed his most recent book, snore.
I’m not sure what, if anything they accomplished, except to put on a show. I don’t think serious people paid much attention to it. I surely didn’t, because science and clown-like theatrics really don’t mix.
UPDATE: I forgot to mention that this rally was conducted on the steps of a Catholic Church, St. Patricks on Mission Street, which is right across from the Jessie Square/Yerba Buena gardens. Seems a perfect place to pitch a religion, doesn’t it?

Oh boy !
Rallies to stop political climate change !!
?/sarc
If everyone who accepts these people’s views on climate were to pay for renewable energy, biofuels, electric cars and the like, with no subsidies at all from taxpayers, I for one (and probably all sceptics) would leave them all alone to do and say anything they wanted about CAGW. Put the onus on them to convince people to pay real money for their perceived problem, and leave the rest of us alone.
And pay for tgese scientivists too, of course!
At first I was wandering if this was for real, but of course you can’t make this up……
I hope you are all planning to attend the Pope’s Christmas Rally this year: Stand Up for Atheism.
Or perhaps the Guardian’s: Truth Matters. (Co-sponsors with the BBC).
When the new admin makes science great again, it won’t be recognized by this crop of postnormalists. They’ll just have to die off of old age. A major something has to be done to science education to restore it and, in this amoral age, a code of ethics plus disciplinary enforcement is needed for science as is the case for engineering and for the same reason, protection of the public. Without this, it is vulnerable to politicization and subversion by new world order totalitarians.
So these were stand up comedians, right? Make-believe scientists dressed like scientists “standing up” for faux science? Funny. Not. Except for the obviously drunk guy front and center. He was hilarious.

Reminds me of a rally to support ObamaCare back when it was still being debated. The organizers provided lab coats and stethoscopes to all participants.
Flyers should have read … Rally Stand Up For Science Fiction.
Then the costumes would have been most appropriate.
Oreskes’ latest book was science fiction:
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/09/03/climate-craziness-of-the-week-naomi-oreskes-says-climate-change-will-kill-your-pets/
This is virtue-signaling and nothing more.
Agreed climate change is a red herring but …it’s a coffee cup, you politicised morons
Is there any beverage you can’t drink from a coffe cup?
Merely preaching to the choir.
Lab coats are PPE, not to be worn outside of the lab. Apparently, none of the people on the steps has ever worked in a lab, or they were never taught the ABCs of lab safety.
This reminds me of BO’s photo op with alleged doctors in lab coats selling Obamacare. No self-respecting doctor would wear it outside of the workplace. If my doctor did that, I’d quickly find a different doctor.
We cite research labs during safety inspections for improper use and management of lab coats and other PPE.
“it struck me to my core” and..”the nightmare continues, and its getting worse every day”. Ironically, there were no comments regarding their fossil fueled airline flights to get here to wail about the uses of fossil fuels.”
“Comess from right across from the Jessie Square/Yerba Buena gardens. Seems a perfect place to pitch a religion, doesn’t it?”
– makes one smile!
Thanks!
