Paramount to Release a Sequel to Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth"

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

Paramount has announced that a sequel to Al Gore’s 2006 climate documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” will be aired at the Sundance Festival in January 2017.

Paramount Pictures will distribute a still-untitled An Inconvenient Truth sequel

Paramount Pictures announced today it will release a still untitled An Inconvenient Truth sequel theatrically. From Participant Media, and directed by Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk, the An Inconvenient Truth sequel follows former Vice President Al Gore as he continues his decades-long fight to build a more sustainable future for our planet. The 2006 original won two Academy Awards.

“Now more than ever we must rededicate ourselves to solving the climate crisis,” says Gore. “But we have reason to be hopeful; the solutions to the crisis are at hand. I’m deeply honored and grateful that Paramount Pictures and Participant Media have once again taken on the task of bringing the critical story of the climate crisis to the world.”

I’m personally looking forward to the sequel. I mean, there are important questions unanswered by the first “Inconvenient Truth”, questions like “Why did you sell your TV station to Al Jazeera – what happened to the $100 million you took from the Qatar Oil Sheiks?“. Or “Why did you buy that Montecito beach view villa in 2010, if you thought sea level rise was about to engulf coastal towns?”. How about “How much electricity did you burn during Earth Hour 2009, when you left the lights on at your huge Tennessee mansion?“.

Those were just the most egregious ones, those the judge felt required immediately accompanying disclaimers. He noted 27 more less serious ones, as well.

I don’t recall the judge going beyond 9 errors. It was only a partial victory. The film was allowed to be shown with some prefatory “guidance” material. Other commenters soon found a total of 35 mistakes. I hope the new movie loses tons of money.

Money is no object for the producers. All expenses related to the movie become either a tax write off or a valid expenditure for a nonprofit organization. They’ll show it for free.

Well “inconvenient truth” does sound like the title of a comedy. I would go for some laughs if I wanted to make a profit on this groaner. Karl Marx was a better comedian than Gore, its just the Karl wasn’t kidding. Groucho on the other hand was:
While Groucho was having a lunch on the Via Veneto in Rome, a priest came up to his table and said, “My mother just loves you!”. To which Groucho replied, “Hey, I thought you guys weren’t allowed to have mothers.”
‘Groucho’ wouldn’t be a bad nickname for Gore – he’s a testy fellow.

Park City, UT is a ski resort, January snow is almost guaranteed! I was once stranded there by a March blizzard, me a co-driver, and four Arabians in a 20′ trailer along with everyone else lucky enough to make it to the exit without sliding into a ditch. It started out as a downpour in SLC but by the time we climbed up to Park City we could no longer see and were navigating by 18-wheeler’s running lights. We were just lucky he went off on an exit because we were willing to follow him until he stopped. Algore should only fall into a drift and turn blue….

About 8 years ago I was working on a local airborne survey crew and we booked into Sundance for Christmas dinner. Since it was snowing reasonably heavily, there was no chance of any work that day, so we headed off early to grab a few extra beers prior to the meal.
Just after we arrived, an minor avalanche blocked the access road, and therefore we had an almost surreal experience of a Christmas dinner in an otherwise empty restaurant. It was a good few hours before the road was cleared after the meal, so the whole evening got a bit messy, as we felt obliged to try to keep the bar staff employed. I felt a bit sorry for our designated driver.
What with all the global warming and missed climate targets, I guess these snowfalls are a thing of the past.

That is what I thought, exactly, when I first heard it was supposed to be released in January! Obviously this has been in production for some time, and it was time to coincide with the much anticipated (on the left) inauguration of President Hillary. This was going to be the cultural linchpin that was going to provide cover for a vast overhaul of the American economy in the guise of “climate security”.
Ha, how much one election can change! Now Paramount is stuck with this, the plans are set in stone, and they have nothing left to do but release it anyways.
To use a military analogy, this effort is going to go down as a Bay of Pigs for the Climate Warriors – a comically flawed assault that was far too little, far too late, to the point that it will be regarded as nothing but a punchline to a bad joke for all time to come.

A work of fiction . Same disasters, new time line… it should be entertaining. They should show it on Halloween as a scary movie. They had those Saturday afternoon horror movies, too. Can I do the film editing ? We’ll show icebergs, and forest fires, floods, Syrian refugees, floods, droughts, wind storms, snow storms, extreme cold, extreme heat, crop failures,… (no abundant crops), the evil air conditioners, … more evil than ISIS …. and what story would be complete without the story of poor starving polar bears and poor starving children. This is what is happening now. Not leaving out the charts, and official organizations, and the chronic Cryer of doomsday or the number of people who believe . And a voice over of how man is making all this happen oh,oh we will have to do something now ! The true meaning of think globally, act locally… and send donations to… there will be no accounting, just rest that your money is being used… … they could hire me to do the storyboards.
Ok, youse guys can rate this.. 1 or 2 stars ?
