The story below is from from Honolulu Civil Beat, who covered a political rally on April 15th by Gore to 9000 people in Honolulu’s Stan Sheriff Center. It is a 12,500 seat sports auditorium where his voice was amplified by, his slideshow enabled with, and his persona illuminated by and made comfortable with air-conditioning, all made possible by the “dirty energy” electricity generated by fossil fuels that he railed against.

The electricity that enabled Mr. Gore’s rally was courtesy of the oil burning power plants of the Hawaiian Electric Company, such as the HECO power plant at Kahe Point in West Oahu seen at right.
Gore himself once said in a crackpot statement: “there is no such thing as ethical oil.”
Yes, fossil fuels in the form of “dirty oil” enabled Gore to tell these people all about why they shouldn’t be using it.
But, that’s just the start of Mr. Gore’s hypocrisy. Read on.

Al Gore on Climate Change: ‘We Are Going to Win This Thing’
“The way we have to respond to this is going to require a set of changes that are beyond our routine,” he said, his voice growing to a shout. “I know that we are capable of that. Our way of life is at stake, our grandchildren are at stake, the future of civilization is at stake.”
But Gore cited two “game changers” in recent years that will help. The first is the growing realization from even climate-change deniers that something seems to be strange with the weather. The second is the exponential growth in photovoltaic solar panels, driven largely by consumer demand for lower prices.
The “barriers” to doing something about climate change are business and political interests that profit off of fossil fuels — “dirty energy that causes dirty weather.” He compared fake science from polluters stating that humans are not to blame for the climate to tobacco companies that used to hire actors to play doctors who denied cigarettes were dangerous.
“That’s immoral, unethical and despicable,” he said of both.

What. A. Liar.
Both the IPCC and Nature say there is no link between climate change aka global warming and severe weather, and so it follows about Gore’s “dirty energy” claim.
From Chapter 4 of the IPCC SREX report ( IPCC Special Report on Extremes PDF):
- “There is medium evidence and high agreement that long-term trends in normalized losses have not been attributed to natural or anthropogenic climate change”
- “The statement about the absence of trends in impacts attributable to natural or anthropogenic climate change holds for tropical and extratropical storms and tornados”
- “The absence of an attributable climate change signal in losses also holds for flood losses”
Nature’s editorial last year dashing alarmist hopes of linking extreme weather events to global warming saying:
Better models are needed before exceptional events can be reliably linked to global warming.
If Hawaii is like the rest of the United States, then Mr. Gore just insulted not only those of us who have technically based doubts about his claims, but a good portion of the average population that doesn’t agree with him according to Gallup polling.
Environmental worries seem to be a thing of the past:

Source: http://www.gallup.com/poll/167843/climate-change-not-top-worry.aspx
And here’s what Gallup discovered about how people view global warming:

Source: http://www.gallup.com/poll/167879/not-global-warming-serious-threat.aspx
And Yale gets similar results:
-
About half of Americans (51%) say they are “somewhat” (38%) or “very worried” (15%) about global warming.
-
Fewer than half of Americans (38%) believe they personally will be harmed a “moderate amount” or a “great deal” by global warming. By contrast, majorities believe that global warming will harm future generations of people (65%) and plant and animal species (65%).
“Our findings show that the public’s understanding of global warming’s reality, causes, and risks has not improved and has, in at least one important respect, gone in the wrong direction over the past year,” said researcher Ed Maibach, PhD, of George Mason University. “Better public communication about global warming is needed now more than ever.”
So, when Al Gore says ‘We Are Going to Win This Thing’, he’s just preaching to the few that still believe him. Everybody else has moved on.
So while Mr. Gore calls climate skeptics (which seems to be the majority of the population these days) ‘Immoral, Unethical and Despicable’ I take comfort in the fact that unlike Mr. Gore, at least we don’t take Al Jazeera & tobacco money to pad our lifestyle while telling others how to live theirs.

“… the exponential growth in photovoltaic solar panels, driven largely by consumer demand for lower prices.”
This is as nonsensical as anything I’ve ever read before. High demand for a product increases prices, it doesn’t lower them. If prices are declining it’s because too much of the product is made and too little is being sold.
Arguing with Algore re: global warming / climate change, somewhat misses the point. Algore is and always has been a man in search of a great mission. Look up “Agenda 21”, you’ll then understand where Algore is coming from, global warming / climate change is but the first act.
Algore is one of the self described, “global elite”, that have great plans for you and I, and they will say or do anything to accomplish these missions, as his history has proven. Al has enriched himself beyond anything that even he could have imagined. He has done this with half truths and exaggeration to a willing congregation of followers of his new religion and “That’s immoral, unethical and despicable,”
Had he been a TV preacher he would have been exposed long ago and done the walk of shame. So rather that trying to point out to all of these climate nuts that 2+2 doesn’t equal 6, the time should be spent on WHY the’re doing what they do. Scientists, government leaders and green energy concerns each see the part of the plan that benefits them and climb on board. In and of its self it seems harmless but taken as a whole it’s a disaster. Algore is like the Jim Jones of the “Church of Green Energy and Sustainable Development”.
Did Mr. Gore admit 9000 people for free? Did Mr. Gore pay for his own airplane ticket with his own money? In short, how much money did Mr. Gore make from this trip?
I love this statement:
“The first is the growing realization from even climate-change deniers that something seems to be strange with the weather.”
Yes, the strange thing about the weather is that it is getting colder, damn colder.
Not that long ago, say 4 or 5 years ago, a thread such as this one attacking their hero would have been thread-bombed by froth-at-the-mouth gorebot trolls. What’s happened? Yes, they did get their bottoms spanked and they were sent off crying, but that never used to stop them before.
Where have all the gorebots gone? Long time passing?
Send in the trolls. There must be trolls.
Ah, the good old days.
My favorite example of the man’s hypocrisy comes from the Inconvenient Truth. He stands on the family farm, telling of the sad death of his sister from lung cancer “But then, she was a smoker, you know!” Pause to dry the rheumy eye, and the camera pans out, to reveal that Gore is standing in front of a wooden shed. It is of a particular and unique design – specifically, it is a tobacco-drying shed. The family fortunes were made in part from growing the weed.
I am astounded that so many willing idiots could be found to attend his self-aggrandizing self-love fest. For an idiot, he has done pretty well fooling the rest of the idiots.
You would think that, after being revealed as a liar and charlatan, even the other idiots would stay away. I guess there is no fixing stupid.
Fat Albert says:
“The `barriers’ to doing something about climate change are business and political interests that profit off of fossil fuels — `dirty energy that causes dirty weather’.”
Fat Albert sits on the Board of Directors of Apple Inc., a company that owes a material amount of its “profits” to the ready availability of “fossil fuels – dirty energy …”.
Fat Albert has profited immensely from his BOD role at Apple. As of February 1, 2014, he owns 62,523 shares of Apple currently valued at over $32.8 million … http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ir?s=AAPL+Insider+Roster
One wonders: why does Apple keep this utter and complete hypocrite on its BOD?
The only way to expose, beat, and create a deterrent for alleged intentionally alarmist “gravy train” science is to bring a RICO claim. Not even a “trade secret” argument will be able to withstand that. Discovery in a judicial forum conducive to the side of real science will get you the emails, data, etc needed to support a RICO claim. Steyn’s claims are fascinating, but child’s play. RICO brings the pain, and the sad part is, IMO, once one gets past the standing argument (to bring a claim), I think you get to a jury. File it after the 2014 mid terms (I’m talking to you, Steyn).
Equally stunning to me is the quote at the end of the post:
“The wrong direction”. Wow.
Gore is rich from his lies. Guess what Al, you can’t take it with you. In the end, Al loses everything. hahahaha
Not necessarily. Hard drives are always in high demand, yet prices have dropped dramatically over the years. A 1gb hard drive I purchased in 1991 went for $2500, the following year the exact same model went for $1500. I recently purchased a 4tb drive for less than $150. Competition and innovation is what drives prices, no so much demand.
Is there a well known skeptic who would volunteer to attend one of Al’s talks and during the Q&A say, “I am ___________ and I deny CAGW for scientific reasons. Will you, right now, call me immoral, unethical and despicable in this public forum to my face? Otherwise shut your pie hole.” Followed by a law suit if he does it.
Wonder if Al covered these Bible passages while in his short stay at Divinity School
Deuteronomy 18:20-22 – But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’ And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.
Revelation 21:8 – But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
Leviticus 20:27 – “A man or a woman who is a medium or a necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them.”

Might explain why of the two biggest solar panel makers in China, one is bankrupt and the other only had interest on a bond issued by Shanghai Chaori Solar Energy Science & Technology a Chinese maker of solar cells, falls due. That payment, as of this moment, will not be made, following an announcement made late on Tuesday that it will not be able to repay the CNY89.8 million interest on a CNY1 billion bond issued on March 7th 2012.
FT reports: The company has until March 7th to repay the interest, charged at an annual 8.98 per cent, the company said in a statement. “Due to various uncontrollable factors, until now the company has only raised Rmb 4m to pay the interest,” it said in the statement.Trading in the Chaori bond, given a CCC junk rating, was suspended last July because the company suffered two consecutive years of losses. The company had a further RMB1.37bn loss in 2013, according to the results it posted on the exchange.
Just pointing out the obvious here, but how bad must things be for the company to be on the verge of default not due to principal repayment but because two years after issuing a bond, it only has 4% in cash on hand for the intended coupon payment?

As the opportunity to implement the necessary regulations/subsidies to make Kleiner Perkins investments in “green” technologies economical grows smaller and smaller, expect the rhetoric to get louder and louder as the panic reflex grasps tighter and tighter. We’ll know the game is up when he is finally let go from the board as they have given up on him and his alleged political connections. They will write off all those investments and they’ll be pissed. Good on them. Get Vinod Kosla et al back to what they do very, very well . . . leveraging silicon for large amounts of wealth creation.
Just what is unusual or exceptional in the world’s weather? Really. I’d like to know
Worst Luau ever !!
Al Gore has a new special on cable: Years of Living Dishonestly.
The CAGW movement reminds me so much of the propaganda that permeated society in George Orwell’s book “1984”. IIRC, they would demonize and wage war against one nation for a while, then switch to demonizing and waging war against another nation for a while, as it suited the wishes of the rulers.
I keep expecting the CAGW crew to switch gears and start trying to rabble-rouse about the coming ice age. They would have better luck selling that story these days. People actually have been dying from being unable to cope with cooler-than-expected temperatures and heavier-than-expected precipitation events.
In an ice age, there is more extreme swinging of weather than under warm climate conditions. Isn’t that what we have been seeing?
I mean, if the name of the game is to destroy big chunks of the economy just so as to have the opportunity of making money building it up again, isn’t it just as profitable to beat one dead horse as it is to beat another? At least beat a dead horse that isn’t as patently false as CAGW has proven to be!
And, yes, I remember that they already tried the ice age scare in the 1970s. They blamed that on fossil fuel usage, too.
They are shameless, apparently. CAGW as a cause is really threadbear. I think they need to try something new. Is that too much to ask?
Of all people to talk down to about petro, he’s chosen the most dependent. If the greens are successful at destroying the economies of scale that make petro fuel possible Hawaii will become a ghost island chain. Nothing enters or leaves Hawaii without petroenergy. It would be interesting to see a cost of living chart for Hawaii if petroenergy is globally banned/taxed out of affordability.
This would be an analysis of the impact of selectively destroying economies of scale on interdependent products such as gas, naptha, gasoline, kerosene, fuel oil (pay attention, America), diesel fuel, bunkers, and fertilizers. In the list there are critical energy sources that fuel transportation of people, goods, food, and trash across town and around the world. No fuel, no farms. No cheap fuel, no cheap food. They create affordable electricity that lights our world, cooks our food, and warms our homes. Air conditioning has expanded our living space to include climate zones that are otherwise unlivable. Modern life is impossible without these fuels. But what to do with the by-products of creating these essential fuels if they are banned/taxed out of reach? How will economies of scale affect creation of critical fuels when “consumer” fuels such as gasoline and heating oil are unaffordable?
Notice the striking similarity between the way Al Gore does science and the way he does
politics? “You can take the man out of politics [by the polling booth] but you can’t take
politics out of the man.”

They didn’t pay to listen to his drivel; they paid to stay or move up in the crony hierarchy of the Obama regime.

It’s gone beyond that. Best described now as the Obama junta.

Because there are still a lot of foolish, ignorant and naive people in this world who follow and believe in their own kind. And unfortunately, there probably always will be. IMHO, their brains are wired that way.

I haven’t seen any of the films but I did read the book.
The Hobbit is in many ways superior to the trilogy, itself. (Yes, I know that is not the “consensus view.)
I did not see the movie, which was described to be by someone who did as “Bilbo Kung-Fu Robohobbit”. Plus the Silly-Marillie and a girl crammed in.
