Mannic hypocrisy – How much should Michael Mann pay?

Since Michael Mann seems fond of fossil fueled trips like this one:

Mike Mann, Stephan Rahmstorf, Kari Norgard at the rift between continental plates in southern Iceland.

Big in Reykjavik | Climate Denial Crock of the Week

And since he agrees people who use fossil fuels (carbon polluters) should pay:

How much should his bill be for all the travels he’s made by air? Here’s a few more examples:

========================================================

Warmist Michael Mann takes fossil-fueled trip to oil-funded Oklahoma State,then suggests that fossil fuel companies are evil because their products cause bad weather

Climatology professor talks change, research

Mann, a professor of climatology at Pennsylvania State University, spoke of the research and challenges he has compiled and faced as a scientist before a room of about 430 people in the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center.

Mann at Orange County Water Conference – emotional presentation, polar bears threatened, still thinks snows of Kilimanjaro are receding due to ‘climate change’

========================================================

========================================================

And he’s still at it, pushing his book:

Climate Researcher Michael Mann to Speak Oct. 22 at Ohio Wesleyan University

Author to Discuss ‘The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars’ as Part of 2013 Sagan National Colloquium

========================================================

Unless Dr. Mann can show he didn’t use fossil fuels to get to any of these destinations, he’s nothing but a hypocrite.

I’d hate to see weepy Bill McKibben’s bill for all his air travel.

On the list of paradoxes, not many beat flying around the world to give talks about climate change.

I’ve seen the woman in a previous posting. She’s a professor that had a lot of negative things to say about skeptics, can’t remember details, but do remember that awful smile.

Lords and Serfs. They get more privileges because they’re just so smart and special….

You just don’t understand. Mr. Mann is a preeminent climate scientist. One whose work will save the planet. As one of the true elite, his travels are necessary for his scientific mission to save the planet, therefore his carbon footprint cannot be counted. You mere mortals need to understand this. The elite do loftier things to save the planet. As such, their stuff don’t stink.
Besides, if I could find someone to pay for my T&L for those exotic trips, I’d really happily go on them.

At one point in the linked article (written by Mann, we are to assume) the woman’s name is Kari Norgard; later it becomes Kerry Norgard. Typical carelessness, eh?

If you ask me, the smug smile suggests he’s paid too much, knows it, and wonders idly whether we do as well, but could care less whether we do or not.

The day Michael Mann visits Antarctica will be the day I support an immediate ban on all foil fuels.

But I’d rather not justify it, and I’d rather not fly. So in recent years I’ve learned to tell an increasing number of the people who ask me to speak (about ten a day, most days) that the only way I can “be” there is via Skype video.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bill-mckibben/skype-bill-mckibben_b_962711.html

That was back in 2011. Here is what McKibben’s 350.org has done since.

“In November 2012, following publication of his Rolling Stone article, Global Warming’s Terrifying New Math, Bill McKibben and 350.org hit the road in the USA to build a movement strong enough to change the terrifying math of the climate crisis. The Do the Math Tour was a massive success, with sold out shows in every corner of the country.
Now the tour is going global — first to Australia, then to New Zealand, Fiji, and beyond!

And what else.

Sydney Morning Herald – April 8, 2013
Mr McKibben, the author of the first mainstream book about global warming, The End of Nature, will visit Australia in June to galvanise local campaigns for action against climate change. He is travelling to Australia with 350.org, the group he helped found in 2008.

No rest for the wicked eh. The double standards of these people is simply breathtaking.

Here are just a few of the other high flyers of the global warming movement. They work hard on our behalf to stop this planetary emergency. They have told us time and again that we must act now – they are at least ‘acting’. 🙂

I agree with Bob and a few others above – this is no longer a scientific debate and we are entitled to fight back as necessary. Since the alarmists have chosen to duck entirely the scientific debate and go straight in for political activism and smear I feel we are obliged to respond.
It turns out that for the vast clueless masses out there image is important and we have allowed ourselves to be portrayed as luddites and flat earthers because we have been trying to fight a political battle with science.
I think it will be of benefit to mankind and the planet to deflate the overinflated image of fools like Mann.

Time and again I pointed out to commenters in the Guardian that it was their demand for fossil fuels which was being supplied by such companies. Stop using fossil fuels and the ‘climate crisis’ will be reduced. They are such a bunch of stinking hypocrites. Anyone for carbon credits (Medieval indulgences)?

Since SubhuMann is the instigator of the $100 billion wasted on global warming “research”, maybe he should cough up all the money he ever got in “research” grants and tell all his partners in crime to cough up, until that $100 billion has been recovered and repaid to the US Treasury – what say? Oh, and then we go after Bloody Mess.

Greetings from a country about to experience uncertain climate. I won’t encourage ridicule like this on a respectable website like this. Given the usual “press pounding” low-climate-sensitivity proponents receive, we could all point to inconsistencies between the high-climate-sensitivity proponents’ actions and their message. However, such an approach is flawed since it lends partial credence for their message (eg the Imam got drunk dilemma). By calling people for their hypocrisy you convey to them some sort of apparent authority.
Other than that I wish Mann happy travels sponsored by unregulated-carbon-fueled airlines.
