NOTE: (I had this at the bottom of the post some people missed it so I moved it up to the top) I’m not convinced that this idea has any merit whatsoever, as I see more conventional reasons (like silting) for land recovery such as at Rome’s original harbor and in New York, but thought it was worth posting for the discussion that would ensue. Even bad science deserves to be discussed/disproven. See also a note below. – Anthony
Isostacy is a major Geological error.
Guest essay by Richard Guy
The Governments of the United States and Canada are concerned about the ebbing water levels in the Great Lakes. For years the water levels in the great lakes and other lakes have been declining without any signs of ever returning to previous levels. The best news is that there is no hope that the water levels will ever return. The bad news is that we have our heads stuck in the sand dunes which have been created on the shores of the great lakes as they recede.
What we have also failed to notice is that the process is speeding up faster than our ability to grasp the reality. The fact is that this process of ebbing lake and water levels has been going on since pre history but we are just becoming aware of it as more and more shoreline inhabitants observe the phenomenon.
Another major deterrent to our overall realization is that our thought processes are hampered, among other things, by the media hype of rising sea levels and Post Glacial Rebound. Post Glacial Rebound is a geological error which has been foisted on us for a long time. It is time that we outlaw this false concept of Glacial Rebound and release a new era of exiting discoveries which have remained hidden by this mistaken premise.
Isostatic Rebound was introduced into Geological theology over one hundred years ago and it has lead us astray. This theory of Iostacy was based on an original error in deduction. The error in deduction was that the land rose from the sea. This original error was compounded when the theory of Post Glacial Rebound was built on it. This led us even further away from the truth.
We will never solve the disappearing water problem until we face the reality that we have been mislead by Iostacy. We have to face this reality because this reality is now facing us: we are losing water all over the planet while we continue to harp on rising seas levels.
Once we abandon Isostatic Rebound we will see the reality of receding seas. This path will also lead us to other interesting discoveries such as why the seas recede.? Once we accept that seas are receding that acceptance will automatically eliminate Post Glacial Rebound. There is no time to waste because our survival depends on this acceptance.
What is really occurring is that the sea levels have been falling from pre historic times. Rivers have been draining the land and the lakes since pre-historic times. As Sea levels fall lower and lower the draining process moves faster and faster and we lose our wetlands as more and more land is left behind by the receding seas. Sand dunes now line the shores of the great lakes where people used to swim and boats used to be moored. Many marinas have been deserted leaving boats stranded on sand bars. This is also a cause of the amount of arid land which is increasing worldwide.
Graph from: http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/data/now/wlevels/dbd/
So it is wise at this stage to give the lie to rising sea levels and accept receding sea levels. This will not stop the water loss but it will make us understand what we have to do in order to preserve what little water we do have left.
New York is learning about receding seas because the marshes in Jamaica Bay are disappearing and drying up. New Jersey is dealing with the receding sea by selling off the new land left by the sea to Donald Trump and Playboy Hotels and Casinos. Donald Trump built his Taj Mahal Casino on these lands left by the receding sea.
Now that The State of New Jersey has discovered the land bonanza they are gaining as the sea recedes they have been looking over old survey maps to find out where the sea was back in 1776. They are proposing to claim retroactive taxes from landowners who have occupied these lands back to those historical times. They estimate that they have accumulated 830000 acres of land from the sea since 1776. The State of New York can make a similar claim as it includes long Island the Sounds and Brooklyn Shorelines. An exhibition by the New York Library in 2010 showed the mapping of the New York shoreline over three hundred years. The entire New York coastline has gained a quarter mile of land over that period.
So when we see the water levels falling in the Great lakes that is only the tip of the iceberg. Those levels have been falling for a very long time and will continue to do so. If we want to get a picture of what our earth will eventually look like just look at the face of the Planet Mars.
The first order of business is to get rid of the Isostatic Rebound theory and accept that our seas are receding as our planet expands. The sea is not rising. We will then see why our lakes are going dry. We will also understand that the only thing we can do about it is to keep dredging our waterways harbours and lakes to keep things moving. That was all three Emperors of Rome could do to keep the Harbour at Ostia open: they were finally defeated. It took Nero, Trajan and Articus one hundred years of dredging before they gave up the fight against the receding sea. Today Ostia is three miles from the sea and twenty feet above sea level.
The Port Authority in New York is having to blast bedrock, for the first time, to keep the harbour channels open. The sea keeps getting shallower and the seagoing vessels keep getting larger. Ships keep demanding deeper depths.
Our Planet Earth is dynamic. It is a masterful creation not unlike other planets in the Cosmos. The earth does not reveal her secrets readily and her secrets are often presented to us as a mirror image of what is really happening. So when we observe that land is rising it may just be a mirror image: our seas are receding.

UPDATE: for those who never read past the first few paragraphs to see my caveat, I’ve now moved it up top for better visibility.
Some people asked why I should publish “rubbish science” like this. The reason is the same that I often publish some “rubbish science”from climatology; it deserves ridicule for the ridiculous premise of the idea.
At some point, when the next ice age kicks in, we will start to see the seas recede. We are nowhere close to that.
The new land that Mr. Guy sees is from silting deposition. For example the delta of the Mississippi river continues to grow each year for that reason.
Plus, with GPS enabled altimetry systems, we can now actually measure isotasy changes. – Anthony

If the earth were rotating when you dropped a weight off a high tower it would not drop straight down but the earth would move under it and it would drop some distance from the ‘tower. By experiment we observe that an object falls “straight down” EQD the experiment ” proves” to any idiot that earth is not rotating. The rest of us get headaches.
I think we are being polite to a troll. It is always important to be graceful but this string is past the pale and getting funny.

Clarity and brevity are a sign of intelligent interchange. Make your point you man of science.
See Galileo’s Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems (1632) I presented the short version of the Ariistolean evidential claim that he earth is not rotating. Galileo argued that the empirical claim is false because it relies on a false empirical assumption of what would happen if the earth were rotating.
Evidence statements need to be empirically complete. Yours are like the example cited are consistently not appropriately constructed and thus cannot be demonstrated to be true by a priori calculation..
David Hume made the point that when we make an inductive inference from an observed facts to a generalization , or to another fact not yet observed, we suppose that there is some causal connection between the two and we are NEVER justified in doing so. ( more or less from Evidence and Method, Achinstein, Oxford University Press 2013 pp30.) David Hume “A Treatise of Human Narure” 1739 http://www.goutenburg.org
You have made statements, assertions that are not appropriately constructed and escalated when questioned to increasingly bizarre,Inductive fallacies. Given a number of possible explanations for my observations I choose to question your sincerity rather than intelligence… but never the less enjoyed the dialogue and insight into your philosophy of evidence.. I wish you peace and happiness on your journey.
Thanks HalftiderRock for the concession that I am right about Lava emissions cooling and expanding to create the mysterious growth of the earth. You scientists get caught up in a lot of your own traditional concepts which were handed down to you by Darwin who was a naturalist and Jameison who was no a geologist and then Agazzis who was a Glacierologist and Ice age proponents. He based his Ice Age on Raised Beaches. The rest is Isostatic. THINK?
GPS with its myriad assumptions is inaccurate and quite incapable of measuring the subtle expansion of he earth which is miniscule over the short term. The expansion is also ubiquitous as it occurs everywhere earthquakes occur. It will take a more sophisticated mode of measurement to measure the variations of earth expansion. Ran McNally showed that the Earth has expanded to twice its original size and is still expanding and will continue to expand to twice what it is today before it is incinerated by the expanding sun. Oh yes the Sun is also expanding. Duh!!!.
I just go a very encouraging comment from a member of the Expanding Earth Fraternity. He reminded me that we had met at the Expanding Earth Convention in Erice, Sicily. He had been reading the comments and slurs hurled at me an encouraged me to persevere. I said that I had been persevering for a very long time to try and get the message out. I have had some success sometimes from the most unlikely places such as Australia where there is a lot of problems with the rezoning of foreshore lands. The City councils are rezoning all foreshore lands and prohibiting the owners from building on them because they are too close to sea level. The problem is that as soon as the land is rezoned it loses its seafront value and big corporations come in and buy the land.
Naturally its creating a lot of legalities. I learned of this development at the Sicily conference.
David Noel is a supported and he is with the Franklin Institute in Australia. His web page has interesting information about the rezoning problems. I will post his web page link in another post
Richard Guy
David.noel@gmail.com is in Australia at the Franklin Institute. Look at his Website and learn whats happening in Australia. He and other Australians have sent me photos of the seas recession over time. The Nullibar Desert David tells me was once sea floor. H,,, e knows whats happening with earth expansion in Australia.
…the Hubble Constant is given in km per second per megaparsec and relates to the acceleration observed in ever more distant bodies observed in the universe.
Last night I considered mentioning what seemed like an obvious conclusion to me, but I left it out because I didn’t think anyone would seriously try to claim that the universe expanding could be used to justify claims that the planet is expanding.
The obvious conclusion being that if the planet and universe were expanding at the same rate, there would be no way distinguish this, as the very things we rely upon to determine such expansion would be changing at the very rate they supposedly were meant to identify!
Indeed if this WERE true, then either everything including all of us would be growing at the same rate–which is indistinguishable from no change at all–or we would appear to be shrinking relative to everything else.
So yeah, if you paid money for a book in which some crank tried to argue that an acceleration on the scale of kilometers per second per megaparsec (about 3,600 light years, close to 20 quadrillion miles if you prefer those units, I think) would even be remotely detectable in terms of the expansion of a planet measuring a handful of kilometers across, fractions of a light-second?
You got ripped off, hard.
Come down the earth and observe that it is expanding and as it does the seas recede. This process is on going and we should make an effort to study the phenomenon during your lifetime as I have done. I have been lucky to have been able to visit several different locations over an engineering career and see that the Docks we are building on the Persian Gulf were being built on lands that were deserted by the receding sea. I saw the same thing in Wales, UK earlier on. I observed the seas recession in the Bahamas while building there. In New York the same occurs when you look at the location of Pearl Street today compared to renderings of 300 years ago in the New York Public Library. I was in Hudson Bay a week ago and the elders there say the Bay is getting shallow. The fisherman in Jamaica who showed me the wall where he used to dive off as a boy is now far inland embedded in sand. The search for the two Columbus ships scuttled in Jamaica still continues but no longer in the sea. They are now searching a quarter mile inland for the Island of Jamaica has grown six miles of new land in five hundred years as the sea recedes.
New Jersey has realized the land bonanza by the use of Aerial photography since 1922. They are now selling off the lands at fantastic prices to developers and charging retroactive land taxes to occupants of the lands over the years since 1776.
The Harbour at Ostia which is now the Rome Airport and the coast of Britain where St Michel Mount is now joined to the mainland where I had to tae a boat to it years ago. Come down to Earth and smell the roses. Richard Guy
“The Times they are a changing” Let us change some of the old concepts by thinking the process through. Let us get rid of the old concepts that hold back interesting discoveries. These discoveries are awaiting us if we just think and question what has been handed to us. These old concepts handed down to us were composed by people just like us who made mistakes and ploughed right on and were finally accepted. It does not mean that they were right. So this is our day and age so let us make the most of it and question what we have been taught. You will find that a lot of it is fiction???? and the rest is myth. Think for yourself Richard Guy
Hell!
You are telling me GPS is not accurate enough to measure isostatic rebound… yet we can somehow detect an acceleration of 68 km/s/megaparsec accurately across the scale of a planet?
Do you know how many zeroes there are after the decimal point in that rate of acceleration if measured across a distance of mere thousands of kilometers?
As for the pacific, I’m sure you’ll argue it isn’t valid information because it uses GPS, but: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7c/Global_plate_motion_2008-04-17.jpg
Surely you would at least agree that GPS receivers can accurately distinguish motion relative to other receivers, yes?
So what exactly is your explanation for these motions?
Is it a conspiracy of some sort to fudge all GPS devices to falsely suggest that they are riding on rafts of rock floating on an ocean of magma?
Do you know what’s funny? You are right to a point, material from within the planet does indeed come up to the surface and cool, and many types of lava undergo expansion after cooling.
Know what happens when you pile enough rock on top of other rock?
The pressure increases until the rock at the bottom is heated sufficiently for it to melt, and over long enough periods of time the planet tends towards a sphere with a given radius set by the mass and composition.
It is called gravitational rounding, it is why certain asteroids and moons are lumpy and oddly shaped while every body in the universe above a certain size is rounded towards a sphere, with the only significant variation coming from catastrophic events deforming said sphere, or rapid rotation deforming the spheroid.
It’s not a good idea to be condescending AND utterly wrong about so many things, or as you would say “THINK!”, right?
It is difficult as a teacher to accept that some people are just happier being wrong than admitting their errors, good luck Richard, I don’t have time to bash my head against the wall of ignorance you’ve built around your beliefs.
I don’t get involved in useless arguments that have nothing to do with the issue under discussion.
I know you are incapable of thinking on your own and need the mass support of others of your ilk. That I fully understand so in like manner I put you back where I found you.
Anthony, where did you find this guy (sic)? And is it too late to put him back where you found him?

Please try to think about the meaning of words, or at least learn how to use spell check.
For instance, it’s Nullarbor Plain, as in “no trees”.
There is not a shred of credible evidence in favor of the Expanding Earth Fantasy. The mass & diameter of the planet have been virtually the same as now since it cooled following the Late Heavy Bombardment, if not before. There is all the evidence in the world in favor of plate tectonics, isostatic adjustment & marine transgression & regression.
The sun is another matter, being a star rather than a planet. It is indeed slowly expanding & will in billions of years go giant.
Not worth it, milodon, he’s already reached the “you’re all against me for my revolutionary ideas” stage of crankdom unfortunately.
There is a point when someone can be saved from descending too far, where they will actually critically consider their own knowledge and beliefs, and even recognize that there are such things as facts supported by evidence which contradict their positions.
Upon recognizing this, they might even say “I was wrong” and thus begins the process of learning.

Richard gave you guys a chance to show your true colors .. and intellect ,, and manners. And he reminded me of why I stopped commenting here and stopped reading the comments. If I see one more post by Monckton, I’ll stop visiting this site.
I was very pleased when I discovered WUWT for I thought that I could air my views and have them discussed. I never professed to be a scientist. In fact I said up front that my observations over forty years has been from my engineering experience. I very early learned of the departure of the sea from many of the locations where I was building. In subsequent years I researched history to find out where sea levels were back then. I soon realized that much of what we had been taught was wrong. I started to chart my own course trying to get people, who should know better. to think.
When the first cable was laid across the Atlantic it snapped and kept snapping. The result was costly recurring repairs that threatened the enterprise. The experts said that the cables were being snapped by undersea landslides and turbidity currents. When my father first related this story to me I was perhaps ten years old but I remember distinctly thinking that there was some other reason for the snapping cables. It took 100 years for the problem to be solved. With the discovery of the Mid Atlantic Rift. It was discovered that there were two parallel mountain ranges running in the Middle of the Atlantic. The mountains were one mile apart with a canyon in between the size of the Grand Canyon. The small transmission cable had been spanning the one mile gorge and that was why the cable snapped. There was never any undersea landslides or Turbidity currents to start with but that is what we were told back then. So think of all the other crap that has been handed down to us for us to swallow. Just sixty years we all thought the sea floor was level. Look at what we have found out since. Just Think of what we have learned and we still believe in Isostatic Rebound. THINK?
Richard Guy says:
September 4, 2013 at 8:46 pm
Isostatic rebound & its opposite are not a matter of belief. They are observable facts. No thinking person could deny their reality.
Because the seafloor may once have been thought flat does not argue against isostatic adjustment, which is today as observable a scientific fact as that the earth goes around the sun, once a fact only inferred.
Do you imagine that the earth has expanded & contracted throughout its history to explain marine transgressions & regressions? What might cause it to inflate & deflate like a balloon, if so? The seas go in & go out not because the earth changes size but because the water warms & cools, while also perhaps becoming less plentiful. Other real scientific explanations for observed geological & hydrological phenomena are superior to the fantasy that earth suddenly changes size.
I showed my true colors, I asked questions, explained why I was dubious about his claims, and his responses consisted of unrelated anecdotes mixed with insulting suggestions that I don’t “THINK!”.
I’m not the one essentially calling anyone who disagrees with me a mindless zombie or an unquestioning sheep. Richard is the one doing that here.
When the flaws in his logic were pointed out, his response was more anecdotes and more insulting orders to “THINK!” so I’m not sure about anyone else, but after getting no direct responses to anything despite him having clicked the Reply button to one of my posts, as evidenced by the little orange indicator icon by my name showing a reply… well, I’m glad I didn’t waste more time trying to be helpful and explain anything to someone who can be assumed to be aware of the facts and simply doesn’t care.

Given my reading comprehension is close to zero, this was almost a cruel joke. I kept doubting what I was reading. I had to reread several times before I got it. I was unable to find the awesome Alaska picture showing glacial rebound that would convince anyone. Also the great lakes are expanding and sucking down houses at least from what I read.
There is a video:
Best glacial rebound picture I could find:
http://www.juneau.org/parkrec/trails/amalga.php
I read the article about Post Glacial Rebound; Interesting. But WHAT IF? its the sea that is receding? There is another article about Juneau in the New York Times Archives showing that the Glaciers are melting and the land is still rising. Look it up. If it is that the sea is receding from the shoreline we have to ask WHY? Are the Hymalayas still rebounding at 29000 feet. Is Mount Rarat still rebounding at 16900 feet. Is Juneau still rebounding at 5 feet since 1948. Is Jamaica rebounding at that same rate of 5 feet since 1940. Is Britain rebounding at that same rate. Is Australia rebounding at that same rate. Is Mt Kilomanjaro rebounding at that same rate from sea level because it is covered with pillow lava. Was the entire covered with ice or water? Is the entire earth rebounding??? and if so how much rebounding has to go on before it reaches a state of equilibrium????? Richard Guy
The Himalayas aren’t rebounding. They are being pushed up by India moving northwards into Asia. Something that wouldn’t be possible with your inflationary earth theory since it dictates that things are moving apart. Perhaps you would like to explain why the Pacific is shrinking as the Atlantic continues to widen since you do not subscribe to the idea of tectonic plates and subduction zones.
I have been fascinated by the exchanges in this string. I am interested in the philosophy of science and scientific method. Pure Kafkesque structure of an argument and what constitutes evidence that is sufficient. “By believing passionately in something that still does not exist, we create it. The nonexistent is whatever we have not sufficiently desired” Franz Kafka.
It seems that Richard Guy is either a fervent believer in this theory or is a troll. It really doesn’t matter for the purpose of my interest. It appears that easily discernible phenomena which would normally refute the theory are ignored or even “turned around” as if they support rather than contemplated as a potential criticism of the theory..
I attempted to point out that the evidence offered to support the theory did not support the theory.but in form supported other theories which were not related to his theory.
There is something going on in this dialogue that is important to focus in on. I am in a bit of a loss to explain the concept that I am groping for. I just happen to be reading a book called “the Lost Art of Finding Our Way” Huth 2013. PP 33. It is about innate navigation techniques. As a society we do seem to have lost our way so the title is fitting. Never the less a concept is introduced it is called “bending the map”. This is a known phenomena which has happened to any navigator where in the early stages of getting lost an individual tries extremely hard to force the map to comply with what is being observed and as a consequence the lost individual convinces themselves that they are where they are not. It has happened to me more times than I wish to acknowledge. Only by an abundance of caution and skepticism in my own “knowledge” and assumptions that I haven’t seriously come to grief.
The process of bending the map continues until something triggers a realization that the evidence is overwhelming and that try as hard as you can to fit what you are experiencing to the map there is no way that you can be where you thought you were. I look out of my window at the bones of a sailing vessel whose master was on the rocks before he discerned his missidentification of the headland. Thump crash is truly a rude awakening to reality.
This thread has examined rules of evidence, Scientific Method and dynamic disagreements about what constitutes evidence. So far dissuasion has been an exercise in futility. In the final analysis logic really does not prevail when you are bending the map until that one additional piece of information comes in that is sufficient to make you realize that you are not where you thought you were,
We are all really trying to find our way and make good decisions. It is hard for me to understand why people will look at evidence and it doesn’t compute until I understand that I have been there before and there is a process that has to be carried out before any of us can acknowledge that we are bending the map and really don’t know where we are. In some individuals skepticism take s over immediately and the error is discovered quickly with no bad consequences.
I have a fairly good fix on where I am so Mr Guy’s evidence hasn’t shaken my belief system. I examine his theory and evidence with curiosity to see if he can improve my understanding of the world .I had never heard of expanding earth theory before on is evidence t fails. He has been unconvincing but at the same time helpful because thinking about the dialogue has introduced the concept of bending the map as a theory of why contrary evidence is not (yet) sufficient to shake Mr Guy’s confidence in the theory he is proposing.
Hopefully there will be no crash bang!
Hello Half tide rock I read through your comment and found it well stated because you were objective, straightforward and by no means offensive. I too am comfortable where I am having researched the subject I speak about for the greater part of forty years. This lates news of a hugh volcano under the Pacific is heartening because it confirms what I am trying to convey. That is that hugh amounts of lava have been ejected from the earth,s interior in the past millions of years and is still being ejected daily everywhere both on land and under the sea. The sea covers 70% of the earth so the ejection process takes place out of sight but contributes to the earths girth. So what I am saying is that all the scientific minds focus on “Where is the Mass increase? I think it is so obvious that the increase is volume not mass. Magma is ejected under tremendous pressure and as it becomes lava it expands to eight times its volume inside the earth. It expands in volume and looses it density. That is why pumice can float as it becomes lighter than water. SO having said that I again state that as the earth increases in volume sea levels must fall because the area of the sea floor is increasing. One thought therefore follows another so we move on. As the earth grows over millions of years we are totally unaware of the growth. The recession of the seas have been going on as long as the earth has been expanding and again we are totally unaware of that also. Each successive generation of our species believes that the sea has always been at the same level because we don’t know of the growth of the earth and the resultant recession of the seas. So when Darwin observed sea fossils high above the sea in South America and the Pacific Islands he concluded that the land mass had risen from the sea. This is because he like all of us think the sea level has been a constant through the ages. “THAT IS WHERE THE WHOLE THEORY GOES WRONG” The sea level has always been receding as the earth has grown so any assumption opposed to that is wrong.
Later on Agazzis came along and built his theory on Darwins misconception. Agazzis stated that the reason the land mass is rising is because of the heavy ice burden imposed on the land from the last Ice Age. Any student of logic knows that any hypothesis based on a misconception must be wrong. I just wanted you to read this out of respect for the cordial manner in which you presented your comment and I hope you can respond in like manner. I have ample proof of what I say this is just the basis of whole list of errors which have been handed down to us to swallow.I can relate much more. Thanks
Richard Guy
Hello Half Tide Rock . I read your very good comment on bending the map and understand fully what you are saying. I also noted that you are comfortable with your beliefs. So am I. I have enough research over the years to bring to the table substantial proof if only I can be heard. What it requires is open minded people who will think the process through before pronouncing judgement. That is the only way we can move forwards towards consensus. I am so thankful that you have injected some sanity into the dialogue i.e. bending the map. I like your analogy. Am I bending the map or am I rowing upstream against a relentless current of apathy.? I have to thank Anthony for getting my comments into the WUWT arena of discussion. I have been encouraged to stick to my guns. All I am saying is that Isostatic Rebound is a Myth. It never happened and is not happening. SO you can put me in chains as an heretic or haul and quarter me or put me in the stocks but I am not bending the map. Thanks Half Tide Rock and Thanks Anthony for the exposure
I am always encouraged by Wegener,s experience when he presented his theory of Plate Tectonics to the American Scientific Society just about one hundred years ago. The PresIdent of the Society declare his theory “UTTER DAMMED ROT” so I am prepared to put my views forward
for discussion for I have full confidence that I am not ending the map. And on a closing note HALF TIDE ROCK I have been on several occasions at sea and or on a lake and know exactly what you mean by bending the map. Richard Guy

Why would you post this kind of crap? Joke? Are you committing scientific suicide? Trying to drive traffic away from your blog so you can go down a band in fees? Have you been hacked? You said the comments would be worth the inclusion of this tripe, and in doing so you have pinned your own nonsense on to it. The comments have been far too polite. Which airports or even highways has this fool built on land left behind by the seas?
This fool has build Airports on lands left behind by the seas. But let me just give you some high profile examples such a JFK previously Idelwild and La Guardia. The United Nations building in New York and the Twin Towers in New York A couple of years ago archaeologists unearthed the hull of a ship at Ground Zero which is 1800 feet from the Hudson River Today. The hull of a ship was also unearthed on Pearl Street on the East side of Manhattan some years ago. Pearl Street is
approximately 2000 feet from the Easy River today. The,so called, EAst River is an arm of the Sea not a river. The Henry Hudson Drive on the West side of Manhattan was constructed on lands left behind b the sea. FDR highway in Manhatten is constructed on land reclaimed for the East River. In New Jersey the entire Atlantic City hotel development has been carried out on lands that were left behind by the sea. So why is it that if you want information you just don’t ask instead of labelling it crap. And why is it that having shown clearly that you don’t understand you hide behind insulting language which shows your ignorance or arrogance even more. I can give you a hundred more examples all over the world but I have given you high profile examples which you can assimilate before coming back for more. Perhaps you will know one of these places I mentioned above. Cheers
Richard Guy
Richard Guy, your claim of “land left behind by the seas” isn’t credible in NYC, It is a combination effect of natural infill from silting deposition, but mostly man made infill. Laguardia was almost entirely man made as we can see in these before and after photos from this article: http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/06/18/quite-possibly-the-dumbest-example-of-tabloid-climatology-ever-from-climate-centrals-andrew-freedman/
