RATES of mental illnesses including depression and post-traumatic stress will increase as a result of climate change, a report to be released today says.
The paper, prepared for the Climate Institute, says loss of social cohesion in the wake of severe weather events related to climate change could be linked to increased rates of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress and substance abuse.
As many as one in five people reported ”emotional injury, stress and despair” in the wake of these events.
OK, well then, just a thought or two.
1. The average daily diurnal temperature variation varies greatly with location and latitude and altitude. From Wikipedia: High desert areas typically have the greatest diurnal temperature variations. Low lying, humid areas typically have the least. This explains why an area like the Snake River Plain can have high temperatures of 38°C (100°F) during a summer day, and then have lows of 5-10°C (40-50°F). Yes that must be it, that tiny variation over 100 years, an order of magnitude or more smaller than daily and seasonal variation is what’s causing the loss of social cohesion and making people worldwide crazy.

In this article, we attempt to look at the diverse aspects of climate and mental health: seasonal climate variation and its effect on mental health, extreme weather conditions and their psychological impact and specific climatic disasters and their consequences.

Frightening children and causing depression in children are bad enough. But Warmista go way beyond that, especially Al Gore. They want the children to become very angry because their parents and grandparents deprived them of the environment that existed in, say, 1950. They want the children to be angry enough that they declare a right to the environment of 1950. Restoring this environment will be the work of every responsible person, that is, every person older than a child. This responsibility will be met through fewer freedoms and greater government control. The main item is much higher taxes to the central government (and someday the world government) so that it can restore the climate that the angry children have a right to. (For an example of the results of this kind of thinking, see the recent riots in England.)
Al Gore is the consummate front man. He seems so stupid that it is hard to imagine that his goals are fully in line with Stalin’s.

AGW theory does not *cause* mental illness, it merely *reveals* it.
I suspect a febrile media with apocalyptic warnings is far more likely to induce mental illness than the actual weather.
It is uncertainty which stimulates stress responses. It is continual ‘balance in the media’ aka running two stories with different implications which probably contributes to schizophrenia. And it is politicians who think that scaring the populace is the way to get them to be ‘more green’ who are ultimately responsible.
The climate? Gimme a break…..
There may be a thread of truth to this article but the authors have no idea – it’s the guilt trip these AGW fanatics lay on people, particularly seniors and others on the periphery of the discussion that is more likely the cause of any said depression. These AGW types are the most irresponsible group of people to champion a cause I’ve ever seen.

My guess is that this entire study was funded by a government grant.
I feel stressed out about rising energy costs due to Irelands ridiculous Carbon Tax. I feel mental anguish when I read pumped up tripe about how we are either going to burst into balls of flame or drown. And I get downright depressed when I even hear Joe Romm’s name. So yes, Climate Change Causes Mental Illness.

Climate Change Causes Mental Illness
That’s crazy talk!.
Climate change is just the latest incarnation of the message that we are destroying the planet and dooming ourselves.
When I was younger, my young cousin, who was about 10 at the time, began crying hysterically when we kicked up an old rusty spray paint can that had been left outside an it started leaking (hissing). He kept saying all the trees were going to die and we wouldn’t be able to breath anymore and started hyperventilating. This is what the teachers taught us on Earth Day (Arbor Day).
He finally stopped when his older sister and I put the can in a pipe and covered it up to make it look like we had stopped it. This was at the time when the ozone layer was about to disappear and kill us all and shortly before the killer bees were going to reach north america and attack everybody.
In the late 80’s and early 90’s I remember being terrified every time Newsweek had some apocalyptic fallout style map on the cover. Children now grow up with the idea ingrained in their minds that we are killing the Earth and some disaster is just around the corner.
Global warming is just the constant “we are destroying the Earth” drumbeat reaching critical mass. After this is over, it will be something else. This is making everybody mental and the only prescription is a little education.
Since I try to behave here and have been plunging the sword into the heads of hapless warmists for a long, LONG time, and no longer even make believe I’m ‘playing off so-&-so’s comment’ or ‘responding’ – I just say what I want to, and then I watch ignorant warmers s.t.(blank) up, again I’ll repeat for everyone, so they can throw this directly into the face of the next moonbarking LOON they see who thought it was warming since the mid ’90s:
In order for there to be a G.H.G. Effect, there would have to be – an EFFECT. But, in the past SEVERAL decades as we have all watched manmade gas contributions multiply, the amount of ATMOSPHERIC INFRA-RED, has D.E.C.R.E.A.S.E.D.
Now: the DEFINITION of HEAT on GAS is MOTION of that gas. Not maybe or usually, it’s one of the defining characteristics of heat,
on a gas.
Yet, in ALL these YEARS, not ONE STUDENT: not ONE PROFESSOR; not ONE A.N.Y.B.O.D.Y. has simply GONE and GOTTEN the PHOTOS of SECTIONS of the SKY from the early 1900s, then SHOWN US, the MANDATORY INCREASE in ATMOSPHERIC MOTION as SEEN through OPTICAL TELESCOPES, as the DECADES have PASSED.

is ALSO called,
the STARS TWINKLING over those TWINKs’ HEADS.
And if THAT ATMOSPHERE gets HOTTER, it MUST SCINTILLATE MORE: the STARS, must TWINKLE more VIGOROUSLY.
And of course that hasn’t been happening, because there IS no more heat in the atmosphere today.
Now since manmade gases have been rising uncontrolled, if there were A.N.Y. G.H.G. Effect at ALL, we would all be UNABLE to DENY THAT, because the OPTICAL TELESCOPY FIELD would be SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER as they TROTTED OUT the PHOTOS of the SKY, getting MORE and MORE DISTORTED
by mandatory GAS MOTION.
Secondly, the INFRA-RED TELESCOPY BUSINESS would be SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER about the RISE in MANDATORY ATMOSPHERIC INFRA-RED, compromising THEIR viewing, and reducing the number of days per year they could use THEIR instruments.
Oh – and there are ASSEMBLIES built, which FLEX the MIRRORS of TELESCOPES to ADJUST for ATMOSPHERIC SCINTILLATION: HEAT DISTORTION.
And ya notice how the people who MAINTAIN these TELESCOPE MIRROR FLEXING assemblies are UTTERLY SILENT?
Notice you NEVER HEARD OF THEM BEFORE?
That’s BECAUSE THEY ARE U.T.T.E.R.L.Y. SILENT about their having to adjust (flex) the mirrors, MORE and MORE and MORE, to ADJUST for MORE and MORE HEAT.
And they’re SILENT because they don’t have O.N.E. SYLLABLE to UTTER about RISING ATMOSPHERIC MOTION creating more DISTORTION because there IS NO RISING MOTION because there IS NO RISING QUANTITY of HEAT in the atmosphere.
If there WAS, then there MIGHT be a REAL GREEN HOUSE GAS EFFECT.
Since they’re all UTTERLY SILENT – that silence is DEAFENING: if you believed there was such thing as a Greenhouse Gas Effect, you’d better be prepared to explain how it is, that these GASES can ABSORB EVER MORE HEAT, yet NOT become more ACTIVE.
Since NO WARMER will EVER be able to reply to your seeming to grasp that the STARS TWINKLING over their HEADS are MOCKING THEM NIGHTLY, be prepared for them to CUT their EYES to the FLOOR and then AROUND without LOOKING at YOU.
So: to RECAP, we have the recent 14 year study of the North American Midwest stating they found LESS atmospheric i.r. than before 3/4 of the year.
THAT’S NOT POSSIBLE IF THERE WERE A G.H.G. Effect.
We have the field which helped Einstein cement RELATIVITY by MEASURING the DEFLECTION of a BEAM of STARLIGHT by the GRAVITATION of BODIES it PASSED crossing the UNIVERSE – OPTICAL TELESCOPY –

Uh, no. They’re SILENT because there IS no more distortion. One check of the NUMBER of YEARLY VIEWING DAYS (nights) will prove there aren’t FEWER due to ATMOSPHERIC SCINTILLATION: the STARS TWINKLING – ever more vigorously.
If there WERE actually a G.H.G. Effect, THAT is IMPOSSIBLE. You WOULDN’T BE ABLE to SHUT them all UP they’d be so eager to explain and show.
Then the INFRA-RED TELESCOPY FIELD. Any word from them as INFRA-RED has POLLUTED their INSTRUMENTS, and generally RUINING the VIEWING CONDITIONS?
EVEN after the study that reported LESS INFRA RED… they’re SILENT? As many instruments ARE RENDERED LESS and LESS USABLE?
Finally we have the PEOPLE who MAINTAIN and BUILD the TELESCOPE MIRROR FLEXING ASSEMBLIES, which ADJUST, for the VERY DISTORTION we are discussing – how is it they are UTTERLY, UTTERLY SILENT as atmospheric distortion makes them need to flex mirrors MORE, and MORE?
No.
There IS no such thing as a Greenhouse Gas Effect. If there is, you’d better have the proof of how you revoked the definition of HEAT on GAS being M.O.T.I.O.N.
So FLICK THAT into the STUNNED FACE of the NEXT WARMER HILLBILLY who tries to tell you there is a Green House Gas Effect.
