It will be remembered as the day the greens bombed Copenhagen with limousines.

From the Telegraph, the tale of elitist excess begins:
On a normal day, Majken Friss Jorgensen, managing director of Copenhagen’s biggest limousine company, says her firm has twelve vehicles on the road. During the “summit to save the world”, which opens here tomorrow, she will have 200. “We thought they were not going to have many cars, due to it being a climate convention,” she says. “But it seems that somebody last week looked at the weather report.”
Ms Jorgensen reckons that between her and her rivals the total number of limos in Copenhagen next week has already broken the 1,200 barrier. The French alone rang up on Thursday and ordered another 42. “We haven’t got enough limos in the country to fulfil the demand,” she says. “We’re having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden.”
And the total number of electric cars or hybrids among that number? “Five,” says Ms Jorgensen. “The government has some alternative fuel cars but the rest will be petrol or diesel. We don’t have any hybrids in Denmark, unfortunately, due to the extreme taxes on those cars. It makes no sense at all, but it’s very Danish.”
But wait, there’s more!
The airport says it is expecting up to 140 extra private jets during the peak period alone, so far over its capacity that the planes will have to fly off to regional airports – or to Sweden – to park, returning to Copenhagen to pick up their VIP passengers.
As well 15,000 delegates and officials, 5,000 journalists and 98 world leaders, the Danish capital will be blessed by the presence of Leonardo DiCaprio, Daryl Hannah, Helena Christensen, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Prince Charles. A Republican US senator, Jim Inhofe, is jetting in at the head of an anti-climate-change “Truth Squad.” The top hotels – all fully booked at £650 a night – are readying their Climate Convention menus of (no doubt sustainable) scallops, foie gras and sculpted caviar wedges.

Well this morning, I was able to hear a direct report from Copenhagen from Lord Monckton; the third Viscount Monckton of Brenchley. He’s an extremely polished speaker; and his report was quite extensive (on KSFO radio early morning talk show).
If you haven’t ever Googled up Lord Monckton, and read his bio; you ought to do that to see just who he is. Even just as interesting, is to also read the bios of his father the second Viscount (British Army Bigwig); and even more interesting his grandfather the first Viscount Monckton of Brenchley. He was a prominent Attorney (counsel) who shepherded the abdication of King Edward, and the ascendency of King George VI (whose real name was evidently Albert).
Perhaps you may want to contemplate what might have happened in 1939/40 when WW-II broke out; in the event that Edward had still been on the throne. I have; and it gives me the heebie Jeebies, just thinking about it.
Yes we have much to be thankful to Lord Monckton for, and his family.
The final words of his talk this morning were “God bless America.”
Yes Christopher might outdo his Grandfather’s service to mankind. Quite a contrast with the Prince of Wales.
Hypocrisy? No. It’s kleptocracy.
here’s what i wrote them:
“Science first IPCC otherwise stop talking because you are emitting CO2”
They replied that the words were not correct. What did I do wrong?

United States Headed for Massive Decline in Carbon Emissions: With U.S. carbon emissions dropping 9 percent in two years, the nation has ended a century of rising carbon emissions and entered a new energy era

Sorry guys, I’m not coming 🙂 Have better things to do than save the world.

Very nice video Phil,
Thanks!

People just don’t seem to understand that the greens are more equal than the other barn animals.
Nah, they won’t even bother to feign ‘equal’

Why can’t people make an example of themselves and take their bike? Private jets? I mean really, that’s insane!
…meanwhile they tell us serfs to ride a bike to work…

Yeah, I’ll bite on that hook.
Mt. Diablo was covered in snow all the way to the bottom. When I left Lafayette at 3:00pm this afternoon it was still there. I’ve never seen that before since I’ve been living in the SF Bay Area. I’ve seen almost that much snow on Mt. Diablo in the morning before but I’ve never seen it stay all day.
Oh, yes, that’s right, this cold is caused by the warming we all can’t detect is still happening. What a travesty! 😉
there have been a number of assertions that Copenhagen is about setting up a “one world government” – which I took to be from the tin foil helmet wing – but having read the legal draft I am not so sure it is a completely mad suggestion
I can cut and paste the analysis here – if it will be of interest? Or is there a better blog to address it to
hipocrisy idd!
Great post!

Makes perfect sense to me. They are the good shepherds, who deserve the best. We are the dim, unruly flock, who need to be restrained. No hypocrisy, just different classes of people.
See “Climategate: The good shepherds”:
Agree with you Roger. It is not entirely out of arrogance this attitude arrives. But there is the sense of entitlement, and condescending stewardship. In this case the shepherds attempted to steward without first checking the viability of their story. And now discover that so much tampering has been required as to easily unravel.
Perhaps the shepherds will learn to confide in their flocks more – which will then grow trust between them. Not a bad lesson.

Yep, this could get dangerous. Many people around here have driven in the snowy Sierras with or without chains but, conversely, many haven’t.
I lived in Alberta, Canada for two years, and I’m from the North of England, so I’m not particularly fazed by this, but if it gets much below freezing tonight, it could be serious tomorrow morning.
I doubt that they have any gritters anywhere near here.
Be safe.
you figure these folks have huge entourages, so they probably need to have a limo or a van… dont think any world leaders would take mass transit… probably a security issue there
OT iguess, but still interesting:

A chilly 15c in Melbourne this morning, where 24c is the average for this time of year.
Sydney was predicted to be 35c today, 40c+ in the west where I am, but it rose to a fairly normal 28c in Sydney. It’s actually quite nice out there, I’d say about 32c.
So much for the “catasrophic” weather on it’s way for NSW.

Real problems lost in the pro-AGW and pro_Copenhagen stories in the MSM *sigh*.
AGW have all the signs of a religion.
The opening video is probably the worst i have seen.
But if the delegates belive in this are we not winning this important debate with facts.
“More than 2000 delegates watched the four-minute long film ‘Please Help the World’ when COP15 opened this morning. Thousands of other delegates watched the opening on screens in meeting rooms at the Bella Center.
“We have made a film which speaks to the heart rather than to the brain,” says the Danish director of the film Mikkel Blaabjerg Poulsen.
The film shows a six-year old girl who has a nightmare about the destruction of the planet due to climate change. She wakes up and begs politicians to “please help the world”, in a touching scene on top of a skyscraper.
“I hope that the film can affect politicians in a positive way, so that they may raise their goals a little higher, because their emotions have been touched,” says Mr. Poulsen. The film is made by Danish production company Zentropa RamBUk.”
Has any one told the children that they may freeze because we are going to pay alot more to keep warm .
And its the children of today that will suffer the most if Copenhagen is signed.
I hear the opening video was a real pearler, a planet going through it’s death throws.
I’ve just watched the opening COP15 video…and I am truely stunned. And I am pretty sure the little Afican child crying is from LiveAid back in the 80’s (But don’t quote me, I will try to check that out).
Here’s the link…
Just to confirm, yes the African baby crying in the TV program the girl is watching is from media footage during the Ethiopian famine of the early 1980’s.
Shocking! Clearly they believe people have short memories.
While I agree whole heartedly with your article, I feel the title should be changed. I see where someone had left a comment about removing ‘this dishonor to our Vets of WW2.’ The reason of course should not be dismissed and the play on words would suggest you knew what you were doing when you wrote the title. The attack on Pearl Harbor is still very painful to many Americans, especially those still living who were unfortunate enough to have to experience it first hand. I’m sure an apology or change of title would be greatly appreciated.
This is serious! Stag and hen parties across Europe will be denied limos because of this conference. They may have to stagger from bar to bar unaided.
It hit me this morning. I don’t think this is hypocrisy at all. Isn’t this just proof that those behind the climate change fear mongering don’t really believe it?
Think about it. If these 15,000 people truly believed that carbon emissions were destroying the planet, wouldn’t they find a way to have a zero carbon footprint meeting? Maybe video conference from multiple locations.
But they don’t. The insiders–those who know what’s really going on, have seen the really data, and know where the skeletons are buried–behave as if carbon emissions are meaningless.
I see this as another smoking gun that we are being defrauded.
