Expect Soon Another PIK Paper Claiming Warming Leads To Cold Snaps Over Europe

From the NoTricksZone

By P Gosselin

Winter across Europe has been on the mild side so far – just as predicted by global warming alarmists. But now the weather is about to turn cold.

A cold winter spell is beginning to settle over Europe and there’s a risk the public here might start having doubts about the global warming narrative – especially as heating bills skyrocket and gas reserves run out. Thus, let’s not be surprised if climate-alarm suspects soon rush out another dubious paper claiming that extreme  winter cold, too, is a telltale sign of warming.

Just-so story science

This was the case earlier. For example in 2010, in the middle of a bitter cold winter, PIK scientists Petoukhov et al published a paper, “A link between reduced Barents-Kara sea ice and cold winter extremes over northern continents” that found that sea ice loss in the Barents-Kara Seas could triple the probability of cold winter extremes in Europe.

In 2019, Kornhuber et al published a paper, Extreme weather events in early summer 2018 connected by a recurrent hemispheric wave-7 pattern that focused on summer heatwaves, This research tracks the “resonant amplification” of planetary waves that allegedly causes cold air to spill south and stay there for weeks.

PIK researchers, particularly Vladimir Petoukhov, suggest to have identified a specific non-linear relationship, and claim the atmosphere reacts most violently when sea ice concentration is around 40–80% in certain Arctic regions. When the ice disappears, the ocean releases a massive “bubble” of heat into the cold winter air, thus creating a local high-pressure system (an anti-cyclone) over the Arctic. This high-pressure system acts like a physical wall that pushes the Jet Stream south and forces cold, continental winds from Siberia to blow westward into Europe.

Stefan Rahmstorf and his team have also championed the theory, arguing that Arctic warming makes the “waves” in the Jet Stream grow much larger and to move much slower. So, you see warming also leads to unusual cold and harsh winter events across Europe”

As of January 2026, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and the broader scientific community have been tracking a highly unusual set of Arctic signals they believe align with the “less ice = harsher winters” mechanism (AMOC slowing, Tipping Points Report in October 2025, and the Arctic Report Card 2025 released just weeks ago.)

According to the PIK, we are no longer looking at “future risks” but rather the live observation of a destabilized system where low ice is creating a “heat dome” over the pole and is forcing the Jet Stream into a “stuck” position, leading to the current cold snaps.

Giraffe

Just-so science: Giraffes have long necks to reach high leaves. Image generated by Grok AI.

While the climate scientitsts insist this is well-grounded climate science, skeptics see it  for what it really is: a “just-so story” filled with pseudo-profound bullshit and science sophistry. It sounds perfectly logical and satisfying (e.g., giraffes have long necks to reach high leaves), but it lacks empirical evidence to prove it’s actually how things happen.

Happy New Year everyone!

Weel that’s easy to fix. You just have to re-align the crystal nodes with the ley lines and Gaia’s balance will be restored.

As this nonsense startet with the ice age scare,
emperical evidence has been excluded from the scientific climate process(and can therefore be no science outside of the Lysenkoist& Woke spectrum),
as it is should be impossible to get to 2 extremely contradicting results by using the same empiric data.

While world end scenario are already a thing close to impossibilty ( that’s why all of them have failed in religion and science – see Extinction Clock.Org ),
having 2 world end scenarios in a single domain like climate within a few years
can be classified as total nonsense (or from a crazy conspiratorial point of view – UN’ s ring to rule us all)

But it may exist on a quantum level as Schroedinger climate cat(who taxed the world) ,

I actually asked Mr Abott, but you 2 are a team therefore your response would be adequate – except there was not really one as you talk about the speculative and miniscule thing and not the happening .
Chavez Maosoleum – I could not give a crap.
They can blow it up 3 times and as many drug boats they can.
Maybe one can blow up Mount Rushmore to see how much laughter is really left in you.

But Saddam and Noriega is no answer as both used to be best buddies of the USA while Maduro never was a US puppet.
Noriega was actually a CiA creation and only became a problem when he refused to deliver further weapons to the fake-ass US contras.
That’s when the USA told you to hate him – and so you did.

The USA never felt the urge to remove massmurdering Somozas – because, like other dictators, they worked for the US.
Only after they got kicked out (fled to USA, of course, like dictator Marcos did, and even religious CiA leaders= Fatullah Gullen)
the USA got a problem, because independent latin American countries go against US economic = corporate interests = a national security issue.

Saddam ?
Best friend of USA while he was attacking Iran. The USA assisted him to target Iranians with chemical weapons.(the good old day when chemical weapons, especially Iraqs, were kosher – because they told you so)
He got green light from USA to attack Kuwait, after Kuwait started draining Iraqs oil(most probably encouraged by US, as Kuwait has enough oil).
As soon as he attacked Kuwait USA got so furious that they faked the baby incubator incident.(killing babies always works. Remember the 40 beheaded babies in Israel that never existed and Ben Shapiros photoshopped turkey? Now thousands of really killed babies later noone cares, as they don’t belong to the right kind of humans I guess.)
So you started hating Saddam.
You didn’t mind the genocide of a retreating army that did nothing to Americans?= Highway of Death.
Of course not, as you never minded the killing of hundreds of thousands of civilians in Hamburg, Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki(especially as the Japanese emperor already started peace talks) though the enemy was already defeated.
(when there’s no army left you can still genocide civilians- and laugh)

Remember dictator Shah, after Kermit Roosevelt(yeah, the nephew)
and the Mi6 bribed Iranian generals(same method used in Syria and now Venezuela) to get rid of duly elected Mossadeq?
You never hated him because
you were never told to do so, because he shifted the revenue away from Iranian
people towards US&UK oil companies.
Now here is the moment for you to laugh,
because, iirc, you claimed that only 1% of Irans current revenue reaches the Iranian people.
That claim is total BS as the share is now way higher as US&Uk companies no longer parasatize the countries ressources.

But here is something you can really laugh about,
because I’m gonna tell you the real reason you were told to laugh today.

” Why this region matters?
With all of its rich ressources and rare earth elements.
With the Lithium triangle that is needed for the technologies today.
With Venezuelas Oil and Gold.
We have a lot of work to do – this region matters.
It has a lot to do with national security(other countries ressources always have to do with national security = Wall Street)
We need to step up OUR? game.”

4 Star General Laura Richardson

You guys have dropped bombs on Iran while you pretended to negotiate with them.
You attacked Putins residence while negotiating peace plans in Mar a Lago.
Yes- Bad Luck that the NYT just revealed the article in the worst possible moment about CiA’s leading role in terrori… asymmetric warfare against Russia by attacking their refineries, tankers etc.(but there is always a Ukrainian present to push the final button)

Now countries with such a low level of character and integrity will create people with the same standards – and those will? laugh.

Remember the movie Walker,
when suddenly all hell breaks lose in a Latino country,
explosions everywhere and a soldier jumps out of the bush and shouts
” We are here to bring freedom and democracy !”
and the Latino dude says ” Ah, you must be American”

” You all might think that there will be a day when America will leave Nicaragua/Venezuela/Panama/Chile/ Bolivia alone, but I am here to tell you, flat out, that that day will never happen.because it is our destiny to be here.
It is our destiny to control you people.
So no matter how much you fight, we’ll be back, time and time again. ”
William Walker

” I cannot help noticing Sir, during the time I’ve spent with you, that you’ve betrayed every principle you’ve had and all the men who supported you”
Colonel MacGregor to Donald Tr… just kidding, Doubleday to Walker

Why I wasted 20 minutes with this?
There is still hope that guys like you start to use their critical thinking skills not only when they are being personnally effected.

The Lamarckian pre-Darwinian theory was that giraffes lengthened their necks from generation to generation by stretching to reach the higher leaves, and the longer necks from stretching were inheritable. The Darwinian revision was that naturally taller giraffes had more success reaching the higher leaves and bred more descendants.

To the layman, whether those born with longer necks could eat higher leaves, or whether those who stretched their necks bred longer-necked children, is a distinction without a difference. But in science, it was a breakthrough, and those long necks were one of the premier scientific mysteries at the time. Lions, tigers, cheetahs, leopards, panthers — all just varieties of cat, similar to birds, dogs, ruminants, bugs, trees, crops, flowers, you name it. Giraffes, pardon the expression, stood out as unique and science had no real answer as to why. Lamarck proposed a decent answer. Darwin proposed a better answer. But neither explained any mechanism, and I’ve always been surprised that Darwin won out before genetics was understood.

Mendel’s studies on plant inheritance showed that traits of the parent would be inherited by offspring.
That inheritance occurred was understood well before how it occurred.

Mendel reported his results in 1865, and everyone ignored them until 1900.

That’s 40 years of not understanding inheritance.

Giraffes use their long necks to reach high leaves. That is a fact.

However the necks may have evolved in order to reach higher leaves, or they may have evolved for a different reason, but were found to be useful for reaching high leaves as well.

Reply to  MarkW

The Acacia and the Giraffe evolved together. Young trees have very long vicious thorns some inches long but higher up they become smaller and smaller. The longer the neck the more food you get and the more long-necked offspring are produced.

No – that’s why they renamed it into climate change.

The specific term warming used to exclude 50% of anomalies out of the equation and deniers used them as counterarguments.
+ even the simple plebs are able to see the contradiction when you try to sell them freezingl events with warming.
But climate change monopolizes the argument in their favor as climate change means – whatever you want.
Climate change is the end of snow and more snow.
A decrease in Albedo can lead to warming – or not and more and less hurricanes.

To control the narrative the control of words and meaning are important within the hierarchy and structure of propaganda.
MRNA > No Antibodies > No vaccine? Wait a second – it’s a vaccine now.
Ivermectin > essential WHO medicine > top drug for 30 years > West Nile Virus stopper –

Every single climate model prediction is caused by climate change, because the models have no other driver. There are a lot of parameters that can tune a climate model to any desired outcome – typically to match an observation or an external prediction. Therefore every observation and every external prediction can be simulated by a climate model and be presented as being caused by climate change. If some people predict a warm winter and others predict a cold winter, two model runs with different parameters can match the two predictions, and both will be caused by climate change.

They went the Sigmund Freud way – where everything was result of sex.
The problem with his theory is that there is literally no culture, no matter race, religion era or location that backs his theory up, as sex only makes up a small- very small amount of any culture and history while it should be overwhelmingly dominant everywhere if his assumptions were true.

Same with the climate change – it can not be detected by analysing food production levels, increase in hurricanes, sea levels whatever and the current co2 concentration of 430ppm is pretty much irrellevant during the 600 mio years of complex life where co2 concentration varied between 200 and 7500 ppm,
yet a change of 1.3% is now somehow the world end catalyst.

It’s just the simple” We have created the co2- Hammer and everything we dislike is nails”.

This latest effort at the purely counterintuitive – you have to suspend your disbelief – looks even more ridiculous than the last time they floated this ‘theory’. They may have the media on side, but it hasn’t changed the overall direction of scientific travel towards the sceptical viewpoint. A couple of years ago I was looking at heliocentric analogues for this winter. For northwest Europe, December should have been mild to around the 24th. The January cold should continue into February, intensified by an easterly QBO phase, but occasionally briefly broken by Atlantic storms pushing in. The middle third of Feb should be milder, and then back to cold again into early March.

Several years ago, I read a supposed scientific study where they were claiming that CO2 was changing the polar vortex. On the face of it, that is a hard slope to climb, since CO2 is roughly uniformly distributed throughout the globe. Anyway, at the end, they said they could not figure out how the CO2 molecule affected the velocity vectors to alter the vortex. I didn’t know if the paper was real, or a high level joke in scientific circles.
