“… We obviously want China and all countries indeed to move away from fossil fuels …”
Ed Miliband vows to engage with China on climate after Tory ‘negligence’
Energy security and net zero secretary travels to Beijing for countries’ first formal climate meetings since 2017
…
Miliband stressed that “the world is way off track from where we need to be” before the Cop30 UN climate summit in Brazil in November. He said that in his first eight months as secretary of state, he had visited Brazil, India and China, showing that “Britain is back as a climate leader” on the world stage. The UK is hoping to shape a new global axis in favour of climate action along with China and developing countries, to counter Donald Trump’s abandonment of green policies in the US.
…Miliband said: “The issue of forced labour is absolutely something I’ve raised and it is a concern in the UK … I raised it with my Chinese hosts.” He said China “will continue to play a really important role in solar production”.
…… Beijing remains committed to coal, and recently pledged “increase coal production and supply capacity” to ensure energy security.
“We obviously want China and all countries indeed to move away from fossil fuels,” Miliband said. He said that he believed …

I’m confused. If China is not doing anything substantial to reduce emissions, and even the Guardian admits China is openly committed to building more coal, what did the mission actually achieve?
Ahh, they gonna control the weather through fiat are they? Now, where’s that magic wand?…
SHOCKER! The CCP is a total liar….a criminal organization.

[Insert politspeak word salad here. See Kamala Harris for tips]
It is hard to believe how the politicians fail to understand how useless, how extremely expensive and how infeasible net zero is. Can’t fix stupid comes to mind!
I can’t decide whether Miliband is terminally stupid or downright evil. It’s one or the other or maybe both.
China’s main interest in net zero was in developing, manufacturing and selling the tech required to the West in order for it to self immolate
That’s all. Assisted dying. Unfortunately, they’ve bet on the wrong horse
The UK’s Net Zero law supported by Mr. Miliband and all the UK Parliamentary parties bar one isn’t simply destroying the UK’s energy security it is also destroying the UK’s national security:
How can it be safe to deindustrialise so the UK cannot make steel and munitions and hence military equipment?
How can it be safe to transition to expensive, chaotically intermittent and unreliable renewables and put all the UK’s energy eggs into one energy basket, electrification, when there is no plan or even an economic method to store grid-scale electricity ?
How can it be safe to electrify everything and make the UK grid the biggest hacking target in the world? Or in danger of a Carrington event?
How can it be safe for China, a state described by the UK’s security services as “hostile”, to supply the UK with all their energy infrastructure – wind turbines, solar panels, the metals and minerals for motors, generators, batteries and cabling?
How can it be safe for the UK’s energy infrastructure to be spread out over half the North Sea? How will the UK’s depleted armed services protect all the wind turbines and undersea cables from air and submarine drones? Or all the vast expanses of unguarded solar panels? No undersea cable or pipe is safe today, as seen with Nord Stream 2 and the recent attacks on Baltic Sea internet cabling.
How can it be safe to electrify the UK’s armed services – aircraft, ships, tanks ? How will they be re-charged on the battlefield or at sea? Or in the air? Against a hydrocarbon fuelled aggressor it would be like guns v bows and arrows.
“Britain is back as a climate leader”
Strange aspiration for a modern wealthy nation. Being a “climate leader” is like being a crossing guard for a buffalo stampede. Miliband might as well claim to give marching orders to the sun and the moon, but perhaps this gives insights into the inner workings of his mind – insights that, at an earlier time, would have warranted strong efforts to keep this individual far away from any critical decisions on government policy.
I am sure that Red China realizes the there is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect on our global climate system and that the AGW hypothesis has been falsified by science. However Red China mekes a lot of money assisting others to waste their money trying to fight climate change.
