On November 12, 2024 — a week after the election — I had a post titled “Ideas For An Incoming Trump Administration: Climate And Energy Edition.” The first subject covered in that post was “Communications.” I stated there:
[C]hanging the communications of the prior administration should be an easy and obvious first priority. However, the Trump people notably did a poor job on this subject the first time out. The subject of climate and energy is pervasive through the websites of dozens of federal agencies.
I had followed the EPA website in particular during the first Trump term, and it had been little changed even a year after Trump took office.
This time around, Trump and his people are doing a far better job of hitting the ground running on many issues. That is notably true in the area of climate and energy communications: a week in, there are already some meaningful changes at the websites of various agencies. However, changing communications on these issues is not a small task; the government websites during the Biden era had pervasive climate propaganda in thousands of locations.
So, a week into the new administration, here are some of the things that have either changed or not so far.
Department of Energy
My November post noted that there was a big section, dominating the Department’s website, titled “Combating the Climate Crisis.” Today, if you go to the Department’s opening web page, it’s quite different. The front page headline is “Restoring Energy Dominance,” followed by “President Trump’s Day One Actions will Return the Department to Regular Order.” Here’s how it starts:
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), effective today, is ending the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) pause and returning to regular order following direction given by President Donald J. Trump to “unleash American Energy Dominance.”
Another big front-page topic back in November was “Energy Justice.” Today, if you go to the link that I had then for “Energy Justice,” you will be taken back to the opening page with the headline “Restoring Energy Dominance.” The whole “Energy Justice” thing seems to have disappeared. That’s great progress. On the other hand, if you go to the old November link for “Combatting the Climate Crisis,” you will find that a page full of the old Biden-era claptrap is still up:
There is no greater challenge facing our nation and our planet than the climate crisis. That’s why President Biden has laid out the boldest climate agenda in our nation’s history—one that will spur an equitable clean energy economy and cement America on a path to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. . . .
To their credit, the old links to this stuff on the introductory page are gone, and using the site’s search function doesn’t turn this up. Likely, it will be memory-holed shortly.
And yet there is still plenty of junk stuff up on this website that needs to go. As a few examples:
- A section on “Decarbonization” (“The shift to a low-carbon economy will be one of the most significant economic transformations in history. Through the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) decarbonization initiatives, the United States is poised to capture the economic and other benefits of revolutionary decarbonization technologies.”)
- A section on “Carbon Management” (“Carbon management encompasses a suite of technologies used to capture, transport, convert, and store carbon dioxide, as well as remove it directly from the atmosphere.”)
- A section on the “Floating Offshore Wind Shot” (“The Floating Offshore Wind Energy Shot™ seeks to reduce the cost of floating offshore wind energy by more than 70% by 2035 for deep water sites far from shore.”)
- A section on the “Net Zero Economy” (“A net-zero economy averts or removes as much greenhouse gas as it produces. Achieving this balance by 2050 is a pivotal undertaking for the United States”)
And there are many more such. So there is a long way to go. However, they have made a reasonable start. Given that it has only been a week, I would rate the effort an A-.
EPA
In my November post, I noted that there was a huge Climate Change section of the website that dominated from the opening page. Today, references to the subject on the opening page are gone. If you look under the tab “Environmental Topics” on the opening page, you will not find “climate change,” and if you try the closest topic on that tab, “Air,” you will not find “climate change” there either. They certainly are not making this easy!
However, if you type the words “climate change” into the search function of the site, the first link that comes up is www.epa.gov/climate-change, which is the exact same address I had back in November. It will take you to the old Climate Change section of the website that appears to be changed little if at all. It’s buried, but still very much still there. And it contains plenty of the same old nonsense. Examples:
- They continue to pretend that CO2 in the atmosphere has something to do with “human health”: Understanding and addressing climate change is critical to EPA’s mission of protecting human health and the environment.
- There are sections on things like “Causes” and “Impacts” of climate change that pretend that this is a huge human-caused problem.
- Endless pages on climate change “indicators” pretend to link all the usual extreme weather events, hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, floods, etc., etc., to human use of fossil fuels. (“Rising global average temperature is associated with widespread changes in weather patterns. Scientific studies indicate that extreme weather events such as heat waves and large storms are likely to become more frequent or more intense with human-induced climate change.”)
There are vast amounts of stuff here that need to go sooner rather than later. Yes, it has only been a week. Still, I rate the effort a B.
NOAA/NASA
These are the people who keep track of the weather and climate data, and are famous for scare-mongering with endless press releases and hype about “warmest day/month/year ever.” My November 2024 post had this link to a typical NOAA release from January 2024, titled “2023 was the world’s warmest year on record, by far.” That link is still live at the NOAA website.
Overall, it is not clear to me that the NOAA or NASA websites have yet changed much if at all. The “News” tab of the NOAA website has a list of “Latest News Releases” that include several last-minute initiatives of the Biden-Harris administration, including this gem: “Biden-Harris Administration, NOAA invest $15 million to help protect Western U.S. communities from wildfire.”
Go to the NASA website, and down at the bottom of the opening page you will find a link for “Earth & Climate.” At that page you will find a further link for “Climate Change,” that is as full of climate propaganda as any government page I have seen. Small excerpt:
There is unequivocal evidence that Earth is warming at an unprecedented rate. Human activity is the principal cause. . . . While Earth’s climate has changed throughout its history, the current warming is happening at a rate not seen in the past 10,000 years. . . . The current warming trend is different because it is clearly the result of human activities since the mid-1800s, and is proceeding at a rate not seen over many recent millennia.
You get the idea. Somebody needs to start paying attention to this quickly. Yes, it has only been a week. Still, I would give this effort a C at best.
I’ll be watching these pages for periodic updates from time to time. I can’t wait to see a lot of this stuff disappear.
One of the more mischievous things Nixon did was establishing EPA as a separate agency.
The greatest political irony of my lifetime is that Nixon gave the Left everything it ever asked for, yet they still hounded him out of office.
Because he broke the law. What part of “if you break the law you should be held accountable” don’t you guys get? Yes even if you do others favours. See this is now the Trump world of “transactional politics.” So corrupt.
Each president after Nixon (except maybe Ford) committed some clearer violations of law than Nixon himself. I think if he were to come back to life and make the same error in 2027, no one would even care.
Reagan: Iran-Contra
Clinton: Obvious perjury while knowingly on film
I picked the two easiest as examples of my era, but the press attacked Nixon whole heartedly. Nixon Derangement Syndrome? I don’t know. I can only guess he rubbed too many people the wrong way on an interpersonal level.
The left never forgave Nixon for his part in the Rosenberg spying case.
Nixon tried to coopt the Democrats issues on the environment, and annoyed the Republicans for doing so stupidly. Nixon was basically a Rockefeller Republican, a welfare state authoritarian hawk. Instead of making a coalition, Nixon gave everyone a rationale to oppose him.
He also gave us wage and price controls. Not a true Republican.
Nixon also inflicted the War on Drugs and the War on Cancer on us.
It was Nixon, of course THEY/THEM would care…he’s Republican!
The left hated Nixon. It was the Republican party that got Nixon out of office.
When it comes to corruption, Nixon was a piker compared to JFK and LBJ. Just about any Democrat president for that matter.
Reflecting that question back at you:
Why was Biden not held accountable?
For what? The republicans did their best to find a crime and ended up looking utterly silly. Yes his son was a crook but he wasn’t president. I know you will have a sack full of conspiracy stuff, but when it came to proof there was zero.
Hunter was either defrauding his clients, with Daddy’s knowledge, or Hunter was Joe Biden’s bagman.
Proof please or don’t waste my time.
What “services” were Hunter Biden offering Burisma? Given he had no experience in petroleum law? Or the various Chinese companies “investing” with Hunter Biden’s various enterprises?
He was either actually influence peddling, or defrauding all his clients. There was no other reason to pay him the level of compensation he received.
Of course, a good KoolAid drinker like yourself will discount any evidence.
Mr. Simon: There is no greater waste of time than offering evidence to the willfully blind. Won’t waste yours or mine, but I note you evidently have time to waste, posting lefty talking points.
I see that the IRS still intends to pursue the “Suspicious Activity Reports” (SARs) it has created from over 200 broken down & re-distributed bank deposits from foreign entities to linked Biden family bank accounts.
It was the IRS who ultimately brought Al Capone to justice remember.
Funny if the Bidens look like giving the IRS another brag sheet.
Well I’ll believe it when I see it. So much nonsense on this one.
And yet, you seem to believe all the climate change ooga booga models predictions.
What’s up with that?
What’s up with that is there is mountains of evidence that the climate is changing and that CO2 is largely responsible for changing it. The last 10 years have all been in the top 10 since records began. Now you can ignore that if you want… but don’t tell me there is no evidence. NASA has a wonderful detailed breakdown here…. Read it while you can before the Trump dictatorship takes it down.
https://science.nasa.gov/climate-change/
Now your turn. Provide me with evidence that Biden committed any crimes.?
Your ideology is blurring your perceptions of reality matey.
Help is available.
Start here.
So nothing?
Not if you’re not smart enough to learn. Mr. told you to try reading different articles on this site. If you won’t do that, you can’t learn.
You weren’t taught to learn in school. You were indoctrinated and are one of those folks who believe everything authorities tell them. Look at hard data – not the conclusions of career politicians in governments and the IPCC.
No climate isn’t changing it is unchanged in the entire nation of the US.
Go look up Koppen Climate Classification.
Got any more lies to peddle
can’t even get grammar right eh?
“there is mountains of evidence that the climate is changing”
Mountains are plural, and there is no such thing as a mountain of evidence.
“The last 10 years have all been in the top 10”
yep like the 1000 year ago MWP which was warmer than the last freezing cold period..
..emerging from the bitterly cold and famine laden 18th and 19th centuries.
Please name a single region on Earth that has changed its climate classification in the last 80 years. If there is none, then the climate isn’t actually changing. At best, there are some slight temperature shifts in polar areas
You won’t believe it. You’re not that bright. Evidence has no hold over you.
Special Counsel Hur found evidence that Biden willfully retained classified documents. Hur declined to prosecute, saying a conviction was unlikely for several reasons, including that jurors might be sympathetic to a “well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.”
That doesn’t mean he wasn’t guilty. He had more documents years before Trump in more locations than Trump. Biden was a Democrat, so no trial was held.
Biden didn’t retain the docs after being asked to give them back.
Biden didn’t destroy documents. Biden didn’t lie about having the documents. Trump did all those things. But let me guess you are more than happy for Trump to get a free pass on all that?
So Simon, if breaking the law is a legitimate reason for being held accountable and wearing the consequences of your actions, that makes Trump’s deportation of immigration lawbreaking illegal immigrants totally legally legitimate.
Thanks for your pragmatic understanding and support for president Trump’s approach to these immigration law breakers.
If they are in the country illegally and break the law I support moving them out. Why would I not?
If they are in the country illegally, they already broke the law.
Yeah Simon didn’t get it.
Good ole pee pee tape Simon with his version of Stupid
Are you trying to tell us something with your fascination for a pee tape? Is this your little secret?
That is on you moron. You are the one believes in Colluuuusion 😉
Look I’m no psychiatrist, but there are usually reasons people keep accusing others of things they actually find interesting. You know ” he doth protest too much” and all that. Anyway there are other websites for that, but this ain’t one. Good luck getting the help you need. I’ll not feed your dirty mind from this point on. Ariva-Dergy…..
What you are is stupid. Even Kash said Collusion was fake, so until you admit you were duped I will call you out as a liar. That is what you are.
The compilation of all the left groups that make up the Dems, all together, result in an easy stereotype of lying, ignorant, deceitful, in search of power, always wanting more zealots.
You can’t trust, nor expect reasonable negotiation with terrorists, religious zealots, or the leaders of the combined groups that make up the Dems.
Nixon understood this, but thought he was smart enough to work around it.
“The compilation of all the left groups that make up the Dems, all together, result in an easy stereotype of lying, ignorant, deceitful, in search of power, always wanting more zealots.”
The irony of a statement like this, below an article suggesting we should purge the work of scientists, because the message is not what is wanted is beyond outrageous.
Scientists are just people.
“Scientists are just people.”
And?
“we should purge the work of scientists, because the message is not what is wanted”
Your ability to see only what you want to see remains unchallenged.
What do you see here Mark? I see borderline dictatorship. Wipe what you don’t like from the offical documents, so the public don’t know the truth. China does this stuff and everyone complains (as they should).
We need to purge the propaganda of scientists.
Moreso politicians.
Moreso activists.
Except that many, though maybe not all, supposed ‘climate scientists’ fall in to at least the ‘activist’ group. Re: Michael Mann (though I might argue he’s just in it for the money & doesn’t want to lose his cushy position and tarnish his ‘rep’ by telling the truth).
Or consider this recent blog post with a summary of an Abstract to a supposedly ‘scientific’ paper that clearly went over to the ‘activist’ side by including the statement “…underscoring the urgency of deep reductions in fossil-fuel burning.”. This is not science, it is activism/politics. This should never be in a supposed scientific paper about ‘global sea rise’.
And there are far too many examples to list here. Any paper that uses GCM (Global Circulation Models) or really any ‘models’ to ‘predict’ the future calamity should be ditched immediately. Other than attempting to understand the behaviours of the models themselves to inputs and check the human understanding of the science such papers are useless for policy and predictive power. All of such papers and anyone writing such a paper should be immediately thrown in to the dust bin of history. They are propaganda. Heck, here’s yet another just today that uses ‘models’ to predict future deaths from extreme heat & cold. Useless propaganda from the get go, not science.
So no, not politicians & activists, scientists. I picked my words carefully to a commenter who thinks its some how wrong to remove ‘work by scientists’ because we “don’t like the message’. When that ‘message’ is propaganda than yes it needs purging from government websites, the science journals etc.
My comment was in direct reference to the “propaganda of”
Ah, I get it.
And not to belabor the point, but the activists and politicians are supported by an incredibly shaky and inconsistent description of “The Science”…everyone says “follow the science”, when the science and thus the foundation of support for politicians & activists is mostly propaganda, its necessary to get rid of that foundation. E.g. ‘strike at the heart’.
While the monetary and social impact of this hoax bothers me greatly,
as a trained scientist, the impact on science, the view of science and scientists bothers me almost as much. I know scientists are ‘just human’ with human failings but I worked with incredible scientists that followed the facts where ever they led regardless of their personal stake in a theory, hypothesis etc. I fundamentally believe in at least the perspective that scientists should be ‘better than everyone else’, it should be fundamental to their DNA, claiming “I’m only human” is a cop out.
I also believe that investigating earth’s climate is a worthwhile pursuit to try to understand it, even model it to gain knowledge. But climate science as a whole has leapt to an unsupportable conclusion and left all true inquiry behind. I personally don’t have the inclination or time to become a ‘climate scientist’, but there are so many opportunities for young minds to truly investigate and add to the body of knowledge that are being stifled because “the science is settled”. There’s more than enough work out there to support the lifetime efforts of many otherwise good minds and I’m happy to help pay for those efforts, but I won’t pay for lies, untruths, shoddy science. Its abhorrent to everything I was trained in and believe about the role of science in helping improve our understanding of our universe and “the human condition”.
The work of *activists* not “scientists.”
Anyone who with a straight face insists that there is “unequivocal” evidence that current climate change is human induced is NOT a “scientist.”
Lovely you have an opinion… but that is all it is and not one shared by pretty much every scientifically representative national body on the planet. Now I wonder why that is?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_statements_by_major_scientific_organizations_about_climate_change
…..that is. They are dependent on funding from governments and alarmists and that dictates their findings.
Consensus arguments excite fools like you who makes clear you have no idea how good science works.
If you are using Wiki as a source, then you are a lost cause.
Nixon was not a good president. He also initiated price controls and started affirmative action. Nixon’s forte was foreign policy. He was an SOB at a time when most Americans understood we needed an SOB as president.
BTW: Didn’t Nixon also take us off the gold standard?
Nixon didn’t have any core beliefs, other than doing what was necessary to get elected, i.e., a prototypical politician. From EPA to wage/price controls to abandoning the gold standard and so many other initiatives. The National Review examined his career back in 2013 (https://www.nationalreview.com/2013/01/nixon-100-was-he-americas-last-liberal-john-fund/). He gave the Left a lot of what they wanted before they knew they wanted it. His opening to China was pure legacy polishing, with the results we live with today.
Sure he broke the law (Remember “It was the coverup not the break-in”?). I think it pales in comparison to #46 and family’s adventures in lawbreaking via “transactional politics”. I tend to agree that Nixon’s personality contributed to enthusiasm of his pursuers.
Buzzphrase of the year: Malicious compliance.
as long as someone else pays the price
This certainly documents a “Good Start”, but I think there is some alternate information that needs to be added to each website. There need to be prominent, easy to read information on “Cllimate Change Facts”. These would include actual data on the historical records of hurricane frequency and intensity, floods, droughts, wildfires, and temperatures. This should also include proxy data on the entire temperature record of the Holocene showing that the several previous warm periods were warmer than today. It would also be worthwhile to include the fact that we’re living in a short “interglacial” of the several million-year Pleistocene ICE AGE and that it may soon be ending.
It’s easy to think of more that could be added, but more should be included in links, to not deviate from “short and easily readable”. No acronyms or three plus syllable words allowed!
That’s a commendable suggestion Tom. Scrubbing it clean is censorship. Do we want to be accused of that? People need to understand how they’ve been misled. The science is not settled.
Better to openly challenge unscientific propaganda than try to bury it.
One day windmills will be seen as symbols of the damage done by human arrogance, ignorance, and dogma.
This is the stuff they teach kids.
No honest educator could defend it against a true scientific explanation.
https://climatekids.nasa.gov/greenhouse-effect/
“How does the greenhouse effect work?
As you might expect from the name, the greenhouse effect works … like a greenhouse! A greenhouse is a building with glass walls and a glass roof. Greenhouses are used to grow plants, such as tomatoes and tropical flowers.
A greenhouse stays warm inside, even during the winter. In the daytime, sunlight shines into the greenhouse and warms the plants and air inside. At nighttime, it’s colder outside, but the greenhouse stays pretty warm inside. That’s because the glass walls of the greenhouse trap the Sun’s heat”
The question I think is: WTF is NASA doing writing children’s education material that does not involve launching satellites?
It was a full court press to push the dogma- same thing happens here in Wokeachusetts- every state agency pushes the dogma. (most are led by feminists)
More low hanging fruit. Get NASA out of the climate field entirely.
In the north, we add heat to the greenhouse especially when it is COLD 🙂
You could add CO2. I’m told it traps heat!
The CO2 level in greenhouses is increased to ca 1,000 ppmv to keep the plants from starving. There is lots of the main greenhouse gas: H2O. Greenhouse are also called hot houses.
My ex wife wanted a greenhouse and I asked are you going to use it in the winter. She said yes and I told her we need to heat it. She went on to tell me it was a greenhouse. I said dear when it’s -20 it will be -20 in your greenhouse. She looked at me like I was from mars.
Hothouse glass, as a notional figure of merit, has a 5F temperature gradient from internal to external. Yes, it varies by type of glass and thickness.
If the interior is hotter than outside, thermal energy is conducted through the glass and convected away.
If the interior is colder than outside, the thermal energy flow is in the reverse direction.
Modern greenhouses have fans and heaters and the ability to open panels to vent.
Hothouses do not “trap” solar energy. The prevent warm air from dispersing into the larger atmosphere.
In basic engineer terms, a greenhouse is an environmental control system that is not all that different from your living room with HVAC or the cabin of your car or an airplane.
Greenhouses are made of glass because plants need light and sunlight in this application is lower cost and less risky that stringing up large numbers of “grow lights.” Also, glass is warmed when light passes through and that thermal energy convects to upper stratum of air in the greenhouse helping to warm it.
After a long winded post… The point is you are correct and your wife was not.
Funny, I already see them as such.
An excellent review. This is important.
There is no justification for U.S. government attribution of ANY of the reported warming to incremental CO2, CH4, N2O, etc. It all needs to be pulled down. The scientific work of observing, recording, and posting the data for public use must continue with no preconceived agenda in any direction.
Can you bring back MK Ultra and do a number on the UK parliament? All of ‘em.
Empty vessels need filling
The way the Internet was rigged to blame ‘man influenced climate change & global warming’ from the start in order to get the message across to control the narrative now has to be undone and in doing so we could see a lot of unplanned and unintentional problems especially if the problem is over simplified.
As with Covid-19 the blemishes left behind by feeding propaganda to the public will have unintended long term consequences. Perhaps one day politicians will accept full responsibility for their idiocy and learn the lessons of the first quarter of 21C. We will not get away with it so easily if politicians keep listening to and following propaganda as they have been doing since around 2018. The full damage may see bankruptcies on a very large scale..
Perhaps one day politicians will accept full responsibility
Not even the Post Office is accountable – really. No money has been forthcoming and it won’t be.
The Blair defence:
I did it in good faith
I did it because I believed it was the right thing to do
And most importantly:
I cannot apologise.
The UN convinced Google to modify their search results to promote UN concurring pages to the top.
I did a google search on keyword “climate.” 17 pages into it I found 1 page that discussed the science. WUWT did not show up in the first 20 pages of links, nor did anything resembling skepticism or valid science. Google is pushing UN propaganda.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but “Perhaps one day politicians will accept full responsibility…” will never happen. No politician has ever done this in the history of humans (Ok, maybe there was 1 somewhere at some time).
The best we can do is strike while the iron is hot & reverse the propaganda. We can start by ditching the whole ‘Green House Effect’ mantra. Its not science at all. The general populace isn’t entirely stupid, its not hard to explain the ‘Infrared Absorption effect’, people understand ‘heat’, they have heard of ‘photons’ for the most part since the Einstein et.al. days.
Then we can point out that H20, good old water is by far the greatest player in the IA effect, swamping all other atmospheric constituents. For H20 this isn’t a game of equals, its an absolute beat down. And that’s just 1 area that H20 absolutely dominates, then you have clouds and ice that play an outsized role in reflection (introduce the concept of albedo).
And while its hard to make a complete ‘testable climate theory’ based on H20 (the climate is far too complex to point at only 1 element), at least off the top of my head, it is very likely the uniqueness of the triple-point energy (temperature) of water @ur momisugly earth’s standard temperature & pressure that makes H20 the actual ‘climate control knob’. Though its so unlikely that we’d ever be able to ‘control’ this knob the best we can ever hope for is to competently and accurately monitor and faithfully potentially ‘predict’ when the climate has changed to pushing the earth in to the next ice age. And do everything we can to give future humans the reliable and sustainable energy sources (nuclear is really the only one) to beat back the ice. It will be on-going and relentless for potentially thousands of years. The planet will be bleak and mostly barren other than those areas we’ve domed or otherwise protected and dare I say it ‘Terra-formed’. There is likely nothing we can do to stop it only mitigate it, if we don’t, either cold or our own stupidity will be the death knell for humans.
The odd thing about the NASA/NOAA websites is that they push the CAGW agenda but at the same time provide data and tools that help to prove that it’s mostly bunkum, if you have a few hours to spare investigating. For example:
and probably a whole lot more still to be discovered. Weird isn’t it?
The ratio was actually UWIR / ASR. As I posted in the comments the increase was +0.002 ± 0.007 which is not inconsistent with Willis’ expectation.
+0.002 +-0.007 is tantamount to 0.000.
Kindly stop taking the p1ss.
Not exactly. +0.002 ± 0.007 is tantamount to unknown.
Or 0.009 or -0.005 or anything in between.
I suspect if Willis removed the ENSO influence the trend line would be almost exactly zero with just a slight increase after Hunga Tonga. Turns out there was a slight increase in the greenhouse effect due to water vapor.
Almost as if they were hoping to be caught
I was thinking more along the lines of subtle subversion of the prevailing ideology by those who retain intellectual honesty, coupled with the fact that it will count in their favour when the jig is up.
The findings of Miskolczi 2010 are consistent with WE’s result. That means there’s been no greenhouse warming for at least 77 years.
Perhaps some of the “Climate Change” info should be renamed “Our Ever Changing Climate” and be repopulated with benefits that mildly increased CO2 have brought like…
Longer Growing Seasons
Greater Crop Production
Oasification of desert terrain
Biosphere Greening
Drought resilience
…etc
“… of dozens of federal agencies.”
Why do _dozens_ of federal agencies exist? I hope that the Trump admin follow through on reviewing and ending several departments, starting with Do(Energy, “Education”, Commerce).
Freezing/stopping funding for the NGOs that bypass federal immigration law and enable illegal aliens to enter the US is a start.
And for those dozens of agencies’ web sites, “climate communication” might be better identified as climate propaganda.
Beyond duplicating other federal agencies, many federal agencies duplicate state agencies.
There are many federal agencies that need to go. Perhaps most of them.
Yes, it is. And take down the climate propaganda placards from the national parks and monuments.
Is a national monument technically propaganda?
I want the old placards about the glaciers put back up at Glacier National Park!
“They are now rapidly shrinking due to human-caused climate change. Computer models indicate the glaciers will be all gone by the year 2020.”
Then install a new placard regarding the scientific method that reads:
“These cards are an example of a testable scientific hypothesis: The current computer models are capable of making accurate predictions about the future climate.
The glaciers did NOT all melt by 2020, therefore the hypothesis regarding the computer model predictions has been falsified.”
Excellent suggestion!
Need another placard with a picture of Rosanna Danna Danna (aka Gilda Radner) with the quote “Never Mind”.
Humor – a difficult concept.
— Lt. Saavik
I checked out the USDA site and looked for climate stuff and couldn’t find much. I think it’s already been cleaned up- it was a quick search so I might have missed something.
I suspect that the burro-crats of all fed agencies will soon be singing a new tune. They love their jobs. Those that don’t sing a new tune should look for a new pasture. 🙂
NASA is not the NOAA or the NWS. Hopefully, DOGE will identify the mission creep in those agencies and correct it.
Googling NASA mission statement:
“NASA’s mission statement is to advance science and technology in space and aeronautics to improve knowledge, education, and economic vitality.”
I’d like to lop off “to improve knowledge, education, and economic vitality.”
I like aerospace engineering, but I don’t invite aerospace engineers to a meeting to improve economic vitality.
How would one “improve knowledge” anyway? I guess they release corrected knowledge, then shred away all copies of the original.
Alternative Themes
for Trump Climate Websites:
(1) CO2 is dangerous
and scary predictions
Attracts Democrats
(2) Climate Change is a Scam
Attracts MAGA Republicans
(3) CO2 is a mild greenhouse gas that causes a small, harmless amount of global warming, with no predictions:
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
(4) CO2 is a life giving gas without which no life on earth would be possible.
CO2 is a symbiotic Gas produced by all life for the direct benefit of plant life which then thanks us by returning the O2 portion for our use
You are correct. No news is bad news. Good news is bad news. Bad news sells.
By all means, every department, agency, commission, etc., in the executive branch needs to get out of the climate change messaging business and back to its core duties.
Remember, we need legislation passed into law to keep our government focused on its mission.
The picture is a classroom.
I have read reports of some of the climate curricula being taught.
Wat I read is quite flawed and very disturbing. Aside from getting the basic science wrong, the course ends with the question, “Now what can you do to reduce CO2?”
The course teaches kids the CO2 kills shell fish by making the ocean dangerously acidic.
Very nice Francis.
I see a great opportunity here. It is good to see some of the CAGW claptrap removed from government sites but I would handle it different.
I would require all government agencies to produce all CAGW information on their websites, publications, memos all communications, rules or requirements. They have 30 days to comply. Any department not providing all of what we have asked for will be punished, all individuals responsible for providing the information will be fired.
Once we have the information that they have provided we will require them to produce the scientific and legal justifications for what is included. They have 60 days to comply. After review by qualified persons who follow the scientific method and are not activist legal practitioners the agencies must remove all material not supported by science and or by law.
This way we aren’t removing the material in question rather the agencies are removing their own material that can’t be supported by science or law.
Pandora’s box.
The lawyers will have a feeding frenzy.
It’s just over a week so at best this can be characterized only as ‘a start’, maybe a B- overall.
With that said its not good enough to purge the propaganda, the Trump administration needs a ‘whole of government effort to bring sanity back to the discussion’.
Trump can & should direct the EPA and NOAA to post the actual known facts as follows:
1) There is no Green House Effect, earth’s atmosphere does not act like a Green House. The use of this term is extremely poor and does not reflect at all how the atmosphere works in helping to store and release the Sun’s energy. One behavior of the atmosphere is simply to absorb Infrared Radiation and emit it. This is one of multiple ways the earth system stores the energy from the Sun and making it available for life to thrive. This effect is properly termed the ‘IA effect’ (Infrared Absorption effect) or ‘IAE effect’ (Infrared Absorption and Emission effect).
2) Water (H20) is by far the primary constituent of the atmosphere that plays a role in the IA effect. Estimates are that it is responsible for 60% to 90% of the IA effect.
3) Water (H20) in the atmosphere in the form of clouds also plays a major role in the energy available from the Sun to be absorbed. Water in the form of clouds plays a significant role in reflecting the incoming Solar radiation such that it is unavailable to be absorbed in the earth system. Estimates are that it is 20% of earths ‘albedo’ (a measure of how reflective the earth as a whole is to incoming Solar radiation).
4) Estimates of average world wide cloud cover are known to at best +/- 10%.
5) Estimates of the maximum increase in the IA effect due to an increase in CO2 in earth’s atmosphere from 320 to 400ppm is about 3%.
6) Due to error estimates of average world wide cloud coverage alone there is no way to measure the potential IA effect attributable to increased CO2 with existing technology or even to know if it plays a significant role in the storage of energy in the earth system due to other confounding factors.
7) CO2 is one of the ‘gases/chemicals of life’, without it there would be no life on earth.
8) Plants grow significantly better in higher CO2 concentrations. Evidence from the Paleoclimate record demonstrate that dinosaurs and the plant life they relied on for the food chain were much more prolific in size and extent than today and they lived on an earth with much higher temperatures and CO2 concentrations than typically measurable today.
Trump and his administration need to put a dagger in the heart of the worst hoax perpetrated on the human population EVER. They can start by posting unassailable facts, only a handful of which I’ve listed above.
I recall viewing graphics a few years back that clearly showed IR bouncing off clouds of CO2.
Yes, the propaganda on this is ludicrous.
Just see almost any story (*) where a power plant is shown with clouds of steam coming out and the story is about how ‘CO2 is killing the planet’. Pure propaganda and ludicrous given CO2 on earth is transparent to visible light.
(*) I refuse to call them ‘news articles’, they aren’t news at all, just a fictional story.
EPA still prioritizes a new heatwave index covering just 50 cities since 1960 over the original index covering the whole continental US going back to 1895, downplaying the rapid increase and peak in the 1930’s. The new index allows them to use UHI to fear monger us to believe heat waves are getting worst due to “climate crisis”. This helps to support the IPCC who list increase in heatwaves as attributable to anthropogenic climate change with studies that start in 1960’s or 1970’s.
Technically speaking, the UHI is anthropogenic and does affect local temperatures.
As urban areas build up, the UHI increases and as such, the local climates change.
Just a nit.
I hope that someone is getting all this stuff onto the Wayback Machine before Donald Trump’s administration replaces it. Otherwise, in years to come, I suspect that no-one will believe that the US government ever promoted it.
One has to wonder if they fall under government retention rules. If they do, they should be put in the National Archives.
