While the political tide has shifted right in the United States – and away from the climate alarmist agenda – our neighbors to the north are still currently all-in for the economically ruinous and scientifically unnecessary Net Zero agenda. But climate realists in the Great White North are pushing back, and a new book released in conjunction with The Heartland Institute will serve as an important weapon in the scientific and public relations arsenal.
On Episode #135 of The Climate Realism Show, we welcome the co-authors of Energy & Climate at a Glance: Canadian Edition, which outlines why the climate plans of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s climate plans will cause economic hardship in Canada and will do nothing measurable to improve the global climate. Heartland’s Anthony Watts, H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely will also cover some of the Crazy Climate News of the week and take your questions in the chat. Join us LIVE at 1 p.m. ET this Friday and every Friday.
This show will be archived in WUWT Climate TV, a collection of over six hundred videos, featuring new interviews and analysis, and covering dozens of media sources discussing, debating and analyzing the latest in climate science, climate politics, and energy policy, including topics concerning temperature, sea level, polar bears, ocean acidification, extreme weather, censorship, wild fires, and more.

Canada is around 2% of global CO2 emissions. Even if you believe in the CAGW fairy tale, Canada could disappear and the resulting change in CO2 levels and temperatures would not be measurable. We are governed by abject morons.
That follows the idea of do not attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity.
According to current election polling and other statistical data, 338 Canada projects the Conservatives to win an outright majority in the 2025 elections. So maybe Canadians aren’t so wed to warmunism. Trudeau, the leader of the Liberal Party is particularly unpopular, with only 26% approval as an aggregate of the major polls.
The biggest issues for voters in Canada according to the polls per http://www.politicalpulse.net are:
growing disillusionment is driven by concerns over the rising cost of livingincreasing government debt, andCanada’s declining international influenceOverall, 67% of Canadians disapprove of Trudeau’s performance, signaling frustration after nearly eight years in office.
None of that sounds conducive to economy killing green warmunist measures. Indeed, Canadian voters seem to be of the same mind as American voters.
It’s not just Trump, for those who blame him for all the ills in life, including being a Nazi or Hitler, or whatever. It’s the People who are pissed off that liberal governments keep screwing us all.
As I’ve said many times in this and other forums Trudeau is the epitome of the term cockwomble, With any luck we’ll be shut of him very soon. However, the civil service will remain and so many of the programmes will slide along. The Canadian civil service is like the RCN’s old 3″70 gun, it won’t work and you can’t fire it.
Canadian, here.
Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives are effectively warmunists. Poilievre subtly pretends that he’s offering an alternative to climate hysteria, but his policies are more or less compliant with green buffoonery just as they are with all manner of woke nonsense. He doesn’t push the bounds of the progressive Overton window very far on much of anything.
Poilievre’s #1 slogan right now is “Axe the Tax” re: the carbon tax. But don’t be fooled. He plans to waste new billions on carbon capture & storage and other boondoggles instead of directly taxing CO2. It’s a bait and switch to win an election.
Somewhere around half of Conservative voters are squishy like Pierre. Around 40% of the electorate are expected to vote Conservative in the next election, and the rest are further to the left. So, around 80% of Canadians have given themselves over to the green blob. Climate may not one of the most important issues to voters, but only ~20% of Canadians actively disagree with warmunist measures.
Summed up in two political cartoons, about Guilbeault and Trudeau.
Cartoon number 2.
The lame-duck Liberal government in Canada is desperately trying to put a brave face on its climate policies while slyly ignoring the fact that the country’s emissions have kept on rising despite carbon taxes, subsidies, and mandates for green initiatives. What it also keeps downplaying is the fact that Canadians, like the populations of other countries, don’t consider climate change any big threat and certainly don’t relish higher living costs and more laws and restrictions to fight the phenomenon. That’s one of the main reasons that the Conservative Party holds a wide margin in voter polls (42% to 23%) regarding their intentions in the next election. The sooner that election occurs the better so that Canadians won’t continue to be saddled with supporting this climate change con-job.
