Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas Blames Climate Change for US Border Failure

Essay by Eric Worrall

Republicans have moved to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, as Mayorkas blames climate change and rising authoritarianism for his failure to deliver on illegal migration.

Republicans begin process to IMPEACH Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for border crisis as he blames an immigration system broken for 30 years and climate change on surge in migration

By KELLY LACO, EXECUTIVE EDITOR OF POLITICS FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

PUBLISHED: 02:22 AEDT, 4 January 2024 | UPDATED: 06:19 AEDT, 4 January 2024

Republicans are taking the first steps to formally impeach Department of Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas for his handling of the ongoing southern border crisis.

DailyMail.com confirmed that the first impeachment hearing into Mayorkas will be held by the House Homeland Security Committee next week on January 10.

It comes after officials revealed over 302,000 people crossed the border illegally in December.

The secretary told MSNBC this morning that he would ‘most certainly’ comply with the committee’s impeachment investigation.

But he said he’s currently focused on finding ‘solution to problems,’ including by working with senators to come to a bipartisan solution on border security measures.

In addition, Mayorkas blamed the ongoing crisis on a 30-year broken immigration system – and also climate change.

He told MSNBC that the challenge of ‘displaced people,’ not only in the U.S., but around the world is due to the ‘effects of climate change, poverty, increasing level of authoritarianism.’

Mayorkas also blamed Texas Governor Greg Abbott for not coordinating with other governors, presumably because Abbott refused to keep all the illegals in Texas, and started shipping them to Democrat run “Sanctuary Cities”. But I find this attack on Abbott bit puzzling, given Mayorkas claims global warming was partly responsible for driving the illegals from their homes. Surely Abbott was just looking out for the climate welfare of the illegals, by shipping them away from the scorching hot Texas climate to cooler Northern sanctuary cities like New York and Chicago. I mean we wouldn’t want the illegals to be forced to relocate again, when accelerated climate change makes Texas uninhabitable.

Do I need a /sarc tag?

Surprisingly, Mayorkas forgot to name Trump in his list of people he blames for the failure of the Biden administration to deter illegal immigration, but I’m sure that oversight will be corrected during the impeachment hearing.

Mayorkas isn’t alone in blaming climate change for his failures, Biden has been blaming climate change for years.

The developing tradition of left wing officials blaming climate change for their failure to deliver would be entertaining, if the failures weren’t so consequential. A few days ago Australia’s emergency minister blamed “climate change” for messing up weather predictions, leading to disastrously late flood warnings for Australians affected by December’s wild weather.

Despite this US and Australian climate posturing absurdity, my all time favourite climate change deflection attempt still goes to Egypt. In 2015, the Mayor of Alexandria blamed climate change for causing the river Nile to flood. Critics pointed out a lot of the problems were caused by drainage issues, and that some of the Alexandria drain maintenance money seemed to have been misappropriated on the mayor’s watch. And I’m pretty sure there is also evidence the River Nile might have flooded at least once or twice before the age of climate alarmism.

No, according to US Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz speaking in March 2023 – that’s 8 months before the December issue and, apparently, nothing was done in that time to correct the proble.

The concept is not hard to grasp, it’s just that Biden is encouraging unauthorized people to come across our border despite the laws against it. Joe Biden is a lawless president. If it’s a choice between political ideology and the law, political ideology wins in Biden’s head. And the American people lose.

YES!
Our immigration laws are not “broken”, they just are not being enforced.
The Biden/Mayorkas “fix” for our immigration laws is to add a massive amnesty program for those that have crossed.

In my opinion, Biden and Mayorkas have different end goals; I think Mayorkas is a true globalist who naively believes everyone on the globe should share the benefits of US prosperity.
Joe wants votes.

The Nile hasn’t flooded since Pharaoh Nasser built the Aswan dam, so that’s out for the Alexandrian mayor. The Egyptian climate hasn’t changed since Jim Steele moved the ITC zone and dried up the Saharan savanna. That kinda leaves drainage negligence. Biden should send one of his experts on negligence to advise them how to properly pass the buck Egyptian pound.

IMO this move by the House is a political mistake. The Dem House twice impeached Trump over nothing—political theater. The Repubs should NOT return the favor against Mayorkas or Biden. It diminishes Congress and looks like petty tit for tat.

Mayorkas is merely implementing Biden’s foolish immigration policy. That is not remotely an impeachable offense. It IS a big Biden re-election problem.

Biden was obviously corrupt during his VP years (Burisma investigator removal that he foolishly bragged about on camera at CFR meeting). But not (yet) as President. The whole history of constitutional impeachment is for acts while in office. The House investigation led by Comer has come up with nothing impeachable during Biden’s presidency. It should be stopped.

If anyone should be impeached, it is Merrick Garland, Attorney General, for improperly appointing Jack Smith as a Special Prosecutor to pursue Lawfare against Trump. Today’s filing of a contempt of court request against Smith in his J6 case stayed by Chutkin while on appeal over the presidential immunity question is sufficient evidence of Lawfare. Yesterday the Appeals court issued an order that the parties should be prepared to argue the improper appointment amicus brief in the orals set for next week. That is a positive in this whole mess.

The tit-for-tat goes back to when the Republicans impeached Clinton- then the Dems returned it by impeaching Trump. Probably a good time to stop impeaching presidents for such things- but impeaching Mayorkas is different- it wouldn’t be “over nothing”. I’ve watched him get slammed in Congressional hearings. ‘high crimes and other misdemeanors’

Can mean anything the Congress wants it to mean. Witness Trump’s impeachment. They had nothing on him, but they impeached him twice anyway.

The U.S. Senate did not remove Trump from office, because they had nothing on him.

The Democrats did not impeach Trump as retaliation for Clinton’s impeachement. They impeached Trump to try to get rid of him and his anti-socialist policies.

Of course, the Democrats will say any impeachment of Mayorkas or Biden is just petty revenge. It’s what they do: LIE.

If you don’t think Mayorkas or Biden deserve being impeached over the border situation, then you haven’t been paying attention.

Your do nothing recommendation is for wimps and losers (aka Republicans).

This impeachment for ignoring laws is necessary to slow the decent into fascism.

Joe Bribe’em’s cancellation of student loan debt is also an impeachable offense

The Hunter Bribe’em grifting with 10% to The Big Guy is a more complicated impeachable offense.

I agree. Maybe the Republicans will develop a backbone this time around.

I think the Republicans should shut down the governent if Biden doesn’t agree to shut down the flow of illegal immigration coming into the United States. We should be putting enough American troops on the border to stop this flow completely, and do it immediately.

The situation is serious enough to shut down the government. We can’t stand another year of 300,000 illegals coming across every month. Something drastic has to be done as soon as possible.

Impeachments and government shutdowns will focus the minds of the American people on the problem: Joe Biden and his insane attempt to import millions of illegal immigrants into the United Staes. And for what purpose, you might ask? A purpose that is not good for the American people.

It’s time to play Hard Ball with the radical Democrats. They have been playing Hard Ball with the Republicans for years. It’s time to turn it back on them. They are the problem. It’s time to highlight it.

I disagree. Biden is blatantly ignoring the immigration laws and should be held accountable for his failure to protect the American people.

I do think impeaching Mayorkas is a distraction, since Mayorkas is just following Biden’s orders. Biden is the one who should be held accountable for his failure to enforce U.S. border laws.

Claiming the immigration laws have been broken for 30 years is a dodge by the Democrats. Trump was in office less than 30 years ago and had the U.S. border under control, and would have had even better control had he had a new term.

This “immigrating law is broken” is just a ploy on the part of Democrats to blame all problems on Republicans. It’s standard operating procedure for Democrats. It’s always someone else’s fault, when Democrat failures come to light..

I refuse to buy that excuse.
At the risk of trivializing their crimes, this was the defense of the accused in the Nuremburg trials.

In this instance, all Mayorkas needed to do was resign if given unconstitutional orders.
Not doing so makes him complicit.

Reply to  Rud Istvan

Biden’s immigration policy is criminal on its face. It directly and obviously violates Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution, as well as Section 1 of the 14 Amendment. Not to say every law governing border control.

As I see it, Texas Gov. Abbott is in his rights to declare the the Biden Administration as rogue. He can declare Mayorkas and Biden as personna non-grata in Texas and issue warrants for their arrest should they enter his jurisdiction.

The Border Patrol is following illegal orders. They should defy those orders and honor their oath to uphold the Constitution. This means turning back all illegal entrants. Should the Border Patrol agents continue failing their oath, Gov. Abbott is in his rights to replace them with the National Guard, or the Texas Rangers, or a militia drawn from trained police and military veterans.

The Texas Rangers should also be put on alert to impound the Texas offices of the FBI should the Feds endeavor to obstruct the restoration of law at the border.

Don’t forget Covid-24 is due to be released soon, Trump is on his way to triple-digit felony indictments (none legitimate mind you), and we probably have a a few thousand ISIS, Taliban, Al Qaeda, Hamas, etc. “migrants” scheduled to commit atrocities that will require martial law to shut down the white supremacists when one old white guy tries to defend his family and injures one of the migrants raping his wife and daughters.

I get tired of hearing the word “migrants” or “migration” when it should be about illegal aliens. If you move from Ohio to Maine, you’re a migrant- so the word is misused.

Even if they’re persecuted or don’t like climate change- too bad, it’s not our problem. Lots of people say America can’t be the police of the planet- true, and we can’t be the happy place for everyone on the planet. Here in Wokeachusetts, the debate is not only about giving them free housing, free food, drivers licenses, but also finding them jobs- in a state where most jobs are high tech and demand advanced education since all the blue collar jobs moved to China and Mexico. I suppose our woke governor will just make up a few hundred thousand more state jobs in the countless agencies.

It’s a boon to the Dems, Joseph – who else will clean the toilets, empty the bins, clean offices and houses, provide childcare and all the other menial jobs our aspirational woke gen z refuse to do? Same thing happened in UK and Europe – they taught the kids to be ‘aspirational’ and go to University then had nobody to do the menial work. That’s why the EU is expansionist, it has to keep taking over poorer countries to get the cheap labour, then more as their kids get the same message and so on. The USA has been going the same way under the Dems and, like the EU, will likely collapse under the strain of supporting poorer economies.

All that cheap labor coming here to Wokeachusetts isn’t so cheap if the taxpayers have to fund “low cost housing”, education, more money for police- and now to create phony jobs- because of these illegals. We have many “sanctuary cities” here and they’re now being overwhelmed with these extra costs. Yet, I see nobody saying we should terminate this “migration”. I’m not so sure the migrants will take those jobs you mention- if they would, then the state wouldn’t be talking about how to create more jobs for them. However, I’ve been told that the construction industry here likes legal Mexican immigrants as they work extremely hard- in non union projects- being paid based on the work they do.

As a detransitioning former male lesbian thinking of migrating north from the PRC, I can think of nothing more pressing. Let me share my tragic story.

When I went up to Springfield they told me that if I demanded to speak English, then I would have a three year wait to speak with a counselor (I was able to get by on my broken Spanish). Anyway, they referred me to the Arabic for English Speakers Department of the Muslim Outreach Administration. Apparently there are plenty of Arabic speakers recently hired by the DDSfFTLMA. If I’m willing to work hard and convert to Islam, they could see me right after the ballot stuffing rush is over in November.

Well, this is the tragic part. When I got to the AfESD of the MOA, the director who recently migrated from Syria after a stint in ISIS told me that they don’t serve oppressor white anglos. I need to go to the Arabic for Deplorables Department at the Rassenreinheitsabteilung in get this! Fall River! Well I wasn’t going to ride my eBike practically to the Cape.

So as of now, I’m still a male lesbian.

Separate take. Mayorkis is but one of several inept Biden cabinet appointments. Buttigieg (transportation) and Grenholm (energy) are two very obvious others. Unfortunately, inept appointments approved by a Dem controlled Senate are merely consequences of a clearly stolen election, not grounds for impeachment.

Clearly stolen 2020 indicia:

  1. All three bellweather counties going back to Reagan went Trump. 18 of 19 going back to 2000 went Trump.
  2. Enthusiasm: relative rally turnouts.
  3. Voter turnout. Even Obama got less for his second term. Trump in 2020 got ~10 million more.
  4. General swing state shenanigans: see 2000 Mules documentary based on True the Vote evidence.
  5. Specific swing state shenanigans. One very clear example is Wisconsin, where blue Madison and Milwaukee election commissions declared COVID to be an ‘indefinitely confined’ condition, greatly loosening voter ID standards. In 2018, there were ~80,000 indefinitely confined WI voters. In 2020, ~250,000. The margin in Wisconsin for Biden was ~20,000. And, the WI Supreme Court later held the Madison/Milwaukee standards changes and unconstitutional.
  6. The strong pushback by leftist MSM against all of the above evidence as a mere ‘conspiracy theory’.

Harvard professor E.O. Wilson claimed that 70,000 to 100,000 species disappear every year. Thanks to efforts by former Greenpeace founder, Patrick Moore, was able to discover it was from a computer program on Wilson’s desktop computer. The numbers are made up. There! I gave Moore proper attribution. It’s easy to do.

I’m no fan of Wilson- though I’ve read some of his books. When he stuck to his expertise, he was good. But a few years ago (shortly before he died) he signed off on a petition here to lock up all the forests “to save the planet”. His only true expertise was ants. The battle- a full scale war- here- over the forests- is ongoing.

“As an interested watcher of the USA for over 40 years, it has become apparent that Disneyland has expanded not only over the entire state of California, but over almost every other state.”

Disneyland has not expaned to Red States in the United States. Red States still maintain their sanity while Blue (Democrat-controlled) States slide into the abyss because of the insane Democrat policies they implement.

Take California’s governor, Newsom (please!), who last week announced that California would pay for the medical bills of illegal immigrants. Just asking for trouble. Not for himself, but for the people of California.

All correct but you missed the primary strategy for 2020 cheating, and the primary high level indicator,

Primary fraud — fake names and/or addresses on state Registered Voter Rolls led to millions of extra ballots mailed out.

Primary indicator — post election Census Survey
People have always lied on this survey. They claimed to have voted in the Presidential election when they really did not vote. The sample has revealed up to 9 million more votes than were actually counted. Not in 2020. In 2020 the survey estimated that there were four million MORE votes counted than people claimed in the survey
I’m confident people still lied about voting when they did not vote … so how did the actual vote count exceed the claimed votes per the survey? The only answer is massive voting fraud.

Fake names and fake addresses on state voter rolls. Millions of ballots sent out to fake addresses such as office buildings or to people who had left the state or had died. Leftists found ways to get those ballots delivered by mules and counted.

But just enough fake ballots counted after midnight on Election Day in four states to get Biden elected. My state of Michigan was one of them. The ballots in the election got signature matching for an average of two to three seconds. which is just pretending to look, Besides, the signature on the illegal application forms to get the absentee ballots could be exactly the same as the signature on the ballot envelope. That does not prove the ballot came from a legal voter in that state.

9The Bellwether county survey results 18 or 19 were also unprecedented.

Anyone think 2024 election fraud will be less than 2020? Why? 2020 fraud worked and who got punished?

Trump could be in prison befor the election too?

Fascist leftists will not give up power easily.

Too many leftists think election fraud in 2024 would be justified, saving the nation from a fascist Trump. Nine years of mass media propaganda did that.

If the 2024 election fraud is massive and appears to have stiffed Trump again, i predict a civil war will happen, And not just peaceful protests.

No, the Democrats will try to cheat in this election, too. It’s what they do.

“Trump could be in prison before the election too?”

No, the radical Democrats have nothing on Trump. It’s all made-up BS.

DNA test EVERY person who enters the US whether on a visa or illegally and caught. Crime solving will be much easier.

You do the test to have the record.

A little history:

Many Fundamentalist Mormons from Hilldale and Colorado City on the Utah/Arizona Boarder moved to Waco after being persecuted for their religion re. plural marriage.

The Family Services of Texas rounded up all the children and held them. They would not release them to their mothers until the Mothers PROVED the children were theirs through allowing themselves to be DNA tested, as well as the children. The purpose of this was to have a database where they could attempt to prove who the fathers were of the children born to underage mothers so as to prosecute them for rape.

Now we all know the massive numbers of underage girls having babies in the ghettos of America. BUT no one is doing the testing to have a database that would, in a large part, put gang bangers away for MUCH LONGER for rape once they are arrested and charged for whatever other crime and are DNA tested and shown to be the father of some child born to a child.

The same must be done for illegals. DNA test them all and use the database.

(Facepalm) A DNA test for paternity/maternity is one thing – it’s testing for a specific part of the DNA, usually the mitochondrial DNA, against other samples. A DNA record is a different thing entirely and the two should not be confused or conflated as the same.

Put American troops on the border. Enough to completely stop the flow of illegals.

Then, the illegals will accumulate in Mexico to the point that Mexico will finally do something to stop the flow into Mexico, as Mexico gets overwhelmed by illegals who can’t just pass through to the U.S. anymore.

Shut the border down until it comes under control, including ports of entry. See how long Mexican politicians can stand that.

Even if the “climate change” argument were true, it would still not explain why nearly zero “migrants head southwards.

Could the real driver be that Uncle Sugar (and some states) holds the gates open and advertises free food, free housing, free healthcare, free cellphones, free legal advice, etc.? Whereas the countries to the south have very stringent immigration laws, and no freebies (but do share the same language)?

Radical Democrats have put out the welcome mat for all comers.

If I were a poor person living in a country with no future, I would be coming to the United States, too. You can’t blame people for seeking a better life.

The problem is there are a lot of criminals and insane people mixed in along with the flow of innocent people, and we have no idea who they are or what they are up to, and Biden makes no attempt to find out, he just releases them into the interior of the United States and the consequences be damned.

It’s hard to imagine that anyone thinks this is a good idea, but radical Democrats like Biden do think it is a good idea and that’s why it is happening.

If I were the Texas governor, I wouldn’t be sending illegal immigrants to New York City or Chicago, I would send every one of them to Deleware. That’s where the problem is. Let the problem president deal with the illegal immigrant problem at his home.

We even have some Republican House members balking at impeaching anyone. I guess they are afraid of bad press coverage. How about getting afraid for the future of this country, instead?

Some Republicans worry more about how they are covered in the leftwing media, than in taking actions to save the nation from an invasion of unknowns.

Here’s a hint to those kinds of timid Republicans: The Leftwing Media will never love you. The best you can expect is that they will use you, and quote you, if you say the right things. The right things being anything that harms Republcians and helps Democrats.

Telling people you are reluctant to go the impeachment route will get you on MSNBC and CNN. Your position will be highlighted as demonstrating the “divisions” within the Republican Party and how the Republican Party is in disarry and on and on and on. Useful idiots is what people like this are called.

Yes, the presidential election is the ultimate impeachment and removal from office.

In about a year, if we are all very lucky (including you delusional Democrats), Trump will be elected and will start turning this dire, Joe Biden-created situation around.

Trump will have a lot of fixing to do as Joe Biden has done tremendous damage to the American economy and to national security.

The Democrats and Joe Biden are a Disaster for the United States. Everything they touch goes to hell, State or Federal.

January 5, 2024 3:08 am

From the article: “In addition, Mayorkas blamed the ongoing crisis on a 30-year broken immigration system – and also climate change.”

The immigration system was not broken when Trump was in office. All Biden had to do was keep Trump’s policies on illegal immigration in place. Instead, Biden wiped out the Trump restrictions, and now we have hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants crossing our borders every month.

Biden is the one who should be impeached over this. He is the one who is derelict in his duties. Mayorkas is just following orders.

As for the cause of the crisis, it’s not climate change, it’s Biden delusions put into effect.

Joe Biden is the Worst President Evah!

And he still has a year of destruction in the future, unless Congress can hold his feet to the fire and force him to stop the immigration flow. But, I don’t think he would implement anything that would restrict the flow, even if Congress passed new laws requiring it. Biden is not following the law now, why would he change? That’s why *he* should be the one being impeached.
