Mann tells his audience climate change deniers are endangering your children, but mostly avoids urging specific action. If a “denier” gets murdered by a climate nut who thinks his act of violence will protect the children, Mann’s hands are clean – he never told the climate nut to pick up a gun.
If I’m calling out Mann for always being at the rear ranks of the angry mob, then I’m not going to emulate his cowardice.
So what do I think should be done about Michael Mann?
The answer is – nothing. Mann’s personal failure is punishment enough. Mann is already mostly an irrelevance. The pinnacle of his political efforts, the COP climate conferences he helped build into a significant global political event, have degenerated into an annual oil and gas sale bazaar run by Arab petro-sultans. Major CO2 emitters like India and China barely even pretend to care about the Western climate obsession, both are openly competing with each other to expand coal powered industrial capacity as rapidly as possible.
Mann’s life’s work is in ruins, and every passing year further hilights his utter failure. He can keep ranting all he wants – outside his audience of climate diehards, Mann’s words simply don’t matter any more.
I don’t feel intimidated by Mann’s climate rants – in my opinion Mann’s wild tweets are entertaining parody. Other than the remote possibility a violent ecolune will take him seriously, reading or watching Mann’s latest rant is like watching an angry hand puppet on the Muppet Show.
Mann will not be remembered as another Einstein or Newton, as one of the science greats. At most Mann will be a historical footnote, someone who made a few wild climate predictions which didn’t come to pass, an uninteresting one liner in a history of science book whom people of the future browse past and rapidly forget.

He is absolutely right!
Distorting science and lying about it should be punished or at least corrected on a cold intellectual level!
Science and emotion and also politics and emotion do not mix well (the later is employed often from many different politicians)
The academics, scientists and political leaders pushing the CAGW agenda are a disgrace to their professions and the advancement of knowledge in general. We need to inform the average guy that he has been lied to, cheated and is being stripped of his earnings and wealth for no good reason.
The average guy is so entrenched in propaganda they can’t comprehend the lies they blindly believed could be wrong. Because the lies are presented as unquestionable fact people don’t think to question them.
Oh you are absolutely right. Political leaders and the mainstream media have a stranglehold on the average guy. That is why it is so important that we get through to him. It won’t be easy but I am convinced it can be done. We don’t have to convince a large majority a small minority will do. You get a small minority of average people complaining that they have been lied to, cheated and that their hard earned money has been wasted on useless programs and all of this nonsense stops.
Nobody likes to be lied to. Getting the average guy to see that has been a challenge I’ve taken on with limited success. The human ego doesn’t like admitting they were duped.
So what do I think should be done about Michael Mann?
First, I think he should be informed that 97+% of all real scientists (!) that KNOW for a fact that climate on Earth has indeed changed continuously for the last 4 billion years of so, sometimes catastrophically* . . . and those climate changes are in no way attributable to mankind.
Only an real idiot—or a “clever fellow” with an agenda to misinform others—would use the phrase “climate denier” as if it actually had meaning to educated people.
Since I have no doubt, Mr. Mann (no, he doesn’t deserve the title of Professor) will not get beyond this first step, there is no need for me to suggest following steps toward his mental recovery.
*Perhaps the greatest climate change that has occurred on Earth wiped out something like 90% of all living species over a period of 60,000 years centered on some 252 million years ago, at the end of the Permian period.

Actually, Mann has been pretty successful at keeping up his profile. He’s just moved from science to politics. He does all kinds of interviews. He does what appears to be an almost regular column for Newsweek. He’s up to 175K tweets (looks like he’s just launched a big attack on Anthony Watts).
Is Newsweek still pretending to be a reputable news source for anything?
In fact, who still buys or reads Newsweek?

I get a good laugh at the alarmists who claim that our grandchildren will denounce us for not taking climate action by renouncing fossil fuels. My grandparents burned coal for heat and used unleaded gas in their cars; yet I don’t know that any members of my extended family are defacing their grave sites for their actions.

My grandparents on both sides raised families during the great Depression.
I’m rather proud of my parents as depression babies that fought fascism and communism.
Not a single climate scientist can tell you how much climate varies naturally. Not a single one. The best they can do is a guess.
If you have to add “science” to your name, you can be sure it isn’t science.
I never had the impression that Mann “mattered” in any way. Rodeo clowns at least also have some practical purpose. However, while he isn’t made it to the billionaires club, he has financially benefited in a rather substantial manner.

I disagree with where Mann will be placed in history books. Kooks and nuts are generally ignored as a waste of time. Mann’s ultimate destiny is irrelevance.
Michael Mann is the chief climate denier.
Mann will be featured in history and his position there cemented immediately after he presented the IPCC with his hokeystick.
Mann’s position in history is that he personally topped ‘Piltdown Man’ as the word’s greatest fraud costing western democracies trillions and likely their democracy.
They keep telling us that they are many and we are few yet we seem to be such a huge threat and must be silenced at all costs. They won’t even debate us or publish our works such is their insecurity. From “hide the decline” to “global boiling” it has been deceit and hyperbole in the scramble for money and power aided and abetted by sell outs like Mann.

Saul Alinsky gave us the answer: RIDICULE!
Don’t bother to continue to point out his scientific and technical errors; Montford and McIntyre et al have provided more than enough evidence for those who make rational vs emotional decisions.
But people can laugh at someone who falsely claims to have won a Nobel Peace Prize, makes claims that never come true, or loses a judgement against another scientist (Dr. Tim Ball) that Mike brought because of a joke and then fails to pay the court ordered costs, or drags out another suit for over a decade in the US.
Related to the latter, Josh and Steyn offer a great example of ridicule with their book A Disgrace to the Profession.
Shame is a powerful tool for controlling humans. The success of climate alarm primarily rests on those who don’t want to be called climate deniers.
Mann failed The Duck Test when he ignored the most basic of scientific tenets, ie. comparing like with like , and published his infamous hockey stick graph using temperature data with such different provenances with proxy data at one end and satellite data at the other.
Adopting this methodology is telling the world that it is acceptable to sacrifice scientific accuracy in looking for data to support a conclusion, no-one who cared for science would dream of publishing such nonsense.
The brainwashed lap up his nonsense like it was the bible. A commenter I’ve been trying to educate is claiming self defense as justification for draconian policies to fight the climate crisis. He’s convinced his children’s future is being threatened existentially.
No amount of empirical data or peer reviewed evidence can shake him from his paranoid delusions.
I agree with the sentiment but not the strategy of simply leaving him to his own daily idiocy. Mickey Mannish is the walking, talking example of how abandoning the scientific method in favour of propaganda and corruption is the surest and fastest route to social purgatory, academic failure and public derision one could take. As such I feel the more his decent into irrelevance is exposed and repeated, the more a cautionary tale his career will be to young rising academics who still have a chance to make ethical and rational decisions about their future careers.
