Biden: I’ve Declared a Climate Emergency ‘Practically Speaking’

CNN: ‘Biden incorrectly claims he has declared a national emergency on climate’– CNNWhile Biden has taken a series of significant legislative and executive steps to combat climate change, he has stopped short of declaring a national emergency, which would unlock sweeping new federal authorities and funds to combat the climate crisis. Climate activists have called on Biden since the earliest days of his presidency to declare a national emergency. … The president seemed close to declaring a climate emergency in the summer of 2022 after it appeared Sen. Joe Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, had tanked the Inflation Reduction Act – Biden’s signature climate and health care bill. In a July 20, 2022, speech in Massachusetts, Biden strongly hinted that he could declare an emergency.

Politico: Biden says he has ‘practically’ declared a climate emergency. But he actually hasn’t…YET – ‘Would give him a host of new powers to combat climate change’– “We’ve already done that,” Biden said Wednesday when asked whether he was prepared to declare a national climate emergency during an interview on The Weather Channel. “We’ve conserved more land, we’ve moved into rejoining the Paris Climate Accord. We’ve got a $60 billion climate control facility.” When pressed about whether he has actually declared an emergency, Biden responded, “Practically speaking, yes.”

However, no such declaration has come from the White House. Experts say Biden could invoke the 1976 National Emergencies Act to give himself the power to order the manufacture of clean energy technology, deploy renewables on military bases, block crude oil exports or even suspend offshore drilling — though that would require compensation to the owners. Though the law limits emergency declarations to one year, it could be renewed annually to address the increasingly troubling impacts of climate change.

Flashback: Morano on Biden’s coming ‘climate emergency’: ‘Seeking exact same powers they had under COVID…to bypass democracy,…to tell the Supreme Court to stuff it’

What it would mean for Biden to declare a national ‘climate emergency’ – ‘Triggers ability for him to deploy around 130 different powers’– U.S. presidents have declared 60 national emergencies since 1976, according to the think tank Demos. Historically, those have typically been for acute crises, such as specific natural disasters, rather than a long-term predicament like climate change. …

“If he declares a national emergency, it triggers the ability for him to deploy around 130 different powers,” Jean Su, energy justice program director and senior attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity, said.

Biden could stop “the export of crude oil…phase out all exports and imports of fossil fuels entirely…stop issuing permits for offshore oil and gas wells under already existing leases and halt all drilling immediately…marshaling funding under the DPA to deploy clean energy — for example, rooftop solar installations on low-income housing.”

I guess I have to explain my play on words was a paraphrasing of “a 10% cut for the Big Guy”, as reported thusly:

“James Gilliar, a business associate summarizing the allocation of the equity in Oneida Holdings LLC., in the email, wrote how four partners would get 20 percent each, except for Jim Biden, who would get 10 percent. He added a question: ’10 held by H for the big guy?’ One of the recipients of the mail, Anthony Bobulinski, has said that the ‘big guy’ referred to Joe Biden and that ‘H’ referred to Hunter.”
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/11/23/dissecting-gop-claims-about-hunter-biden-deals-allegedly-involving-his-father/

Yes, I did intend “Small Fry” to specifically refer to H.

If Joe’s run for president is stopped by evidence of corruption and bribery, then this would be the opportunity for the Democrats to get rid of Kamala Harris, who is obviously not up to the job, even to Democrats.

If Joe were to retire from the presidency early for health reasons, this would open the door for a number of Democrat candidates to throw their hat in the ring, and any one of them, as bad as they are, would beat Kamala Harris for the nomination.

Will Joe retire to escape prosecution? That is the question. Of course, if he retires, the Republicans will let him off the hook, so there is an incentive for him to bow out if they have him nailed, dead to rights, on bribery charges. And it looks like they already do have him nailed. The Moscow mayor’s wife gave the Biden’s $3.5 million, and she stayed off the list of Russians who the U.S. sanctioned and restricted. She even had dinner with Joe and Hunter. There are pictures.

But, there are other sorts of crazy. Consider the recently deceased fellow that was going to wear a “ghille suit”, use a rifle, and shoot the president. I searched-up images of ghille suit. [Raise your hand if you knew.}

This guy that was supposedly going to shoot Biden was in a wheelchair. And he was about 73 years old and was in bad health. His neighbors said he wasn’t the type to go try to assasinate the president.

The leftwing media is trying to make the guy out as a rabid Republican. I don’t know what his affiliation is, but there was at least one report that said he not only threatened Biden, but Trump also.

The FBI went to his house and shot him dead. I haven’t heard if the man did anything to cause the FBI to fire. And the FBI is not giving out any information on the raid.

Do you notice how the federal government is getting more and more secretive? They won’t say anything, about anything, and they won’t release any information even when it is required by law that they do so.

They obviously have a lot to hide.

When a regime wants to stop dissidents and opponents from having a platform to speak out against the regime, they stop bringing them in to stand trial and start issuing ‘shoot to kill’ orders. Russia has done it, the UK did it with IRA terrorists, perhaps the Biden regime has decided to do the same.

The report that he was threatening Trump, too, is probably not true.

I’ve been trying to keep up with this case. One thing I have noticed is that absolutely nothing has been released as to what actually happened when the FBI went to this guys house.

You may be willing to assume that the guy drew on the agents and forced them to shoot him, and that may well be what happened. But I’m not ready to make that assumption yet.

The guy said that he was going to take out his ghille suit and M24.
While it’s possible the army may have let him keep his ghille suit, but I would be surprised if they let him keep his M24 when he retired.

He could’ve bought a Remington 700 after retirement and most military style Ghillie suits can also be purchased commercially. I also don’t think this was the case either – his being in a wheelchair really doesn’t fit with the idea that he was a credible threat. Didn’t the FBI do a thorough background check before they killed him?

Notice how they aren’t interested in good paying jobs. They must be union jobs.
Considering how much the unions have invested in the DNC over the last 70 years or so, they are finally getting their payback. And of course much of the increased union dues will find it’s way into Democrat coffers, and Biden family pockets.

I find the premise here unlikely.
I went and read summaries of the National Emergencies Act (NEA) of 1976 (50USC1601-1651). The core is what comprises a National Emergency. Both the House and Senate summaries of the NEA at time of passage say it has to be an ‘unexpected crisis’.
For example Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border after images of thousand of illegal aliens surging through Mexico with The Mexican police overwhelmed. Unexpected and crisis. He used it to get funding for the wall.

Climate change is neither unexpected (IPCC 40 years) nor a crisis. Biden saying so would not withstand court challenge. Which is why he hasn’t officially done so despite all the requests Morano cites.

Everybody calm down.

Your first mistake is in thinking that Joe Biden and his Administration are bound to follow the rule of law.

Your second mistake is in thinking that Joe Biden worries about court challenges to his EOs . . . look at how DOJ gave him a slap-down on his original EO “pausing” drilling on Federal lands, only for him to come right back and try to do the same thing again.

References:

“Judge Terry A. Doughty of the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana granted a preliminary injunction Tuesday against the administration, saying that the power to pause offshore oil and gas leases ‘lies solely with Congress’ because it was the legislative branch that originally made federal lands and waters available for leasing.”

In the 2020 Presidential election, Biden won 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232 electoral votes, or a ratio of 57%:43%. Not many people would define a swing of 7% of the total electoral votes available as a “landslide”.

You would think electricity at a wholesale price of $4000/MWh, as it is in ERCOT right now, would wake some folks up, but I am not hopeful. This is the fourth time in 5 days that the prices have spiked over $1000/MWh, which today looks cheap.

$4000/MWh is the marginal (real-time) price, IOW, the last MWh produced that wasn’t contracted for in the day-ahead market. Someone correct me if I’m in error.

ERCOT Day-Ahead Market – https://www.ercot.com/mktinfo/dam

“The Day-Ahead Market (DAM) … matches willing buyers and sellers, subject to network security and other constraints… . It provides a platform to hedge congestion costs in the day-ahead of the Operating Day, and instruments to mitigate the risk of price volatility in Real-Time.”

It is my understanding also that the $4000/MWh is a spot market price, and not a price contracted for ahead of time. But it is indeed a real price of real power. And somebody will be paying it.

I would also mention that nearly 3/4ths of the demand is being met by fossil fuels–natural gas, coal and lignite, about 5% by nuclear and under 1/4th by wind and solar. If they plan to be net-zero or anything close to it, they are not moving in the right direction. Out of a nameplate capacity of 38,000 MW of wind, they are getting less than 10,000 MW. Solar isn’t bad compared to nameplate, but is only good for 8 hours on the best of days.

re: “It is my understanding also that the $4000/MWh is a spot market price, and not a price contracted for ahead of time.”

That’s right. In a day-ahead market, you bid and commit to a per-determined price for the next day. If you fall short of what you need on the day of use, you pay the spot market price ON the day of use. That price also varies across the system, because, you still have to ‘haul’ that energy to where its needed, and that affects price, so the map on the ERCOT website is termed “Real-Time Locational Price” map. Moving energy across already loaded transmission lines may or may not be possible and comes with that ‘locational price’. Additions, corrections welcome.

And they will suffer the consequences, along with the rest of the world.

I hope they realise what they have done.

And I hope they feel deep-seated shame about it.

“ANYONE that has ever supported this agenda is an enemy of America and the world.”

This is true. Wittingly, or unwittingly.

If Joe crime family, traitor Biden were to do so, the governors of Texas, Florida and other states should simultaneously declare a climate policy emergency. As a first action, I suggest that those governors terminate without benefits all university researchers and faculty whose complicity has led to this policy emergency. In Texas, the first of a long list to go would be Andrew Dessler and Katherine Hayhoe. Under the governors’ emergency powers, they should declare a news blackout of all mainstream media, and publish the names and addresses of all prominent media climate hacks.

To ensure reliable power to the people during the crisis, they should require that all renewable generation assets operate continuously at 80+ percent capacity factors or face fines, elimination of all forms of subsidy and potential shutdown.

To help the governor to be prepared to act swiftly, I believe I will begin compiling “the list.”

Another First for the Biden administration. President Biden is the first President ever in the history of this country that believes his administration can control the weather. Since climate is defined as 30 years of weather, that is exactly what he is saying.

The man behind the curtain doesn’t really believe that weather can be controlled. It is a smoke screen to cover the theft of even more money.

Though the law limits emergency declarations to one year, it could be renewed annually to address the increasingly troubling impacts of climate change.

It might be difficult to renew it without significant consequences if the global temperature continues to climb, which I suspect it will, as in 2020. It will then be necessary to game the measurements even more obviously than what is already being done.

You mean Obama and the other cronies who control the empty shell named Joe Biden will seize additional authority.

Joe looked bad yesterday. He was having trouble recalling what he was talking about. Standing there with a blank stare. He’s getting worse by the day, it appears.

The Founding Fathers of the Unitrd States were intelligent, common sense, reasonable, most often polite people. That is why James Madison did not introduce an article in the Constitution explicitly limiting elecction to public office to people in the perfect use of their intellectual capacities.

However, they also specified one had to be landowner to vote, based on the logical thought that if only people with skin in the game could vote, much idiocy would be avoided.

The US Constitution has been eroded for decades.
How can any President declare an “Emergency” and then claim these dictatorial powers when Congress has time to act on the claimed “Emergency”?
If Russia or China launched, OK, the nuclear football.
A repeat of The New Madrid earthquakes, the biggest earthquakes in American history. OK.
Yosemite’s volcano wakes up. OK.
But “Climate Change” which is at worst creeping along at Nature’s pace? NO!

Again, why so much repetition in these kinds of articles? The same headlines are repeated multiple times, same paragraphs, same links…
