Why Greta Thunberg really irks some Aussies

Climate activist Greta Thunberg possesses intelligence, articulation and integrity that many Australians should aspire to, writes Dean Frenkel.
WHY DOES Greta Thunberg provoke the angst of so many conservative Australians? She speaks better than the vast majority of them.
Her expression is direct. She makes her points without beating around the bush, throwing in niceties or taking the back road. She looks truth in the eye and tells it how it is. Usually, this trait is attractive to Australians who like to call a spade a spade — but not in Greta’s case.

Greta is not an inspiration, she is an ignorant troll who dresses in plastic while demanding the world abandon fossil fuel.
When Greta is caught out, instead of owning her mistakes, on at least one occasion she apparently deleted the evidence.
What really irks me though is Greta is a convicted adult criminal who keeps trying to influence our kids.
Greta might have made enough money or might be receiving enough support to not have to worry about the consequences of skipping school and having a criminal record, but what about the young people who Greta influences?
A criminal record can severely impact people’s future life choices. Long after the Greta kids forget their childish climate hysteria, those who followed Greta’s path into criminality could still be paying a heavy price for their youthful indiscretions.
Growing up these days is complicated. The last thing we need is for influencers like Dean Frenkel to amplify the message of adult criminals like Greta. Such amplification can only add to our children’s confusion, by intensifying our kids’ exposure to Greta’s shallow, ignorant and reckless brand of climate doomsday propaganda.
Greta has high functioning Autism, Aspergers syndrome, so I really doubt she is a good example. Except of being exploited by cynical publicists for the Green Blob.
Fetal alcohol syndrome accounts for her dwarfism as well.
And the evidence for this is…? Such ad hominem attacks do no-one any favours, nor offer a constructive argument!

Greta is wrong on just about everything her team makes her say and do, but the personal attacks are repugnant.
It isn’t proof but she has characteristic appearance of FAS and her mother was a regular drinker. Not her fault if true but also a good reason to doubt her clarity of thought. The medical community is notoriously bad at consistently diagnosis mental health conditions accurately and Autism/Asperger’s along with attention deficit disorder are diagnoses with wide variation in application. People often prefer those labels to FAS which is very common but comes with a lot of baggage.
Not so sure Milo. Sure she looks small and child-like compared to other 20 year olds but, don’t forget, she went onto a vegan diet at age 10 so we may be seeing the result of 10 years of poor nutrition and harmful dieting.

I have high functioning Autism. The term high functioning means you can function in society while just being considered a bit quirky by your peers. I am not saying I am pissing in a solid gold khazi, but I do know the joys of the top tax bracket.
This is a woman who is barely functional away from her handlers, thinks she can see CO2 and since she refuses to fly the only time she has been high is at the top of a ladder.
To take the advice of Dean Frenkel I should express my expressions direct. He believes I should make my points without beating around the bush, throwing in niceties or taking the back road.

What if EVERYONE on Earth acted as she does? Using FF every day, yet demanding that FF be abandoned, with lots of virtue signaling and photo ops on top of the hypocrisy, with everyone agreeing with everyone else, yes stop using FF we only have a few more years left, and make a career out of it. I will just observe that, from her numerous incorrect public statements about Earth’s climate, Greta Thunberg would not know truth if it struck her in the eye.

Frenkel is a bottom feeder and should be removed from his position immediately. I have no respect for Greta, she doesn’t know what she is talking about and the sorry POS alarmists use her because skeptics are not inclined to attack a child.
The one thing she does that I wish we would do is use simple to understand language, she is talking to the common guy. That is what is important. Imagine how effective we could be if our people did the same thing. The people at WUWT and the people who follow WUWT are really bright, really really bright. All of the studies, reports, surveys and explanations found here are important, very important but they are not how you communicate with the common man. Talk plain give examples and show your work in the simplest way possible.
The people who can understand all of the technical language, complex math and bewildering scientific processes are not the ones we need to convince. The common every day guy is our audience or should be. Convince him and the pseudo climate scientists will be running for cover in no time.

I doubt they could. For better or worse Greta Thunberg has been a singular phenomenon; producing another female teen activist icon would backfire badly. The Thunberg gravy train will rumble onwards with books, the philanthropic foundation, appearances and then branch out into other lines designed to make money from the ‘Greta Thunberg’ name until no-one remembers who she was. In a few years time it’ll just be ‘Greta who?’ and the AGW activism will, hopefully, also be as obscure as her.
I wonder if this Dean Frenkel fellow would have been impressed with Jim Jones? Revernen Moon? How about David Koresh? Both of those men were, loud, forceful and articulate speakers as well. And we all know what happened to those who followed them!

I know what bugs me about Greta. It’s the way the self-proclaimed “progressives” have drooled all over her like she is the font of wisdom, the child wonder, the Baby Jesus. Time Magazine made her their person of the year, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, she shared her great wisdom with the United Nations and with various world leaders, she was fawned over by the beautiful and the powerful, and her every move was reported by the news media. Every time she went to the bathroom it made the headlines of the New York Times, PBS, and BBC.
And the reality is that she is just a dumb high school drop-out who doesn’t know what she is talking about and has no experience with real life.
Your word choices are abrasive but the point stands.
Kids who like to talk let people know what their parents think.
Unfortunately “no experience with real life” describes even the smartest ones.
It appears to me that many people (young and old) all around the world enjoying Western democracies feel anxious & outraged about their lot in life, and take every opportunity to blame their unsatisfactory circumstances to some wrong or other that has been unjustly perpetrated upon them.
Not being able to realistically assign a particular wrong deliberately committed against them that caused their sad circumstances, the outraged will eagerly align and join with some cult or other that conveniently fits as the perpetrator of their chosen wrong.
This, I believe, is a way of denying personal responsibility for the decisions / choices / actions that the outraged have taken along their life journey, where we all have to choose between courses that result in “order” or “chaos”.
As long as personal responsibility is not inculcated from generation to generation, I fear that our 21st century Western societies will inevitably go the way of the Roman empire and other such ultimately indulgent societies.
There is no such thing as moving from “safe space” to “safe space” in life.
No matter what the Gretas of the world try to tell the kids (and their juvenile parents).

Too late for me. I already graduated High School. And, while it’s true I did drop out of college after my freshman year, I did go back to and earned a degree (a small one) in what I really wanted to learn about.

A superb summary of nut zero – hope Greta reads it
A good summary but not complete – it fails to mention the Spring 2020 ‘Citizens Assembly on Climate Change’ where a group of activists bombarded a group of over 100 people with climate activist propaganda and ideology in a ludicruous series of staged meetings. The end result were the ‘Net Zero’ policies – the activists ramming through the policies only they wanted using highly questionable methods with only a paper-thin veneer of ‘public consultation’.

I tell you what irks me – is that her position on the subject, and those like her, will imposed far more hardships on society than any climate change ever will. Not to mention it is fundamentally a far left political ideology, couched in “science” to achieve a look of credibility. History has shown far left politics is a formula for failure.
I feel sorry for Greta because she was indoctrinated at a very young age and then used to present an agenda by her parents. I would classify it as child abuse and her parents should be put in prison for doing so. Because of her Autism it was easy to do and unfortunately its unlikely she will ever she how she was abused and overcome the indoctrination. Some day, maybe we will look back and prevent this from happening again but for now she is the Pied Piper of climate change and leading everybody down the garden path.

There’s a cost to be paid for all this massive propaganda machinery and taxeating with poor folks’ energy bills and increasing homelessness the most obvious. The second is she knows exactly what she is doing. If this is true she sincerely wants to destroy modern civilisation and have several billion starve to death as we are forced – for our own good – to go back to 1300s methods of food creation and distribution.
