It must have been a bloody accurate hair dye. Talk about pin point precision.

The obvious question to her. If renewable energy is 1/10th the cost of carbon based fuel, why does she need any government action? Surely, ever business and every consumer would have been on to it the moment the shops opened.

Or maybe, her experts are useless, has she been listening to Nick?

Imagine life for these people when the reliable power goes out. No phone, no internet and walking everywhere on an empty stomach.

People really need to live the life the preach. Start today.

Germany has the highest electricity price in the world because renewable energy is 1/10th the cost of fossil-fuel-generated electricity. World class stupidity does not make good media.

I am a big fan of JRM but I must say that it’s disheartening that he did not challenge her assertions that people are dying. Or her assertion that the wheat and potato harvests have failed. (Have they done so anywhere? What is the accurate situation with food production in 2022?).

I swear that if there was a movement to euthanize and eat old people, Tory politicians would respectfully discuss the pros and cons rather than be seen as impolite.

He didn’t much chance to get a word in and is old school polite.

Good though was the reporter who spoke to those who glue themselves to tarmac. He asked them who was funding them. They thought it was public donations. No they were funded by big oil. They laughed derisively. No, said the reporter it’s here in your favourite newspaper the Guardian and showed it to them. They were left speechless! Now that was funny.

Ingredients of violet dye as 1 example by google:

Ingredients. Aqua (Pure), Cetearyl Alcohol, Distearoylethyl Hydroxyethylmonium Methosulfate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Propylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Methylparaben, Formic Acid, Basic Violet 2, HC Blue No. 15, Basic Violet 16.

May not be but seems unhealthy 😀

To confirm at least part of Denis’s speculation:
Propylene glycol can be created in two different ways. It is primarily made by treating propylene oxide—a chemical produced from refining petroleum—with water.
Propylene glycol can also be obtained from glycerol, a major byproduct of biodiesel production. This kind of propylene glycol is mainly used for industrial purposes like making plastic or antifreeze.

The more I hear from her crowd the more I realize the word ‘stupid’ is completely insufficient to describe them. They have no curiosity. No desire to learn the world they live in. No self-awareness. I believe there is a hard wired mindset with some people that simply refuses to accept they could ever be wrong.

For other people there is a degree of curiosity that overwhelms the feeling of embarrassment that comes from being corrected. For them it is not being proven wrong, but being exposed to a new piece of information… and/or a feeling that what is actually best in life doesn’t actually include what you have just been told.

(“Tomatoes are fruit? Who knew?!”)

For the other part of the population they have evolved in their lives to believe that they are doing the ‘right thing’ and their actions are part of a morally correct grand plan. They are right because of cause they are right and how could they be wrong. To be wrong would suggest they have effectively wasted not just a chance for bonus points at pub quiz night (Q 7, is tomato a fruit or vegetable?) but have been wrong their entire life and all their actions have been for nothing.

So when you confront them and upset their apple carts by saying ‘actually the size of grain harvests have been steadily increasing over the past decades and the mass famines you talk about have no actually occurred’ they see it as a direct attack on everything they have based their life around. They cannot accept it at face value as to them there is much more than face value.

Hence they bring in mental gymnastics to justify to themselves that they are, technically, still correct. They add sub clauses. They re-quote their original statements to show they were actually suggestions. They straight out re-define reality. They call you a phobe.

All of these solutions help them sleep at night by ‘proving’ to themselves that they were still, technically, correct.

To normal people being told tomatoes are fruits is trivia. To others? You just hate vegans!!!

In France, we have people in LFI (which is a French party made for Jeremy Corbyn if he wanted to become French) saying that we should do economic degrowth to fight poverty. A provoked recession to make people wealthier, is the “idea”.

We also have economic teachers wanting less hours of work per week, early retirement and a shock of unproductivity in agriculture.
Although some are doing so little teaching, student made an Amber Alert for them! They have implemented less work hours (actually zero). Universities don’t care.

I don’t think you can hide people from the French teaching system NOW. I mean really. Young people have been conned by fake univ. It’s sad, it isn’t entirely their fault… but you basically cannot rely on fresh French diplomas at that point. I know I would not.

SOAS

The School of Oriental Studies was founded by the British state as an instrument to strengthen Britain’s political, commercial, and military presence in Asia and Africa. It would do so by providing instruction to colonial administrators (Colonial Service and Imperial Civil Service), commercial managers, and military officers, as well as to missionaries, doctors, and teachers, in the language of the part of Asia or Africa to which each was being posted, together with an authoritative introduction to the customs, religions, laws, and history of the people whom they were to govern or among whom they would be working.

The school’s founding mission was to advance British scholarship, science, and commerce in Africa and Asia, and to provide London University with a rival to the Oriental schools of Berlin, Petrograd, and Paris. The school immediately became integral to training British administrators, colonial officials, and spies for overseas postings across the British Empire. Africa was added to the school’s name in 1938. (Wikipedia. My emphasis).

She attends a relic of the evil British Colonial enterprise. She, and it, should be cancelled.

This is a religion. It is NOT amenable to discussion.

There have been many cults documented in history. Typically, true believers are required to sign away all their possessions and prepare for some ‘end-time’ – the Rapture, aliens landing, whatever. They are completely committed to their cause and burn their bridges.

We know that these people will not listen to reason. We know that in many cases they will happily die as a result of their actions while still (presumably) believing that they are being saved. We know that even after their beliefs are shown to be utterly and catastrophically wrong they will still continue to hold them, either avoiding rationalisation or adding more illogical beliefs to support their central creed.

We have never found an effective way of helping these people. In most cases they are a small minority and end up with an early death. However, there have been a few occasions in history when cult-like behaviour has collapsed a civilisation. The Nazca and Paracas cultures may have gone this way. More recently, the Xhosa of South Africa destroyed their culture similarly.

I only hope that we do not do the same…

But universities are actually teaching this tripe.
It is very easy for lecturers and professors to teach this unhinged crap when they are on very good salaries and pensions for life when they retire.
So many of these ( teachers ) have little real life experience other than school and university .
The Green political parties believe this rubbish and unfortunately a fair proportion of the voting public vote for them and their policies which can only make countries poorer .
Why screw your country when Asian countries are increasing their use of fossil fuel dramatically ?
China is now using 5.3 billion tonnes of coal which is more than was used by the whole world up to 2009.
World coal use has exceeded 8 billion tonnes .
Asia is producing iron and steel that the world needs but these university people are so insulated that they are ignorant of what is happening on the other side of the world .
The attacks on agriculture by these academics should be a warning to every one .
Where do they think that their food is going to come from once they succeed in banning farmed animals?

Like brightly colored tropical frogs, the brightly colored hair is a warning of a poisonous creature that should be avoided.

The next general election in the UK is scheduled to be held no later than 28 January 2025, with Parliament being dissolved no later than 17 December 2024.

Tory rule since Boris Johnson took over in 2019 has been one fiasco after another for three years, with BoJo’s Tory successors being no less inept and incompetent than he was.

Conservative and liberal pundits alike are predicting that the Tories will be soundly defeated in that election, with Labour being given carte blanche to rule as they see fit.

Labour Party leader Keir Starmer is likely to be the UK’s next Prime Minister. He is firmly committed to Net Zero, and is opposed both to fracking and to further investment in North Sea oil and gas.

Once Labour is back in power, how far will it go in pushing Net Zero? Will it begin the process of closing down the UK’s fossil fuel energy infrastructure without anything resembling an adequate replacement by wind, solar, and nuclear?

If Ed Miliband is put in charge of energy the answer to your question is a definite yes, others a probable yes.

That was hard to watch. She’s a moron and she wears in on her sleeve for all to see.

Just shout, make sure to include “I’m not a scientist!” when your logic train is completely derailed.

I listened carefully and it seems to me her arguments boil down to “we must immediately do what I say or millions of people will die.” Sigh. She changed the subject when JRM pointed out that solar panels don’t work when the sun isn’t shining. Her faith in the infallibility of “experts” is obvious. She says the government must insulate all homes or people will freeze and/or starve. Huh? I thought global warming meant the end of snow. Eventually, she had to resort to personal attacks on “multimillionaire” JRM and repeating the same talking points.

It really makes no difference how much lipstick we try to put on this global warming/climate change pig, she is still a pig full of lipstick.
