The odds are growing that the cost of hosting the next COP conference will exceed the money actually delivered on all those broken climate promises.
‘Not fair’: Ghana slams West over low funding for climate change
Western countries said they will spend about $25bn by 2025 to help Africa adapt to climate change but pledged only $55m.
11 Oct 2022
Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has criticised Western nations for their low financial commitment to addressing issues caused by climate change on the continent.
“$55m for 54 countries – this is not fair,” Akufo-Addo was quoted as saying by French state broadcaster RFI on Monday.
Akufo-Addo who is on a six-day visit to France where he is expected to meet President Emmanuel Macron, was referring to commitments made during a climate summit in Rotterdam last September – $23m from the United Kingdom, $15m from Norway, $10m from France and $7m from Denmark.
“The adaptation summit had the mission of mobilising $25bn by 2025 … ridiculously, while the G20 countries are responsible for 80 percent of emissions, Africa left Rotterdam with pledges of up to $55m,” the Ghanaian leader said.
The African Development Bank pledged an additional $12.5bn to support the cause.
…
“It is a lot, of course, but it is derisory,” said Akufo-Addo, reminding that G20 countries “are responsible for 80 percent of [gas] emissions”.

I’m not sure I’d complain about $55 million, or even a fiftieth share of $55 million. But I can understand President Nana Akufo-Addo’s frustration. He was expecting a lot more.
The solution is obvious – instead of allowing themselves to be led around by the nose, the leaders of countries which expected to receive climate finance should boycott COP27, until a decent amount of money shows up.
Everyone would benefit from such a boycott – not only would African leaders finally receive a substantial amount of climate cash, Western politicians would have to start explaining to voters why they are sending billions of dollars to Africa, when there so many problems at home which need addressing.
Beggars can’t be choosers. Maybe instead of waiting for “climate change” handouts they should develop their resources and grow their economies.
Sooo…what happened to the $500,000,000 (1/2 billion) O’Bummer gave them back in 2016?
I guess cash down the wabbit whole doesn’t count.
I demand there be an accounting of all the previous moneys sent to these “deserving” countries. And not another dime until then.
The studies cost money. No money, then no study to find where the money has gone.
There was a good example yesterday how the Adaption Fund is being spent. It was used to produce a report that claimed not enough money was being spent in Africa to support their TRANSITION. That means from poverty to “renewable” energy powered economy.
So from poverty to…poverty.
The “leaders” got richer…
Come now. Mercedes-Maybach limos don’t pay for themselves.
You don’t expect African Beloved Leaders to have to pull anything out of their bulging Swiss bank accounts, do you?
Not another dime EVER. THERE IS NO CRISIS aside from their mind-numbingly stupid non-solutions!
Let’s get a detailed rundown of all the “climate adaption” work they’ve done with that money.
Now, THAT will be a short list!
And just who wears the coats whose pockets are a wabbit hole?
(Why does this remind me of Solyndra’s CEOs?)
It’s all in how you graft it
Isn’t that just what they are doing? China, India and Africa are all flat out developing – with atmospheric CO2 increasing continuously.
And yet, there is no exceptional phase change in Earth’s current era H₂O.
I just discovered another new (2019) journal–Conservation Science and Practice. Here is their solution. https://conbio.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/25784854
“Our findings reveal that higher education courses on climate change may be missing key aspects of climate literacy. These gaps include a dearth of place-based solutions, little attention to climate change communication, and few references to biodiversity. Improvements could be made by making climate change courses more interdisciplinary and ensuring biodiversity and natural ecosystems are addressed. Also, including place-based information, and mitigation and adaptation solutions will make it easier for students to digest complex systems, deepen their level of inquiry, and practice communication skills.” Curriculum Gaps for Adult Climate Literacy. Olivia Cooper, et al. 2019. Vol 1(10). e102.
https://doi.org/10.1111/csp2.102
Improvements could be made by scrapping these idiotic courses entirely and getting the students to do a proper degree where they might actually learn something worthwhile for a change.
But think of all the $17/hr. jobs awaiting them washing all those solar panels.
H.D. Horse:
I note you don’t mention the word ‘Honesty’ here. Without that all the rest is merely Woke verbiage and not worth a carrot.
We suffer enough with Institutions we used to revere, selling themselves to political dishonesty, without teaching them how to do it.
“H.D. Horse:”
Woah Nelly!
What the heck, I’ll pledge a Billion Dollars myself. The check is in the mail. Idiots.
Several Nigerian princes just notified me, that if I send them my bank account information, they will then match your billion dollar pledge!
piker…
The kicker for them is Climate financing is not even on the COP27 agenda. The activist greentards have been campaigning to try to get it on but no success so far.
In the USA, interest on the National Debt is increasing – as is the debt itself. Uncle Sam is $24 Trillion down and interest rates are going up. This is approaching what economists call a “doom loop”. [Red Jahncke, WSJ Sept. 29th – page A17, Opinion]. Use ‘doom_loop’ as a search term.
In Josh’s cartoon, instead of people one could use the national flags of countries. Think of the leaders sitting in a circle saying, “I don’t have any money, can I have some of yours?”
Uh, your information is dated.
THE CURRENT U.S. NATIONAL DEBT: $31,148,886,822,497 on 10-12-2022.
I like your conceptual change on Josh’s cartoon.

Debt debt debt
It’s very difficult to keep up with that, since Biden is ‘working’ day and night in his efforts to completely bankrupt the USA! AT the rate he is going it won’t be much longer now!
We are already broke. The Slo Joe Biden maladministration is just adding to our debt. I feel sorry for the next few generations who will have to pay for this.
If I wanted to take out a loan, I’d need to have collateral or someone to sign for it.
What does a nation offer for collateral?
It’s the good faith and credit of the country’s government, and by inference, it’s taxpayers.
Is there any good faith or good credit of any african country? South Africa used to have it but now that it is run by a racist cartel, even that is gone.
Minions.
The ability to rob the governed.
Since the government HAS no money of it’s own they have to resort to printing fiat money! That ojnly works for so long, until the taxpayers realize that it is THEY who must provide the ‘faith and good credit’!
Isn’t there a prince in Nigeria who has an inheritance of $55 million or so, but it’s held up in probate or something, but he can get it out if only he has a western country bank account to put it into
He’ll split the proceeds with anyone who will send him their bank account details. Or so he said in his unsolicited email to me.
Why doesn’t Mr. Akufo-Addo contact the Prince and get a big share of his $55m ?
Said the exact same thing above. Should have scrolled down a little farther!
GMTA!
I got one of those email. I’m now debt free! (Except for the usual monthly bills which I pay off each month.)
PS I deleted the email. Looks like Brandon didn’t.
Obviously, Brandon needs to put Hillary in charge of deleting any pesky emails that he receives.
“Not fair”. ???
Cry me a f-n river! Go ask Gore, Kerry, Obamao, Griff as well the rest of those elitist bums for your handout.
Yup the assholes that lied to these people and told them that life was fair can pony up. The rest of us know the truth.
And let THEM pay it from their PERSONAL “treasure.”
Did Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo travel to Europe via a sailship to beg for money?
Maybe he bought carbon credits to offset his additions to CO2.
He could have walked – over the Sahara, up the Middle East, over the Bosphorus Bridge and on into France.
Only take about 6 months, supposing he dodged all the wars and bandits.
They can hold down the cost of COP27 by holding all the meetings in eastern Ukraine where reality is currently in play.
“”It is a lot, of course, but it is derisory””
Jog on… we’re skint
I wish people spoke English. 🙂
That is pukka english.
I wonder what happened to the £55million raised by Band-Aid in 1984.
Pretty sure the starving saw very little of the money.
Over 20% of the money raised went directly on guns for Ethiopian warlords, the rest was spent on food for the armies fighting in Ethiopia and, possibly, a small amount did find its way to a few starving families. Geldof was furious that the story was run but the truth is he didn’t have a clue nor any patience to vet the requests – he just threw the money at someone in the region to get it done and got played.
Geldof wasn’t upset that the money was essentially stolen. Instead he’s upset that people found out about it.
He was pretty furious because it made him look bad and tarnished his saintly image!
Wasn’t that a proposal by Lady Bird to President Johnson, for legislative relief for out-of-work musicians? You know………………Band Aid, by Johnson and Johnson.
$55million bound for Swiss Banks.
African countries don’t need help adapting to climate change, however they will need a lot of help surviving the dictates of western liberals hell bent on preventing them from acquiring the low cost electricity that has been the cornerstone of every successful nation on earth.
Craig,
Africa is huge with generally a very favourable climate and considerable natural resources. I would be quite happy for a straight swap – crowded Europe with its miserable weather and much shorter growing season for Africa. Africa should be producing enough to feed the whole world including its own people. The huge untapped gas reserves could easily enable Africa to produce electricity with the least polluting and lowest CO2 of the fossil fuels. This would be a small fraction of the cost of renewables and far more dependible.
A lion in every pot.
A “missionary” from the UN in evey pot.
And every pot made in Falkirk.
To paraphrase James Cole from 12 Monkeys: It’s not about adapting, it’s about following orders, it’s about doing what you’re told.
The climate scam isn’t even about climate, it could have been about anything. But CO2 emissions proved to be a weapon that could wielded against Western countries quite effectively. It’s fundamentally about power and control as a small group of Neo-Marxist aim to plunge the world into a Technocratic authoritarian dystopia.
“To paraphrase James Cole from 12 Monkeys”
Awesome film!
Watch it now and for some obscure reason you can’t help but remember COVID.
Rarely do we skeptics receive such welcome good news! Maybe they will need to cancel that “conference”!
They won’t cancel the party. It’s the ultimate echo chamber of ‘right thinking’ useless idiots, toadies and professional hangers-on. They’ll find some way of keeping the good times rolling no matter what.
OPM is finite, even if you own the printing press.
They spent that $55 billion on themselves, thereby sparing Africans the ignominy of reliable power.
So the Green Climate Fund has collected $10.1 BILLION dollars as of 12/31/20.
They had approved projects for $7.9 billion which includes “preparatory support” and “project fees” of $600 million. They say they already dispersed $1.7 billion of that $7.9 billion.
See 2019 and 2020 audited statements: https://www.greenclimate.fund/document/gcf-audited-financial-statements-years-ending-december-31-2020-and-2019
But the audited statements make it impossible to tell who was actually paid that $1.7 billion.
Can you imagine the money flowing into hidden accounts and who is getting paid out of them?
Go to section 14 … Staff cost to run the entity $40M per year plus $12M in contractors plus $8M in supplies plus $1M in travel 🙂
The green gravy train is in full flight.
The near future:
(against constipation, very old publicity)
Pictures of our Green future without a future.
(Do you own a DeLorean?)
(Do you own a DeLorean?)
One ??? 😀 😀 What an idea !? 😀
Note the horse droppings lining the street.
Could use that for heating and lighting, ha ha…
Number one I wouldn’t give money to any of them. I would take the 55 million some westerners are so eager to give away and have experts in the various field find oil, gas and coal. Once found set up mining or drilling operations. Once we have the raw material from the mining and drilling we could establish oil and gas distilleries. Then power generating facilities and transmission lines. Yes I realize 55 million wouldn’t cover all of this but it would be a good start and they could sell raw materials to pay for the needed facilities. Most important we tell these people we are not going to give you money so forget about that. We are here to get you started down the right path so don’t blow this, we will also do our best not to blow it.
All these countries in Africa have more coal deposits than the UK. UK coal deposits are the 61st largest in the world. Figure after each country name is their ranking
South Africa (8th), Zimbabwe (38th), Nigeria (44th), Tanzania (50th), Botswana (59th), Zambia (64th), DR Congo (60th).
Source Coal in Africa, Reserves 2016, Worldometer
I have 2 words for the planners of the next COP conference and President Nana Akufo-Addo: Zoom
Why does a country give money to the UN for any purpose when they refuse to give a full accounting of what they do with it? The UN even has their own army and they’re not even a nation/state. The UN has successfully buffaloed the world into playing by its’ rules or it will blackmail them on the world stage and they know no one will do anything about it because of the repercussions. Nothing changed but the name when they disbanded the League of Nations and renamed it the United Nations. The UN needs to manage its’ charter instead of playing world governor.
Never has so much been spent on so many to produce so little for so few.
Where can one examine the green climate fund accounts? In Seoul? I know the CEO gets seven figures
A word of advice.
If you want to donate to any cause or charity, don’t donate to any group or cause that goes through any Government entity, the US, the UN or the African nation your concerned about. And don’t donate to any Organization that is a group of charities such as The United Way. Some of your money may go to a cause you don’t support.
Pick out the one you like and do a bit of research to be sure most of your donation doesn’t go to “administrative cost” but to those you want to help.
Most of us would do well to look for needy folks among our own families, communities, friends. Charity begins a home and it’s in dire straights right now. Let those in other screwed up countries deal with their own sh!t.
These COP conferences accomplish so little that there’s no more justification for holding them in the first place. Since the first one in 1995, global temperatures and fossil fuel emissions have kept on rising; in fact, the IEA’s own numbers show that last year fossil fuels generated 82% of the world’s primary energy supply, so why haven’t wind and solar, with all their subsidies, been catching up? As for these developing countries, too many have long histories of corrupt and dysfunctional governments, so throwing money at them to supposedly fight climate change is likely to prove a bad investment. The ultimate irony is that the 30,000-plus COP attendees to a man will identify aircraft emissions as the most damaging of all; yet none of them is hesitating to fly to Egypt for the event, usually at taxpayers’ expense to boot.
I advise president Nana to look for the money closer to home, to King Joffe Jaffer of Zamunda. Just in case you think I am taking the Mickey: the essence of the climate change farce is being taken for a ride.
Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo is living in the lap of luxury, something most Europeans can only dream of. He has grown up with the kind of privilege few of his age have experienced. I hope no money goes to his country because I fear much of it will simply enrich a small green clique and himself and not help develop the huge natural resources of his country.
Of course we should send more $$s. What could go wrong?
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Political corruption in Ghana has been common since independence. Since 2006, Ghana‘s score and ranking on the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index has improved slightly, ranked higher than Italy and Brazil.[1] However, there is a growing perception in Ghana that government-related corruption is on the rise.[1] Ghana ranked 73rd on the Corruption Perceptions Index in 2021, tied with Hungary, Kuwait, Senegal and the Solomon Islands.[2] Even though corruption in Ghana is relatively low when compared to other countries in Africa, businesses frequently quote corruption as an obstacle for doing business in the country. Corruption occurs often in locally funded contracts, companies are subject to bribes when operating in rural areas.[3]
Thanks to those CO2 emissions, the crops in his country are growing bigger and healthier.
He should be paying us.
Afrikkan corruption makes U.S. Demonunists look like tightfisted misers. As Lincoln said of one of his cabinet members, the only thing they wouldn’t steal is a red-hot stove.
hahahahah ,,,,, you get what you deserve.
How long isn’t Chinese. It’s the question we should all be asking about the attention paid to the climatastrophe hoax.
Boy, oh boy, the Demmunists sure know how to make conservative pundits take their eye off the ball. AGW is a hoax; Covid pandemic .. hoax; Ukraine war, cynical anti-Russia fear-mongering by WEF; “gender” issues = destruction of individual morals and self-worth; and .. the list is as long as the evening news headlines. Everything TUGLI (The Usual Gang of Lying Idiots) throws out there is chaff designed to keep us blind to the take-over intended – and almost a fait accompli – by billionaire puppet masters. There is no way to vote your way out of this as long as all of the left’s gambits are not named for what they are – distractions intended to confuse.
As to Gore-bull warming, wake me when the seas rise.
No country on earth has broken the strong link between wealth and CO2 emissions.
If the mark is dumb enough to believe the con, why should the con-man be upset with the swindle?
Africa got took. Complain all you want. The UN can’t deliver the promised funds.
99% of any money sent to Africa will boomerang into Swiss, Cayman, etc. bank accounts
When will these morons realize Climate Change is a hoax? They’ll probably get even more delusional about their new religion – that’s how religions behave.
It’s like throwing your money out of a window on a windy day. And hoping some of it blows back in.
Yeah, when the wind is blowing AWAY from the window…
Gotta be, or at least close to, the all-time greatest collection of grifters.
Operators of pyramid scams never want to pay our large funds. It is when scams have to start paying out large amounts of money that such scams disintegrate.
Graft.
Eric,
It gets quite confusing as to what account the unpaid money mentioned here belongs.
As I understand it there are three compartments, so to speak-
(1) The Green Fund of $100 billion annually to be paid pursuant to the Paris Accord.
(2) “Loss and Damage” monies to be paid by Annex 1 Developed countries (28 in all) to Developing Countries (some 165 countries at last count).
Here,Pakistan has asked for $400 billion annually but China/ India has upped the ante to $1 trillion annually, reportedly.
(3) A rather amorphous claim for “ Climate Reparations” again to be paid by Developed Countries for the “historical injustice” occasioned by the Industrial Revolution.
Whether (3) merges with (2) I am uncertain, but I suspect not.
Under (1), the US under Biden has promised some $15 billion annually at Glasgow, the EU has ‘committed’ some $23 billion Euros, and some chump change has been promised by the UK,Canada,Australia,New Zealand and a handful of others.
The $55 million here must come under (2) I assume.
I can hardly wait for the “mud wrestling” over promised but unpaid funding at the forthcoming COP 27 at Cairo.
The word is Adaptation, and not “Adaption” (sic).
Who are the idiots pledging $55 million to flush down the toilet?! It should be ZERO.
THERE IS NO ‘CLIMATE CRISIS,’ aside from the very real crisis that will result if the idiots who think there IS a “climate crisis” implementing their worse-than-useless non-solutions.
Climate change is not man made.
There is no such thing as global warming. This is about control and money.
Wait a minute…doesn’t the Presidents of Ghana go by the nickname Rhea?
I heard he does.
Perhaps a little Amoxicillin for his illness will fix his tertiary condition and his mental status will return.
Climate change is the last thing Africa should be concerned about. They should be working on doing something about ruthless dictators that murder their subjects, genocide, islamist militias who kidnap and murder countless people, food shortages, infrastructure, pollution and the fact that China is taking over Africa and stealing all of the natural resources.
I agree – more than $1M each for countries to waste not doing anything about a mythical crisis is not fair.
It’s like the way I do 1 million pushups…. 1, 2, 3, 1 million.
Really. Would I lie to you?
