Climatologists Embarrassed: Increase in Global CO2 Levels Accompanied by Arctic Sea Ice Growth!

Reposted from the NoTricksZone

By P Gosselin

Today we look at the polar ice caps, which the global warming wingnuts claim is the canary in the coal mine and predicted earlier they’d melt and collapse. For example, Al Gore warned the Arctic ice would disappear by 2014.

While CO2 has gone up, Arctic sea ice has RISEN over past decade

But we have a big surprise. First we examine the Arctic sea ice extent so far this summer. Has it melted away like Al Gore said it would?

Source: Vishop Artic Sea Ice Extent

To the contrary, the latest data show Arctic sea ice is still very much present and is currently running above the average of the last decade. Our friend Snowfan here reports:

The Vishop plot shows the Arctic sea ice areas (extent/extension, red line) on 2 July 2022 is larger than in some previous years and above the last 10-year average (dark blue dashed line): There is nothing more with the ridiculous ice-melt  fantasies of the two climate lying barons John Kerry and Al Gore, who predicted in 2009 a summer ice-free Arctic in the year 2014, if the global greenhouse emissions would not be drastically reduced.

The CO2 content of the Earth’s global atmosphere has steadily increased from about 380 ppm in 2009 to more than 420 ppm annually by 2022, leading to the further greening of the Earth. The increase in global CO2 levels in the Earth’s atmosphere has been accompanied by growth in Arctic sea ice areas and strong growth in Greenland ice masses this year.”

What an embarrassing development for Al Gore and the tight circle of consensus scientists.

Antarctica continues long-term upward sea ice trend

Looking at Antarctica sea ice, we also see a zero-crisis trend when plotting the data from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA):

The annual mean for Antarctica has risen modestly since satellite measurement began in 1979. There is no polar ice melt crisis at this time. This is humiliating for the climate loonies.

“polar ice caps” – no.
Antarctica has a polar ice cap.
The land masses surrounding the Arctic Ocean have ice caps – Greenland (really an archipelago), Ellesmere Is, Novaya Zemlya, etc.
The Arctic Ocean is covered by an ice pack (frozen seawater).

Al Gore and John Kerry have no background for critiquing any climate studies in any way. They are average to mediocre mid-level politicians.

Al Gore’s Highly Overhiped long ago “climate science”production has no new or useful information when studying the climate.

It’s unfortunate that both are fairly well-connected politicos

average to mediocre mid-level crooks

A slight correction to where their skills are really applied.

Kristine LarsonProfessor 1990-2018, Professor Emerita, 2018-
Dept. Aerospace Engineering Sciences
University of Colorado

In this talk she discusses how in working to convert a system designed to measure slow tectonic speeds into a seismometer, she found herself spending most of her time trying to model the effects of reflected GPS signals so they wouldn’t contaminate GPS seismic records. However, intrinsically these reflections provide information about the surface beneath the GPS antenna (i.e. how much snow there is, whether the soil is wet or dry). In this talk, Professor Larson summarizes the “traditional” applications of GPS in geo-sciences as well as the new environmental applications her group has developed.

Her discussion of Greenland and Antarctica snow surface monitoring with GPS starts at 39min-15sec. I think this should be of extreme interest to the group on this thread, as well as many others.

By the way, her entire talk is very interesting!

It’s just transitory. Give them a chance to “improve” the data and show ice is really disappearing.

Factual and elegantly worded!
I love it!

When a WW2-era plane that crashed on Greenland in the 1940’s was discovered in recent years under 300 feet of ice I stopped worrying about Greenland’s surface ice mass balance. But I’m not a scientist.

Here’s what to do if you’re a scientist.
Go to the plane in Greenland on taxpayers expense.
Enter your observations into a computer model.
Say loudly “it’s worse than we thought!”
Make energy prices higher and Vladimir Putin richer.

O yes the Arctic and Antarctic are still melting!
O yes Ukraine are winning their war!
O yes net zero will make everything cheaper and better!
O yes Joe Biden is a spring chicken!

Had a great time hiking near some of Norway’s largest glaciers.

https://www.fjords.com/briksdalsbreen-glacier/

Of course, they had the inevitable “its melting, its melting” signs, but the best one was where they had to admit that, in the past…there was not glacier there at all.

However, when I quizzed my travelling companions…none remembers reading that part at all.

You lie. Climatologists are never embarrassed. You’d have to have integrity for that. Click bait /s

Apparently , you never took the AMO cycle in consideration but which plays a major role in Earth climate …..

I was so hopeful Siberia and Yukon would become toasty warm!
