International Socialists Accuse Greta Thunberg of Supporting the Establishment

Essay by Eric Worrall

Evidence is emerging of fractures in the remnant of the climate school strike movement Greta Thunberg once led.

The fight for a future free of climate change and war is the fight for world socialism!

International Youth and Students for Social Equality (Australia)
5 May 2022

This week and next, students and youth around Australia are participating in protests opposing government inaction on climate change and the degradation of the environment.

But we warn that the organisers of the events, School Strike 4 Climate (SS4C), are seeking to derail mass opposition and funnel it back behind the very political parties responsible for the environmental crisis. Any suggestion that the upcoming federal election on May 21 will help to resolve climate change, or any other substantive issue facing youth and workers, is a complete lie.

Actions planned this month by the SS4C are deliberately narrow in focus. In the past, rallies—which were attended by hundreds of thousands nationally—were part of global climate strikes involving millions of youth. This time, events planned are small and isolated as a deliberate attempt to smother increasingly radicalised young people.

Many of the SS4C events are specifically advertised as “election climate strikes” with regional centres and cities not even organising events. A number of the actions are not even strikes.

Greta Thunberg is barely newsworthy these days, but I hope some of you find the final collapse of her movement interesting.

The International Socialists are a bit of a remnant themselves. I doubt the International Socialists could muster more than a hundred or so mostly ageing “students” to a rally, at least in Australia. The day of their brand of anarchic socialism is pretty much done, angry young people have flocked to more interesting brands like Antifa or Extinction Rebellion.

And the idea of a Greta school strike outside major cities and a few big regional centres is laughable. Left wing support for higher fuel prices in the name of climate action does not play well in most of rural Australia. Our vast distances make the push for electrified transport and high gasoline prices a painful experience for most rural people.

Maybe at the height of Greta’s movement, before fuel prices rose, before she turned 18, she could have mustered a few followers in rural Australia.

What I find interesting about this statement by the International Socialists is confirmation that Greta’s brand, her once impressive global climate school strike movement, seems to have fallen so far that her fellow travellers have no hesitation trying to put her down to make themselves look better. Not that it will do the socialists any good.

In two weeks Australians vote in a federal election. Greta Thunberg and her school strike movement have pretty much disappeared from the news in Australia, along with the fake climate crisis. A few inner city conservatives are panicking over a challenge from people who claim to be green independents, but few people outside the inner city latte set care about the “crisis of our time”.

There is an immense cloud of apathy hanging over the upcoming Aussie Federal election, none of the mainstream candidates are inspiring. Cost of living is a big concern, but nobody seems to be offering convincing solutions. The election is shaping up to a choice between the incumbent, who promises more of the same, and the challenger, whose lack of preparation and inability to remember anything about the economy he will be expected to manage has become a key election issue. The parts of the Aussie federal election campaign I have bothered to watch rarely mention climate change.

The parts of the Aussie federal election campaign I have bothered to watch rarely mention climate change” The last election is 2019 was called the climate change election and was billed as unlosable for the lefties. The conservatives got in because the voters had not swallowed all the climate change propaganda espoused by the left. Last year the conservative prime minister forgot about his supporters and opted for net zero by 2050. Now the lefties won’t mention climate change because they think it will cost them votes and the conservatives will not mention climate change because it will remind their previous supporters that they can’t be trusted.

The election appears to be a choice about which Party offers the least worst fiscal debt burden for the grandkiddies. You’d expect any devout Muslim would be staying indoors and abstaining from voting with all the pork flying around. With the first interest rate rise in 12 years and inflation looking ugly it appears the incumbents are doomed.

Hopefully that means Labor can govern in their own right as having to rely on a partnership with the Greens augurs even less well for the grandkiddies-
Greens propose living wage for artists (msn.com)

The climate change mantra will continue to be espoused more proudly so long as it doesn’t cost anyone. Which really means directly and obviously with a hit to the hip pocket while the Green blob mines subsidies and makes hay in the background. Just takes a bit longer to filter through to the hip pocket.

One thing the Coalition have learned is don’t leave the usual suspects a juicy fat surplus and Covid largesse has largely seen to that. Labor face horrid inflation to inflate away all that helicopter money washing through the system and with the rundown and demise of coal fired power plants the true test of all the net zero BS and cheap renewables. The inner city latte set are about to get a hard 3 year lesson in energy and economics.

The worry I have about this natural decay of climate stupidity, is what will replace the alarmists imaginary crisis? The declining hype/support for Climate Alarmism will leave a political vacuum.
What will they come up with next?
The socialists have to elevate or ‘big up’ some threat or other to justify their bizarre fixation with collectivism and their need to bear down/eliminate an individual’s choice, and remove our free will.
They came close to uniting/collectivising the world onto their totalitarian trail, via a fairly mundane virus, which they managed to elevate into public enemy number one.
The lasting impact of that political flight of fancy still persists, despite the real facts showing the virus threat was over hyped, as usual.
What will the democracy destroyers or socialists as they prefer to call themselves come up with next?
If I was a farmer I would be worried about the bizarre anti meat eating movement that is being advanced by the totalitarians/socialists groups, worldwide.
No doubt, when they have destroyed our ability to afford energy their focus on our ability to buy protein will be their next go to lever. The need to destroy the civilised ‘demand’ society and replace it with instructed conformity, mandated by the ‘command’ economic philosophy of socialism, makes a new crisis inevitable.
Stay alert.

Farmers are too worried about the increasing costs of fuel, seed, and fertilizer and what the impact of those costs will have on grain and then 2023 seed costs. The herders are just going to have to hang on and hope they don’t end up selling everything just to cover the interest payments.

There will be no political vacuum without them – they were always a fringe group that managed to get some support in the mainstream – when that goes away, they will return to being another fringe group with 2 or 3 protesters screaming and waving placards in the distance behind whatever news item happens to be going on.

She may yet do that. Apparently she got 14 A grade and 3 B grade school certificates and has gone back to school to study for advanced certificates. By all accounts she could have been an above average student if she hadn’t been infected by climate activism. Perhaps time, education and being sidelined by the green blob will help her mature into a functioning adult.

It’s been my observation that most government departments are tasked with some “action on climate change”. The issue is that no government can control the weather or climate.

These past two years have exposed the socialist hypocrisy, as they sided with the multi-trillion dollar pharmaceutical corporations and abandoned the working class.

While it may just be me, I find the very idea of students going on “strike” a ludicrous concept. Public schools are provided free for the benefit of the student. It is up to the students and to their parents whether they take advantage of the opportunity to get an education. If schooling is offered but they prefer to go on strike and not attend school I frankly could not care less. They only are hurting themselves. It’s like the little child screaming “I’ll hold my breath until I turn blue.”

Also, does anyone here know if Greta ever went back to school or whether she is a permanent drop out? Not that it matters to anyone but herself. Just curious.

It’s not clear if she ever was ‘on strike’. It was reported that she attended a special school which had flexible attendance. Which would have conveniently given her the time to turn up each Friday (or whatever it was) with her silly placard. Assuming it’s still there, there’s a video on YouTube of the reporter asking her about this and not getting an answer.

The Left eat their own because the core of being ‘Left’ is that there is a correct answer to everything that is wrong. There is a solution and if only everyone agreed with you (or your group) and agreed to embrace this solution then things would be good.

The ‘narrative’ is the true guiding force. It makes sense. It works. And if only those Evil Conservatives would stop being selfish by holding their own misguided personal selfish opinions that the world would be a better place.

This works in small groups.

The problem is as the groups get larger different personalities start to rise and the actual question of who is actually in charge come to a head. Remember Lefts know what is best and how to the world can be made better… if only THEY were in charge. So when you get two people who want to be in charge and BOTH of them know what is best…

Left on Left violence.

The strength of the Left is the collective hive mind, but also their failure.

The first thing that must strike any outside observer is that
Socialism, in its developed form is a theory confined entirely to the
middle classes. The typical Socialist is not, as tremulous old ladies
imagine, a ferocious-looking working man with greasy overalls and a raucous
voice. He is either a youthful snob-Bolshevik who in five years’ time will
quite probably have made a wealthy marriage and been converted to Roman
Catholicism; or, still more typically, a prim little man with a white-
collar job, usually a secret teetotaller and often with vegetarian
leanings, with a history of Nonconformity behind him, and, above all, with
a social position which he has no intention of forfeiting.

This last type is surprisingly common in Socialist parties of every shade; it has perhaps
been taken over en bloc from the old Liberal Party. In addition to this
there is the horrible–the really disquieting–prevalence of cranks
wherever Socialists are gathered together. One sometimes gets the
impression that the mere words ‘Socialism’ and ‘Communism’ draw towards
them with magnetic force every fruit-juice drinker, nudist, sandal-wearer,
sex-maniac, Quaker, ‘Nature Cure’ quack, pacifist, and feminist in England.
One day this summer I was riding through Letchworth when the bus stopped
and two dreadful-looking old men got on to it. They were both about sixty,
both very short, pink, and chubby, and both hatless. One of them was
obscenely bald, the other had long grey hair bobbed in the Lloyd George
style. They were dressed in pistachio-coloured shirts and khaki shorts into
which their huge bottoms were crammed so tightly that you could study every
dimple. Their appearance created a mild stir of horror on top of the bus.
The man next to me, a commercial traveller I should say, glanced at me, at
them, and back again at me, and murmured ‘Socialists’.
George Orwell, ‘The Road to Wigan Pier’ (1937)

May 8, 2022 5:46 pm

I have been impressed with the Liberal Democrats in Australia, not only as they are “pro freedom” but that they have invested the effort into a reasonably wide spread of policies, not just single issues or motherhood statements. On climate change they support “free market energy, no net zero emissions target and abolition of renewable energy target”. So I am in the habit of recommending voting for them if you care about pushing back against climate panic.

Fortunately Australia has preferential voting so a vote for a minor party can’t be wasted!

May 9, 2022 6:07 pm

There is an immense cloud of apathy hanging over the upcoming Aussie Federal election…

How is this possible? Scott Morrison has overseen conversion of Australia into a police state.

The state premiers have brought down the boot heel of police oppression in the name of mandates, masks, and vaccination (a laughable euphemism). Citizens have been beaten in the streets. In one case a directed energy weapon apparently was used on protesters in Canberra.

Scott Morrison has been silent.

Free movement has been forbidden within Australia. Enforced separation of families across state borders. People forbidden to return home. Concentration camps with thousands of political prisoners otherwise called anti-vaxxers.

Australians should be out in the streets. Party leaders, premiers, mayors and police chiefs should be being chased from the streets. The sociopathic meatheads who run the national and state governments should be tossed out, never to be respected again.

Where are the furious Australians?
