As I predicted, climate change has been blamed for the recent New England blizzard (e.g. from Bloomberg here). During that storm, Boston tied its 24-hr snowfall record at 23.6 inches.
Yet, as recently as January 6, we were told by USAToday that Boston’s lengthy 316-day streak *without* one inch of snowfall as of January 1st was caused by global warming.
So, which is it? Global warming causes less snow, or more snow?
When science produces contradictory claims, is it really science?
What’s coming up next is a snow and ice storm that will stretch all the way from the southern Rockies to northern New England. Here are NAM model forecast totals of snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain (respectively) from Tuesday evening through Thursday evening. All of the forecast models I follow (ECMWF, GFS, NAM, and Canadian) are in general agreement, with some variation in the north-south positioning:

Not shown is the westward extension of this into NW Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico. Also not shown is the eastward spreading of this mess into northern New England through Friday.
If anything like this forecast verifies, it’s going to cause huge disruptions.
So, which is it? Global warming causes less snow, or more snow? – article
It’s both!!! It’s going to be a MONSOON of snow….. or something like that. I do kind of hope that the map showing the storm tracking up to my AO is the storm track which will happen. We did not get enough rain last spring into summer and fall, and the snow so far has been disappointing. It doesn’t just melt into the ground: it also feeds the waterways and lakes and ponds around here, which is very important to people who like to fish… and I saw plenty of people out on the ice at one of the bigger local lakes last week, counted 7 colorful ice fishing hutches and saw kids out on the ice with their parents.
At some point, this constant refrain of buffoonery may come to an end and they will find a new whine to use, but for now, well — just smile and nod, dear.
It will be massive amounts of ice rain, including in Texas.

You don’t get it, it’s real simple.
Climate change is making the climate change.
That’s why it’s called climate change.
Because it makes the the climate change.
Climate’s not going to change itself.
You gotta have climate change if you want the climate to change.
But we dont want climate to change.
So to change the climate from changing we gotta change climate change so that climate changes from climate change to a climate that don’t change no more.
That’s when the earth is inside a red giant sun.
Here’s your change.
The stratospheric ozone indicates a circulation for 04/02/2022 at jet stream level (200 hPa).
And that means …?
A very strong cold front that will bring strong convection and strong winds. Freezing rain will be combined with thunderstorms. Tornadoes may occur.
Frigid air will descend to the surface and warm air with water vapor will rise.
Ireneusz, thank you for the near-term weather forecast. I’ve been assured by CliSciFi that it is caused by increases in atmospheric CO2 concentrations since 1950.
This is a prediction for April 2, 2022?
Sorry.
That’s the forecast for Feb. 4-5.
The globalist-global warming-climate change-catastrophic anthropogenic climate change theory explains everything, and proves nothing.
I think it is going to be a long week for this trucker and a bunch of others. But unlike most, I’m on salary, so it all pays the same.
I just so happen to be picking up at a place out by the Huntsville airport right now and am in warmer weather than I’ve been in for a couple of weeks. But this load goes back to Indiana.
Be Safe, and Thanks. Is the fact that you are “on salary” determines whether you are in the “Convoy” or not?
The fact that I am a company driver and do not own the truck I drive.
And the fact that if every trucker and trucking company stopped hauling freight the whole supply chain would collapse. People would start to suffer and even die from lack of medication and medical supplies, starvation, and some from lack of fuel oil or propane to heat their homes. The supply at retailers of all types would dry up quickly, including fuel for the trucks themselves.
I don’t think we want that.
I don’t think we want that.
Probably not, but I suspect it’s the only thing that would get anyone’s attention.
Every year about this time, they drag ol’ Al Gore out of whatever cave he’s holed up in, and if he sees his internet, it’s at least another 6 years of global warming.
Way back in the 1990’s I was concerned about the effect of increasing CO2 and global warming. But then I read an article somewhere saying that climate scientists had determined that the CO2 global warming effect was likely to trigger a new ice age (i.e. glaciation). That got me to start researching the subject more carefully and I soon became a skeptic. I’ll admit that I thought the problem was primarily just weak or incompetent application of the scientific method.
When the Climategate scandal broke I realized it was far worse than mere incompetence. Climate Change has become a stalking horse for the pursuit of global governance and implementation of global socialism under the control of elites. This has been the goal since Maurice Strong created the UN Environmental Programme and it’s been heavily supported by organization of the super rich elites such as The Club of Rome, The World Economic Forum, The Rockefeller Foundation and the Bilderberg Group. Oh, and a good part of the US Democrat Party and Biden administration. That is why many of the proposed radical solutions to climate change include large portions of unrelated socialistic programs – e.g. financial compensation to IBPOC groups perceived to be most negatively affected by supposed climate change.
There can be no doubt that many of the leaders of the decarbonization (aka – deindustrialization) push know perfectly well that the effects of increased CO2 on climate is not significant and that reductions in emissions will likely have no demonstrable benefit. But since their agenda is global governance and not protecting the masses from bad weather, they will keep pushing until they win or are exposed the scoundrels they are. My fear is that they will succeed enough to bring about the collapse of our energy infrastructure and trigger massive loss of life and societal break down. My hope is that the ongoing attempts to replace reliable energy generation with unreliables will create enough serious problems to demonstrate the stupidity of the effort while there is still time to reverse course. Perhaps the populous will simply get fed up with ever increasing energy cost and vote anyone espousing climate alarmist views out of office.
“My fear is that they will succeed enough to bring about the collapse of our energy infrastructure and trigger massive loss of life and societal break down.” Happening already.
Like quantum mechanics, our mere observation has perturbed the system. So it IS science after all.
“So, which is it? Global warming causes less snow, or more snow?”
That depends on who is asking the question and who they ask of course.
People could be forgiven for being very confused about climate hoaxer answers as compared to reality.
Climate change, climate change, it is no longer “global warming”. And which is it, more snow or less snow? It is whatever is bad. Climate change makes every thing worse, and nothing better. That’s why Climate change, which has always happened, is now such a crisis, because the CO2 has made everything worse than before, even worse than when there was much more CO2, which hardly anyone even knows about.
Around 2012 the UK Met Office issued a media release just before Christmas Day admitting to a new cooling underway, I laughed when I read the footnote that after the cool period global warming would recommence.
Surprise, surprise, that must be what happened when the Little Ice Age ended – sarc.

Weather forecasters all over it here in Tejas … expecting ice storm in the Metroplex come Wednesday afternoon on …
Meanwhile Down Under the watermelons face another delicate conundrum with mandates for the masses with their capitalist landlord oppressors-
‘My apartment is literally baking’: calls for minimum standards to keep Australia’s rental homes cool (msn.com)
As if RE and rental prices in our capital cities aren’t high enough you might think.
Either that or Melbourne has to paint their rooves a light colour as like Sydney that could lower the city temp by 2.4C according to the uni types and they wouldn’t have to worry about that 1.5C warmening for a while. Decisions…decisions… always more damn decisions! Life wasn’t meant to be breezy as a lefty when you take on changing global climates it seems.
Any departure from average is an unusual or extreme weather event caused by climate change. And until CO2 levels return to preindustrial levels for a few decades, it will be assumed that human activity made it worse.
When something is noted as “peer reviewed”, does that mean that a bunch of peeping Toms have read it?
Obviously, Global Warming saves up the snow, then dumps it somewhere all at once.
“In this case, meteorologists will have to watch the behavior of the double-barreled storm closely. If the first storm becomes a bit stronger than anticipated at this time, it could pull colder air farther to the south and east in the region just past midweek.
Such a southeastward shift in the storm’s track could deposit more cold air in its wake, and the second storm currently projected to extend rainfall for another 24 hours could instead trigger accumulating snow from Thursday to Thursday night and early Friday in part of the zone from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to New York City and Boston.
Just south of this zone, at roughly the same time, such a scenario could lead to ice in northern Virginia, and Maryland to New Jersey, Long Island, New York, and southern New England.”
Tomorrow’s solar wind impact on Earth’s magnetosphere could increase the energy of the tropopause jet stream.
It’s like Ground-Hog Day all over again…
It’s like Ground-Hog Day all over again…
It’s like Ground-Hog Day all over again…
Without mentioning names. Perhaps the grand wizards of climate change, that declared that there would be “no more snow”, should be the ones sued, for fraud. Just as they are currently filing suits against “deniers, sceptics.”
When science produces contradictory claims, is it really science?
Has anyone ever stated clearly exactly WHAT criteria would falsify the climate change hypothesis? (Without later changing that criteria when it was met)
The Arctic front is now reaching Nebraska.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) I depart the yard at 04:00 for a 3 stop milk run in Chicago. First stop Skokie and last in Elk Horn and then come back to Anderson, IN.
IF I can make it up and back I will be doing that run Thursday and Friday also.
Big trucks with good tires generally do much better in deep snow than most 2 WD four-wheelers. Those big tires make a big difference. I suspect that if I don’t make it, it will be because of backups due to accidents or they shut I-65 down.
There may be ice under the snow as temperatures on the east side of the front are above 0 C.
Thanks but according to the forecast I’m looking at the freezing rain starts down here where I am near Anderson, IN and goes south from there.
Hopefully I will drive out of the area with ice as I go north on I-65. But what happens, happens and one only knows for sure when it happens when your close to the freeze line.
Here right now, it’s sunny and 50 deg. F. That wedge of heavier cold air driving the warmer air in front and over. One can feel it coming.
Wet snow will begin falling overnight in Chicago.
in the blue models, laws only apply to Republicans
even laws of physics
thus we will seize the guns of the law abiding with great fanfare and quietly not prosecute criminals, just as the same raindrop must be good or bad depending on whether it fall on the head of denialist or activist
It’s Weird Science Part 2
Climate change now causes water to freeze at +3°C – FACT!
