Leonardo DiCaprio warns: ‘We literally have a nine year window’ to stop climate change – ‘There’s a ticking clock’

From Climate Depot

DiCaprio: “I have a foundation for 20 years. I have to go to Glasgow. I got to see world leaders make some pretty big commitments, but just like in this movie, there’s a ticking clock. I think there is a global sense of anxiety that the powers that be, the private sector, the governments, are not making the transition fast enough. We literally have a nine year window.” … “Our governments, the governments of the world, must work together as a community species and we must evolve as a species to address this problem.”

Flashback: Earth ‘serially doomed’: The official history of climate ‘Tipping Points’ began in 1864 – A new ‘global warming’ 12-year deadline from Rep. Ocasio-Cortez

Excerpt:

In an interview with dead line, DiCaprio spoke about his career as an actor and environmental activist, since many already know that one of his great concerns is the future of the planet, as he announced in his Oscar acceptance speech in 2016, after winning in the category Best Actor for Revenant.

DiCaprio: “I have had two great passions in my life. That has been taking action, and protecting the natural world and spreading the message about the climate crisis. I have a foundation for 20 years. I have to go to Glasgow. I got to see world leaders make some pretty big commitments, but just like in this movie, there’s a ticking clock. I think there is a global sense of anxiety that the powers that be, the private sector, the governments, are not making the transition fast enough. We literally have a nine year window.”

“And there was also, you know, a period of time where people and consumers were forced to recycle and buy hybrid cars and make changes in their own lives, which is incredibly important. But when you really start to break this down, there are 100 companies that produce 70 percent of the world’s emissions. There are massive industries that are polluting our atmosphere, and the private sector needs to step up. Our governments, the governments of the world, must work together as a community species and we must evolve as a species to address this problem.”

Earth ‘serially doomed’: The official history of climate ‘Tipping Points’ began in 1864 – A new ‘global warming’ 12-year deadline from Rep. Ocasio-Cortez

Climate Tipping Points date back to at least 1864

“As early as 1864 George Perkins Marsh, sometimes said to be the father of American ecology, warned that the earth was ‘fast becoming an unfit home for its “noblest inhabitant,”’ and that unless men changed their ways it would be reduced ‘to such a condition of impoverished productiveness, of shattered surface, of climatic excess, as to threaten the depravation, barbarism, and perhaps even extinction of the species.’” —MIT professor Leo Marx

Earth “Serially Doomed”
Perhaps the best summary of the tipping-point phenomenon comes from UK scientist Philip Stott. “In essence, the Earth has been given a 10-year survival warning regularly for the last fifty or so years. We have been serially doomed,” Stott explained. “Our post-modern period of climate change angst can probably be traced back to the late-1960s, if not earlier. By 1973, and the ‘global cooling’ scare, it was in full swing, with predictions of the imminent collapse of the world within ten to twenty years, exacerbated by the impacts of a nuclear winter.”

For once I’d like to hear from one of these silly goons exactly what action they imagine being specifically done by government and private businesses that would then avert the 9 year calamity. Or truly do anything at all about climate, weather, fires or floods.

“Addressing” or “fighting” climate change is a fools errand if there is no plan of action that adds up to impacting.

So what if you address or fight? If your action (crusade) doesn’t alter anything it doesn’t count as doing anything about the climate at all. No matter how lofty the intention or desire.

DiCaprio’s call for action is stale stuff. Devoid of anything meaningful while pretending to be filling the fantasy of doing nothing is not an option.

As with anything, having some policy or program that is supposed to promote or encourage other behaviors has no value if there is no altered behavior attained.

If any action can be shown to be useless then doing nothing is certainly an option.

Ya don’t just do stuff cuz it makes you feel like you did something.

Politicians do it all the time. They must be seen to be doing something. Otherwise, why pay them?

“And there was also, you know, a period of time where people and consumers were forced to recycle and buy hybrid cars”.

When were people forced to recycle or buy hybrid cars?

So his understanding of history is just as good as his understanding of the climate?

DiCaprio, a high school dropout, pretending(cuz that is what he gets paid big bucks to do) to be a “climate change” expert. Yeah. Right. Just like Dr. Fauxi pretending to be a real doctor when he is really nothing more than a propagandist, cuz it pays him well.
Tired of the faux climate, covid, et al movements(sorta like bowels) declaring everything is a crisis and more taxpayer money is needed to combat it. Or something.
The climate predictions have not be correct in the last 60 years that I know of. I’m 80 y.o. and have lived through most of ’em. Still here and waiting for the predicted “ice age” from decades ago to happen.

As with other such last chance deadlines, it will be ignored and forgotten as new last chance deadlines are announced every year.

What does he mean by ‘nine years to stop climate change’? Does he mean that we don’t need to do anything till 2031? Does he mean that there must be no more changes to the climate after 2031? Does he mean that he, himself, must do something different in 2031? What does this magical deadline actually mean?

“As early as 1864 George Perkins Marsh, sometimes said to be the father of American ecology, warned that the earth was……” Don’t doubt his talents and know little about the history but news to me with several courses in ecology, even taught a little. He may have been a forerunner of current panic predictors. Ernest Haeckel first used the word, “Öekologie” about the same time and the Darwin lineage and others put the science to it. As real ecologists often understand as from one current book—-“As often as not the terms [Ecology and Environment] are misused…” Many had to understand nature’s ways to survive. Although statistical lineage was older, don’t recall anyone with prescience of models.

The sense of shrill urgency is a classic liars tactic- sign the contract before it is too late. Add to this the tactics of lies to support lies to support lies (such as semantically manipulated consensus studies) , moving goalposts and suppression of dissenting views and questioning, and we have all the hallmarks of a massive scam.
Childhood fables such as the lamb and the wolf and the Emperor’s new clothes are warnings about treachery and tyranny in the world.

I thought the magic figure was 12 years not 9? Maybe he can’t read the prompter anymore. As a typical Hollywood mouthpiece he should not be allowed near a microphone until he gets his sums right.

Good news. The window has grown from seven years to nine. Do I hear any advance on nine.

And doesn’t evolution depend on going forth and multiplying? Is the great man really telling the world to go forth and multiply?
