Monday Mirthiness: Latest idiocy from the “extinction rebellion”

Corona is the cure – tweet from an account claiming to represent XR East Midlands

Media Release
Friday 26 March 2021

EMBARGOED: 8.30am Monday 29 March 2021 Intersection of Bathurst and George Street, Sydney
8am Monday 29 MARCH 2021

Extinction Rebellion will majorly disrupt Sydney’s CBD on Monday from 8am with simple demand: no gas-fired recovery.

Extinction Rebellion (XR) protesters will take part in two actions in Sydney’s CBD on Monday March 29 to call on governments and companies to commit to abandon gas. XR calls for no more dirty gas destroying land, water and the planet.

XR will start with a Renewables Recovery March  from Pitt Street Mall on Monday March 29 at 8.15am. This loud and colourful procession will call for demanding no gas-fired recovery and a sustainable future.
Another disruptive action will take place at the intersection of Bathurst and George Street. From 8.00AM, protesters will occupy the space. XR is aware of the inconvenience caused to drivers, however time is running out.

Extinction Rebellion demand APA back out of the Western Slopes Pipeline and Santos’s Narrabri Gas Project.  APA are progressing plans to construct a 450-kilometre pipeline to carry gas from Santos’s Gas Project in Narrabri to Newcastle will destroy forest and farmland which we need for oxygen and food as well as pollute the air with fugitive gas emissions and NSW’s water supply.

Extinction Rebellion spokesperson Danny Noonan (47, Dapto) who has a vision impairment is taking part in the protest at Bathurst and George Street. He said:

“Using regular channels and being polite is not working. We need to find a way that does, mass and disruptive actions are the first step in forcing the people in power to start listening.”
XR rebels will block a road in protest of the undemocratic approval of the Western Slopes Pipeline and Santos’s Narrabri Gas Project and in solidarity with the local people of Narrabri as well as Gamilaraay Traditional Owners. The project was recommended for approval despite 23,000 submissions opposing the project (98% of all submissions).

The Narrabri gas project is not supported by the local community, interest groups or Traditional Owners. The communities are increasingly aware that their town water, land and food security are put at risk by the project. A 2014 survey found that 97% of the community oppose projects like this in their area.  The Country Women’s Association of NSW opposed the project, questioning how a project with 134 conditions could continue. NSW Farmers say the project seriously risks water resources, soil, air quality and food security in NSW.

Another XR member at the protest AJ Tennant (39, Glebe) said, “We’re telling APA, Santos and our governments to listen. Listen to local communities, listen to traditional owners. The outrage is palpable – they do not want these dirty gas projects. They know it threatens their water, their land and the future of our planet.”

The projects are a serious threat to what’s left of the Pilliga Forest. The Pilliga forest is the largest remaining forest in Australia and NSW relies the forest on for groundwater capture. The damage that will be done to local communities and the planet will not see a good return on investment from this ‘economic mirage. The project will massively contribute to carbon pollution as Australia and the world urgently needs to reach net zero emissions.

Danny Noonan said, “Government is not listening to us or to the scientists. Change is not happening fast enough for us to make any real difference. We have met and are constantly meeting tipping points without doing enough to stop us from falling over the edge.”

XR is calling on APA to urgently back out of the project. The company is aware that the project threatens the water table, food production and the future of the local area.

These actions were planned as part of a national week of protests around capital cities last week. Due to extreme weather caused by the climate emergency these actions in Sydney were postponed.

Extinction Rebellion demands our governments:
1.    declare a climate emergency
2.    halt biodiversity loss and reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2025
3.    and be led by the binding decisions of a Citizens’ Assembly on climate and ecological justice.

Acknowledgement of Country
XR acknowledges our actions take place on stolen land. We pay respect to the traditional custodians of this land, including elders past and present. First Nations people around the world have been on the frontline against colonial expansion and environmental destruction for centuries. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

Quote “Using regular channels and being polite is not working. We need to find a way that does, mass and disruptive actions are the first step in forcing the people in power to start listening”.
Definition of terrorism:
“Terrorism is the use or threat of action, both in and outside of the UK, designed to influence any international government organisation or to intimidate the public. It must also be for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.”

They just admitted to being terrorists.

I haven’t seen such a lack of brains since practice day at the ISIS suicide bombers school.

Great entertainment!

The XR mob remind me of the Pied Piper. They love the colourful spectacle and fall for the absurd notion. Like the rats and then the children, they will be led to oblivion.
If I was not working, I would don a Pied Piper costume with a placard around my neck that reads XR-leading humanity to extinction. Skip around the useful idiots. Hopefully others pick up on the absurdity when it lands on videos.

It’s political theater of the absurd. They have a juvenile, hysterical vision of our relationship with the climates and then decided that they’re entitled to restrict the rest of us align with their own misunderstandings and beliefs. They’re a religion.

You know we need to pin down the tipping point date – currently you meet one and then there’s another one 2 years out. If we had one pinned down we could get there pass over it and finally say: “That’s it we’re f….d, and get back to partying – you know guilt free!

Humans are the only thing that can save the planet in the very-long term. Eventually either CO2-starvation will k*ll most of the biota, or certainly the sun’s heating up from core-contraction will cook the earth (some say in about 500 million yrs). Only humans will be able to move the planet, using a large body/asteriod as an orbiting attractor to pull it outward very slowly.

This is what one of the founders of XR, Stuart Basden had to say, and I would hope what he says is self evident for whether all of this is good or bad. It’s the usual tropes, and it’s open ended of course, and I’m sure he would also say “there is so much more to be done”.

“And I’m here to say that XR isn’t about the climate. You see, the climate’s breakdown is a symptom of a toxic system of that has infected the ways we relate to each other as humans and to all life…
– The delusion of white-supremacy centres whiteness and the experience of white people, constructing and perpetuating the myth that white people and their lives are somehow inherently better and more valuable than people of colour.
-The delusion of patriarchy centres the male experience, and excludes/hinders female assigned people from public life (reducing them to a possession or object for ownership or consumption). Patriarchy teaches dominating and competitive behaviours, and emphasises the idea that the world is a place of scarcity, separation and powerlessness.
– The delusions of Eurocentrism include the notion that Europeans know what is best for the world.
– The delusions of hetero-sexism/heteronormativity propagate the idea that heterosexuality is ‘normal’ and that other expressions of sexuality are deviant.
– The delusions of class hierarchy uphold the theory that the rich elite are better/smarter/nobler than the rest of us, and make therefore better decisions.
– There are other delusions. These delusions have become ingrained in all of us, taught to us from a very young age…”

No, no, nooooo. The beheadings in Mozambique are carried out by the CIA, I mean Federal Government, damn, get it right, ISIS, as funded, trained, armed and supported by the Fed’s musclemen in the CIA.
Bet you didn’t know the “US is fighting ISIS” in Mozambique, eh? Just like in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Lybia…

Why is it that those who cheer people dying to “Save the Planet” never volunteer to do so themselves?

Because their religion has no rules. They admittedly make them up as they go along.

I think that’s a theological flaw for XR. At some point, they should emulate the real commitment like buddhist monk Thich Quang Duc to show they are serious. One guy, a Vietnamese monk who’s action changed the world. They could all learn from that.

No, more like: Liberals are the problem, indeed, and ignorance should be VERY painful. You cannot fix stupid. You cannot teach common sense.

Remember, they would like humans to go extinct, to produce a planet that is brutal, all predator and prey and dying. We have removed enormous numbers of animals from the fate of dying while being eaten alive or torn apart. Ah, we are such bad people.

These ignoramuses do not realize that our domesticated animals are the winners. When we go to other planets, we are taking them with us. It’s the other species that have not endeared themselves to us who are the losers.

Was watching a video of a recent interview with Roger Hallam, one of the co-founders of this little group of joy and happiness.

He pointed out that he was studying Civil Disobedience at King’s College.

Muse on that.

Go to an elite centre of higher education (aka – something the vast majority of people will not have the time or resources to do) and study how to disrupt society (aka – a place the vast majority of people are forced to constantly interact with).

Think that sums their movement up really. They are bored privileged elitists flexing their sense of entitlement.

Are they excusing his behavior as short sighted, or does this imply that XR lacks vision as an organization?

No, it gives him extra cripple-credits. Or are you some kind of bigot that will argue with an otherwise-abled person? Black Hole theory rests almost entirely on cripple-credits, for example…. You gonna argue with that?

If the project is so bad for humans by threatening the water table and food production, then I would think XR would be championing the project to expedite the demise of the human race. I suppose it’s too much to expect a consistent, logical argument from this lot.

XR is the worst kind of cult. Most cults have the decency to kill themselves for their beliefs, these narcissistic sociopaths want everyone else to kill themselves for their beliefs.

Are these people even aware that “renewables” are the most environmentally destructive technology available for power generation. I would have to conclude that, no, they aren’t aware. But if they are that ignorant about the very subject that has consumed their passions, what can you say about them, these people who have no idea what they are talking about? It is all about social conditioning I think. They repeat the actions and rituals of their peers.

There was an interesting experiment that backs this up. The waiting room of a clinic sounded a bell every minute or so. On the sound of the bell everyone stood up then sat down again. What would happen when somebody outside this group arrives? At first she looked confused when everyone stood, but after two bells, she herself stood for the third and subsequent bells. Eventually everybody apart from the woman left, but a new, unsuspecting person came in and sat down. After observing the woman do this on two occasions, he also joined in. There is a psychological theory for this, but I’m not sure what it’s called. Probably “useful idiot.”

Do XR think they are acting out a script for “War of the Worlds” where the common cold is going to take out the invading Martians? What planet are they on? Clearly isn’t Planet Earth.

First you have to recognize these people are either the most ignorant on earth or straight up nuts. The you first idea would probably solve the problem and clear traffic to proceed.

A country that shuts down it’s energy use will soon find itself in poverty and occupied by foreign troops.

As for original ownership how can they call for the return to the aboriginal if all humans are dead. Shouldn’t the land be returned to the slime and murk that existed, according to evolutionists, that was here before man. Wait, that was in the water.

Astronomers have found a lot of planets that don’t support human life and Earth is the only planet known to support human life and the godless ones here would prefer there be no humans. Given the means they could go there and enjoy the pristine environment for the 1 to 30 seconds before they expire.

They have a right to express themselves but first it should be useful rather than destructive.

The fact of the matter is that most of these green nutjobs believe the earth is only for them and their cult. The rest of humanity is an inconvenience for them and standing in the way of their laziness.
