Another Plastic Boat: Climate Messiah Greta Thunberg Hitches a Lift to COP25

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

Looks like Greta might make it to COP25 after all.

Let’s all wish Greta a safe journey. I’m not exactly a fan, but there is a funny side to watching Greta scold climate hypocrites at public engagements, watching all those people who pretend to care squirm and hang their heads in the face of that unrelenting glare.

There is no guarantee Madrid will be the final resting place of COP25. A month ago there were large scale protests in Spain over the rising cost of living, and there is huge anger at the Spanish Government’s heavy handed response to highly active Spanish separatist movements. If the security situation in Spain deteriorates, perhaps President Trump could make a last minute offer to rescue the COP25 climate conference, by hosting it in the USA.

In times past, she would be known as a common scold and subject to ducking.

The north Atlantic in winter, I remember my wife doing the crossing on the QE2, she said it was scary with lots of broken plates etc, good luck with that.

This is going to end badly. A child of 16 in pigtails, got out to look 14 or so, making naive and idealistic appeals, is fine and touching.

A young woman of 18 or 20 isn’t going to get away with it any more. Particularly not the pigtails. This particular 16 year old seems very unlikely to make a successful transition into responsible adulthood on her own, and doesn’t seem to have anyone around her who will help with it. From what one hears about the family background it was totally lacking in any kind of emotional maturity or discipline.

When she gets past the present role, the handlers will dump her.

It will end badly.

If the weather in Spain keeps up COP25 may be snowed in. Wouldn’t that be funny to see all the alarmists screeching about warming in the snow.

It’s happened to them before, even if only the setting of low temperature records, e.g. COP 16 in Cancun.

There’s no global warming, there’s only global average warming. Stations with 30-year (the LAST thirty years, 1989 -2019) flat or cooling trends are well-mixed in with stations having warming trends.

There are 27, 323 reporting stations in the NOAA GHCN Monthly Summary Report, V4, and only 1800 of them have complete, unbroken reporting records in either the 1951-1980 or 1981-2010 time frame. For the full 20th Century series, there are only around 800 or so.

If you only look at stations having an unbroken series of reports between 1989-2019, there are only around 1000 total, and 79 have flat or negative trends.

If you allow 354 instead of 360 full months for a 30-year series, the number goes from 1800 to nearly 6000 stations, and over half of them have flat or negative trends.

Only about one-third of the 5X5 degree cells of the earth’s grid have one of the full-series stations within. That’s a lot of interpolation to fill the empties.

The ONLY way to make it appear the Earth is warming is to average, smooth, and manufacture data (infilling), which hides the mix of warming and cooling stations that are so intermingled. That diversity of records should have killed the CO2 hypothesis immediately, but the people invested in it would rather keep creating “just so” stories, than abandon their pet hypothesis.

How did they afford the “eco” volvo diesel engined boat? And for what reason are they giving vile greta a lift?

As we have seen with “scientist’s” they lie just to get grant money, Ocasio wants to waste trillions, yet uses cars and planes constantly… Its all about the money, and would personally love a full detailed report on vile greta and her parents financials, especially since the mother doesn’t work and greta isn’t in school any more..

I don’t think Greta knows enough about yachts to understand what happens when a large catamaran turns turtle. In those circumstances it is totally impossible to turn the thing the right way up. This is the time of year, way back, when I crossed the Atlantic West to East on a 15,000-ton steam powered cargo ship. The waves were so steep, the propeller came out of the water every time we crested each wave, which required the steam supply to the turbine to be reduced, to prevent the screw over-speeding in clear air. Then as we descended each wave, the steam to the turbine was opened up again to maintain way on the ship. If they meet conditions like that, Greta will not be happy! I don’t wish her any harm, but hope she does not have a smooth ride!

I don’t know why she is encouraging these big international gatherings. If she is to be consistent, she should be scolding the ”carbon elite” for literally flying in the face of everything she stands (sails) for.If she makes it to cop 25, her first question to her minions should be, ”How did you all get here”
Meanwhile, her adventures highlight exactly why the rest of the modern world have moved on from sailing, and use jet aeroplanes instead.

Bio

Hello! My name is Elayna/Elay/Lay take your pick.

Lets start with my roots. Mum is from Austria, she was a Catholic girl with strict parents and immigrated when she was 16 to Australia. Dad is from Romania, jumped on a flight (fled the country) when he was 20, after him and his friends made a small home made-bomb and blew up a milk factory (no people were inside, just milk).

First thing I did was get a job to save up money so I could start crossing off a few things on my list … that also happened to include expensive plane tickets.

It was well worth the pay check and it was what bought me my first flight overseas. The beginning of 5 years of travel.

My best friend Erin and I flew to Europe for the summer and backpacked through 16 different countries over a period of 3-4 months. Some of the best times of my life on this trip.

After my summer in Greece was over, I flew back to Australia to work again.

I had no money for flights over there and back and my boss (to be) way nice enough to help me out there and I signed a contract saying I would work for them for a few months and they would fly me to and from Australia.

My job was great, I loved it and the people I worked with. I was reunited with a few great friends on the island who cannot resist but to fly back each year for the summer in Ios.

I see a lot of my dad in me the older I get. I don’t think I’ll ever do anything as extreme as blow up a milk factory (yes, that part about my dad was actually true)…….

We were running low on money, and nearly actually ran out before we took La Vagabonde out of the water in Grenada W.I for the hurricane season. We flew back to Australia to work again and try and get some cash together to help fund the next leg of our trip.

I’ll make no comment.

Her father Svante Thunberg was on the boat that got her to New York two months ago. He is now not on the boat back, as far as I can see. Where has he gone? Has he, perhaps, flown home? If so, that would be an interesting headline, wouldn’t it?

Not one word about the real potential victim on this trip, the baby on board, it’s the hight of stupidity to sail this time of year with a baby on board let alone a 16 year old.if something does go wrong I hope iceberg her handlers and the parents of the baby suffer, this trip is nothing more than a publicity stunt for the parents to gain some extra cash through the said publicity, I doubt they would of employed a professional sailor to make this trip if iceberg was not on board..

About Spain right now, since I live here:

Elections last sunday gave president Sanchez and his left-by-far-left coalition a weaker mayority than before, but still enough. Since he depends on the separatist MPs in his own party, he’ll appease the protestors in Barcelona. They were rioting because some of their leaders were on trial. That was a legacy of former president Rajoy. Sanchez will probably let the separatist leaders go free.
He installed an office for “energy transition”, meaning more wind and solar power and more blackouts than we already get. Pedro Sánchez y Pérez-Castejón won’t let COP25 get away now that he has it.

Separatism in Spain is a phenomenon similar to climate hysteria. It’s based on several lies:
– economy: “Spain is robbing us.” Nope, Catalunya gets more money from Madrid than they pay. Necessary repairs and new projects of bridges, roads etc. in other parts of Spain got halted because Barcelona is top priority. Also, the separatists tried to get a deal where Catalunya would leave Spanish legislation but stay in Spanish social security because they know Catalunya contributes less than its people get.
– history: Since they took over their regional ministry of education, separatists have changed the curriculum. Catalan schoolchildren learn about a medieval state of Catalunya that never existed. Back before their was a Spain, there was the county of Barcelona, much smaller than what the separatists claim as their Catalunya. A count of Barcelona married a princess of Aragón and the two regions have been politically together ever since.
– linguistic: From several different Catalan dialects they created a standard Catalan language, choosing from every region the features that differ most from standard Spanish. This artificial Catalan is now taught obligatorily in schools. In theory, children have a right to choose in which language to get their education, Spanish or Catalan. In practise, Spanish isn’t offered. I’m studying linguistics in Barcelona. For Norwegian and Swedish and similar cases we learned the usual rule: If they’re at least 70 % mutually intellegible, they’re dialects, not languages. The same professors who taught me that, however, treat Spanish and Catalan as two different languages although every Spanish speaker understands Catalan and vice versa.
-democratic: A “referendum” two years ago gave separatists a landslide victory. But when separatists print the ballots and count them, too, what else is it going to be?

What I haven’t heard addressed is the temperature of the mid Atlantic this time of the year.
How do you keep warm on a catamaran with out using fossil fuels? Will extra clothing be sufficient; especially for a baby?
Am I missing something?

There is a book Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds. The book exposes false belief and fraud in 724 pages.

Greta has been absolutely convinced she is right and the attention and support she is getting reinforces her belief. What happens to her when the disaster she has been taught is certain to happen does not? What could have been a normal and average life might not be. That is non delusional child abuse by delusional adults who somehow want to believe the worse. What is the psychology in people who want to believe the worse, especially without proof. Does it make them feel better. I wouldn’t know.
