Climate activist Greta Thunberg proclaimed “Successor of Christ” by Church of Sweden

From the Climate Activisim crosses the religious threshold and YGBFKM department comes this inanity.

Via Bibliatodo Noticias via Google Translate:

Greta Thunberg activist is proclaimed “Successor of Christ” by Church of Sweden

Sep 27, 2019

For [her] defense of the environment, the Swedish church has claimed that activist Greta Thunberg is the “successor of Jesus Christ” at this time.

“Ad! Jesus of Nazareth has now named one of his successors, Greta Thunberg, ” wrote the Limhamns Kyrka church on Twitter.

More than that, bible-thumpers will claim that she’s a sign from Revelations that the end is really near.
When followers of the church of Greta begin whacking the folks who think God is still in charge, they might have some substantiation.

Many of the mainline churches stopped using the gospels to inform their beliefs long ago.
This goes double for any church that has a connection to that countries government.

Google translate it as:

Which is pretty much the same as Anthony wrote.

When an existing fool through some magic or mindless imagination of his own proclaims a non-existent entity (prove otherwise) appointed a successor that’s desperately pushing crocodile tears about a non-existent issue cratered with lies, you know the Left’s jumped the shark simply to appear virtuous. Teen-aged girls need no encouragement, when it comes to feeling their emotions make more sense then elders, especially Dads. Pity Greta, who is told by some she’s the next Christ.

The teachers who are putting these foolish ideas in Greta’s head are also to be pitied. They failed to study history even when they teach a revised sort. They fail to see when one teaches youth to disrespect authority one eventually becomes the authority youth attacks. Look what M–‘s Red Guard did to their teachers.

Looking up the name, and assuming this is an “official” account – you are closer to correct.

The headline should more likely read “Church IN Sweden.” Congregations in Sweden are more “lock step” than those in the US, but not completely so. There are still concentrations of nutcases here and there. It appears that there is one such in Malmo.

Greta Thunberg behaves and talks like a prophet. Typically. All those How dare you?! Like Nathan speaking to David. Or Jeremiah prophesizing about all the calamities that will befall the land. She’s a prophet of the climate warming cult which in my meaning is a new religion. Future will tell a prophet’s autenticity.

“The Book of Revelation, often called the Book of Revelations, Revelation to John, the Apocalypse of John, The Revelation, or simply Revelation, the Revelation of Jesus Christ (from its opening words) or the Apocalypse, is the final book of the New Testament, and therefore also the final book of the Christian Bible.“

Are you saying the ‘s’ is often wrongly added to ‘Revelation’? Perhaps so, but it is still common usage.

Sir, with respect you sound very much like the CO2 causes everything crowd and I have never understood the monotheists with their claims of forgiveness yet their threats of such unpleasant revenge should those of us who choose not to believe do so. The idea of threatening people with sadistic agony for ever should we not become followers is baffling to human beings such as myself.
Have I missed the sarc/ sign?
We are seeing how this cult is developing with threats to livelihoods and careers (indeed didn’t one warmist demand sceptics be prosecuted under the RICO act somewhat akin to being prosecuted for Heresy?), combined with personal attacks on character. You make it sound as if that’s the way monotheism started and indeed I feel it was. At least you have given us some insight as to how far this cult, as with any zealotry, could go and why we should be doing all we can to stop it.
Could I just ask again did I miss the sarc/ sign or were we expected to know it is parody?

HELP PLEASE

This is reportedly a UK document – can anyone provide its source/url?
________________

The scale of action required if the UK is to deliver on its commitments enshrined in the Paris Agreement
… all starting January 2020, if not before!

• A moratorium on all new fossil fuel development
• An immediate phase-out of all fossil fuel production, to be complete by 2030-35
– with detailed polices of a just transition for those working in the industries
• A rap idly rising frequent flier levy to immediately slash how often the ‘frequent fliers’ fly
• No airport expansion
• No expansion of the road network
• The rapid move to car-free (including EVs) cities and towns
• A minimum emission standard on all new cars (max IOOgC02/km & tightening at 8-10% each year
• A tight emission standard on all power stations (a fleet level for all suppliers of 250gC02/kWh
• A minimum & very stringent efficiency standard for all rented properties/homes
• All new houses and buildings to be passive-house standard and include onsite renewables
• A fair carbon tax (fee & dividend) or personal carbon allowance
• Major subsidies for E-bikes (paid from the Frequent Flier levy?)
• Stop all fossil fuel advertising
• Devolve responsibilities and powers to regions & cities to help deliver culturally-appropriate policies

And the UK’s Committee on Climate Change to revisit its 1.5°C report without relying on ‘negative emission technologies’
and to take seriously issues of international equity and fairness within our own country

Mummyr: “Dear, you shouldn’t have boiled that egg. You used all your UN energy credits just boiling it. I told you to eat it raw.”
Daughter: “It was better than Russian turnip.”
Mummyr: “You have no idea what I had to do to get that egg.”
Daughter: “Thanks mummy. Greta said things would get better, will they?”
Mummyr: “I hope so dear.”
Daughter: “Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio say the climate emergency is nearly over.”
Mummyr: “They’ve been saying that most of your 8 years. All good things take time.”
Daughter: “But I miss my friends.”
Mummyr: “Shhh! Not so loud in front of the UN Big Brother cameras. Lamenting will get us sent to the Venezuelan gulag picking turnips. ALL HAIL DEAR LEADER AL GORE AND THE UNITED NATIONS OF HOPE!!!”
Daughter: “Sorry mummy.”
Mummyr: “It’s okay dear. Just remember to recite your hail UN prayers loudly tonight before bed.”
Daughter: “Okay. Do you want the pillow tonight?”
Mummyr: “You have it. I can roll up my UN-sanctioned red overalls and socks.”
Daughter: “I hate the pillow, it smells very bad.”
Mummyr: “The UN says turnip and potato peel pillow filling is good for you. It’s all I could afford anyway since I had to spend everything on our ID microchips.”
Daughter: “I’m still cold. Can we go home soon?”
Mummyr: “Not until we pay the royalty taxes on the chips.”
Daughter: “[sobs] But Al Gore and Leonardo are warm in their castles, and Harrison Ford…”
Mummyr: “Shhh! I know. Nothing we can do right now. I hope Greta comes back and saves us all. HAIL DEAR LEADER AL GORE AND THE UNITED NATIONS OF HOPE!!!”
Daughter: “I liked Greta. I wonder what happened to her after the Great Vote.”
Mummyr: “Nobody knows dear. Our next shift will start soon. Working will get you warm. Do you want to polish the solid gold spoons this time?”
Daughter: “I like polishing. The UN delegates will be proud of me for making their cutlery sparkle. But the big machine scares me.”

Yes, but the problem for “us” is that we are not an organized identifiable group driven by any particular ‘ideology’ that we all have in common. So it’s almost impossible for “us” to organize into one in order to combat the madness. The UN and IPCC, on the other hand, are identifiable groups driven by a common ideology (left-wing Liberalism, say, or Socialism, and a shared desire to overthrow the industrial West). Us normal folk are really just random individuals who just want to be left alone to get on with our lives. Perhaps we have a shared view of the world based on conservative ideals, but that’s not an ideology. We are up against an organized and determined enemy with a common aim.

James I’d like to suggest that independencedaily might be of interest because it is not a political party, it is an online newspaper through which you will reach both Brexit party and UKIP voters. Although quintessentially political it’s not linked to a political party and so provides an apolitical forum to promote the benefits of cheap reliable energy.
Climate is very difficult for a political party to tackle directly. Mr. Farage launched his party with NO policies! (Except for Brexit). Policies put people off as well as attract them. Energy policy is a hard sell. It can be done (sell the sizzle not the sausage) but one needs a big advertising budget to even make a dent. PR is cheap but lacks the repetition of advertising. So, a lot of articles from different directions and different authors is the next best thing.

Once they start implementing that lit of restrictions, the pushback will be enormous, and the UKIP will revive. This pushback effect is why I’m not too concerned about alarmists currently “winning” and moving to renewables, banning fracking and pipelines, etc. They’ll win and win until they lose—and they’ll lose hard and wide.

Hi Roger,

Yes Roger, but you will lose more and you may not be able to recover your country or your democracy from the socialist dictatorship that is their plan – and I envisage even more Excess Winter Deaths as their plan unfolds, and the end of your democracy.

I have a great-uncle buried in France, killed in the last days of WW1, and an uncle who rescued the only 10 survivors of his unit at the Dieppe Raid in WW2, winning the Military Cross.

I feel an obligations to all those who fought, bled and died to save your country from foreign tyranny, to speak strongly against this insidious virus that has deeply infected your land.

Good people of the United Kingdom, just listen to your Uncle Allan, who has never steered you wrong, and has your best interests at heart.

More than 50,000 Excess Winter Deaths occurred in England and Wales in the winter of 2017-2018 – an Excess Winter Death rate more than 2.5 times the per-capita average rate of the USA, and 2.5 to 5 times the per capita winter death rate in Canada.

That is about 35,000 more people who died in just that winter, who would be alive today if the UK had sensible energy and climate policies, instead of hysterical “global warming” alarmist nonsense. Grandpa Bob and Great-Aunt Nan could be enjoying a pint down-the-pub, instead of pushing up daisies. It is a national scandal, a national disgrace.

This catastrophic situation is due in part to destructive, utterly imbecilic energy policies of the UK, which have caused energy costs in the UK to be many times that of Canada and the USA. The UK should “Get fracking”, and allow no more fracking delays by homicidal climate fanatics!

I predicted this debacle in 2013 and earlier, for example in an open letter to The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Energy and Climate Change, Baroness Verma, here:

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/10/31/blind-faith-in-climate-models/#comment-1130954
[excerpt]

I suggest that Excess Winter Mortality, the British rate of which is about double the rate in the Scandinavian countries, should provide an estimate of this unfolding tragedy.
As always in these matters, I hope to be wrong. These are not numbers, they are real people, who “loved and were loved”.

Best regards to all, Allan MacRae

“Turning and tuning in the widening gyre, the falcon cannot hear the falconer…” Yeats
[end of excerpt]

Dammit I’m tired of being correct and having these climate ‘scoundrels and imbeciles’ carry on with their murderous policies, killing literally millions every year. I’ve concluded that nobody could be this stupid for this long, and therefore their actions must be deliberately destructive.

Take it from me … it doesn’t translate from Swedish to English faithfully (err… pun?) I tried and tried to learn one of the Scandinavian language (Danish), and it is a most amusing bidirectional conversion problem.

Of course, not privvy to the orginal Swedish, one can only surmise … that “embodiment of Jesus” is only half the image, the other being the implied “living a righteous life, in the model He gave”.

So…

From the link below

The term pedophrasty is a relatively new word — not currently accepted by an official dictionary — but that has a powerful meaning in today’s political and media environment. Pedophrasty is an “argument involving children to prop up a rationalization and make the opponent look like an asshole, as people are defenseless and suspend all skepticism in front of suffering children: nobody has the heart to question the authenticity or source of the reporting. Often done with the aid of pictures.” We have seen this tactic employed by both the left and the right sides of the political spectrum and it is, unfortunately, highly effective.

If you’ve turned on your television this week, you’ve likely seen 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg. No one here at the Free Thought Project are climate scientists, so we will abstain from commenting on her agenda. However, neither is she. But I digress. The political and mainstream media machine’s exploitation of Thunberg is a perfect example of pedophrasty.

If Thunberg’s activism actually wakes people up to pollution and incites a peaceful and a voluntarily implemented environmental benefit — without ushering in a tyrannical climate change police state — we fully support her endeavors. Wanting to save the world is a noble cause and if children want to try to do that, by all means, have at it—just don’t take away anyone’s life or liberty in the process.

The subsequent sh*t storm that was sparked online by Thunberg’s coverage — entailing both support and hatred — however, is a different story. It served as a perfect distraction to things that actually matter in our lives. As videos of Thunberg meeting with Barack Obama went viral (I’ll get to that irony in just a second), extremely important events unfolded around us, which were entirely ignored by the mainstream media.

Before I list these major stories passed over by the media, I would be remiss if I failed to point out the irony of the Obama/Thunberg meeting. Sorry.

Barack Obama advocated for, approved, and oversaw eight wars in various different countries which brought death and destruction to millions of innocent people. Under his watch, tens of thousands of war heads fell all over the Middle East ensuring a lifetime of pollution and suffering for the people who managed not to be blown up by them. What’s more, under his (and yes, Trump’s too) presidency, the US military contributed more pollution to the planet than 140 countries, combined. This has made the United States military the largest polluter on the planet. But, by all means, he fist-bumped Greta, so, all good man.

Back to the point.

As the media circus distracted and divided the masses, major stories unfolded and we felt it necessary to cover them. Below is that list…………………………

There’s a reason they’ve always been called “poster children” through the ages. Then when you disagree with the message of the party they’re associated with, you’re attacked as if killing the messenger, the poor child. Leftards are good at this deflection.

I see no reason to coin new words like “pedophrasty” when the situation with Greta is thoroughly covered by the old term, Child exploitation. Which is defined as “…the act of using a minor child for profit, labor, sexual gratification, or some other personal or financial advantage.” Her parents are both second rate actors and must certainly be aware that encouraging their child’s delusions (“seeing” CO2) and paranoia (“we’re all doomed”) and thrusting her on to the world stage can only enhance their otherwise mostly failed careers. I suspect they are hoping for a call from Leo D. while busily depositing all the donations that are coming in from around the world. Meanwhile, in a few millennia when the Milankovitch cycle has run its course and the ice sheets are scrubbing every trace of civilization off the face of Sweden, none of this will matter at all.

I have seen many using the word Antichrist in comments on several large Swedish sites.
The thing is, as my now long dead mother used to say after WWII: “The Swedish are so bravely neutral.” The never engaged actively in the defense against The Third Reich, the Swedish weapon manufacturer Bofors sold cannons to Hitler, etc. The Swedish common population, on the other hand, were kind of good, as they hosted Jewish refugees from Denmark. What I fear, is that the Swedish general population tend to never, or very seldom, really object loudly to whatever the government is doing. Compare that to the French! So there are crowd in Sweden who are discussed with praise Greta Thunberg is getting, but their voices are muted. When you apply for work in Sweden, your CV shall foremost contain your social viewpoint and your spare time activities. When I, some years ago applied for a Danish job in Greenland, I was asked about my engineering experience and the employer would not hear about anything else.
So that the church is naming her the new Jesus and that the Swedish government has just decided to give extra 8 billion Swedish kroner (800million US dollar) per year from 2020 to 2023 after listening to Greta Thunberg’s speech and getting Alternative Nobel Price, will most likely not lead to any public row – Swedes are so bravely neutral.

Yes Nick,
It was a twitter account of an independent parish, run by independent employees, that tried to spread the Christian message through witty tweets.
The Greta tweet was too much and aroused anger, especially among people associated with the Sweden Democrats, a xenophobic party with nazi roots, and the parish decided short after to shut down the twitter account. (This happened last year)
Needless to say, climate skeptiscism has it’s strongest base in these extreme right-wing environments, and a common trait among totalitarians is that they lack a sense of humour..

I wondered how long it would take for this kind of heresy to come to the surface. Good grief!!!

I would like to remind anyone who doesn’t have a background in the Christian faith (any denomination) that the Pharisees wanted Jesus gone and asked the local Roman governor to arrest him. Pontius Pilatus was his name. At first he refused, because he viewed it as a local problem that should be handled by locals, and the phrase “washed his hands of it” was coined with that refusal, because he is reported to have done just that symbolically. But when they insisted, he had Jesus arrested and tried for treason, and executed by crucifixion at Golgatha. Before this happened, Jesus was credited with performing several miracles, e.g., the endless stream of fish when the catch had been sparse that day, instant healing on request, etc.

So, if the Church of Sweden is declaring this teenager to be the successor to Jesus, where are her miracles? She has NONE. ZERO. NADA. ZILCH. ZIP. She just gets publicity that will wear off when she’s no longer a “thing” for the media to idolize. What’s next? Crusade marches to stop something that isn’t happening? Will she don armor and take up a sword and fight the invisible gases that only she can see?

You can’t really compare her to Jeanne d”Arc, who may or may not have been psychotic but was charismatic enough to lead Charles VII’s soldiers against the English. She was viewed as a troublesome individual who would be able to continue to successfully lead the French against the Brits, and was turned over to them, tried for witchcraft and heresy (for saying that God told her to do what she did) and executed.

Greta Thunberg has made ZERO claims of the kind that would put her in the position the Church of Sweden wants to elevate her to. Therefore, I find this announcement to be a very bad idea. Very bad. So bad that, in fact, if they asked me I would tell them that I view it as heresy of the worst kind.

‘She was viewed as a troublesome individual who would be able
to continue to successfully lead the French against the Brits…’

I think you mean ‘…against the English’. The Scots were on her side.
When she entered Orléans in 1429, it was to the skirl of the pipes.
Sir Patrick Ogilvy of Auchterhouse, Sheriff of Angus, led her escort.
The Bishop of the Orleans was one John Carmichael from Lanarkshire.
He had fought at the Battle of Bauge in 1421 (eight years before),
when three hundred Scots held up ten thousand Englishmen at a ford;
where the Earl of Buchan killed the Duke of Clarence (Henry V’s brother),
thereby saving the French Army from destruction through a broken truce.

Please do not study the history of these times in books written by Englishmen.

Jeanne D’Arc was not burned by those whose ends she advanced. She was burned by those whose ends she opposed. Her advice to the French, who were at the end of their tether, was both practical and effective. That is why the English demonised her and the French canonised her. Her case is utterly unlike that of Greta Thunberg.
Get it yet?

I should add, the tune the pipes were playing was ‘Hey Tutti Taiti’,

It was played at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.
In France it is known as ‘Hymne de St Jeanne D’Arc’.

Unfortunately, the institutions that previously underpinned our society seemingly actively seek to reduce their credibility and reliability by bowdlerising their key messages. Christianity turns to paganism and Gaia theory, and science becomes post modern, so that facts are now subjective, methodology is passe’ and Occams Razor is thrown out when the facts don’t fit the theory.

Yet another piece of Greta glorification by the CBC:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/how-greta-thunberg-s-autism-helps-give-her-a-singular-focus-1.5301634

“Greta Thunberg has met with world leaders, had an audience with the pope and made an impassioned plea to the United Nations. She’s done it all in the public eye, facing down trolls and sounding off against politicians, an impressive feat for any teenager. (…) She calls her autism her “superpower.” She has a clear message: she succeeds not in spite of her disability, but because of it. (…) “For those of us who are on the spectrum, almost everything is black or white,” she said at a TEDx Talk in Stockholm in November 2018. To Thunberg, climate change is a black and white issue: It’s bad and it needs to be stopped now.”

The two journalists, Ioanna Roumeliotis (senior reporter) and Melissa Mancini (junior) do not embarrass themselves with mundane questions such as how a 16 y old could have been propelled to ultra-secured Davos to the Pope and the UN in about one year without enormous establishment support, or how a math, physics, earth science high school education allows a 16 y old to differentiate good and bad science. No! Such logical questions belong to trolls, to unbelievers, since we are in the realm of cult.
Indeed, Greta’s autism is “superpower” and her chance is to see “almost everything [as] black and white”, which is concerning when facing the subtleties of real science, not the caricature presented by medias such as the CBC.

“It’s a voice that’s refreshing for Anne Borden King and her Baxter, 9, who are both autistic. They traveled from Toronto to Montreal on Friday to march in the country’s largest climate strike. (…) People with autism are often literal thinkers and it’s the simplicity and purity of Thunberg’s message that is resonating so widely, because it doesn’t waver. That appeals to everyone, especially younger people who tend to see the world in less nuanced ways.”

The article does not indicate if these autistic Torontonians walked, biked or swam, let alone drove, took the train or flew for their day trip to Montreal… As long as they identify with Greta, who cares?
Indeed, no need to try unearthing conspiracy theories here, one just needs to read the admirers’ prose to understand, that it is precisely because of her condition that this Greta character has been carefully groomed and chosen for this worldwide PR job.
One can think of many historical figures fitting the “simplicity and purity of message” description, many of them whose influence on youth and not so young brought misery to the world. But not for CBC journalists, hagiographers of the Greta gospel, for whom eyes and reason wide shut is the sine qua non condition to successful careers.

The lack of self awareness with these people is bemusing. Do they not read their own copy?

Take for example;

“She calls her autism her “superpower.” She has a clear message: she succeeds not in spite of her disability, but because of it. ”

… and compare to all the How Dare You!!! shouts when anyone even suggests that Greta is mentally disabled. Add into this the entire ‘black and white’ logic argument. Either Nordic Thanos is mentally disabled and we should not use this to attack the poor innocent sensitive child, or she is mentally blessed with powers us mortals cannot even comprehend and we should not question this superior gifted and commanding child. Which one is it? You are pushing the joys of a binary universe where your correct answer seems to be ‘both’.

Also worth observing is this little gem;

“That appeals to everyone, especially younger people who tend to see the world in less nuanced ways.”

Young people lack nuance? So when the rational mass claims Greta is a total fruit cake who lacks the life experience and education to fully comprehend what she is demanding because in the Real World there are no simple solutions to self invented complex problems, the Shrills counter that children should be listened to because their pure and simple souls are not corrupted by the life experiences and education?

This is what these people are suggesting. That because children still have innocent minds they see things in easy simple terms. Seriously? Because they don’t know what they are talking about, we need to listen to them?!

Lack of self awareness is strong with these people.

Now is a particularly good time to offer more clues to those whose curiosity has been piqued.
