Paris Agreement Architect Christiana Figueres has urged Australians to vote for independent Zali Steggall, in an effort to purge former Prime Minister Tony Abbott from the Australian Parliament.

Appalling’ policy inaction draws former UN climate leader into federal election campaign
By Stephen Long

The United Nations’ former climate change czar has intervened in the Australian election, publicly backing four female independent candidates and calling out “appalling inaction in Canberra” on climate change.

Christiana Figueres led the UN’s global negotiating process that culminated in the 2015 Paris climate change agreement, and is now a climate leader at the World Bank.

She has thrown her support behind Zali Steggall, who is standing against former prime minister Tony Abbott in the NSW seat of Warringah, Wentworth MP Kerryn Phelps, Mayo MP Rebekha Sharkie and the MP for Chisholm, Julia Banks, who resigned from the Liberal Party and is contesting the nearby seat of Flinders as an independent.

Ms Figueres said the four women “set out strong policy platforms and longer-term vision for what it would take for Australia to take its rightful place as a leader in the global fight against climate change”.

She condemned what she called “the ridiculous climate wars in Australia that have led to a very damaging climate and energy policy vacuum for more than a decade”.

“This inaction is putting us at war with a climate that has no more room for atmospheric pollution,” Ms Figueres said.

Why is the United Nations so frantic to get rid of Tony Abbott, that they would blatantly interfere with and try to influence a single outcome in the 18th May Australian Federal Election?

If climate skeptic politicians do well at the Federal Election, and Abbott retains his seat, there is a small but real possibility Tony Abbott could win back his old job as Prime Minister of Australia.

If Tony Abbott becomes Prime Minister, President Trump will have a new, dependable ally on climate policy, and other key policies like immigration, and international trade, which could shatter United Nations efforts to promote the Paris Agreement and to isolate President Trump on the world stage.

Thanks Steve Chase I have read this many times and I would like to see it published in the mainstream news papers but that would never happen .
If the UN was at all serious about climate change they would be advocating for extensive use of nuclear energy to replace fossil fuels .
It is the naked truth that the UN want to destroy capitalism.
They would be advocating for nuclear which is the only non CO2 emitting energy source that can power the modern advanced civilization that we have now in most advanced countries.

I have been trying to understand what is driving the manic upsurge in climate alarmism currently taking place.
The big institutional players the IMF the UN the World Bank and their political constructs have been working overtime in the past year to drive fear into the minds of people, not blessed with scientific understanding of these things.
Children are being used and abused, literally being projecting as the poster children of climate alarmism. Their lack of understanding and ignorance, have been given centre stage in the climate crusade, by the alarmists.
Meanwhile the climate continues along its benign trajectory. With local weather events no matter how typical or normal, are being hyped and used by the on side propagandists, to convey the false impending doom. Think BBC, CNN, ABC and so on.
The reason for this urgency, is perhaps, the changing political awareness regarding climate?
World wide, political leaders are now challenging the faux science, pushed out as fact, by climate alarmists. Think Trump, XI Jinping, of China, Modi of India, Bolsonaro of Brazil, these are all leaders of massive countries that matter in world climate terms, they do not project the UN agenda/desire, which is to force climate anxiety into the peoples’ minds.
Australia is an interesting case. They have woken up to what is being done to them in the name of climate concern. Having no aircon due to power outages during an Australian heatwave thanks to unreliable energy supplies, is an educational experience most don’t want. The climate facts do not agree with the climate rhetoric and the people know it. Also as a key supplier of minerals and energy to the Chinese market, and having a huge Chinese proportion in the Australian population, Australia is favouring China rather than the nonsense UN/ World Bank shills.
China, is aiding third world countries via conditional loans, to build infrastructure and energy access mostly coal. They are aiding peoples natural desire to improve their lives. The World Bank refuses to do so, and has stated it will not fund developing nations wanting to use coal for energy.
Guess who is winning? You will then understand, why the climate alarmists are so animated.

”Australia is an interesting case. They have woken up to what is being done to them in the name of climate concern.”

Rod, I’d have to say they are (some of them) waking up slowly. Most (at least the ones making their voices heard) are still shrieking about the usual impending doom. We don’t hear the rest.
Eg; the Opposition leader, when asked about the cost of his ”action on climate change” during a ”public” forum answered by saying…..”What a stupid question, you can’s ask about the cost of doing something without asking the cost of doing nothing – or words to that effect…… Everyone cheered.
That was it. Next question. Same with the Greens leader. The general public…like deer in the headlights.

Keep the UN out of local elections – they have already done too much with Agenda 21 ICLEI.

ICLEI = The International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) – it’s an international UN organization.

I have a dream that one day … January 20, 2021, the day that Trump is sworn in for his second term … that he turns to his Secretary of State and says “Do it” … and the 22% of UN funding that comes from the United States is impounded. The dream ends when they hang a Now Selling Units sign on the FORMER UN Building in New York, which has converted to high end condos by, I dunno, someone with experience in that kind of real estate.

Only a dream, but you never know….

The (Australian) ABC writes: “…former climate change czar has intervened in the Australian election.”

dictionary.com writes “Origin of czar – 1545–55; < Russian tsar "

There was go. The ABC openly admits Russian Collusion in the Australian Election. I expect the US Democrats to be openly condemning over this and Maxine to be chanting Impeach Impeach Impeach before lunchtime Friday.

Clearly the former UN and now World Wank’s Evita is losing her temper that the plebs are not doing as the globalists demand and now feels she has to direct them to do as they are told. Won’t end well for the elitists in the end.

Totalitarian principle :

“If the people do not act as expected, change the people.”

Fortunately in most cases, the opposite happens … except when those totalitarian henchmen are not even elected …

And if they do not vote the way you require, keep repeating until you get the result you want.
Didn’t Einstein say something about repeating something over and over to get the result you want is a sign of insanity?

Once again, a climate fanatic does everything in her power to quash any alternative viewpoint. Traditional discussion on all points of view must be avoided at all costs with these people who do not have the confidence for open debate on climate change.

To be fair to Figueres she spends so much time flying around the world that perhaps she finds it hard to keep track of what is going on in the country .

That constitutes election interference by a foreign communist.
Surely not something that the Australians will just tolerate. Right?

Meanwhile coal export loadings are up from Australia for the Chinese metallurgical coal market and more global overproduction of steel.

“…what it would take for Australia to take its rightful place as a leader in the global fight against climate change…”
No disrespect intended to my Aussie friends, but Australia, with ~25 million people, is not likely to be a leader in the “global” fight against anything.

Why the “Ladies” support could prove invaluable.
To Tony Abbott.
Hopefully he will use her past statements about the “redistribution of wealth, via Climate lies”, to good use.
The member of the Effete Elites is too much.
Promote her long and hard as a symptom of the madness driving The Cult of Calamitous Climate.
So bogus that even its frontpersons boast about their deceit.
The add could start with; “She knows you are stupid”
And mention her belief that she owns us as well.

I’m going to get massacred for saying this, but I kind of hope Australia continues down the “Green” path to all renewables. They are a large country, but not huge. They are physically isolated from other countries that could help them out of the mess they’re creating by importing electricity. Kalifornia (I know – only a state, albeit a large one) has backup for their stupidity: Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon. European countries have backup from neighboring countries.

Someone needs to show the world how stupid reliance on renewables is, just as Venezuela has shown that socialism fails even when the country has incredible natural resources. Australia could be that example to the world.

Australia can recover, because they have money and resources as well as an educated workforce that could build nuclear and become a world leader in that arena – and beyond.

And maybe trash for a couple of generations belief in the wisdom of government officials. Hm. Another oxymoron: wise government. Beneficent government. Plththt.

Having Paris Agreement Architect Christiana Figueres intervene on the side of Zali Steggall could be worth a few extra votes for Tony Abbott at least.
