SpongeBob’s children take climate center stage

By Charles Battig|March 21st, 2019|Climate|

The media have been ablaze in recent days with pictures of bright eyed, enthusiastic students marching in uniform support of “saving the earth” as it spins inexorably towards a proclaimed fiery death in 12 years. Much of this activity has been here in the U.S.

However, in Sweden a solitary sixteen-year-old has become an international media star as she skipped school and boycotted outside the Swedish parliament building in Stockholm, and conducted a protest against what she perceives as her government’s slow movement on climate change. “I will sit there every Friday until Sweden is aligned with the Paris agreement,” she told enthralled attendees of the United Nations Conference of the Parties 24 (COP24) in Katowice, Poland this past December. Diagnosed with Asperger’s and ADHD, she is the daughter of Swedish opera singer Malena Ernman and actor Svante Thunberg.  Perhaps the theatrical flair runs in the family as this updated Pied Piper of Hamelin lures modern youth into the streets in colorful protest to “do something.” That same image is echoed at the adult level by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as her siren message enraptures the members of Congress, old and young alike, while she leads the mesmerized into climate salvation before the 12 remaining years of earthly existence expire.

Have these youthful concerns arisen de novo from their own reasoned studies of climate history and classroom science classes…or is there a guiding hand pushing fear and loathing of capitalism and fossil fuels at an early age of education? A recent essay documents the idea of using children to promote climate angst as part of a 2012 conference in La Jolla, which promoted the use of tobacco lawsuit related arguments to be used by children in climate change legal strategies.

Pitching to an even younger cadre of innocent children were efforts by the climate alarmists to insert climate change concern (known as global warming at the time) into the cartoon world inhabited by children. “The Endless Summer”, June 2005, was advertised as a SpongeBob SquarePants educational short. A more balanced view might have called it a propaganda short. The story line begins, “SpongeBob is on his way to the Krusty Krab when he spots a large factory pipe mounted on the restaurant’s roof. Inside is a parked boat pumping carbon dioxide up into the pipe and out into the atmosphere.” Later,”…Mr. Krabs is seen in his office, playing with tiny wax figurines of himself and a customer of the Krusty Pool. However, the figurines suddenly start to melt as a result of the raised temperature. When Mr. Krabs exits his office and demands who turned up the heat, he sees seventeen boats pumping carbon dioxide into the air.”

The imagery is set in our youths’ minds. The linkage is factory/carbon dioxide/atmosphere/people melting. In August 2011, the U.S. Department of Education was all aboard at an event in D.C. promoting reading where children were given this SpongeBob SquarePants book that “promotes the idea that global warming is manmade.” Subsequent public schooling agendas have served to reinforce the imagery, and no alternate scientific viewpoints are permitted as the urban legend known as consensus shuts out debate. The end result is now world-wide media shows of climate activism.

Children have been subject to this one-sided indoctrination on manmade climate throughout their education. It is no wonder that they are easily enlisted in media campaigns. They are the pediatric equivalent of the peer/pal review approval process; they support the doctrine which their trusted teachers have said is the truth.

Reaching further back in time, this public fixation on climate change as a catastrophe rather than a timeless characteristic of Earth, was a topic of interest for economist Julian Simon. He reflected upon the failure of the news media to report his factual debunking of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s “vanishing farmland scam” in his 1999 book: “Hoodwinking the Nation.” Most of the rest of the book deals with the conundrum of the public’s propensity to accept “false bad news,” and includes a chapter on global warming scares. In the intervening 20 years there is little evidence that this peculiar human trait has changed; bad news still sells; bad news still drives charitable public donations, research grants, and media attention.

Further insight may be found in Charles Mackay’s studies of mass human follies: “Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds.” First published in 1841, his book chronicles in sixteen chapters examples of crowd psychology with some of the notable economic and social foibles of the past. The Preface includes his observation that: “We find that whole communities suddenly fix their minds on one object, and go mad in its pursuit: that millions of people become simultaneously impressed with one delusion and run after it, til their attention is caught by some new folly more captivating than the first.” One colorful example became known as Tulipomania. Current climate change hysteria fits that same observation. We can wonder what the next mass wave of catastrophic concern might be. Today the internet and social media provide the tools of instant mass incitement to a public sensitized to emotional impacts rather than scientific argument.

Mr. SpongeBob is laughing his square pants off.

Ayock undoubtedly grew-up watching Sponge Bob TV. It’s probably still a popular show for her and her office staff.

Children who have never been exposed to opposing views have a great confidence in their knowledge.

The Osman empire put this principle to a great use. Janissaries were levied from Christian families through devşirme. The child had to be ideally between 8 and 10, though between 6–18 was possible if the child looked particularly talented.

They were converted to Bektashism, a branch of Islam highly influenced by Turkic Shamanism and Orthodox Christian philosophies. They became fearless warriors in the service of Islam.

‘students marching in uniform support of “saving the earth” as it spins inexorably towards a proclaimed fiery death in 12 years.’

About 30 years ago, flying out to San Diego, at 30 some thousand feet, I was struck by how tiny Man is. Great cities appeared flat.

Now I imagine an astronaut orbiting the moon, looking back at earth. Even the great cities couldn’t be resolved without optics.

And yet Man is going to bring a fiery death to earth?

Here’s a clue: Earth don’t care. We are nothing. This big old dirt ball will keep flying around the sun NO MATTER what we do.

They need to settle down to a humble, low carbon life style, like pious priests who give up fossil fuels, and the comfort and enjoyment thereof, to take vows of not being hypocrites, oh wait since the earth will end in 12 years (they rationalize) just go ahead and enjoy what is left of fossil fuels, what the hell it won’t matter, except make the climate faithful look like FLAMING HYPOCRITES. They are unhinged deluded loonies.

all the while our solar system keeps circling the center of our galaxy, while our galaxy continues expanding through the reaches of infinite nothingness. until it meets and marries other galaxies which will continue the near endless march until all the stars in the universe blink out and then maybe it will all compress like a big rubber band and the bang will become big again. “We” will be long extinct by then.

The renewed efforts from the Chicken Littlists on this generation to indoctrinate them into a cult is going to backfire big. I’m pretty sure they’re going to remember this vividly 12 years from now after they see that none of their efforts did anything yet the Earth is still here.

But, but, but ……. the massive amount of lefty liberal socialistic “greeny” enviro political support now (2019) being enjoyed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders and several current POTUS candidates, ….. is being lauded upon said politicians by members of Generation X: Born 1965-1980 (38-53 years old), … Millennials: Born 1981-1996 (22-37 years old) ….. and Post-Millennials: Born 1997-Present (0-21 years old) ……. who were all once children themselves and their nurtured beliefs during their young, formative years are still recorded in the DNA of their brain neurons …. and thus still control and/or influence their present day conscious thoughts and verbal/physical actions.

Be afraid, ….. be very afraid, …… of what the children are being “brainwashed” (nurtured) to believe is “truth n’ fact”.

I tell people that I am not convinced that something that went from 0.035% of the atmosphere to 0.040% of the atmosphere can alter the climate. I also tell people that I will take man-made climate change a little more seriously when their predictions improve to 1%. (And I highlight that phrase ‘improve to’.)

Half the hapless can’t think for themselves, so they mimic, they parrot others, the truth perpetually escapes them, they make the same mistakes repeatedly throughout history, they have not an argument – just aspersions and continuous fear mongering. Leftist media and public schools indoctrinating children with CAGW propaganda is tantamount to child abuse.

No moral and ethical society would allow such child abuse, but alas..

But alas, ….. what goes around comes around …… and history has done begun to repeat itself.

The rise of the Roman Empire instigated the civilization of Western Europe, …. and then the “swamp critters” took control and the Roman Empire collapsed and Western Europe descended into a thousand years of The Dark Ages.

Then the Renaissance and the Enlightenment era “bloomed” through the 14th thru the 17th centuries, with the New World (America) being discovered and populated.

But alas, the “swamp critters” have again taken control of most of Western Europe and most of the New World (both North and South America).

And the “swamp critters” have and maintain control over the beliefs & actions of the “have-nots”, who breed faster than the “haves”, which will eventually cause descent into another 1,000 years of Dark Ages.

The terribly sad thing about all this is that the schools and then the Universities through out most of the developed world teach children and young adults this garbage about climate change.
There is no alternative view allowed as the educators believe the meme.
“The science is settled and 97% of scientists cannot be wrong ”
Facts don’t count that the earths temperature now is lower than during the MWP the Roman Warm Period and the earlier climate optimum .
What these children are taught is pure propaganda so who are we to be critical of their actions .
I just hope that Will Happer and his team will be able to bring some truth to this scam that is now called “climate change”
I would almost guarantee that the media in the US will give very sparse coverage of the hearings and here in New Zealand there will be none whatsoever as our media are 97% certain that CO2 is to blame and that fossil fuels have to go.

I see no reason to rely on school children’s dictats. Among other brain changes they are undergoing is varied hippocampus subregion changes; with a trend toward increased subregion volume until age 13-15, followed by some decrease in teens.

The hippocampus subregion CA2/3 & CA4 are keyed to cognitive ability. The hippocampus is integral to prediction, emotional behavior & imagination.

Unlike in late childhood, when their volumes are increasing & cognitive ability is kicking in, during late adolescence the volume is decreasing in hippocampal CA2/3 & CA4. There are other brain structures than the hippocampus with age related changes as well, but for brevity I am not highlighting those.

The above is as per free full text (2017) available online reporting on MRIs’ revealing “Longitudinal development of hippocampal subregions from childhood to adulthood.”

Gringojay, …. do ya pose one could use them thar MRIs’ for revealing the development of the PC’s brain (Intel processor chip) from its “childhood” in 1971 to its current adult status herein 2019?

Iffen dem MRIs’ can track the “imagery” of human brain development, ….. then doing the same for Intel Processor chips should be easy as “duck soup” …. because the brain’s synaptic “wiring” and memory storage units (neurons) are far. far, far more minute and complex than anything Intel can generate.

The education systems are to blame. The tick box multiple choice answer options, now common place on exam papers ensures even random answers from ignorant students are right sometimes.
I was recently talking to a school inspector, she (it is mostly shes these days) was convinced man made global warming from burning fossil fuels will destroy humanity, destroy the future. After I pointed out, the numbers suggest otherwise. Her initial come back was we are running out of fossil fuels, we have to find alternatives anyway, so why resist clean energy?
I mentioned nuclear energy as a clean safe alternative for electrical generation. She almost turned purple, desperate to tell me she had not camped out at Greenham Common in 1982 for nothing, and was not going to allow any nuclear options, thank you very much.
At this point I senses the gap in our positions might be unbridgeable. I asked if all school inspectors shared her passion and was it common in the schools she oversees.
“Yes of course” she replied “97% of all scientists hold my view why would I not promote scientific fact”?

The task ahead of us is Herculean.
It used to be called CND, now it is called GND. The COGS, (Constantly Offended Green Socialists), continue grinding away, smashing truth and never once questioning there own role.
The social media communications options, currently available for information exchange both good and bad will I fear, be censored. Only the one side of the AGW/Man Made Climate Change will be allowed air. The BBC and the Guardian already have that as a policy. No one who challenges man made climate change, is given space or air time.
The big international terrorist style events will be used as the reason to control all social media output. We are in very troubling times.

Those children and their parents should look at the Kiehl & Trenberth Earth energy budget(1) and ask themselves two questions :

“(1) Shows that the atmosphere loses 165W/m² by radiating infrared into space. How could it be without gases able to emit (and hence absorb) in the infrared spectrum (which by definition are “greenhouse” gases) ? See (2)”

“On the other hand (1) shows that “greenhouse” gases absorb some 350 – 324 = 26W/m² of the upward infrared flux emitted by the surface, much less than the radiative heat they lose into space :
– So, what can we conclude about the global effect of “greenhouse” gases on the atmopsheric temperatures ? Hint, see (3)”

(1) :
– Kiehl & Trenberth – 1997
(2) :
– Modest 2003 – Radiative Heat Transfer – Chap. 10 “Radiative Properties of Molecular Gases” :
– in order to study atmospheric infrared radiation, one has to take into account each absorption/emission band of each “greenhouse” gas. Atmosphere do not behaves neither as a black body nor as a gray body. “Greenhouse” gases are the only way for the atmopshere to absorb / emit in the infrared spectrum.
– Kondratyev 1969 – Radiation In The Atmosphere

(3) :
Hint : let’s take account of this (simplistic – see (4), the paradox below) analogy :
– the Earth’s surface is the inside of your house,
– the Atmosphere is the walls, the (closed) windows and the roof of your house,
– the Space (vacuum) is the outside, in Winter.

– “Greenhouse” gases are the only way for the atmopshere to lose heat into space (see (2)). In the same vein, thermal conductivity is the only way for the walls, closed windows, roof to lose heat in the winter.
-In this analogy, suppressing “greenhouse” gases amounts to removing any thermal conductivity of the walls, the windows and the roof of your house :
– hence, to totally isolate the inside of your house from the Winter colder temperatures outside (no more heat transfer from the inside to the outside). Hence, all other things being equal, to warm the inside of your house.

(4) : Paradox :
– so, why, even if they conduct heat, the walls, the closed windows and the roof help the inside of your house stay warm in the winter ?
– because they stop convection (by which mixing of the inside air with the outside cold air would take place),
– conversely, the atmosphere is where convection take place. Just open a window to see how fast your room will cool in a cold Winter day !
This is where the above analogy reaches its limit :
– walls, closed windows, roof stop convection where atmosphere favors it.

Its not just children being abused inside this thing – old folks are too…
From reading what he says, poor old Attenborough appears to have totally ‘Lost It’

Otherwise, this essay is trying to normalise the abnormal and dysfunctional.
Its been going on for a long time, hence = The Madness of Crowds…..

But but but you say, it HAS been going on a long time, THAT is how ‘people’ behave.
Are you REALLY sure about that?
Do other critters on this Planet, ANY OTHER critters, engage is what is damn near suicidal behaviour?

Oh you say, we are Human, we have Big Brains. We can think about a lot of things.

I would counter by saying that the Big Brain should keep us OUT of this kind of lunacy. The Big Brain should protect us and keep us from stepping off the kerb and thence under a truck.

But no, we keep doing it.
Just like a drunk wandering his way home from the pub. A safety hazard to himself and a lot of others on his way.

Ah but you say, we are not all drunk all the time.

Ah but I say, there is a depressant chemical out there, not as potent as alcohol certainly BUT, consumed in vastly greater quantities,

And I go even further (you know me), I assert that it is the (agricultural) production of that chemical that is causing..
1) Much of the observed CO2 increase
2) All of the observed ‘Climate Changes’
3) Leakage and loss of (soil) nutrition causing the observed Global Greening.

See it in the Mid-West right now with the flooding there- what is all that mud doing on city streets, roads, railtracks, inside houses and simply EVERYWHERE in places it shouldn’t be….

There is your problem and there is, yet again, the looming End Of Civilisation.

As we read here though, many people have lost it already.
We ARE in the midst of an Ehrlichian extinction, its just that nobody expected it to be be like this…

I propose that the children should give up their smartphones, videogames, movies and music for the good of the Earth. Protests should be encouraged, but instead of doing them in the middle of the schoolweek, they should do them during weekends. And during the protests, the children should also pick up any trash and dog poops they find. I’m sure they will be very enthusiastic after this.

Seriously though, what a joke. Nobody cares about climate change, because no one is truly willing to do what is necessary to reduce CO2. All they do is virtue signaling and empty posturing.

I also think that using children for political purposes is deeply immoral, and it should be outlawed. Children are completely at our mercy. They will believe what we tell them. Childrens crusade, Hitlerjugend, communists, child soldiers are all examples of what happens when adults brainwash their children. Children aren’t capable in making complex decisions. That’s why we don’t let them vote, or drive a car, but these climate protests are suddenly ok? Alarmists say that we shouldn’t listen to William Happer because he isn’t “qualified” enough, but listening to green politicians, activists, and children is ok? And of course our useless mainstream media never questions these things.

Well propaganda never sleeps… especially when it needs to reach teens:
Take this new release: https://www.cbcmusic.ca/posts/21060/grimes-announces-new-album-miss-anthropocene

After promising fans that new music was “imminent” last year, Canadian electro-pop artist Grimes has announced her new album, Miss_Anthropocene.
Grimes took to social media to make the announcement on Tuesday evening because she wanted to get ahead of her “first interview in a few years” that was published today on the Wall Street Journal Magazine.
Included in her post were the definitions of the words “misanthrope” and “Anthropocene,” the two words she combines for her album title. She goes on to detail this new concept album which is about “the anthropomorphic goddess of climate change: a psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/beauty-queen who relishes the end of the world. She’s composed of Ivory and Oil.”

Grimes concludes her post with a note on climage change, a topic that appears to be heavily explored on the new album. “Climate change is something I’m only ever confronted with in a sad/guilty way,” she wrote. “So my goal is to make climate change fun (lol..??) […] So maybe it’ll be a bit easier to look at if it can exist as a character and not just abstract doom.”

And this gets a full article from the WSJ magazine…
https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-life-and-death-of-grimes-11553084548

The Life and Death of Grimes
As she readies the release of her new album, Grimes—who now goes by ‘c’—opens up about her influences and relationships, and why she’s decided to kill off her musical persona

Hollywood, pop music industry promotes, helped by the usual broadcasting proselytes like the CBC… All to imprint the notion of Anthropocene in teens minds. You can be assured that a pop artists coming up with Adjustocene would not get the same coverage…

This brain washing of uninformed children is despicable. Those responsible for the education of children should be presenting a balanced view that reflects all aspects of an argument not simply the now rejected view of doom and gloom of the melting Himalayan glaciers (that haven’t melted), the rising ocean waters (that have not yet risen), the permanent drought in California (just when there have been record snow falls this year), the decrease in incidence of hurricanes when an increase was predicted and the same supposed melting of the Greenland glaciers (which have not of course melted). There are many more and even the IPCC has said (in its small print of course) that the climate is chaotic and cannot therefore be forecast; finally we have recent proof that the so called feedback alarmism is faulted – they used the wrong mathematics. Why then is any school promoting global warming? Why are the scientific institutions suppressing evidence?

March 24, 2019 12:41 am

These engineered “strikes” are akin to what Boorstin called “pseudo events.”
