Bill Nye “the Science Guy” has another global warming prediction — Americans will have to grow their food in Canada if nothing is done to limit temperature rise.
“The agriculture in North America is going to have to move north into what would nominally be Canada and we don’t have the infrastructure,” Nye told MSNBC host Chris Matthews Tuesday night.
“We don’t have the railroads and roads to get food from that area to where we need it around the world,” Nye warned.

Bill Nye says global warming will mean America needs to grow its crops in Canada:

Nye made his remarks as freezing temperatures descended over much of Canada and the U.S., bringing below-zero temperatures across the Midwest and Great Plains. When wind chill is factored in, it really feels like -53 degrees Fahrenheit to Minnesota residents.

In Chicago, the temperature hit -22 degrees Wednesday morning, with a wind chill of -47 degrees. Officials are warning residents to stay indoors and avoid the dangerous cold.

More than 220 million Americans are experiencing below-freezing temperatures across the lower-48 states, according to meteorologist Ryan Maue. About 26 million people are living with temperatures at or below -20 degrees.

Nye also told Matthews rural Americans have been “hoodwinked” into believing getting rid of fossil fuels would hurt the economy.
“I claim that the people in rural areas are affected perhaps even more than people in urban areas, and they’ve been hoodwinked,” Nye said. “They’ve been led astray by this group of like-minded people who feel that the economic effects of getting away from fossil fuels are going to be catastrophic, but that is just simply not true.”
However, coal and natural gas are providing roughly 80 percent of the electricity needed to keep the power and heat on in the Midwest, according to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator that manages the grid.

So rural Americans are simple and stupid?
Sophisticated, college indoctrinated, folks in the coastal urban areas are easier to hoodwink. smart fools
Farmers order gasoline and diesel delivered to their farms to store in on-site above-ground and buried tanks (we did). They know ever too well how their livelihood will be harmed by rising fuel costs or forced renewables by the greens.
Once again, the downside doesn’t seem all that bad. If the worst of all scenarios comes to pass, a vast wilderness of frozen tundra with rich, virgin soil is available for farming. People will migrate North to Saskatchewan and Alberta instead of South to Florida and Texas.
But oh no! It will never work because there are no roads or railroads up there! I guess we’d better build those 350,000 wind turbines then…
Politicians, either they are brain dead scumbags or they are corrupt/criminal to the bone.
but you repeat yourself!
C. Both of the above
“Corrupt, incompetent or both?” I mutter this a lot.
Mr Nye is a clown. A paid clown in a costume with a bow tie, reading a script. The man has neither the learning nor the intellect to understand that he is a paid shill for ecofascism. Without his script, he is nothing.
I agree J.H., and along with the world’s academic, entertainment, governing and media elites his ignorance on this issue is fascinating and dominates his “thinking”.
Here in Canada he will get lots of media play for this. CBC radio/tv, CTV, TVO Agenda, The Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail….when it comes to “Climate Change” Nye is still the go to guy.
Forget about Canada…….

If Nye predicts it, then I feel certain it won’t happen.
So, it won’t be Canada any more? Nye is going to take it over?
The Queen may have something to say about that…
I seem to recall from my history reading that the Aborigines in Mexico bred corn in the first place. Mexico still grows plenty of corn and beans despite being warmer and closer to the equator than the U.S.
People practicing the Alarmist Global Warming religion cannot be reasoned with. Anyone who attacks their religious faith is committing a mortal sin, and is to be shunned as an evil heretic., They even use the same LANGUAGE as Paul used in his letters- just as Paul referred to wicked Christ deniers, those practicing the global warming faith refer to wicked CAGW deniers. They even adopted the obsolete Christian practice of purchasing indulgences, called “carbon credits” in the new religion.
Here is an example from “Quora”
https://www.quora.com/How-do-you-respond-effectively-to-climate-change-deniers/answer/Daniel-Kinch-2
“It is pointless to try and respond to climate change deniers…..People don’t have time to persuade the unbelievers.”
“However, coal and natural gas are providing roughly 80 percent of the electricity needed to keep the power and heat on in the Midwest,”
Renewables’ advocates should be challenged to explain how the region would fare with its power generation shifted in their direction under a future polar vortex.
Most of the remaining 20% is from nuclear, hydro, and geothermal.
Wind and Sun is a tiny fraction, and on very cold night and days may be near zero percent of power generation.
I blame HD tv for all these botox presenter types. Nothing much is moving on the outside for this self-styled science guy and the toxins seem to have seeped into his brain. Northing much moving on the inside either.
Everything 97% rock solid.
Aside from being idiotic because of “science” he speaks as if it is just assumed that that would happen. We are already growing food. You can buy some if you’d like..
Uhuh, I’ll go warn the blueberry farmers east of me who are growing two crops a year one hundred miles South of Cairo Egypt.
The only reason we don’t grow two wheat crops a year down here in Florida is the soil isn’t any good for mechanized agriculture. If you look globally there are a dozen nations that grow wheat, barley and other staples right on the equator without any trouble.
The corn-yield map at https://wattsupwiththat.com/2019/01/21/co2-and-crops-nas-vs-science/ seems relevant to Mr. Nye’s thesis.
Bill Nye, the bow-tie guy.
Makes me want to give away my collection of bow ties for fear of being associated with Nye
If the US only had renewables, thousands would be dead already.
No. Millions would have died during this cold snap without energy for heating. They would have gone to sleep and never woken.
The survivors would be found huddled around the burned ashes of their furniture.
Bill will have to explain why Canada buys almost $1 billion in agricultural products from Florida every year….
And every Winter, Florida rents a few million Canadians for a few months.
How many from the US spend a few months of every year in Canada?
I suppose farmers in North Dakota could always switch to bananas when it grows to hot to grow oranges.
“We don’t have the infrastructure” is classic misdirection on the part of Bill Nye the Doofus Guy.
Bill Nye the lying guy
Senile. It’s tragic.
We are fortunate in our foes. If Bill Nye didn’t exist we would make him up.
Dumber than a bag of spanners.
Obviously by his line of reasoning they can’t grow food in the tropics – except that they can.
Not only does Nye not understand climate, he doesn’t understand agriculture and roads, either. In 1958, I moved to northern Minnesota. I lived literally on Highway 2. I could sit on my front porch and throw a rock across it. Highway 2 stretched from North Dakota to Duluth. It carried so much grain from the fields of North Dakota to awaiting ships at Duluth, that grain simply spilled from the trucks altered migratory bird habits along the route. That’s right, Mr. Nye, BOATLOADS OF GRAIN, SHIPPED ATOUND THE WORLD, MORE THAN HALF A CENTURY AGO. The roads are much, much better, now.
There were roads into Canada, too, many of them. They ranged from dirt roads to broad highways. A good paving crew could turn them from dirt roads to super highways in a couple of weeks. From the Rockies to Winnipeg there are not even bridges to be built. (Canada might need to build walls, though.)
Now I live in Southern Texas, a good 25 degrees F warmer, on average. In Minnesota, the farmers needed corn to be “knee high by the Fourth (of July). Here, the corn can be knee high by the fourth (of March). Vast plains of grain grow in both places. A couple of degrees warmer in Canada will open up even more vast plains there. It might possibly alter the varieties of crops grown here, but with our rich farm lands, and abundant rains, it will certainly not turn the farmlands into deserts.
My little lady friend just asked ” How stupid could one person be ?”
After watching the video above, now she knows..
Nye is utterly clueless and narcissistically foolish.
All press and fan attentions are great and glorious, who cares about reality and real people.
A) Anti-science guy Nye totally ignores all of the crops grown throughout the world’s tropics and sub-tropics.
B) CAGW alarmists make these threats regularly, but are unable to demonstrate or prove any impacts to temperate crops based on temperature changes allegedly caused by CO₂.
C) Anti-science guy Nye is oblivious to all of his previous failed predictions and dodgy faux science.
