A Happy and Merry Christmas to all WUWT readers from Josh and Anthony. It has been a fun year in the climate debate and while many who are close to me know that 2015 has been a year of great personal cost, I hope 2016 will prove to be a year of renewal and growth. For all of our readers around the world, Josh provides this cartoon:
For those few readers that prefer to wage a war of vitriol and hate in your comments here and elsewhere, or by your deeds (and you know who you are), in case you missed it, this post pretty well sums up how I and many climate skeptics deal with such things. Merry Christmas to you too.
Along those lines, the Josh-WUWT calendars are still available for a short time, you can use them to spread the climate skeptic message through humor, rather than hate.
Finally, my sincere personal thanks to everyone who has helped me through this very difficult year, be it by notes of encouragement, helping moderate the site, offering guest posts, or financial help such as getting me to AGU15 so that we could get valuable feedback on our publication, you have my sincerest and most heartfelt thanks. We have a community here that spans the globe, and that community has strength in numbers and in deeds.
Merry Christmas (or as you may say it in your country, see below) to all, and to all, keep up the good fight! – Anthony Watts

This song, one of my favorites, seems appropriate:
Addendum: My good friend John Coleman sends this message along via Facebook, I thought it well worth passing on…
And Merry Christmas to you and yours; and a happy new year to one and all.
I note that you tell us to be of good cheer as we deal with the alarmists and their many minions and sock-puppets. For one, I will try but it is real hard sometimes.
Be of good health Anthony, and try to listen to all the facts and all the theories — and be skeptical of the theories as all good scientists are. (that last is for all of us really)
Merry Christmas Anthony and wonderful Josh, and to all those who work for truth.
Merry Christmas Anthony and family and Josh and family!
Nice to see that the Christmas wishes were in so many languages, including the smaller ones which have trouble to survive in a Internetting world…
God bless you all and a very merry Christmas to you and yours.
People care about their heritage. The internet provides tools to help them preserve that. example
Merry Christmas Anthony, Josh and everyone 🙂
Merry Christmas to our host, his family and all frequenting the blog.
Христос се роди (Christ is born) !
Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous 2016 to all at WUWT and thank you to Anthony, Josh and all the contributors!
Feliz Natal! M-Xmas from Brazil!
Merry Christmas from the High Lonesome of NE Oregon -5C here, so no shorts of T-shirt.
( I have a cold…)
Merry Christmas to all, even those who would rather hear “Happy Holidays”!
Oh, what the heck: Happy Holidays too!
Hey, why not – it is Christmas.
Happy Holidays = Happy Holy Days….Me? I’m very agnostic but I was taken by the reading of a young woman at Kings College festival of carols and readings when she said: He seeks not thine, but thee. [humble].
Happy Christmas, Anthony, and all who look after you.
… and dear Harry Passfield, I am quite sure that that young woman would hasten to add (upon reading your comment), even if thee, you, had been the only one, the only one who would ever believe in Him, He still would have come. Just — for — you. You really do matter that much!
Merry Christmas and have fun with your grandson and rest of the family,
Janice
John,
I say Season’s Greetings to non-Christians and Merry Christmas to Christians. Happy Holidays is too PC for me. Season’s Greetings predates the abominable PC era.
TG,
I’m from NE Oregon, too, but the balmy lowlands, where it’s currently just freezing, however I’ve strayed far from God’s Country. I gather that regular commenter here Pamela Gray also hails from where your daddy hunts or hunted.
I understand, Gloateus Maximus. Except, to be “politically” correct, in the US, since the Government’s political Office of Management and Budget has recognized “Christmas Day” a Federal Holiday, the proper greeting would indeed include the word “Christmas”. Most other US National Holidays get the adjective “happy”, such as Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Fourth of July, and we even say Happy Birthday, but traditionally we go with “Merry” instead for Christmas. So, it would appear that the “Politically” correct greeting would be “Merry Christmas”.
Merry Christmas and here is a donation to your tip jar..
Thanks for all you have done, Anthony. Noela we pîroz be, from Erbil.
Merry Christmas to Anthony, Josh, Mods, contributing posters and commenters. You make life more rich.
Feliz Navidad from New Mexico to Anthony and Family (and Josh and the rest of the “family”). Thanks to Anthony and “family” for this wonderful forum.
Bernie
Merry Christmas Anthony you have made a difference in the world. Thank you.
Terry and Hyon
Merry Christmas to you as well, and to everyone here!
At a recent neighbourhood pre-Christmas get-together I spotted a copy of Tim Flannery’s latest book of climate catastrophe ramblings on the hostess’s coffee table. I resisted the temptation to “accidentally” spill my beverage on the book, not being one to waste good drink. I did leave my plate on top of the book, just to hide it from view for a little while. As you say above, we have to keep up the good fight.
Merry Christmas!
Tidings of good will to you all.
John
Merry Christmas! (or “Happy Christmas” to those across the pond)
We have much to thankful for.
For those who don’t ascribe to “Christ”mas, enjoy the holiday anyway.
(Treat is as St. Patrick’s Day is treated here in the US. For a day everybody’s Irish! 😎
To Anthony Watts and Josh a very Merry Christmas.
A Merry Christmas to one and all. Please take a quiet moment to reflect on the goodness we celebrate this time of year. Let the battle wait just a little.
🙂 Today is a great Day!!
Merriest of Christmases!
Enjoy the full Moon as well.
Merry Christmas, Anthony and Josh, and thank you for your ceaseless work in bringing some objectivity to the Anthropocentric Global Warming narrative!
(A much more appropriate word than ‘Anthropogenic’, I think!)

HorshamBren,
That word is a great Christmas present. Thanks. I will start to use it often.
Best wishes to you and yours.

How about “anthropophobic climate change”?

May I take this opportunity to wish the climate scientists professor Chris Turney and his colleagues from Russian ship Akademik Shokalskiy, which became ice-bound in the Antarctic on Christmas Eve, a much happier anniversary and hopefully a Merrier Christmas.
(note to the mod: if out of order please delete).
Thanks, Vuk, and Merry Christmas to you, too! …
… And to Anthony, and all the millions of readers of WUWT.
This site is the antidote to the mass of head-nodding mouth breathers who are being led by the nose by the media, and the self serving vested interests in the bogus “climate change” narrative. We’re the enlightened ones, and our obligation is to spread the truth.
As Thomas Sowell writes:
“We’re raising whole generations who regard facts as more or less optional… They’re being taught that it’s important to have views, and they’re not being taught that it’s important to know what you’re talking about”
Merry Merry Christmas! A heartfelt thanks for your time and effort. It is no small matter this fight. It is no small matter the amount of time you have invested in it.
Merry Christmas and Thank You and all contributors for maintaining a great website from which we provide a healthy debate and indeed keep up the good fight!
Josh’s globe wears a warm Santa hat. No wonder the arctic ice is diminishing!
Anthony, I am amazed at the good work you have inspired to keep this globe sane regarding its climate.
Merry Christmas Anthony. If you’re ever back in the UK it’d be good to meet up again.
Merry Christmas everyone……I make a point of saying this as here in Canada we are overwhelmed with everyone saying “Happy Holiday”…..Don’t get me wrong I love the Canadian outlook on life and how friendly they are compared to back home in blighty, but it’s Christmas and even though I’m an atheist I’m sick and tired of this political correctness that seems to takeover and dumb down decades of tradition.
So MERRY CHRISTMAS to all…..enjoy!
Merry xMass to all. From whichever side of the ‘battle’ you are on.
Congrats on the recent work. So far what you been able to let out seems rock solid. I look forward to more data/information soon (and the confusion of others trying to deal with it).
Gelukkige Winterzonnewende
Merry Christmas. Thanks for a brilliant year and may the New year be as good.
Merry Christmas, Keep it positive!
Very Merry Christmas to my fellow meteorologist and skeptic!
The things most important to us often cost the most……….or at least cause us to stay committed to continually paying dearly for them. I can only imagine the price that you pay as the world biggest target for his authentic, science based views on carbon dioxide……. providing the world with it’s most widely followed skeptical blog.
Unlike the rest of us that share(and disagree with) your views here, who can pick and choose convenient times to visit, then go back to our lives, this IS your life.
The thousands of articles that have appeared here, read by many millions around the world……….for absolutely no cost to us but everything to/from you, makes you a profoundly generous human being on an elite scale……..with you at THE top.
Merry Christmas to all. Hope floats if we pause for just a moment. And sometimes, what we desire most is in our own backyards (occasionally right next to the BBQ/burn barrel and overturned metal boat sitting next to the temperature gauge).
Would that be another bottle of alcohol ?
Merry Christmas to everyone.
A Merry Christmas to you all and I’m thankful for what you do here.
Merry Christmas to the entire Watts family and team and all the readers and posters.
Merry Christmas to all and much gratitude for WUWT.
for supper tonight I am grilling chicken schawarma (my daughter’s request)
not only is the chicken delicious, but I also get to fertilize the atmosphere from the grill

Merry Christmas all!
We’re having absolutely gorgeous perfect Christmas weather here. Warm, sun’s out….kids are in the yard playing with toys, adults in yard chairs outside yacking…all having a great time.
It’s a shame all the warmest can’t appreciate it…..they are all going to die because it’s global warming.
Merry Christmas Anthony et alii !
Happy holidays to everyone too!
May 2016 prove to be the best year Ever for everyone!

Merry Christmas to you Janice, glad to see you back and a prosperous 2016!
Merry Christmas, to you and to your dear family, Sybot. Thank you! My butterfly wings were kinda smashed up, but, I — AM — STILL — HERE! 🙂 Butterfly wings are very resilient, but, a big angry blast can send them off course… for a little while. May 2016 be your best year, so far!
Keep warm up there,

Well perhaps the weather hasn’t been quite that stormy, buy Neil had it right otherwise. I look forward to the memories to come as this, the best site there is, peels back the misinformation.
My best wishes to Anthony, and to you all, and of course – A Merry Christmas.

December 23, 2015
Unstoppable California Gas Leak Being Called Worst Catastrophe Since BP Spill
(ANTIMEDIA) Porter Ranch, CA — Methane gas continues spewing, unchecked, into the air over southern California from a fractured well to an underground storage site — at such an alarming rate that low-flying planes have necessarily been diverted by the FAA, lest internal combustion engines meet highly volatile gas and, well, blow the entire area to hell.
This is, indeed, the biggest environmental catastrophe since the BP Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010; and for now, there is no way to stop it.
This methane disaster is worse than can be sufficiently described in words, because while it’s estimated well over 100,000 pounds of methane spew into the atmosphere every hour, the leak can’t be halted, at least until spring. Even then, that stoppage depends entirely on the efficacy of a proposed fix — which remains a dubiously open question.
http://theantimedia.org/unstoppable-california-gas-leak-being-called-worst-catastrophe-since-bp-spill/
If the escaping methane is rapidly purged from the atmosphere and/or its effects on the climate are small, that should diminish the threat from warming permafrost.
Merry Christmas or God Jul from Sweden to Anthony and all of his readers !
To one and all: merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Thanks so much for all your efforts, Anthony and family.
Enough, you can’t force feed this wonderful spirit.
Why are bassists ALWAYS in the background?
Because that is where the booze is. 🙂
That cracked me up! I could never find it…
Here ya go, Patrick! A little Christmas present for a caring dad and BASSIST. If the bass player wasn’t standing out in front for this one… he should have been.

Praying for you. Easy to remember – I’m in the same boat with you!
2016 is going to be a GOOD year for us!

[The mods wonder if Janice will tire of fishing for deep compliments about her Goodyear of BASSIST handouts. .mod]
Oh, dear, Mods,
I, oh, wow. I had no idea that you all felt so similarly to how Alex feels about me. Thank you for putting it in much gentler words. Oh, boy. I have not been trying to flatter (just genuine praise/encouragement) or to fish for compliments, but, quite clearly, despite my intentions, that is how I come off. And there is nothing I can do about that (and still be “me”). Just a personality flaw I can’t “see.”
Thank you, .mod, for your honesty.
Since I cannot see myself as others see me (lol, you would not believe how differently I perceive myself from how you guys do! — pathetic, huh?), the only way to stop annoying you mods (and several other commenters/readers NO doubt, no doubt at all (I have data)), is to just cut out all the non-science commenting. I just don’t know HOW to not write (to encourage (or, lol, in MY mind, to entertain), I mean) any other way (except to imitate another and not be myself).
Well! 2016 will now be a better year for SOME of the WUWT community, for sure.
Yours most sincerely and with an apology for all the irritation I have caused you and others,
Janice
[‘Tis also been said, “To your own self be true”. That being so, continue being yourself, not others wish. .mod]
.mod!!! SMILING!!!

Okay! I WILL keep on being wonderful, enthusiastic, zany, obnoxious (to some), ME.
Watch out WUWT world — here I come.
Thank you.
Thanks for the video clips Janice. All the best to you…but I am not sure where the dad thing happened, I just look after my friends daughter while they are at work (Collect from school and help with maths).
Wooten is such a talent, not seen Malaman before. Both awesome. If only I had such talent I would be playing bass rather than being bored in IT. Maybe one day.
But most of my bassist inspiration comes from the likes of Waters from Pink Floyd, King from Level 42 and Squire from Yes (Now past away I believe). My bass is a Squire (Fender copy) “J” bass…and it plays well enough for me, only 4 strings though.
Hi, Patrick MJD,
Oops! (blush) I must have mixed you up with another commenter. I thought you were the guy who was doing his best to parent an ADHD son and I even prayed for you and him, lol (well, God must have chuckled at that). {sarc ON} (sly glance) Ooh, but Patrick… don’t you remember?? {sarc OFF} Don’t worry — Support Enforcement won’t be sending you a Summons for back child support. Yes, I recalled about your math tutoring of the family’s daughter — I’ll bet you ARE good at that. If you are a typical IT guy, you are a very patient and creative (and bright, that goes without saying — but I said it!! and too bad Alex, I LIKE TO COMPLIMENT PEOPLE — it is not flattery if it is TRUE) teacher. That has been my experience with IT people.
I hope that you take time (often!) to play that “J” bass (and listen to those bass greats you mentioned). I love that sound. When I had a good sound system, I always dialed up the bass and dialed down the treble a bit. Say! Have you listened to Russian or Ukrainian choral music? They usually include a basso profundo part (low, low bass) and the richness of their harmony overall cannot be surpassed.
Blah, blah, blah. Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed those videos.
Take care,
Janice
P.S. (to Patrick MJD) And the “in the same boat with you” is re: the “between jobs” boat.
I hope this works…
https://youtu.be/S_IG44WjnC4
It’s a bass cover (Meaning its a copy sound video for the track) of a great Level 42 track from about the mid-80’s with all the panic about acid rain etc. The bass riff is awesome…
Janice, thank you for your kind words. The girl I give care and maths lessons to does have ADHD issues too (Or is that she’s a right PITfA? Debateable.), and she is on medication for that, and it works most times, until she packs a sad-on, sheesh, watch out for that. Still a few “jabs” in the side has her giggling like an idiot (Me) and wobbling like a plate of jello (Strangely, me again). It is a rather sad story in fact. She had an operation (In the UK) when she was 2 on her heart for an issue with her aorta. She was starved of oxygen. So her physical and mental health issues are a direct result of medical malpractice.
But she still calls me Aunty Patsy! Go figure!
Patrick! Kah—oooouhl. Great bass riff. Thank you for sharing. Next time that plucky little girl gets the blues, play THAT for her — should make her smile (esp. if you dance to it, lol) … and call her “Grandpa Jillian {or whatever her name is}” — I’ve found that (from my limited first-hand experience with ADHD kids) ADHD (or just “ADHD”) kids usually have a WONDERFUL sense of humor. Yup. You proved my assertions about IT people above — that you took the time to respond to me = conscientious and kind…. and you are creative and caring (for that damaged-by-negligence child). I tell you, that is the MAIN ev1l, imo, of Government Medicine (if sovereign immunity makes the medical industry largely immune from medical malpractice). For all its egregious exceptional abuses, the American medical malpractice bar, while it cannot “make whole” a little girl like your family’s, does a lot of good (mainly by providing an incentive for excellent care… or else…, but, also by reimbursing medical expenses and providing some help with long-term care/compensation — and, imo, the cost of medical malpractice insurance (passed on to consumers, of course) is worth it).
I hope that 2016 brings not just a job, but an intellectually stimulating job that uses your skills and experience, and, most of all, your natural abilities in a wonderful new way. One door closed… another door to open… . AND A GREAT BASS-PLAYING WITH A BAND OPPORTUNITY (find a few guys… and a garage 🙂 ).
Praying for you,
Janice
Happy Christmas to all.
Merry Christmas Anthony and Josh and to all of the amazing people who teach me stuff every day here! I count you as gifts in my life!
Merry Christmas from Vallejo California, Unites States of America. Peace to everyone this day. The sun is so beautiful today with a big blue sky. God is smiling on us all.
Merry Christmas to Antony and all at WUWT. Let us take the mediocrity of the Paris agreements as a bonus Christmas present.
And my personal thanks to RichardSCourtney for the Christmas present.
Hope you are well and that you can check your email, answer your phone or call me somehow soon. I did send a present and I hope you like it.
Sorry about interrupting this thread with an intra-family message but I can’t seem to contact my father at the moment.
Dear Matt,
Just prayed. I know that with your dad’s health concerns his lack of response must have you very worried.
Take care,

Merry Christmas Anthony, Josh, moderators and contributors alike. Cheers and may your holiday meals be as gratifying as reading this blog. 🙂
Hello anthony. Been reading your blog for a number of years now and am incredibly impressed and grateful for all the work imputted. It has educated me to the point where I try and encourage some people i meet to consider that the consensus is not whats its cracked up to be but the brainwashing is now so embedded that to try and distil the anti consensus message in a brief format is all but impossible. I hope you and those dear to you have a good year upcoming and better than it appears 2015 was. Best regards. Eoin. Dublin

But that is just my opinion…on the interweb…thingy, what?! Get off the computer? Aww mom? When I was growing up I played with something else. Get your minds out of the gutter. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all, especially to Anthony and the WUWT team including Josh and his satire sharp yet devoid of rancor.
Merry Christmas to everyone here on WUWT. I will probably never meet any of you face to face, but I would like to extend my best wishes to you all, for the wonderful articles and comments posted here. I hope 2016 will bring health and happiness to you, your families and loved ones, wherever you are on this earth, you call home. This is especially so for you Anthny. Many thanks for bringing us all together.
Eamon.
…Awesome job boss… !!!!
Gud Yul!
Merry Christmas to you Anthony and to all the moderators.
Now see, Alsatian, Frisian, Feroise and Low Saxon. This calls for Bavarian– Cene veinåhd und a guads nais!
Like I always say, you’re not German if your ancestors left before 1871! 😀
Thanks more than you can know for the wonderful columns and conversations, and the excellent paper on the NOAA adjustments to all of the class 1 and 2 temp sites. May your good labor and work continue to be a strength and a blessing in these confounded times.
I hope every single one of you have the most wonderful year yet.
PS I always wonder why the Zarathustrians were the only ones who knew what was going on.

Daniel was put in charge of the Magi. Some of them remembered some of what he taught.
“What a Wonderful World” closed out the TV series version of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” It was totally out of character with the rest of the series, but it was a brilliant choice.
Thanks, I am in the mood for watching something like that.
Merry Christmas to all, and high hopes that we gain ground in our continuing argument in this upcoming year.
Merry Christmas Anthony and contributors. Thanks for the articles and the interesting, and often thought-provoking, comments. Have lurked on the site for a couple of years and appreciate the efforts made to restore faith in the concept and principles of scientific inquiry.
Seasons greetings and a happy new year to all at WUWT from Vancouver Island BC!
And a big shout out to all my fellow lurkers who come here, we may not say much, but we are watching and looking for truth.
Lance, I share your sentiments here on Salt Spring
Thanks so much, Anthony et al.
One more for the road
After all the lights and all the bows
No longer promise brightly
After all the songs and all the bells
Fall silent as the night
I wish you love
Though be blushes under mistletoes
And warm hellos but embers
When all the hearths and hearty smells
And farewells fade to dim
I wish you love
As life once more in traffic flows
And heralds lose their smile
When once again time’s teller tells
To earth we must return
I wish you love
As gift the hand and heart bestows
Become but things to keep
And lines and walls and citadels
Grow real and hard again
I wish you love
To all my friends and all my foes
Of thought or word or war
To all bound souls in chains or hells
Whom I cannot set free
I wish you love
Our lives are as the candle glows
Not boxes we might flatter
Though strength my heart for breaking spells
Nor webs that hold can offer
I wish you love
That is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read.
Thank you, esp. if you are the author, JohnKnight.
As Charles Dickens wrote over 150 years ago; “God bless us, every one!”
Anthony, you and Lord M are heroes …thank you for giving us hope in a crazy world.
And one more to round out with the antipodes:
Bonza Xmas
Anthony, you (and the commenters) have made my otherwise ordinary Christmas most memorable and joyful. A conservative and skeptical radio show here in Greenville closes out the week on Friday evening with “it’s a Wonderful World,” and I can’t help but feel optimistic listening and singing along. WUWT is my first view every day and a highly appreciated source of honest, scientific, and civil discourse. Is there a way I can send support for your work producing the NOAA “adjustment” paper? Merry Christmas and Season’s greetings to you, Josh, site managers, your families, and all the entertaining and inspiring commenters to WUWT.
Here is another rendition of ‘it’s a Wonderful World’
Thanks! Brought a tear to my eye.
1. Click on “Donate” or “Fling Funds” below “Shameless Plug” in the upper half of the right margin of this page (just under the ad for the CLIMATE CHANGE: THE FACTS book ad.
2. Click on “Monitor Your Own Climate” (on right margin of this page) — that will take you to Anthony’s business site, weathershop.com where clicking on “Company Info.” will get you to a page with his business address: http://www.weathershop.com/companyinfo.htm
Hope that was helpful.
Thanks much, Janice.
You’re welcome, Louis. Your question was a good one — maybe OTHERS will give, too.
And, thanks for letting me know. I spent over an hour answering {name deleted — changed my mind, heh} the other day on a Lord Monckton thread… only to discover she did not (as far as I know, anyway) care one fig to know the answer. I just hope she doesn’t change her stage name …, for she is sure to ask another fake question in the future. Meh, it did me good to write it out, huh? Anyway! Glad YOU let me know!

Merry Christmas Anthony, Josh, Mods and all 🙂 Annie
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
Belated Merry Christmas and best of health for the new year. It’s a learning experience for me. But, just where did those tittles come from?
Merry Christmas, whattsupwiththat. Thank you so much for putting our favorite two words into other languages. Yes, we will continue to fight against this hoax, scheme, plot, and against those who support it without even a clue why. It’s a mob mentality without the mental.
In old English usage there were two types of public holiday. The days given off for celebration of things to do with the country such as the Sovereign’s birthday were called High Days . Those days that were off work for Christian festivals such as Christmas and Easter were called Holy Days. This was contracted into the phrase High Days and Holy Days . Of course the “Holy Days” after lazy usage became Holidays.
I find it somewhat amusing that the politically correct, the strict atheists and agnostics are insisting on calling Christmas a “Holy Day”. But then being politically correct was never a logical pursuit; it is controlling thought by controlling language.
In modern times, there are also ‘Happy Days’ when we venerate The Fpnz.
Yes indeed, καλά Χριστούγεννα from me, let’s hope 2016 is the year all this ‘hokum’ is finally seen through and we can REALLY get back to the things we ought to be doing and not spending millions we don’t have on banning the gas we all exhale.
Happy Christmas everyone.
Thought you all would enjoy the modern interpretation of a weather station. I present a modern automated weather station complete with a nearby overturned boat/BBQ/burn barrel/AC unit (in this case loosely described as an attached satellite dish just below the unit).
http://weather.gladstonefamily.net/site/C9803
The LNB (Low Noise Block) at the focal point of the dish (The dish needs no power. The LNB gets power from the receiver, just like a normal TV antenna) would not cause any temperature difference. I don’t see any of the other items you say are there. But, yes, not good practice for weather reporting, but maybe that is where the signal was best. You can see a cable dragging off to the house in one image, which seems it might be in a radio trough.
Snow will build up on that dish (I know) and the sun reflecting off it will warm it. It could also change the ability to detect wind direction.
And the dish is the modern interpretation of debris often seen near Stevenson screens. You should check out the only other station in town. It sits atop an old windmill tower that still has some of its metal skins attached.
Is this station used in “climate data”. Maybe not.
Actually, thinking about it and looking again (I didn’t, I sorta have other issues going on) why on earth would someone mount a dish there and have 50m(+) of coax fed in to the house (Attenuation and signal loss). A dish would not be in a radio trough mounted on the roof, and maybe with only 10m of coax to the receiver. That’s just insane.
To the greatest bunch of best friends I’ve never met, Merry Christmas to one and all!
Merry Christmas from one of them 🙂
Anthony, Merry Christmas to you and all of the regular contributors and commenters on WUWT. I have greatly enjoyed this site over the years, and appreciate your efforts and sacrifices to keep it running. Every visit to the site is an educational experience for me. I rarely comment, because I usually find that what I would have said has already been covered by someone who is more of an expert than I. However, in this case, I want to join all of the other commenters in wishing you a Merry Christmas, and a wonderful 2016.
No one could have said it better. 🙂
(and do comment more often… as John Hultquist would say, “You know things. Share.” EVEN IF it was already said, you have your own unique take on it AND if it is important, it is worth repeating)
“as John Hultquist would say, ‘You know things. Share.'”
Or as Will Rogers said, “Everybody’s ignorant. Only on different subjects.”
Comment and help make the rest of us a bit less ignorant. 😎
And I’ve heard tell that even experts can stand a bit of reassurance now an then, Terry ; )
Merry Christmas! God Bless. 2016 will be our best year yet!
Merry Christmas and a HNY to all…
Enjoy….. 🙂

Thank you that is quite inspiriting!
Merry Christmas to all the millions of WUWT readers (257 million and counting!…). This site is the antidote to the head-nodding mouth breathers who are being led by the nose, by the media and the self serving vested interests pushing the bogus “climate change” scare.
Gunga Din quotes some smart folks:
“You know things. Share.” And: “Everybody’s ignorant. Only on different subjects.” Comment and help make the rest of us a bit less ignorant.
Scientific skeptics are the enlightened ones, and our obligation is to spread the Truth. The more we tell folks the truth, the more that head shaking will take the place of head-nodding (and maybe they’ll even start breathing thru their nostrils like God intended…)
To quote Thomas Sowell:
“We’re raising whole generations who regard facts as more or less optional… They’re being taught that it’s important to have views, and they’re not being taught that it’s important to know what you’re talking about.”
Too many people assume that they know what they’re talking about just because someone with a bow tie like Bill Nye says, “Climate change is real!” as if it’s a revelation. Or someone like Michael Mann with a fake Nobel Prize fabricates a scary chart. Those aren’t ‘facts’, and they’re not the truth. “Climate change is real!” is just a meaningless phrase that you could teach to a parrot.
Skeptics should demand answers. We should give the other side of the story. That’s what Anthony and WUWT do, and that’s why this is the world’s most popular climate site: all sides of the ‘climate’ debate can give their facts and opinions here. Then readers can decide. People want to make up their minds based on facts after reading all the arguments.
We should post facts and evidence on other sites, too. Post them far and wide; when people understand that what we’re currently seeing is nothing unusual, and certainly not unprecedented, they begin to question other scare stories. Knowledge makes a difference.
So thanks to Anthony and all the millions of readers and commenters here (1.6 MILLION reader comments in only 8 years!) This site is making a difference, and everyone contributes by reading, commenting, or doing both.
And to our pagan friends…
Merry Christmas! I hope Santa brought you what you always wanted… ☺ ☺ ☺
With my dyslexia, I always spell his name wrong. I never get a present from Satan. Maybe I should use the name St. Nick…I can’t possibly get that wrong, can I? Stinck?
Merry Christmas and Peace upon Meteorology, which is unable to understand that naval warfare made weather in winter 1939/40. Here’s why: http://1ocean-1climate.com/.
I am glad no-one posted links to Val Doonican…he’s a distant relative of mine. And the music WAS carp too!
lol (x about 4 x, for all the wit above — dyslexics have a heavy burden to carry, but, along with it, comes so much creativity… thanks for sharing it with us 🙂 ).
Goal for Patrick for 2016: Find an intelligent, kind, attractive woman to date and by next Christmas, you will get LOTS of Christmas presents!! 🙂 She will WANT to give them to you (and if she is worth spending time with long-term, she will notice what you enjoy doing and will buy accordingly… if she does not, then, that is your big clue that she is either too stupid or too self-absorbed (or a tightwad) and, thus, NOT “the one”). So, get workin’ on the “Christmas Test 2016”! Oh, and also how she treats your little student — THAT will be a big clue… .

Goal for Patrick for 2016:…”
See! Now this is where my dyslexia can get me in to trouble. I read that as “Gaol”…
Anthony, the year 2015 was a financial trouncing for myself as well! May 2016 be kinder to us both! Best, Chuck
