UN demands Australia stop mining coal

anthracite coalGuest essay by Eric Worrall

UN climate chief Christiana Figueres has stated that Australia must stop mining coal.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald;

Speaking at a conference in Melbourne on Wednesday, Christiana Figueres drew a parallel between Australia and the oil kingdom [Saudi Arabia] as countries that would need to diversify their economies as the world grapples with global warming.

Ms Figueres said ultimately Australia would have to move away from coal for environmental reasons and changes in global economic patterns. She said nobody was saying this would have to happen overnight, but the transition should be orderly, gradual and progressive.

‘”The science is very clear, there is no space for any new coal,” she said.

Ms Figures doesn’t have any specific advice about how Australia should fill the gigantic hole in her finances, which decommissioning the coal mining industry would create. Perhaps Ms Figures feels her job is simply to give us directives, to tell us what must be. The responsibility, the details of how her directives will be implemented, is someone elses problem.

“You represent a huge potential to lead the world into a very healthy economic diversification path. You haven’t figured out how to do that yet but that, my friends, is your homework.”

Ahhhh Tom Arup, another climate alarmist at the SMH. You will notice now that articles published by Arup, and Hannam, do not allow comments on their articles because every “fact” they publish can be easily refuted. Best to ignore Arup and Hannam IMO.

Anytime someone like Figueres makes such an obviously stupid, public statement, be assured of two things:
1) She’s a little tiny nothing, by her own devices and knows it
2) She’s one of the world’s biggest brown- nosers, trying to curry favor with those whom she considers her betters

Woolworths (Supermarket chain) have just made redundant 800 people. Holden (GM), Ford *AND* now Toyota will all stop making cars in 2016. That’s a lot of people, 10’s of thousands in fact, out of work in 2016. So election winning hopes for the LNP are not looking rosy. I doubt there will be another ALP/Green coalition in 2016 based on their 6 year history from 2007, but there is nowt queer as voting folk!

There was an election in the UK today. I did not vote. You can vote for the lesser of two (or more) evils, but it’s still voting for evil, right?

If Australia does stop exporting coal, China will simply ram up it’s interests in other countries. As I said before, while I was in Ethiopia in 2006/2007, I met up with geologists working for the Chinese exporing east Africa for resources. China is not backing away from coal/oil/gas anytime soon!

I tell you what, if Christiana Figueres organises a mass suicide of surplus to requirements UN bureaucrats and oversees its successful implementation then maybe Australia might be impressed enough to follow suit. If we don’t all starve to death the Chinese and the Indians at least will simply wipe us out and take over and frankly, who would blame them.

“UN demands Australia stop mining coal”. Australian coal goes mainly to poorer countries, giving the poor cheap energy. The UN is against this?? Speaking as an Australian who has lived and seen the benefits of cheap energy South East Asia.

The UN also wants 90% of the Earth’s population to stop breathing, as part of Agenda 21. That will directly stop almost 8% of man’s CO2 emissions in his breath. The UN is just a bunch of communist nutters.

Tony I think you are being very polite. We also exhale oxygen. If we didn’t we couldn’t do a successful CPR. On a lighthearted side, we have lots of indoor plants, especially during winter when I bring in lots of mine into an unheated house, usually stable at 15C, the lowest is 10C. Horticulturalists know, indoor plants also use up CO2 and exhale oxygen in return.
I think we better keep China in our good books, but thanks Eric for the article.

There is only one problem with this, the science is not clear.

Bugger off, LOL. Or get on yer ‘orse/bike and piss off – Eff off! That’s common though, so a more civilised answer to someone so ignorant, that might be better digested by them is ‘Really, would you cite your references please as we believe you are being grossly misled’. I don’t know why they bother to mention this type of tripe. Must be paid for it, because it is not only stupid and politically inspired, but coal ain’t that bad. The water they wash it in is a very excellent (and expensive) land organically approved fertilizer. Anyway China has its own coal fields, that are affected in areas by uncontrolled surface fires, that do more to pollute the atmosphere than a year’s emissions from all the cars and trucks in America. They can be put out but it costs billions to do it. India and Indonesia have the same problems.

The Aussies have homework. Perhaps they can write love songs?
Hey, true blue
Don’t say you’ve gone
Say you’ve knocked off for a smoko
And you’ll be back later on
Hey, true blue
Hey, true blue
Give it to me straight, face to face
Are you really disappearing
Just another dying race
Hey, true blue
True blue, is it me and you?
Is it mum and dad, is it a cockatoo?
Is it standing by your mate?
When he’s in a fight or just Vegemite
True blue, I’m asking you
Hey, true blue
Can you bear the load? Will you tie it up with wire
Just to keep the show on the road?
Hey, true blue
Hey, true blue
Now be fair dinkum, is your heart still there?
If they sell us out like sponge cake, do you really care?
Hey, true blue

Let her preach that kind of nonsense in Saudi Arabia. Wonder what the reaction would be. I am sure our friends from down-under will take it in stride, share a six pack and get on with their business.

Ms Figueres is sending the wrong message to the wrong people. She needs to talk to the Chinese owners of the coal.
*****************************************
A massive Chinese company that received a $25 million government grant to turn Latrobe Valley brown coal into briquettes [because we don’t know how] is looking at selling the resource back to Victoria’s power plants.
Allan Farrar, director of the company’s Australian subsidiary, told The Age it was exploring selling the brown coal briquettes it will make at a new demonstration plant within Australia as well as exporting them to China.
The project is backed by Shanghai Electric Power, a state-owned Chinese company valued about $1.7 billion.

In related news, it’s been a particularly bad hair day for UK climate liars Miliband and Davey, and the day’s barely started over there.

The UNHCR takes us to task over our Refugee Boat Policy. Compare the number of illegal boat arrivals and drownings off the shores of Northern Australia as to the number of people drowning in the Mediterranean. It use to be just as bad, but we’ve learnt not to listen to the UN. It is tough forcing back boats, but appearing humane was much worse.
What the UN climate chief is demanding is that Australia sacrifice a key export industry and forces countries dependent on coal to go elsewhere. For what? Affordable energy has lifted people out of poverty, and now the UN is saying no more.

The UN was not put in place to dabble in fake science. Why doe it not go back to its proper job and see to the elimination of terrorist states like ISIL that murder indiscriminately and terrorise the rest of the world?
Answer it is easier and more profitable to run scams like global warming, or the now switch sold product of climate change triggered by the non occurrence of that theoretical temperature change.

Sounds like she got her directive from Marine Officers, they never explain how to do what it is that they want you to, they just say “I would LIKE a bunker on that hill” and then leave it to the troops to figure out how to get the bunker built.

Did she also suggest Australia stop having people on the continent as well? She is a notorious population control proponent.
