UN climate chief Christiana Figueres has stated that Australia must stop mining coal.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald;
Speaking at a conference in Melbourne on Wednesday, Christiana Figueres drew a parallel between Australia and the oil kingdom [Saudi Arabia] as countries that would need to diversify their economies as the world grapples with global warming.

Ms Figueres said ultimately Australia would have to move away from coal for environmental reasons and changes in global economic patterns. She said nobody was saying this would have to happen overnight, but the transition should be orderly, gradual and progressive.
‘”The science is very clear, there is no space for any new coal,” she said.
Ms Figures doesn’t have any specific advice about how Australia should fill the gigantic hole in her finances, which decommissioning the coal mining industry would create. Perhaps Ms Figures feels her job is simply to give us directives, to tell us what must be. The responsibility, the details of how her directives will be implemented, is someone elses problem.
“You represent a huge potential to lead the world into a very healthy economic diversification path. You haven’t figured out how to do that yet but that, my friends, is your homework.”
Australia demanded in return that the UN diversify from their sole product of bullshit and providing highly paid positions in its bureaucracy to the offspring of corrupt elites.

How about gathering a few verifiably successful climate predictions under your belt before flapping your gums, woman.
Climate Predictions are successful if and only if they generate grants. Accuracy is nowhere in the definition of successful.
But first, every country in the EU must stop using coal. This means shutting down all coal-fired power stations, all steel mills and all cement plants. And the EU must also undertake to ban all of its imports of coal-generated electricity, all steel and components containing steel, as well as all cement products. Then, and only then, should Australia give due consideration to this asinine drivel.
Germany has been building new coal plants to replace the nuclear power plants that the Greens demanded they shut down.
Actually that is not quite true. The greens would have you believe that they closed the nuclear plants because of their concerns about Fukushima but they took that line to avoid having to admit that the real reason Germany had to close its nuclear plants was because its grid could not cope with the intermittence of wind coupled with the inability of nuclear to be ramped in the same way that gas and coal could be ramped when all of the German solar panels came online with absolute immediacy at about 10am in summer and went full blast until about 2pm meaning everything else had to be shut down very quickly and you cant do that with nuclear so it had to go under the guise of an intelligent response to Fukushima. California tried to ramp and nuclear facility and complete wrecked one of the reactors which made the plant unviable so Californians are now having to pay for the huge cost of decommissioning and at the same time losing one of their only viable Co2 free means of generating base load electricity. We forget that these greens are really very very smart they are capable of thinking way beyond the curve but of course diametrically opposed to reality. They have also tried to ramp hydro electric dams and that has turned very nasty as well caused real damage that now has to be measured on a daily basis, such good fun being green, create your own disasters, it all makes work for the working man to do, bring back Michael Flanders and Donald Swann would they have had fun with this bunch of moribund idiots.
All they need to do is stop subsidizing it – it’ll collapse on it’s own.

Yeah, no. Based on the share of power they produce, renewables receive more than 12 times the subsidies fossil fuels receive. And that’s being generous.

And no, not being taxed at 100% is not a subsidy.
If there is a mandated feed-in tariff above the wholesale market price for electricity, that’s a subsidy. You get paid cash you wouldn’t otherwise have received.
The last time Figueres was here PM Abbott suggested she was talking through her hat. I think he has Figures figured out! She hasn’t changed at all with her latest dictat.
Q: Diversify to what?
A1: Clean industry, like information technology, which needs massive amounts of electricity, which oops
A2: Tourism, which requires jet travel, which requires jet fuel, oops
A3: Light manufacturing, things like children’s toys, which require plastic, which requires petroleum, oops
A4: Agriculture, that’s a good clean industry, except for the chemicals, and the diesel, oops
Gotta love it when these know-nothing wannabes start spouting their prescriptions for the world, you couldn’t make this stuff up.
There job is to fly around the world saying things that sound good to them.
Actually making these ideas work is someone else’s problem.

Solution? Get rid of the UN. Short of that, tell the UN to forcibly place a large volume of silica granules in its metaphorical anus.

2. Each country abolishes the private banks operating in its territory and establishes, instead, a national bank which issues the currency of the nation and makes it available WITHOUT INTEREST, in the interest of the nation and its people and economy.
3. Economies recover and nations trade and prosper. Liberty flourishes across the globe. .
In the meantime, I think people should start getting interested in the Trans Pacific Partnership and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership TREATIES which are being negotiated IN SECRET, at the highest corporate and governmental levels, across the globe. So secret that the lengths even US senators have to go to in order to see these documents is astonishing – classified briefing, no cell phones, any notes to be handed in at the end of the document viewing. WTF?
I await the time Figueras and UN stop using fossil fuel at all. As long as they use it i believe they are happy that anyone care to dig or pump it up.
That’s why the UN communists want one world government. Them. Then they can issue dictats like the EU and send in their army when you don’t obey. If it was my country I would have arrested her for incitement to create economic damage and thrown her out.

People want a referendum regarding the EU, and I can fully understand why.
Funny. Now people are asking for a referndum. Heath took the UK in to the “Common Market” in 1973, without a referndum. Then in 1975, there was one, all based on political lies (No surprise there). And if Australia stops mining coal, then we shall have to cut down even more American forests. Drax, one of Europe’s largest coal power stations, is transitioning into a wood-burning stove – burning American trees by the million. And if the rest of Europe follows suit, we could turn the US into a wasteland….

The Aussies I’ve known have been a likeable bunch with a hard- headed independent streak a mile wide. Figueres’ dingbat pronouncement about coal mines down under will become the subject of many jokes and will be met with a resolute refusal to comply, along with a colorful reply to the UN along the lines of molon labe (come and take ’em.)
Ms. Figueres needs to go back to Costa Rica where her family is in control, unlike the rest of the world. Here father and brother both were president of Costa Rica at different times. Ruling by decree may work there. Not in the USA, Aussie or the english-speaking union (at least not yet).
