An urgent message from Santa
These green people never seem to learn. A couple of years ago it was nutball David Suzuki and his fundraising drive to “save” Santa’s home from melting:
Now, not to be outdone in the “please send money cuz Santa’s home is dying” meme, Greenpeace has produced a video that looks like a cross between the Blair Witch Project and Doomsday Preppers. Only one problem: it is so stupid even CNN is mocking it. Watch:
CNN has this story from Jeanne Moos that rips into Greenpeace for this video.
Moos characterizes the alarmists at Greenpeace and elsewhere as folks who “believe in global warming.” Their tendency to embrace human-caused climate doomsday scenarios (like Bad Santa hiding from climate change in the bunker) is akin to a religious belief, unaffected by the reality of observations and data.
In the CNN video, Moos quoted a commenter at the YouTube post of the Greenpeace video who wrote:
Hope that you are proud of yourselves green piece (sic) for scaring innocent children with your bully boy tactics as usual.
That’s right. CNN cited a critic of Greenpeace in its story. That represents amazing progress for truth (if not grammar) in MSM coverage of the climate issue.
Here’s another taste of Moos’ CNN-approved mockery of Greenpeace and what she said was a “sorry excuse for a Santa”:
It looks like a hostage video, but instead of Al Qaida, it’s Santa.
Ouch!
The kicker: When you put an email address into the website that Greenpeace is pitching in the video http://www.savesantashome.org/ it immediately becomes like the Obamacare website, asking for more personal information:
I wouldn’t wish being stuck in Greenpeace’s marketing database on my worst enemy.
Meanwhile, Arctic sea ice is within 1 standard deviation of normal:

The adults are waking up to them, so they have to target the kids. They always did, of course, but now the kids are their only chance at a future (for Greenpeace, that is).
If it’s good enough for Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, then it should be good enough for imaginary characters like “Santa Claus.”

..is this supposed to be some take-off on capturing Sadam?
You know, he does look like Saddam, when they found him in the spider hole. Not a jolly old elf at all!

30.6 degrees F and light rain north of Dallas, Tx … I think our ice storm might be ‘fo real’ this time …
Santa has moved his operations south to Minnesota – problem solved.
I’m actually having fun trolling in the greenpeace youtube entries, apparently they’re not cleaning them out as often as they were. Man, some of those people are stupid!

RE: “normal”
In the same way that the U. S. has the phrase “Social Security” defined to mean something, it does not mean ‘social security’ in the common sense of those words, various governments, the WMO, and others have defined weather data using the term “normal.” I don’t like the term “youth” because I learned the combination “youth, maturity, and old age” many years ago. Back then, “gay” meant a happy kid, not a happy youth, and not what it means now. But, some will say I’m not normal.
Dreamworks “The Rise of the Guardians” has an unforgettable Santa. He is a big Russian with dark eyebrows – and “Naughty” and “Nice” tattoos on either arm. He sometimes “wipes the sleight clean” for those who have been naughty.
The wonder, awe, and fun of childhood represented by Santa, Easter Bunny (an irascible Aussie), the Tooth Fairy, and Jack Frost are under threat because of the Bogey man with his NIght Mares. Great film and outrageous animation. May be a a good time to see it with the “little ankle bitahs,” as Easter Bunny calls them.

“That’s all good but how does that work the sun does not raise at all in the Artic right now.”
Lorne, where would you go to see auroras? Aren’t they a display of solar energy directed to the poles by Earth’s magnetic field?
Plain old sunlight is far from the only way the sun delivers energy to Earth, as this link points out: http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2010/15jul_thermosphere/
“The collapse happened during the deep solar minimum of 2008-2009—a fact which comes as little surprise to researchers. The thermosphere always cools and contracts when solar activity is low. In this case, however, the magnitude of the collapse was two to three times greater than low solar activity could explain.
“Something is going on that we do not understand,” says Emmert.
I wonder if Emmert has been attributing warming to atmospheric CO2? The best opportunity to learn something is when data doesn’t fit your paradigm.

Thanks, for that link, Lorne50.
Bruce Cobb, they should have earned a permanent place in the “Terror Organization” list. Unfortunately a lot of people still believe they are out doing something “good”.
Not certain that Greenpeace (Green Piece) was misspelled in the You Tube comment posting, After all, it is what they want. A Piece of your Green$$$
Meanwhile in other news, it is snowing in Australia. In the Summer:

That’s what he S.O.B deserves for not bringing me my Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet I’ve been asking for for well over 20 years. Swim you b@ur momisugly$t@ur momisugly$d Swim!! Just as soon as I get that car, I’ll reduce my carbon footprint. Until them, I’m going to go burn some coal for no reason.
@ur momisugly Mike H. — LOL.
@ur momisugly tango and Jer0me — cool!
Texas (per _Jim — blankety, blank — ARE YOU DOING OKAY THERE, Jim?! it’s been nearly 6 hours and no word….. Hello, blank Jim?………. BLANK JIM… Jim?) has an ice storm and Australia snow in the summer. But, Jai Mitchell, et. al., keep on shrieking, “Keep your eyes on the Arctic {sic} people!!!”
Heh, heh, I just discovered who’s on Santa’s “Bad List,” J-a-I M1t-c-hell. (that MUST be why my 6:14pm comment is in moderation…)
What sweet irony! They’re using a myth to convince people to believe in a myth! And they don’t even realize they’re creating more skeptics.
Can it get any better than that?
This is hilarious. We have a myth (global warming) threatening to destroy a myth (Santa Claus) and Green Pees (my preferred spelling since these people remind me of a kidney ailment) wants people to take them seriously. P.T. Barnum has met his match!
Not sure if anyone else noticed but the web-site leads with “NEARLY DONE…”. Oh the irony of global warming.
This is a sad video. I always understood Christmas to be about celebrating the birth of Christ, not about Santa. Why would Santa need snow and ice anyway. I think that in the spirit of Christmas Santa would always rise to the occasion, whether he’s living in an ice cave or a mud hut. This video leaves the impression that Santa’s a whiner and a quitter. If so then he should retire and give the job to somebody that is up to the challenge.
She…she got a quote attributed to a climate sceptical science group…..and broadcast it without bile, ridicule and spin !!!
Isn’t that a sacking offence at CNN ? You know, PoMo Rule of Journalism – no ‘false balance’ so that contrarian views are shunned ?
