NZ Greens lose interest in global warming – 'no hellfire, no brimstone'

Joe Romm must be upset  that NZ greens are ignoring his trademark “hell and high water”.

From the New Zealand Business Review (h/t to Bishop Hill):

When Jeanette Fitzsimons was co-leader global warming was the greatest-ever threat to the planet. It dwarfed all other environmental worries. It was the granddaddy of them all.

But the shift on global warming with the Greens is significant. We are safe in concluding that they no longer regard global warming as the greatest threat to the planet. It would, I think, merit a mention in a leader’s annual speech to the Greens if it were. A fast-approaching environmental armageddon would be top of mind, not the constitutionality of parliamentary legislation, and not Peter Dunne’s emails.

Find some of the reasons that the GCNs failed at http://consensusmistakes.blogspot.com/ and what actually caused the planet warm-up to 2001 and flat since then at http://climatechange90.blogspot.com/2013/05/natural-climate-change-has-been.html

Seems to me, that John Key, is similarly working to rescue NZ from the oppression of the Helen Clark regime.”
So many of my NZer friends long for her and Labours return. I was living in NZ when she came to power. Anyone earning more than NZ$60k suddenly had to pay 6% (I think it was) more in direct income tax. So, 39% income tax + 1.5% ACC levee + 12.5% GST on everything you buy with disposable, after tax, income. They are deeply unimpressed with Key even though Key was, errm key, in reducing the impact of NZ’s ETS across the economy. With National coming to power GST rose to 15% and with their partial ETS implementation living costs rose by about 8%.
People also forget that Herr Clarken Fuhrer of Helengrad (To give her her nickname) was instrumental in the destruction of the health system, the best in the world at that time, NZ had in 1986 resulting in NZer’s seeking health treatment here in Aus. People do have short memories indeed.
As for Jeanette Fitzsimons, she fell for the di-hydrogen monoxide spoof in e-mails back in about 2000-ish, so she’s not terribly smart.

Of course many dams are built across fault lines. A flatmate of mine used to work for an energy company, I don’t recall which one now, but he was responsible for calculating what the effects of a 6+ magnitude quake would have on the Clyde dam (I think it was). Interesting stuff.

Why do they lie? It is because they are a part of the Environmental Industrial Complex. No different than the Military Industrial Complex. It is driven by self interest. The Environmental Industrial Complex has been on the up swing.

The shift to more rational thought is really starting to happen in the MSM now too. Looks like Daily Mail journalists are avid readers of this site referring to two recents posts here:

Time to uncork another one of those fine Clarets this evening.

Cheers!
This trend may be spreading to Europe – an EU daily I read at Brussels airport today mentioned an EU environment minister climate meeting where the agenda included the word adaptation “for the first time”.

In preacher’s parlance:
The prediction is brimstone. The results so far are treacle.
