What would the climate change debate be without a quote from Rosie O’Donnell. Al Roker was interviewing the talk show host on a Weather Channel segment Monday morning during “Wake Up with Al.” Here’s how the exchange went:
ROKER: “What do you think about the controversy about the people who say, ya know, this whole global warming thing is a scam…a sham?”
ROSIE: “It’s ridiculous. Its absurd. There’s scientific proof. And those are the people who also believe in Creationism, right? I don’t know how you can argue with science in that way when…we’re alive in 2012, and every kind of from of measuring and scientific data. Its a ridiculous thing to say it is not occurring.”
ROKER:”During this winter, when all this weird stuff was going on, were you like a lot of us, going ‘What the heck is going on?’ ”
ROSIE: “You know, I was in Chicago for the winter and everyone said to me, ‘You better get thermal underwear and heated boots!’ Literally, I spent all this money getting all this stuff. It was like spring…it was a joke! It was spring the entire winter! I used my coat once!”
Now, lets review:
According to commedien-turned-climate scientist Rosie O’Donnell,
1) the science is settled,
2) Skeptics are flat-earthers and religious fanatics;
3) one cut-off low pressure in March across the central United States is proof of global warming.
4) Rosie has a gently used winter coat and thermal underwear for sale.
I wonder what O’Donnell would think about underestimated polar bear populations, decreasing hurricane intensity, fewer strong tornadoes since 1974, the forgotten heat records of the 1930s, adjusted arctic temperatures, twelve trees in the Urals, spliced temperature data in the Antarctic, upside down Tiljander proxies, a non-ice free summer arctic, hidden declines, the non-existent big red heat spot, artificial temperature inclines, ClimateGate, FakeGate & hockey sticks.
I guess the word “science” means different things to different people…

I’m not sure which is more absurd, Rosie O’Donnell or folks who pay attention to and report what she says.

“I cannot stand Rosie O’Donnell. She is the embodiment of everything crude, crass and ugly in America.”
I.E., liberalism. A cancer upon anyone’s society.
Since I saw the words ‘flat earther society’ above and am always looking for a chance to spout this, I can think of several things you can say to any warmer to shut them up. It goes roughly along these lines:
Why didn’t you, or anyone who believes your religion, know the Mannian Hockey stick math wasn’t real?
Why didn’t the men Mann was teaching his scrawls to know the math wasn’t real when they were furiously calculating doomsday with it, specifically?
Why didn’t you, or anyone who believes in your religion of Magic Gas, know a TREE is not a TREEMOMETER?
*This one – the one about the treemometers – is a show stopper. You mention the light, temperature, water, soil texture, parasites, SIXTEEN MINERALS in more or less proportion – and a lot of yabbering stops.
Some more:
Why didn’t you or anyone who believes in your religion recognize the enormous loss in accuracy using Stefan-Boltzman – turning the earth from a ROUND SPHERE into a FLAT DISK?
See good folks, the math used by computer models? It calculates the EARTH as F.L.A.T. and if you don’t believe how far irony goes in real life, I suggest you check up on whether what I’m saying to you is true.
These people are LITERALLY the TRUE FLAT EARTHERS who CALCULATE GLOBAL TEMP using a F.L.A.T. EARTH.
Now. I’m done. If I try to come back and say this again tomorrow politely tell me ‘not again in one week.’
Creationism???
I remember when academics believed in Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. Try to find anyone who will admit to believing that now. You can’t.
Now we know that no plant or animal can adapt or evolve or become extinct on its own. Every species is a dependent ward of the state, incapable of living without the protection of the government. Alberta is now hiring bureaucrats to provide protection and counselling for garbage bears. We would never let a species try to survive on it’s own.
What was Darwin thinking? sarc /off
Wow, that’s quite a list.
Wonder which member of the TEAM would like to respond?
don’t waste your time with a moron who said fire never melted steel – true scientific genius – for god sakes people
Al Gore
Rosie O’donnell
Michael Moore
Throw in Jim Hansen…………
’nuff said
Bwahahahahahaaaaaa!!!
How can anyone take that person seriously?
I am very concerned that we allow even one ear to be bent toward these uneducated, undereducated, or maleducated Hollywood and New York comedians, actors, and other parrots and cockatoos du jour. Apologies to these intelligent animals, of course. Let’s spend our grey matter contemplating the universe, instead. OK?
I think the point everyone has missed so far is that Rosie is a ‘woman’.
Here in Australia the latest propaganda focuses on 1MILLION Women.against climate change.com
Some clever PR guru has obviously come up with a strategy to get Women on board by asserting that those nasty (mostly) male denialists just don’t ‘care’ about the future of the children etc etc ad nauseam.
Climate Change…it’s a ‘girl’ thang!
Rhoda R says: “…Rosie is a 9/11 ‘truthier’. She, on national TV, stated that fire doesn’t melt steel.”
Typical kerosene flame temperatures are ~2090°C, quite a bit above typical steel melting point of 1370°C. Rosie is a veritable font of misinformation. But it’s irrelevant. The softening temperature of steel is much lower than its melting point. Burning jet fuel would cause the towers (already weakened by the impact) to collapse without melting. I think we can evaluate her scientific credentials as somewhere in the bottom 5% of the population.
jorgekafkazar; you’re right, of course, but her statement was still incorrect and loosened a barrage of blog humor about I-beam mines and the like. Actually, all the truthiers were pretty much pathetic – remember the mock up tower made of chicken wire that “proved” that planes couldn’t have brought down the towers?

Okay, IAD, when my neighbor has the Princeton crowd over for beer and barbecue, that’ll be one way to turn the conversation back to 18th Century English Lit. Thanks!
Guys, there really is no need for the personal attacks on Rosie – pointing out the error of her thinking is enough
TIA
Rosie O’Donnell is living proof that there is a god and that they have a really sick sense
of humour !
Proof in science! Great stuff, the science is settled.
Kaboom said it: come back next year. But maybe she shouldn’t bring her coat and undies. After all, the science is settled and one warm winter settles the climate. I lived in SW Michigan for 20 years and have made regular trips there since 1976. I’d bet on very cold long before I’d bet on balmy during the winter.
IAD:
I echo Bill T’s comment – thanks so much for the S-B ‘Earth as a flat disc’ comment.
From now on it’s gonna make my debates with condescending warmists a whole lot easier to win!
Tim McCarver doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together.
She has been called a hypocrite. Shouldn’t that be ‘hippocrite’!
The question no one would ask … what did the people of Chicago think of the weather this winter? The fact is almost all the people absolutely loved the warm weather this year in the Upper Midwest. I personally played golf 10 times in March when I’m usually lucky to play once. It was fabulous. People out biking, jogging, walking their dogs, etc. all month long. All the snow gone weeks earlier than usual.
So, Rosie would you prefer a typical Chicago winter or this past one? I asked this same question to many true believers and none of them would answer.
Warm is good.
It does beg the question; does Alarmist Belief create a deficiency in grey matter, or is the deficiency an a priori condition? Perhaps there is a feedback mechanism involved. Further study is required.
The talk about last winter is hilarious. What are these idiots going to say next winter? With the random nature of weather, my bet is next winter is going to be cold. Hope she holds onto her winter clothes.
Also they seem to be totally clueless about the cold winter in Europe.
Rosie turned 50 this year, I think her “climate change” was hot flashes.
