Scott Mandia aka “SuperMandia” (seen at left) outdoes himself with a new level of craziness. And here we thought Mike Mann really didn’t like hockey stick icons:
“I always thought it was somewhat misplaced to make it a central icon of the climate change debate,” [Mann] said.

Hold that thought, because SuperMandia is ready to leap tall tales with a single bound!
On Mandia’s Blog we have this: Support Climate Scientists & Look Cool Doing So!
Help the Climate Science Legal Defense Fund (CSLDF) raise money to cover the costs of Dr. Mann’s legal defense as well as other scientists who face similar challenges. To help raise money and reward those that contribute, we have rounded up some cool designs and gifts. CSLDF thanks Nicole Martinez and Lunchbreath who were kind enough to donate their designs for this fundraiser.
$25 gets you one of our t-shirts. They will be delivered a couple weeks after the fundraiser is over. We will check in with you about which design you want and what size.
$50 gets two of the t-shirts.
$75 gets all three of the t-shirts and our true gratitude.
$150 gets you all three of the t-shirts and a copy of Climate Change: Picturing the Science signed by Joshua Wolfe (www.picturingclimatechange.com)
$300 gets you a hockey stick signed by Mike Mann.
Mike Mann thought the icon was misplaced, and tried to minimize it in media reports, but it is OK to use it to to make money as a signed icon by the icon himself? What a freaking hypocrite.
A couple of years ago, my enterprising daughter, Jessie, decided to sell a Duck Tape wallet autographed by me on EBAY. Wanting to encourage her enterprising spirit, I called Dr Mann up and asked if he would like to do a wallet, one side blue for cooling one red for warming and we would both autograph it, Jessie keeping half the profit, him keeping the other half. The idea of course was to encourage my daughter to not just have an idea, but to produce a product through work and take the risk of working and then getting a reward.. Keep in mind at this time my attitude toward Mann was ” if i just looked at what he looked at, I would believe it too” In other words I was not slamming him for emails or anything, just a simple debate, lets make a forecast and see who is right.
His response was to my best recollection No, I dont believe in doing things for profit”
I was stunned, told him if he changed his mind, that it would be fun and perhaps lighten some things up. He probably has no recollection of this. I certainly do since when I hung up the phone I knew that he seemed not to understand that without profits, people dont pay the taxes to fund the grants that he gets for his studies, for one, and for two, he and I looked at the world very differently as far as output and results are. Perhaps some of this is coming to the top of late.
In any case, Jessie is still making duck tape wallets, I bet one autographed by me and him for cooling and warming would get more than the hockey stick. Of course we will never know, but Jessie would love to do it if he is willing. He can use his half for his purpose, Jessie will learn the lesson of having an idea, then working to produce something from it. everyone wins, right?
We are not holding our breath ( though we probably should, as it means we are exhaling co2)

Oh come on, Dr Michael Mann isn’t really going to actually sign a hockey stick! Obviously he’ll just get Gleick to forge his signature.

LOL – brilliant. I’d pay $1,200 for a Gleick forged Mann signature on a hockey stick. Can you imagine what that will be worth someday, when all the B.S. and smoke clears?
People will actually pay money for something co-designed by “Lunchbreath”?
Arrogant seems to be the most discriptive used word at Rate My Professor

D Marshall: I am more that chuckling, chortling, or even guffawing. I’m laughing my butt off.
Bwahahahahahahaha!
I don’t understand how this can be true. How can any cognisant human-being be quite so stupid? The whole sorry thing is toe-curlingly cringeworthy.
What did perk me up, though, is the appeal for funds towards Mann’s legal defence – is this charlatan actually being brought to book at last?? I do hope so!

For $600 do we get to whack him with it?
Like this?
Or this?
Or maybe this?
Everyday is “trick or treat” for Scott Mandia.
Yes, freaking hypocrite seems to cover most of it.
You should buy one Mr. Watts! The irony alone is almost worth it! Then you can buy two and put them end-to-end….
