So much has been going on this week, and today especially, that I almost forgot that Willis Eschenbach has a very special birthday today.
Since Willis contributes a great deal here, I want to give him my thanks and well wishes, and hope that you will also.
Arpy Burpday Willis. May you live to be a hundred years and one day 🙂
Happy Birthday Willis, enjoy the sunset.
happy birthday Willis, enjoy your posts.
Cant say much more than happy birthday and thank you
Happy Birthday, Willis, and keep healthy.
Keith.
Happy Birthday, Willis ! 🙂
This verse is normally reserved for birthdays of ‘young’ friends :
“As you slide down the banister life
here’s wishing that all the splinters
are pointing in the right direction.”
I enjoy your articles immensely for the thought provoking yet easy communication style for us non-scientists business types.
May you continue to grow older and wiser Willis. Happy Birthday, oh wise one!
Happy birthday mate
Don’t let the muggles distract you Willis, find something new and interesting to tell us about.
For my birthday my wife bought me socks. I bought myself a 9kW plastic injection moulder, make sure you get enough toys.
Now let’s all sing:
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday, dear Wiiiiliiis,
Happy birthday to you.
Hip, hip, hooray!
Hip, hip, hooray!
Hip, hip, hooraaay!
Oh, man, now I’m all embarrassed … it’s true, I’m 65 today. I appreciate all of your kind words. It is my great privilege to be a guest poster here, and to be a part of the immense and surprising success story of WUWT.
WUWT is a curious creature, with lots of heads and lots of hands. It is a success in part because of the quality and strength of Anthony and the guest posters here, and partly because of the quality and strength of those who comment and lurk here.
As a result, it is far and away the best known of all the climate blogs, and is required reading for anyone with a serious interest in the subject. And despite that, it is a shoestring operation put together, authored, and moderated by volunteers like myself … an amazing David and Goliath story because we are up against people with serious bucks to throw at climate alarmism, and yet, WUWT is winning the battle for honest, transparent science .
It is my belief that we are winning because we DO allow and encourage scientific comments and questions, because we DO present and discuss a host of different scientific issues and viewpoints, because we DO provide data, citations, and code to back up our claims, and because we DO acknowledge our scientific errors and misunderstandings as they are pointed out to us.
Of course, in a way we have the easier task, because we are up against zealots. The thing about zealots is that they’re no fun, even when they’re right, and especially when they’re not right. Here at WUWT, we’re able to laugh, both at the follies of our scientific opponents, and at our own foolishness in turn. We put the fun back into functional.
So in short … my thanks to Anthony, to the guest posters, and to all of you contributors (particularly those I’ve disagreed with) for each of your contributions to WUWT, to the scientific discussion, and to my life. It’s been a great run to date, nothing left to do but laissez les bons temps roulez …

Happy Birthday Willis, look forward to your continued insightful posting.
Many happy returns of the day.
Happy 65th, Willis. 65? Yikes!
Many happy returns Willis. I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts and I think your hitch-hiking story is my all time favourite, fabulous read.
Just do a bit of data manipulation and you could shave a few years off.
Enjoy your day and have a drink on me.

Now that your birthday is over and the hangover has settled, I have a topic following from your atricle showing a cap on tropical SSTs. You got so many responses to that series that I’m jealous, even though I’m older by just on 5 years and have a higher QI. sherro1 at optusnet dot com dot au and that’s NOT Austria.
Ha, it’s the birthday of WUWTs version of Charlie Harper is it.

Happy birthday Willis.
Many Happy Returns Willis.
Belatedly, from the UK, congratulations on celebrating the 44th anniversary of your 21st birthday, Willis. The thing is that in the decade that was the ’60s we lost our memories; in the age that is our 60s, we found our wisdom.
Happy Birthday and thank you for your always interesting posts Willis!
Happy Birthday Willis !
65 ! and still alive !
I wonder if 65 is the ‘new 50’ ?
I range from 19 to 25, ‘in-head’ so to speak. the body tells me otherwise.
I do like the idea, “you’re only as old as the last person you touched.” maybe that’s the pagan in me.
You’re touching me (57) who touched 12 ,23, 48, 57, 65 yr olds (happy birthday Willis) today.
65 is such a nice age – maybe you could take a pic for us ?
lovingyourappearances,
‘long may your lum reek’
Xx (lol!)
P.S.come in (c’mon) swimmer !
Only 65, I thought you wre anold bloke.
Anyway, congratulation and have a happy day indeed have a happy next 40 years – you deserve it
Many Happy Returns, may you have many more.
I’ve enjoyed learning a lot from your posts. Both from what you know and from what you don’t know. Always thought provoking and frequently entertaining :-). Here’s to the ongoing journey.
