From the “weather is not climate” department…
Apparently, Nature is weighing in some support for action in Sacramento to end California’s economically punishing anti-carbon law. We saw earlier this winter some significant snowfall in Los Angeles, but Hollywierd continues to suffer the cold shoulder and chill wind of nature even as spring is well underway.
Today the National Weather Service issued the following advisory, cautioning potential snowfall in LA county in the Antelope Valley and Santa Barbara, with snow accumulations of up to 4-7 inches possible:

And here we have a pretty scary picture but normal of what is coming.

Interesting cold water all along the Peruvian coastline
Interesting indeed – new upwelling? A double-dip La Nina?
More snow is as a result of a warmer climate. Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past. Reduced snow extent is a sign of global warming. Increased snow extent is a sign of global warming. Less snowfall must be a sign of a cooler climate? My head hurts! R. Gates, where are you?
I suspect that the last few years has reduced the extent of news stories related to Spring coming earlier and earlier. ;O)
I am a proud agnostic.
But if there WAS a God, he/she/it apparently has a very good sense of humour and irony…

Douglas, me too. We had three inches the other day.
My grandmother would not plant a single garden seed or row of onion sets until after May 7th. On May 1st she would roll out the paper towels (or kitchen flour sacks if someone had used up the paper towels), dampen them, and place the seeds carefully in rows. Then she would roll up the paper towels and place them in an old glass restaurant-size mayo jar and screw on the lid. Come May 8th, she would gingerly plant the softened seeds into the garden rows. Why did this wise woman do such a thing? She understood weather pattern variation. This planting method smoothed out the vagaries of such variations and allowed her to overcome both wet/dry, and warm/cold AGW, without even knowing such a thing existed.
Were she alive today, she would have thrown a dishpan full of ice cold water on the bloviating Al Gore, stuck a wet bar of soap in his mouth, and then send him to the corner chair to contemplate his lye and tallow contrition. After an hour of that, she would have driven him to the local priest for an on-the-knees confession. To make matters worse, Father Quigley understood weather pattern variation and its affects on steelhead, salmon, and trout runs. Needless to say, Al would have had several Our Fathers and Hail Marys to get through before allowed off his knees.
The California legislature has a track record for going to extremes. Look for an added climate tax on snow tires and collision insurance.

“Something really weird seems to be going on over on facebook today. I can’t post articles from this website there. It is blocking them with some comment about how this is an abusive site or something. What is going on? I turned in a complaint to them but they have not acted on it.”
Yes, we started noticing this yesterday, its not just you. This appears to be a new tactic of the warmists, to tag all skeptic articles shared on FB as abusive. We encourage all of our readers to share our articles on FB and to file appeals with each submission. When Anthony gets back we’ll see about a more permanent solution, but it is important that everybody get on the warpath with shares and appeals on Facebook.

Of particular note is Hudson bay, which was late in icing over at the start of the season, and seems to be similarly tardy in melting this Spring.”
That is not surprising. See the site below. It shows the Northern Hemisphere snow cover at about 1.5% higher than the recent 15 year average as of April 1. And as we know, whenever there is a blanket of snow on the ground, it is very hard for any surface temperature to get too much above freezing, generally speaking. And for the same reason, I will predict that at least for April, the rate of loss of Arctic sea ice will be slower than normal.

Also note what happened to the average Arctic temperatures over the past month:

Regarding the Facebook “abusive site” problem: I am going to start making a point of flagging alarmist pages and sites as abusive. As the latest tactic is an attempt to gag open discussion (childish in the extreme), it should be even-handed.
Short vid clip taken yesterday at the Poppy Fields showing the snow falling. This is a 2750ft according to GPS. There’s not very many poppies this year.
irony…

Google owns Facebook and Google has actively joined the AGW Ministry of Truth team… so expect no end of censorship.

I stand corrected. Wonder why Facebook has joined the AGW censorship team then?
