10:10 exploding skeptical children video "disappears"

Well, well, somebody came to their senses. About two hours ago, around 6:30AM PST, 10:10 took down their disgusting video showing school children were skeptical of carbon reduction suggestions from their teacher, get blown up in a gory bloodbath that covered other students with gore. It was first covered at WUWT here:

O…M…G – Video explodes skeptical kids in bloodbath

The is what the “No Pressure”website at http://www.1010global.org/no-pressure says now:

The movie title is rather ironic now, isn’t it? Surely, they felt some pressure. Here’s what happens when you visit the clip on YouTube.

The preview thumbnail is still there:

But when you press play you get this:

The URL for the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UHN3zHoYA0

Directs you to the main page of YouTube now, so you can’t view the hundreds (perhaps thousands by this morning) of angry comments left about the video.

Even the “behind the scenes” making of the movie has been disappeared.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeMi8Bxw6lI

There’s nothing on their main website and nothing on their Twitter feed about the removals. They seem more than a bit embarrassed, and rightly so.

Richard North of the EUReferendum has a nice summary, complete with screencaps here

Finally, here’s my badge of honor, courtesy of “Hot Topic”, the major pro AGW site in New Zealand:

http://hot-topic.co.nz/no-pressure-1010-on-the-button

Yes, it was “obviously effective”….at making you all look like hateful fools.

Thanks for noticing!

But, the video continues to go viral, it’s been copied and is spreading across the Internet now, and there’s nothing they can do about it now. The rat is out of the bag.

UPDATE:

The 500+ comments for the original video are still visible here:

http://www.youtube.com/comment_servlet?all_comments=1&v=3UHN3zHoYA0

And, dozens of copies are now appearing in various places all over the net. Have a look in comments below for the links of your choice.

James Delingpole has some commentary.

Coming soon, a “review” of the video by Lord Oxburgh, and a weak excuse for the video by 10:10.
” Umm, it was taken out of context!”

Anthony,
What right do you have to embed 10:10’s film on your website? Are you the copyright holder? If not, this is akin to theft. They have a right to do whatever they want with their intellectual property, you have no right to appropriate their materials in toto by encouraging your readers to violate IP laws and re-post the video and then embed it on your blog.
REPLY: Oh please, wordpress.com provides the YouTube embed feature, thousands of blogs embed YouTube video. And, it also falls under legal definition of fair use for criticism.
10:10 made this video for wide distribution, and released it to YouTube with no restrictions. If they had restrictions from the get-go and anyone used it, you might have an argument. As it is, once released under those terms, they can’t claim “foul” afterwards.
And, I’ve made no encouragement of any kind, only pointed out that other people are doing this.

I think Richard Curtis have done more for us skeptics in the CO2 debate than anyone else. And I believe it is intensionally.
That seems unlikely, and in any case there’s no proof, in which case the null hypothesis is that it was intentional.

How come the only people killed in the video are white?

I can’t help thinking Richard Curtis is a closet sceptic, knowing his other work, spitting image, Blackadder, NTNON etc. it’s the only thing that makes any sense.

Oops, I meant that the message itself was intentional, not “helping skeptics”.

“Because we have got about four years to stabilise global emissions and we are not anywhere near doing that. All our lives are at threat and if that’s not worth jumping up and down about, I don’t know what is.” Fanny Armstrong
This reminds me of the commercial Ted Danson did for Oceana stating that we only had 10 years to save the oceans. What a great job we must have done!

rbateman’s right. In the internet age, msm can no longer sweep things under the rug and nobody can put this cat back in the bag.
I find it a little ominous that the video is apparently still available on youtube as a “private video”. I wonder who is sending “friend requests” and to whom.

I guess only 3 of WUWT’s readers have ever watched a Tom and Jerry cartoon.

I grew up watching Tom & Jerry, then graduated to Monty Python, The Young Ones and Blackadder (oddly enough, written by Richard Curtis – what a surprise), amongst others. Loved ’em, and I’m still quite able to differentiate between humour and propaganda. And I do so enjoy seeing such amateurish attempts as they become more and more strident.
So, your wittily-phrased point was what, exactly?

Anthony & all commenters,
All those Oct 10 2010 activities sponsored by 10:10. You know they are going to be showing the video at all those events with kids included. Especially to the kids.
Anyone active in 10:10 events or aware of them should put out the word.
You know it is highly probable that is what Eugenie, Franny, Daniel, Lizzie and the whole 10:10 team are planning.
Speak out. I will look locally where I am and spread the word.

@P Gosselin
this ain’t so much a naive revelation shock (except for some, maybe),…. but more a Freudian-slip confirmation of what we already suspected about leftist control/murder fantasists.
And its hardly on the same level as the myriad examples of politically-correct ‘manufactured-offence’ which eminates from the lib-left end of the spectrum, on such a breathtaking scale that is just impossible to keep track of.

These punks really made my day.
The greatest thing about this, is that it was synchronized with Bin Ladens message on global warming.
Birds of a feather.

I thought scary bedtime stories, suicidal animals or polar bears raining down from the sky was going pretty low. I suppose it should come as no surprise nowadays, just when you think people will stoop no lower they promptly produce shovels and start digging. Far too glossy a production with such a cold and calculated use of violence to be viewed as humorous. Clearly contrived to be controversial. I see no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks (Mann made or otherwise) that anyone would actually have thought this was a humorous way to get their message out. Controversy is the clear goal and on that score it would appear they hit the mark.

To PG, whom I esteem. Yep, this is a Bambi/Godzilla cartoon alright; just remember who is Godzilla.

A lot of indignation over a cheap B horror flick. Overreacting looks radical too.
Nobody should think they own the moral high road.
I’m a little perturbed that people have seized on it to score moral points. That also looks bad. It’s just a poor-taste flick with dark humour that stepped out of bounds, and nothing more. No bloody murder was actually committed here.
I suppose one could read into it that they’re calling for bloody murder…jihad! Seems like a stretch to me.
Have you taken the time to see just how much tap-dancing you’re doing in defense of this “flick”? If this were as insignificant as you claim, then you also are over-reacting with a dose of your own indignation…

October 1, 2010 11:50 am

This was an attention getting maneuver, it worked, they will play this anyway needed, for as much attention and money as they can get out of it. Sickos have money too maybe they thought, “why not tap these people as well” greenbacks from anywhere as long as they keep coming in!
Greed is easily seen, climate effects due to trace amounts of plant food, not so much. Why the feeling that they only have X number of years to turn things around? In every con job there needs to be X things, concert of propaganda supported by those already in the pyramid scheme, pressure to act fast as the “window of opportunity” will soon close, don’t waste time asking impertinent questions of outsiders, and risk getting in a longer line of investors leaving you out of the gravy, act as quickly and quietly as possible to not blow the scam, fake ties to others who are “in the scam” as reliable outsiders who help push the mark to not cover their a$$, disappear asap with the cash while other coworkers are distracting the mark long enough to clean up your tracks.

I have just sent the following email to the New Zealand contact for the 10:10.
Hello,
I write to you as someone with a doctorate as a Chemical Engineer and as a senior lecturer at [a university] for more than 20 years. I have the training to intelligently analyse the issue of anthropogenic global warming and have spent hundreds of hours doing so. My conclusions are that there is no direct evidence for AGW and that the null hypothesis that AGW does not exist has not been disproven. The hysteria that attends this issue is therefore entirely unwarranted.
I have further found that the actions suggested to curb AGW will have no significant affect, even if the hypothesis of AGW was shown to be true. I have also discovered that the costs of such actions would be much more than the costs resulting from AGW, even if true.
Most disturbingly, the failure of the scientific, political and journalistic spheres to admit the glaringly obvious forces me to conclude (as many others have) that there are vested interests at work with political, financial and ideological reasons for supporting this charade, of which the environmentalists are by no means in the background.
As an academic of a university, and as a Professional Engineer and member of my professional body, IPENZ, my duty is to make this information available to the public. I have been doing so whenever the opportunity arises.
I wish to inform you that the truly disgusting movie that is the subject of this email, and produced by your organisation, sends a clear message of what 10:10 stands for, even if that message is unintended.
From your founder:
“Doing nothing about climate change is still a fairly common affliction, even in this day and age. What to do with those people, who are together threatening everybody’s existence on this planet? Clearly we don’t really think they should be blown up, that’s just a joke for the mini-movie, but maybe a little amputating would be a good place to start?” […] “We ‘killed’ five people to make No Pressure – a mere blip compared to the 300,000 real people who now die each year from climate change”
—Franny Armstrong, founder of 10:10
If you wish to justify the worth of this video because the end justifies the means, then you place themselves on the same level as the witch-burners of Salem, the inquisitors of Spain, the final problem-solvers of Germany and the suicide-bomber organisers of Islam. This truly is the work of eco-facists, no joke. Believe or die.
Thank you so much for making clear to people what you stand for and making my task so much easier.
regards
Huub

Kind of obvious which commenters are inured to violence. One too many modern horror movies or video games I suspect.

“They’ve gone too far this time.”
No. these are just the pictures of blood and gore that have broken the camel’s back. This clip alone to me is a joke. But it is indeed the straw that appears to have broken the camel’s back.
The other straws though were bigger and heavier: Nuremberg type trials, “we know where you live”, calls for civil disobedience, being called deniers, “demands that sceptic meteorologists be decertified, Greenpeace violence, etc. They’ve all added up. This morbid video appears to be the latest one that could topple the entire thing – at least for awhile.
It may be as big as Nov. 17, 2009.
Focus on the entire pattern, and not the single event.
