The world of climate change alarmism just got a new ally. No I’m not kidding.
CAIRO (AP) – Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has called in a new audiotape for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming.
In the tape, aired in part on Al-Jazeera television Friday, bin Laden warns of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to stop it is to bring “the wheels of the American economy” to a halt.
Umm, where have we heard this before?

The “red-green” environmental and left wing western political body of opinion and political movement, closely linked to AGW, does indeed share with Osama Bin Laden a fundamental antipathy to the Western Industrial and capitalistic economy, society and life-style. This is not a trivial or offensive parallel but a correct and informative observation. Many people in the “West” feel ill at ease with a life style dependent on fossil fuel burning technology and mega scale industry as well as bewildering science. They feel real anxiety just from looking at a column of cars at a red traffic lights pumping exhaust fumes into the atmosphere.
The psycological roots of this unease with our industrial lifestyle come partly from a very long-established medieval religious mind-set involving self rejection and loathing linked to a pursuit of a sense of moral and spiritual purity. European society was deeply influenced by such thinking for many centuries, and mind-sets thus formed constitute a large part of peoples’ psycology which change only very slowly over many generations, centuries and even millenia. For instance, Francis of Assisi is often thought of as a benevolent and likeable religious mystic, and no doubt said and did good things. However one thing that he said was:
“St. Francis of Assisi (1181 or 1182–1226) taught, “I have no greater enemy than my body,” arguing that “We should feel hatred towards our body for its vices and sinning!” For St. Francis this attitude entailed fasting and self-flagellation for the disciplining of the body, which he called “brother donkey.””

The same article continues indicating the pervasiveness, acceptance and popularity of the concept of inflicting punishment, deprivation and even pain on oneself in order to strive against sin and natural appetites and desires that were seen as iniquitous and as ones own enemy.
Later the article states:
“Many saints of the late Middle Ages individually practiced similar self-punishments; as a collective practice, self-flagellation was institutionalized in convents such as those of the Dominicans in southern Germany. This ascetic act was practiced collectively by the laity as well, at least since the advent of the many flagellant movements from 1260 to 1348, which were reactions against plague and apocalyptic fears; ..”
The part that I would highlight (if I know how to) is “flagellant movements … which were reactions against plague and apocalyptic fears”.
The whole AGW narrative and psycology, Kyoto, Copenhagen, CO2 taxes, cap and trade, emission limits are a modern reappearance of this medieval phenomenon of a flagellant movement in reaction against apocalyptic fears.
What “natural desires” do people have: to have a job, have a prosperous lifestyle and a decent car. To fly from time to time. To be warm in winter, not too hot in summer. The fulfillment of all these desires necessitates fossil fuel burning: thus we are exhorted to mortify and punish ourselves by abstinence from these sinful objects of desire.
The Islamic terrorist link with BIn Ladens “supposed” statement illuminates another aspect: the most virulent Islamic hatred of the west is in Muslims who live in the west. The 911 perpetrators, also the London tube bombers, lived for years in the USA and UK. Muslims in the west are in fact inbibing the wetsern asceticism (subconsciously via the western mindset that we all have – whatever our supposed religion or atheism – few of us realise how superficial such beliefs and opinions are to our subconscious cores). Thus British soldiers in Afghanistan listening in to Taliban radio chatter hear thick Birmingham accents, and later inspecting Taliban corpses they routinely find Aston Villa tattoos on the bodies of these religious martyrs.
You only need to look at anti-government demonstrations in any western capital to see how much institutionalised self loathing exists in the form of loathing of the government of ones own country. Thus patriotism is such a dirty word. Its unacceptable apparently to feel positive about oneself and ones country. Or about our society’s industrial and scientific achievements. We must feel guilt, and punish and deprive ourselves.
Bin Laden is correct. The U.S. invented the hoax!

The new audio tape from “Osama bin Laden” taking responsibility for the idiotic and childish incident in Detroit where moronic Nigerian armed with a useless “bomb” is simply too much…
Spin Laden, “who suffers from renal deficiency (and) has been periodically undergoing dialysis in a Peshawar military hospital with the knowledge and approval of the Inter-Services Intelligence” (July 2001), emerges once more from the dark pages of 1984 to provoke another 2 Minutes Hate.
The Ministry of Truth cannot be said to have purged the web of all the “terrorism experts” who claimed that he was dead. Just google it.
“When seeing, hearing isn’t believing” (WP, Feb 1999), this story appears strange, yes–but not necessarily true. Another Thomas, in his excellent youtube link above, posted a rather clear demonstration of that fact.

It would be interesting to do a poll now amongst the few million Chinese being affected by the unusual amount of sea ice regarding their belief in CAGW.
I think the current cold NH winter will do more to scupper the plans of the warmist’s than any scientific paper.
The globe warms and cools – always did and always will. The IPCC and the ‘scientific’ cabal that underpins them doesn’t have a clue about how our chaotic climate really operates. Their GCM’s have no predictive power.

For someone, who has spent so much thought on how to damage the US economy, I’m surprised that he has realised this only now.
He/They’ve included it at least once before. To some degree, AQ’s talking points have paralleled those of the American Left for years.
That’ll work for still pictures. It’ll be 100 times harder, and easier to detect, in a video, especially if OBL waves the paper around and/or flexes it.
I’d have thought he would all be for global warming. It must be pretty cold in that cave in the midst of the Afghan winter.
Many extreme environmentalists, scientists and politicians have used climate change to try to terrify us into accepting their destructive policies. There’s a name for people that use terror as a tool….

Why should we be ashamed? Mann, Hansen, Gore, Maurice Strong, David Rockefeller and Clinton are responsible for the starvation of third world children thanks to the bio-fuel scam and the ratification of the World Trade Organization not to mention World Bank/IMF SAPs.
The results of the politics of Carbon trading/Cap and Trade is increased death of the poor especially children. Osama at least is honest enough to state that his goal is to kill people. Maurice Strong, father of Global Warming also state his goal.

Look at what happen from the bio-fuel fiasco. Monsanto and Cargill posted record earnings while the third world countries people rioted and starved.

The whole AGW scenario is about transferring the wealth of the masses into the pockets of the few without getting lynched in the process. And If people die in the process they really do not care, there are always more peasants available to exploit.

You forget the Rockefellers, (and Maurice Strong) and the Saudis are in bed together and have been since the 1950’s and before. I have no doubt at all that the result will be MORE money in the pockets of the Rockefellers and the Saudis.

P.s., based on the lies those sites tell about Israel, it would be no surprise to me to discover they were no more credible on anything else, a lot like the crew at CRU have been on climate. I.e., if I know they are lying about one thing, I don’t trust them on anything else.
