December 7th, 2009…a day that will live in hypocrisy

It will be remembered as the day the greens bombed Copenhagen with limousines.

Picture updated at 12:30PM – Anthony

From the Telegraph, the tale of elitist excess begins:

On a normal day, Majken Friss Jorgensen, managing director of Copenhagen’s biggest limousine company, says her firm has twelve vehicles on the road. During the “summit to save the world”, which opens here tomorrow, she will have 200. “We thought they were not going to have many cars, due to it being a climate convention,” she says. “But it seems that somebody last week looked at the weather report.”

Ms Jorgensen reckons that between her and her rivals the total number of limos in Copenhagen next week has already broken the 1,200 barrier. The French alone rang up on Thursday and ordered another 42. “We haven’t got enough limos in the country to fulfil the demand,” she says. “We’re having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden.”

And the total number of electric cars or hybrids among that number? “Five,” says Ms Jorgensen. “The government has some alternative fuel cars but the rest will be petrol or diesel. We don’t have any hybrids in Denmark, unfortunately, due to the extreme taxes on those cars. It makes no sense at all, but it’s very Danish.”

But wait, there’s more!

The airport says it is expecting up to 140 extra private jets during the peak period alone, so far over its capacity that the planes will have to fly off to regional airports – or to Sweden – to park, returning to Copenhagen to pick up their VIP passengers.

As well 15,000 delegates and officials, 5,000 journalists and 98 world leaders, the Danish capital will be blessed by the presence of Leonardo DiCaprio, Daryl Hannah, Helena Christensen, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Prince Charles. A Republican US senator, Jim Inhofe, is jetting in at the head of an anti-climate-change “Truth Squad.” The top hotels – all fully booked at £650 a night – are readying their Climate Convention menus of (no doubt sustainable) scallops, foie gras and sculpted caviar wedges.

Slightly off topic I know but I just heard on BBC radio a review of the last couple of decades of the politics surrounding the issue of climate change. During the discussion an advocate of AGW came out with the line that the “Science” supporting AGW had “hardened” since 1998.
I’m sure I’ve lived through the last 10 years and that’s a bit different to how I recall things. In 1998 I believed in Global Warming. We were approaching a very hot El – NINO year, Ice core data seemed to show that global temperature and atmospheric CO2 were in step with each other, and tree ring data and thermometer readings appeared to show that the pace of recent warming was unprecedented.
However, since then a number of key FACTS have emerged.
2001
“In the 1990’s the classic Vostok ice core graph showed temperature and carbon in lock step moving at the same time. It made sense to worry that carbon dioxide did influence temperature. But by 2003 new data came in and it was clear that carbon lagged behind temperature. The link was back to front.”
2003
“In a stunning scientific paper just published in Energy and Environment (McIntyre and McKitrick), the infamous `Hockey Stick’ as developed by Mann, Bradley and Hughes in 1998 has been comprehensively discredited – using the same data sources and even methodology used by the Hockey Stick’s original authors.”
2009
“The Earth is not warming. The 28-year period of warming between 1970 and 1998 stopped dead in its tracks, and the climate has been cooling ever since.”
I HAVE RE-CONSIDERED MY POSITION!!!

Just pass them by. Their only use now is,, all mirrors need a past.

Very offtopic (…), but maybe interestingly enough to mention here? A debate between Bjorn Lomborg, George Monbiot, Lord Nigel Lawson, and Elisabeth May (an activist, and leader of the green party in Canada) :
Before the debate: 61% pro, and 39% con politics to reduce CO2.
After the debate: 53% pro, and 47% con
Part 3/18 Lawson (opening remarks)
Part 4/18 May (opening remarks)
Part 5/18 Lomborg (opening remarks)
Part 6/18 Monbiot (opening remarks)

Part 7/18 Lawson, May
Part 8/18 Monbiot, Lomborg, Lawson
Part 9/18 May, Monbiot, Lawson
Part 10/18 Lomborg, May
Part 11/18 Monbiot, Lomborg
Part 12/18 Lawson, Monbiot
Part 13/18 May

Part 14/18 Monbiot (concluding remarks)
Part 15/18 Lomborg (concluding remarks)
Part 16/18 May (concluding remarks)
Part 17/18 Lawson (concluding remarks)

some bloke (03:22:01) :
Tall bloke made me laugh out loud with his comment about throwing carbon footprints out of their limo windows to the peasants.

Eye thank ewe. 🙂
It was carbon credits, though I wouldn’t mind the opportunity to eject a few of these fatcats from their limos with a well aimed carbon footprint on their arses.

Dear LORD… I’m laughing my ass off over what a farce this is! About the only thing that makes sense about all this hub-bub is Jim Inhofe jetting over. The only thing is, he’ll blend right in! 🙂
” The hot air this week will be massive, the whole proceedings eminently mockable, but it would be far too early to write off this conference as a failure. ”
Couldn’t agree more. I don’t know why people are saying that the treaty is dead in the water. Those might be famous last words. Me? I’ll call it dead when it’s over and I’ve no worries of paying more for my god-given right to emit carbon. It ain’t over til it’s over!

Makes perfect sense to me. They are the good shepherds, who deserve the best. We are the dim, unruly flock, who need to be restrained. No hypocrisy, just different classes of people.
See “Climategate: The good shepherds”:

Science has failed us.
It has been clearly demonstrated that the man made global warming heat death is a hoax of mammoth proportions and yet the fraud goes on. Fudged data, screaming hysterics over things we only imagine but can not prove, perversion of the scientific publication process, and gigantic misuse of public funds all in plain view for the public to see. Yet, we have these control freak fools parading around as saviors of mankind. Unreal.
It seems that the Theater of the Absurd is making a comeback these days.

‘Hope’ by G F Watts, POTUS’s favourite painting apparently.
[sorry Mod. beyond me].

Well, Orpheus and Obama *do* both begin with an “O”, and “tragedy” and “travesty” are tri-syllabic…

Peter Plail (02:45:43) : “And also, perhaps after the beauty contest is over, the politicians will review the fundamental science, reflect on the true complexity of the climate system, conclude that the simplistic climate models currently used are simply not up to the job of forecasting, and therefore should not be used as the basis for planning anything.”
The only way that would ever happen is if, in all their targeting and posturing, they somehow make their own suffering a part of the deal. But one can always hope (meaning both possibilities). Hmm…wonder just how much alcohol they’ll be serving…

Good news – Climategate gets a mention in opening address at Copehagen – they’re rattled to even mention it.

Liked the headline!
How about expanding it:
“Yesterday, December 7, 2009 – a date which will live in hypocrisy – the World Economy and the Principles of Scientific Openness was suddently and deliberately attacked by environmental and mainstream media forces of the Empire of IPCC.”

A bit OT, but on Saturday there was a news report on radio 4 about some ‘climate’ protests.
In the background I could hear a screeching chant of:
‘Two four six eight/CO2 is what we hate’.
WUWT!!!!!!!!!????????

From the BBC: “Outlining his ambitions for the summit, Mr de Boer said: “I think what we will see coming out of Copenhagen is a package of decisions that define a long-term goal.”
More likely: “I think what we will see coming out of Copenhagen is a sack of shit that defines the peons future life style.”

The BBC has kicked of its coverage of Copenhagen with the first lie.
Ravendra Pachuri is called the IPCC’s chief climate scientst.
Funny, I could have sworn he was a former railway engineer turned economist.
