It will be remembered as the day the greens bombed Copenhagen with limousines.
Picture updated at 12:30PM – Anthony
From the Telegraph, the tale of elitist excess begins:
On a normal day, Majken Friss Jorgensen, managing director of Copenhagen’s biggest limousine company, says her firm has twelve vehicles on the road. During the “summit to save the world”, which opens here tomorrow, she will have 200. “We thought they were not going to have many cars, due to it being a climate convention,” she says. “But it seems that somebody last week looked at the weather report.”
Ms Jorgensen reckons that between her and her rivals the total number of limos in Copenhagen next week has already broken the 1,200 barrier. The French alone rang up on Thursday and ordered another 42. “We haven’t got enough limos in the country to fulfil the demand,” she says. “We’re having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden.”
And the total number of electric cars or hybrids among that number? “Five,” says Ms Jorgensen. “The government has some alternative fuel cars but the rest will be petrol or diesel. We don’t have any hybrids in Denmark, unfortunately, due to the extreme taxes on those cars. It makes no sense at all, but it’s very Danish.”
But wait, there’s more!
The airport says it is expecting up to 140 extra private jets during the peak period alone, so far over its capacity that the planes will have to fly off to regional airports – or to Sweden – to park, returning to Copenhagen to pick up their VIP passengers.
As well 15,000 delegates and officials, 5,000 journalists and 98 world leaders, the Danish capital will be blessed by the presence of Leonardo DiCaprio, Daryl Hannah, Helena Christensen, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Prince Charles. A Republican US senator, Jim Inhofe, is jetting in at the head of an anti-climate-change “Truth Squad.” The top hotels – all fully booked at £650 a night – are readying their Climate Convention menus of (no doubt sustainable) scallops, foie gras and sculpted caviar wedges.

What’s the carbon footprint on that?

I wish we could make the Hype’o’crats take a Harpocratic oath.
We are witnessing something so bizzare words almost fail me.
after all, a stretch limo provides the perfect private rendezvous for those Copenhagen prostitutes

Who are the poor suckers that will be stuck in those hybrids?

Excellent, subtle Marxist reference too.
Who pays for these job dodging crusty clowns on bikes that seem to turn up all the time at eco events?
Thats right, tax paying carbon producers (Workers).
They had better be careful what they wish for.
A Carbon cap strapped society can not indulge itself with welfare payments and bogus higher education degrees like sociology and Art&design.
Also would a society without the distractions of material wealth and its aquisition become more or less tolerent of fools.
Bring it on crusty.
The top hotels – all fully booked at £650 a night
£650 ($1063.00 US) a night hotels—oh the guilt they feel for the plight of countries suffering from carbon oppression as they walk on marble floors after getting out of limos that picked them up from their Gulfstream
Great piece by my beloved Daily Telegrph which, sadly, is still sitting on the fence on this subject despite the wild popularity of its sceptic blog contributors.
All those limos being driven to Copenhagen is going to put a downer on the company Christmas parties, not a limo to be found over much of northern Europe, how sad.
Tall bloke made me laugh out loud with his comment about throwing carbon footprints out of their limo windows to the peasants.
I’m calling the (US) Progressives “ReproBATS” and Liberals “Hippocrats”, but there seems to be no limit to this Saul Alinsky Elitist Crap – it’s global!
Pictures of these escapades need to go global, with price tags attached!
Oh and maybe some endangered polar bears (Phelim McCleer’s voicing of “polar bears” might be permanently wired in my brain) anyway, the polar bears might want to join the celebrations and give thanks for all the great meals, which have been flown in.
Night.
No big deal here. There are scientists and then there are the political scientists. Copenhagen is full of the latter doing their normal behaviour with free money.
Soemone soon, probably from the third world , will announce a reduction of carbon output of over 100%.
You think I am kidding? Watch these assholes with their grandstanding BS.
(I posted on another thread … but well why not here too (pls Mods?)
Dedicated to the EPA, the Politicians, Copenhagen and everyone looking forward to their share of the swag …
He rose to his feet.
“If,” he said tersely, “we could for a moment move on to the subject of fiscal policy …”
“Fiscal policy!” whooped Ford Prefect, “Fiscal policy!”
The Management Consultant gave him a look that only a lungfish could have copied.
“Fiscal policy …” he repeated, “that is what I said.”
“How can you have money,” demanded Ford, “if none of you actually produces anything? It doesn’t grow on trees you know.”
“If you would allow me to continue …”
Ford nodded dejectedly.
“Thank you. Since we decided a few weeks ago to adopt the leaf as legal tender, we have, of course, all become immensely rich.”
Ford stared in disbelief at the crowd who were murmuring appreciatively at this and greedily fingering the wads of leaves with which their track suits were stuffed.
“But we have also,” continued the Management Consultant, “run into a small inflation problem on account of the high level of leaf availability, which means that, I gather, the current going rate has something like three deciduous forests buying one ship’s peanut.”
Murmurs of alarm came from the crowd. The Management Consultant waved them down.
“So in order to obviate this problem,” he continued, “and effectively revalue the leaf, we are about to embark on a massive defoliation campaign, and … er, burn down all the forests. I think you’ll all agree that’s a sensible move under the circumstances.”
The crowd seemed a little uncertain about this for a second or two until someone pointed out how much this would increase the value of the leaves in their pockets whereupon they let out whoops of delight and gave the Management Consultant a standing ovation. The accountants amongst them looked forward to a profitable Autumn.
“You’re all mad,” explained Ford Prefect.
“You’re absolutely barmy,” he suggested.
“You’re a bunch of raving nutters,” he opined.

Climate Convention menus….foie gras
Isn’t foie gras about $90.00 a pound?
Daryl Hannah will be there. She is an animal rights activist. Will she be protesting foie gras being on the menu because of how foie gras is produced? Maybe it’s better she doesn’t know it’s on the menu.
All manner of useful and insightful reports here.

Another harp reference brings us back to Rev. Anthony. ‘Hope’ by G F Watts, POTUS’s favourite painting apparently, the link explains

[sorry Mod. beyond me].
It might be a lyre (the rest of you can riff on that one). Watts Gallery is a worthy cause and there are prints of the cartoon available. Also Harpic a popular toilet cleaner over here would bring us back to Prof. watson but that’s probably enough scatology for now.
I would think that if someone agitated some religious extremists ( remember Denmark) would it not make the world a better place ?
What a load of self-serving hypocrites they are.
Copenhagen – København is literally translated as: Buyer’s Harbour. The word købe also means ‘bribe’ and havn can be translated as ‘haven’.
HC Andersen would likely have seen the high irony in the IPCC choosing a town called ‘Briber’s Haven’ to sell the world the biggest scam in history.
It’s enough to make the little mermaid blush.

This is astonishing – great spot from Bishophill/Storch
